4th Annual Daves Garden Christmas Craft Workshop!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

This is going to be so much fun seeing everyone's creations! Just charged my drill battery today and it's ready to whirl. Hubby occasionally surprises me with power tools that are on my wish list. So far I have a drill, an orbital sander I've about worn out, a nail gun I used when we built our decks --- now that was an empowering experience even if I couldn't lift my arm for a while -- a router I've never used and wanted to make picture frames, and a mitre saw that still scars the wits out of me when I fire it up. Power tools still beat pots and pans hands down, don't you think?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I agree! Love power tools! You need to work with your router, they are so much fun!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I have a drill, I can sand, I can find twigs...any colors fine by me......

Betty, you are AWESOME~!!!!!

Lexington Park, MD

Power tools rule. What are pots and pans?

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

Pots and pans ??? my favorite power tool is my weedwacker with the saw blade attached, serious brush hog !!! Betty ,any color is fine I can go fetch sticks ,and sand.Hoping you got my $$$

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, managed to get some branches cut for legs and even drill them..

Still disappointed about the Christmas tree not getting cut but just didn't have the thin rough saw wood..oh well, what we will do is trace the tree and paint, lordy who will know the difference except you and me and surely we won't tell..

I'm excited, keeping within budget so far even with the extra snowman why you ask???

Those who ordered 2 kits made the difference because 2 kits fit in the large flat box, so doing the happy dance here..

Feels good to be parcelling this morning because I know my work is done and all that will remain is the playing with you all..

OMG you've got 'tools' cool...we're in the right group aren't we and those of you who don't have tools, we'll share and I'm sure before long you'll get hooked..

For those that don't know me, I've more tools than most men would hope to have..lol..

Don't have time to gab now, but hope we can today as it's awfully lonely there at the office just doing crafts...

Enjoy your day!

Lexington Park, MD

Will go and turn on computer in sewing room so we can chat when you get to work. It looks really cold in boat wrap photo.

Happy Birthday, Crissy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Happy Birthday Crissy, singing off key but what to heck, just had to do it..

Laura, it was 27 degrees last night..had to be done otherwise they'd be doing it in a blizzard..I'm lucky, Greg is friends with the guy in the photo who keeps pieces left over from 50 ft. yatch's, doesn't charge, then he and Greg trade off labour..makes is affordable dont you think..felt badly, between my being in the pond taking out the pump and doing the workshop pkgs. I didn't even think of offering coffee/hot chocolate etc...me bad!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

Dang, that was fast Betty, glad you got it.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Birthday Crissy. Hope it's the best one ever!!!!

Had quite a time at the Dr with Norm this morning. Since his first melanoma procedure, he sees his Dermatologist every three months. At his last check in early Oct, the Dr removed four moles. One was a cancer definite, another was precancerous and the other two were benign. Today we went in for the Dr to take more tissue from the precancerous one and to check on the one that was definte. The definite one had to have a bit of "clean up around the edges" of the incision (I guess they were a bit ragged and the Dr smoothed them out so they wouldn't catch on Norm's clothing in the future. Then they went to work on the precancerous one.
It is located just above his belt line and just to the right of his spine. When It was taken the first time for biopsy, it left a surface cut about the size of a quarter. Today they took another piece out about the size of a half dollar and a good 3/8" thick. He now has three internal and six external stitches in his back. He is one sore puppy right now and I finally got him to lie down for a while. He tries so hard to be the tough guy and hates to admit when he hurts. We are expremely grateful for the wonderful care he is getting and for how thorough each doctor is that he sees. Between his primary, the dermatologist and the oncologist he is in fabulous hands. We go back in two weeks to have the stitches out and then on Dec 2 he gets his latest PET scan with the oncologist. I can't tell you how grateful I am for all the prayers that have been offered up for him over these last two plus years. I truly believe they have made a big difference in his attitude and his ongoing care. I thank you from the bottome of my heart........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, please know our prayers will continue for the both of you! Praying all the reports are good ones!
((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Lord has a way of looking after good folk Barb..yep, men have a tendancy not to want to show they are in pain...the doctor's seem to be keeping a close eye on Norm..great care he's getting both with them and with you!

Talked to Ann this aft. and she's going through a terrible time, finally breaking down mega time..they did chemo yesterday and can't figure out why the last one put him in the hospital for 5 days..last time they had chemo, their house got robbed, yesterday they got home and the basement was flooded..not good!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, will check the posting date, didn't look to see how long it took to get here.... maybe your mailman is faster..

Lyndonville, NY

Barb, lots of hugs and prayers coming your way. I have the same issue with precancerous lesions. I got back Dec. 6th to have the one on my foot taken at a bigger area. I asked him to just do it bigger/deeper to begin with, but no....now a second appt. They do hurt....feel bad for Norm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Must hurt like the dickens Debbie, wasn't one of them giving you trouble when we did our tour?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

God bless you Debbie and I send you BIG ((((((())))))s... He truly is a trooper about everything he has gone through and I'm really proud of him.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I had just had one removed right before our trip. I have had about 30 removed, all but 5 were precancerous.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You were a trooper Debbie, not complaining the whole time I dragged you around!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My step-dad's having an issue with a cancerous mole that was on the top/back of his head. Unfortunately there's no way to cut down and get it all out there, so he's having to do 20 local radiation treatments, once a day for 20 days minus the weekends, and they said there's no side affects or anything, but his ears are ringing and he has a headache. Since he refuses to tell the drs he's not feeling right I researched it and those are common side affects. gggrrrrrrrrr

Poor Norm, I hope his pain subsides real soon! I'm thankful for him that it's in a fatty part of the body.

Debbie I remember you mentioning something about that...

Oh my dear hubby out-thought himself! He's so cute, he was going to buy a ham to cook for my birthday dinner tonight but saw pork shoulders on sale, so bought one of those instead, didn't notice that the ham takes 2 hours and the shoulder takes 6 hours. I'll be home in just over 2 hours so that won't work. He doesn't really want to spend the money to go out to dinner gggrrrrrr so we agreed on homemade burritos and I'm going to stop by the liquor store and get some wine and a few other items (have to get prepared for eggnog you know...) lol

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Crissy, they lied to him big time! There are quite a few side effects from radiation. Burns, somulance (sleeping a lot), major fatigue, sores, mouth sores, ears ringing....dang!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Happy Birthday Crissy !!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thank you!!!

Well my goodness, I need to tell mom this. It's local radiation, where they put it directly on the cancerous cells, takes one minute... you know what I'm talking about I'm sure...

Yes, sure do....

My mom had it to her head/cranial area. She developed blisters on top of her head, then the skin peeled. She also lost her hair. It had started growing back from the chemo treatments....then she started radiation. It all fell out again.

Just keep an eye on it....maybe talk to the radiation tech instead of the doctor. He may very well have a less extensive dosage than we experienced.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well he's not going to lose any hair because he doesn't have much, just on the very back of his head and very very thin on top. I'll tell her what you said, thanks so much!!

Lexington Park, MD

Barb hugs to you both. Men can be very hard headed sometimes. I am sure you both feel better having Drs around that are thorough.
Betty will you give Ann a hug for me please I only know a small portion of what she is going through....

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Rats, I'd hoped you'd received my envy by now. You and Debbie have a great time at Hamburg this week-end. Sure wish I could be a fly on the wall.

Lyndonville, NY

I will see her first thing in the morning....and keep you posted.

I am excited!

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

Gosh I hope you made it across the border too, that would be annoying having to sneak wood craft projects over !!!! Glad you got my envy !!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Be careful, the weather up in NY isn't the best right now.

Lyndonville, NY

I just got back home from meeting up with Betty and the girls. What a fun group they are. They were naughty and raising havic in the hotel last night, Betty looked tired out!

She made it safely across the border, without an inspection. Back of the car is packed full of "packages". They were doing a bit more shopping...then off to the post office.

Rain has started here, and turning to snow by this evening 7:00ish.

I can't tell you all how hard Betty worked. She really put her heart and soul into these projects. I looked in my box and am just amazed at all the work she did. Her leg is still giving her trouble from all the sanding and machine work.....she is going to be worn out by the tiem she gets back home.

So much excitement....wish I could have spent the day with them.

Debbie
