Coffee Break # 47 - Getting close to turkey time

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Hey ho, I'm here. I was just checking on some threads and saw that you were wondering about me. I haven't been on the computer much lately, I'm in a bookreading phase. Thanks for the concern. We are doing okay. Mom is still hanging in there. She is amazingly resilient.
We started the kitchen reno late August. Everything is down. Jeff has been working on wiring lately. I can still use all my appliances, but next week we'll be starting to drywall, so don't know how much I'll be able to cook, etc.

Hi Jan! glad to see you. Wow, that kitchen project has gone on for a while. Good luck!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yes, it has. hahahaha. It took all of 2 summers to get the cabinets finished, which are sitting in our neighbor's garage. The appliances have been sitting in the store's warehouse since March. It is definitely a DIY project. Jeff has next week and 2 weeks at Christmas off, so he hopes to get much accomplished.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

DIY, as in 'done in years'!!

Great terminology!

Thomaston, CT

Kitchen projects are the worst.....just that small redo in Aug. has left a bad memory.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Good one, Victor. Definitely 'done in years'. I do soooo appreciate his work though. Now, watch, we'll decide to move.

Funny what having power will do to those making decisions.

Catchin up (puff, puff, puff). Congrats to Victor Jr!!!! I have been flying back and forth like a yoyo helping EMoo out and I am now doing the bodyscan cuz the patdown is an assault. I even got a bruise on my boob! I'm getting even though by mouthing 'YOU ARE A PERVERT' when I'm in there. HA! I keep thinkin they'll pull me out of line later for that but they haven't yet (tee hee). I also think it's horrific that they make seniors go in there without their canes and hold their hands over their heads! ARGH!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow, geeze D-Nut I probably would have hauled off and belted the person.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Missed you, Dnut! Timely experience for our discussion. Only reinforces what I feel.

South Hamilton, MA

I have started to use a wheelchair so I can pack my cane. I don't see why i can't hold on to the chair with one hand & then quickly stand hands up for a couple seconds. They are going to have to be more accomedating for seniors.

She was bigger than me flowAjen. I think she could have wooped me.

Disgusting, we should stop doing what these other countries do before we become what we hate the most.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The most ridiculous part is that the body scanners do NOT provide any additional security. They are no better than metal detectors.

There was a suicide bomber last year who tried to kill a Saudi prince by detonating a bomb inserted in his butt. What will they start doing if there is a bombing attempt on a plane using that technique?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Horrors!

One stewardess, on the job for 32 years and a breast cancer survivor, refused to go through the scanner and had to go through the pat down. One of the women checking her felt her breast, asked what it was and the stewardess told her it was a prosthetic breast. They did not believe her and made her remove her bra. This is after 32 years of service in the good old USA.

- I know the way I'd vote...

Low of the lowest.....very sad society we live in at times......

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'd vote for having the baby, giving the child to a loving family and aborting the parents.

True!

Good idea Pirl!

Society and individuals can be pretty insane. I want to look at other, more inspiring things these days. I thought I'd come visit DG for a while, especially since Victor sent out a request. The world can be so aggrivating with all the insanity lately. DG used to be my little haven away from that craziness. I admit I let it get to me and sometimes take part, so please don't hear me as coming across as too good for this. I'm not. However, I think I'm going to continue to lay low here. Sorry Victor.
