She's about to...54

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I keep a bottle of seven spray handy, but others don't like using pesticides. Not for sure what they do!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

happ, your box came today and just love the assortment you sent. This is only my second time trying Brugs and hope one day the noid you shared will bloom and I can share it back.

Last Winter when I tried Coleus cuttings, Susie, I kept a spray bottle of organic Neem Oil handy to fend off the aphids. If you get mealybugs, a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the leaves should do the trick.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

ok thanks for the tips any thing to keep them away guess that is why I Always hated house plants .
so i hope to keep them away before they come .

well off to watch the news & then for a good movie you all have a great evening .

My biggest problem this Summer was trying to fight Spider Mites on the EE's. I can't tell ya'll how many times my sprayer was set on jet mode and blast both sides of the leaves. Noodling around, I've learned that Spider Mites thrive in hot humid conditions, so they were in Heaven here and noticed they were especially horrible after a Summer rain. My EE's are put to bed now, just waiting for their bodacious leaves to emerge next year.

Your blooms brightened my day, Debra, and especially loved seeing your double Datura. Come sit by the fire and warm up.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

hey deejay, your box has mg seeds in it I am pretty sure, if not let me know, I have all colours of the rainbow here..
Faye your snow queen hibiscus cutting is rooting nicely, I have other tropical cuttings going, so if they take I will save a few for you.

I have cuttings of almost everything I have been growing going on here, it is my mad scientist project every year.
The datura was sown from seeds, but they didn't come up in time, so I brought them in.
neener, havn't seen a purple brug yet, but the Iochroma purple queen is pretty. That one up there is a dat. I have seeds if u want some.

I have been picking mealy bugs off of everything a few here and a few there, no aphids yet, only a few fungus gnats, not as many as last year, use mosquitoe dunks in my water now.
I never have a qtip when i find a mealey bug, so I just squish them. I use spray too, Linda.
The good thing about a few gnats is they pollinate for me, I have a seed pod on the big red hibiscus that opened inside for me.

I am going to tell everyone that I sent plants to, please be sure and inspect them for those mealy bugs, when I think they are gone, they just suddenly re-appear. The little dadstards!
Hehe.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Thank you Debra, I would love any Hibiscus. Do I have any Angels that you don't have? will be glad to share.
AYF, Faye

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Faye, I will have to look and see what we have that is different. I don't see a Kaitlyn on there or a Dola, Flamenco and Cherub. ( on your list) . will get those to you beofre spring, along with hibiscus. You also have to grow some of the beautiful morning glorys ( just three that I favored this year) they are not invasive and have variegated leaves and huge blooms. I am making seed bags for all you guys for Christmas . I want you to see and enjoy the beauty of those this next summer. That includes the Lobata. I do not have a Serendipity, or a yard sale yellow.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Those darn mealy bugs are going to be the death of me. I have sprayed, wiped, blasted, cussed and still have them ruining lots of things. They completely decimated my coleus collection which is no more. Even a few cutting that my Mom gave me that aren't anywhere near anything else are getting the fuzzy little monsters. I GIVE UP! Deb if you have some of those purple dat seeds I 'd love a few. Arlene (who used to be on the birthday club a while back) sent me some that looked like that, but I couldn't get them to sprout at all.

Hey Fruitcake how did you put your EE's to bed? The ones you and Happ gave me aren't looking too great. I have them in the garage with the hibis and the brugs. Never having had them at all I don't know what they are supposed to be doing this time of year. Enlighten me my friend. :))

Good morning everyoine
You got it Susie. Will let you know when mailed.
Debra, those Hibiscus are beautiful. Are they tropical 's? If you can root them from cuttings, please add me to the want list. Your purple datura is also beautiful. Loved mine too but worms played havoc with it. I have seeds for the purple and for the triple yellow if anyone wants them.
Good day to you all
Faye

Seeds for datura's??? I'd LOVE to try them.

Neener, I cut the leaves off, washed the bulbs and let them dry very well on a towel. Dropped each bulb with name tag in a paper bag, lunch bag size, and have stored the bags in a box of aspen shavings, got a block of it in the pet dept at WM cheap. You can store them in peat moss, perlite, or any clean moisture-free shavings. This year I've dedicated an area in a closet to store bulbs since our garage isn't heated. Well it will be with the new woodstove but still won't have consistent heat.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Miracle grow is all I use for my plants!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Fruity. I'll see what I can do.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

I too use Miracle Grow potting soil or Miracle Grow Garden Soil.
Maggie, Purple and Yellow Datura seeds will be with your Angel cuttings.
Susie, Yellow Datura seeds will be in your box.
Susan, do I have any Angels you would want to try? You are welcome to any I have.
Hugs, Faye

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Faye. Pick an assortment you like and we can trade for the Canna rhizomes I'm sending you. Would that be alright with you?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

For those of you that knew Kris/Elf. She posted on facebook, that she lost her Mother yesterday! This is her post...

"I would like to thank all my facebook friends and Daves Garden Friend who prayed for my mom. She passed quietly in her sleep this morning at 12:30 am PST. She was in a coma since Friday and so did not suffer and she is now in a much better world."

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Be glad to Susan, and thank you.
Got a great box today from GAgirl. 9 Angels. Thank you so much Paula.

debra What is that plant???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please tell us what that plant is??? It is so pretty!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

this is a stictocardia brevenis ( I can't spell it) I have had it for over two years, it has vined and vined and never bloomed, so I cut it back and brought it in. now it is going crazy. it is a morning glory. I hope we get some seeds so I can send you all some. It is a prenneil for tropical zones, so I have to keep it in a hanging pot.
if you google this name, Ipomoea beraviensis, Stictocardia beraviensis
you get top tropicals pictures of it, they sell theirs for 24.95

If I get the cuttings to root, I will be sharing. If I get seeds, I am for sure sharing. if anything, it teaches you patience.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Sounds wonderful hope we get seeds :) we all will do a dance for it :) HEHE after my morning coffee.
I Hope my cuttings come today I Have everything set up & Ready for them .
all that is left is to print out the names when they arrive :) I Love surprises .

Well I Have two little babies up by the door wanting their treats so will be back later .

Here is her center.
She smells wonderful.
The name is something Pink, I think Pink Beauty got it from AuntB a million years ago it feels like.
It is actually a darker pink but my flash washes the color out and as the blooms age they get darker. It is a wonderful brug.

I think I have posted this one before because this is about the 3rd time it has bloomed. Not alot of blooms but they are beautiful. Snow cone is still in full bloom, it has been a long time and they look like they did a 10 days ago...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful! They will last longer when it is cooler! When mine bloomed this summer, I was lucky to have the bloom for two days, now they last 8 days or more!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Debra, that MG is beautiful, and yes I want it!
Yes, Paula is a "keeper".
Joyce, love your blooming Angels. My garage still smells like a perfume factory. Wish that part would lat forever.
Hope everyone has had a great day.

Faye try to bottle some of the smell for us :)) Please :) HEHE

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just got a call from my youngest son, his girlfreind Heather just lost her baby! She was 11 weeks along! Dr, just said it was not meant to be! Not a good year for the babies in our family!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

It sure hasn't been, LK. I'm so sorry.

Pinkie's a beauty, happ, regardless of her name.

Our neighbor scared the willies out of us this morning when he knocked on the backdoor at 6 o'clock. Mickey went nuts barking and covers went flying. It was like me in my nightgown and he in his cap trying to see what was the matter. I think the worst imaginable has happened when the phone rings in the middle of the night or somebody's here that early. Turns out, he'd just left cushions from his deer stand in our garage and wanted to pick them up before heading back to the woods. Geez, why didn't he do that yesterday afternoon when he was here. I'll never figure out men and they toys. It was a chilly rainy day, worked on swaps and trades, and am almost caught up. Are you still cooking for the deer camp, Susie?

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Awww Linda Kay, I'm so sorry. :(

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks eveyone!

Susan, I bet you had to change pants after hearing the knocking on your door that early?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh Linda, I am so sorry for you and your family. I am sure God had a reason. Here is a hug for you, my dear friend. {{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}

Gee, my silly cross from a seed from Gordonhawk is Y'ing. Is it confused? It is axelrose x LWS.. can't wait to see it. My cherub x berkongian is trying to do something. I had de-leafed it when it got those dang bugs so bad. now it acts like it is trying to grow. these things are crazy.

that pink is awsome and I just cut betty marshall back so her blooms are gone. The three pods on kaitlyn are getting huge! I can't cut on her until they are off of her, and I have no clue when that is supposed to happen. HELP??
