4th Annual Daves Garden Christmas Craft Workshop!!!

Lexington Park, MD

Did you receive my envelope yet?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

My payment went out in this morning's mail, Betty. Thank you for letting me play in your virtual workshop...make that two with the extra project you're including. That's very generous and will probably be one of the first to bug you for personal tutoring :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

You'll all do just fine, very primitive project..

Just drilling holes into the base/trees/snowpeople..

Started to cut wires when I remembered one thing, the wires were not to my liking as arms, remember going and picking little stubs off trees for arms, so once you get your kit you can find 6 pieces..I'll cut mine tomorrow and show you..need to give you all something to do besides sanding!

Wilmington, MA(Zone 5b)

Hi Betty,
I mailed the $$ today. Lee

Lyndonville, NY

Now the woman wants me to use a power tool. I have never used a power tool except an electric screwdriver! Oh wait...does an electric canopener count?

Victoria Harbour, ON

It does Debbie, lol, nope no tools, sending you a piece of sandpaper for sanding and just snip a little twig which shall be arms, you'll see, piece of cake AND I'll be seeing you this weekend, can show you what to pick..

Way past my bedtime, got all the pieces drilled, wouldn't have thought it would take 4 1/2 hrs. but it did.

My goal tomorrow night is to make the supply pkgs. containing neck scarves, sparkles, snow and screws, that will then leave the wrapping for Wednesday night..

Had everything scheduled to a 't' then didn't the girls decide to leave Thursday night..took it like a trooper, lol, didn't say a word!!!

For those who have sent their cheques, thank you, when I receive I'll put a checkmark next to your name that way I can keep it straight and you can know your $$$ arrived safely.

Lyndonville, NY

betty, I am messing with you...lol I have plenty of sandpaper...and sanding tools. My son refinishes guitars for fun.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Knew you were joshing..

Tired as I am sure you are..gab tomorrow, if I soon don't go to bed it will be tomorrow..

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

G'night "trooper Betty"

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,
wow, talk about cold out there, furries just don't want to go out for their morning constitution.

OMG, was laying there thinking of what else had to be done, came to me I forgot to cut little trees for the extra piece I'm sending soooo guess what I'm up to..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had to change my plans, no wood thin enough to do the trees, we'll come up with something won't we, but I did manage last night to do Step 1 & 2 of the project; all that remains is Step 3 which basically is to put snow on the trees, insert arms, add snow, then sparkles..remember I did say it was a primitive piece.....

Every year since her birth I have given my grand daughter a snowman ornament. This year she's 15 so we will paint and decorate it together. My mom, age 91 taught her how to crochet a few years ago, so I'll make a knitted scarf and let her crochet one. Looking forward to this fun project.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's marvellous, no better feeling, sense of accomplishment than seeing our little ones beside us, working on a project, learning so that they too can pass on to theirs one day..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-there is no tax on shipping at the USPS, which if you look on their site gives you the dimensions and price of shipping of their boxes. Figure you already knew that, but thought I'd mention it just in case

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey is the USPS the same as the regular post office I usually send or is it a different company?

Only box it would all fit in is the $10.70 box, don't have enough of them but I've made labels, will package the kits so that when I get to the post office it will only be a matter of slipping them inside the box and tape the label to the top..some of the girls I'm going with are into purchasing youth clothing so perhaps while they do that I'll slip over to the post office..don't want to keep them from 'shop till you drop' mode

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty just for future reference. USPS is the United States Postal Service - think post office.
UPS is United Parcel Sevice (think brown trucks) and is a company like FEDEX. The flat rate boxes you use are from USPS and are priority mail and you would go to a post office to mail them. Hope this keeps your mind clear as to what and where you need to be. If you put a green slip on the packages for tracking numbers it costs 70 cents each. So a $10.70 flat rate would then be $11.40. After not being able to track something, I always use these except for a card or letter. Hope this info is helpful

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm not Stacey but yes, they are the same thing.

My payment is off to you, Betty. I don't know how long it takes to get there from TN but I'll keep checking if my name has been marked as paid. Thanks.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the info

Left the house early this morning to go to Home Depot to pick up dowels so that I could use them for legs on the extra snowman I sent you but lordy, cost a fortune..hoping maybe if my leg is better I might stop in the bush and look for branches, if not, you can add 2 sticks, about the width of a dime and about 6" long..

Will try to post photo of what you might look for in your travels the next week or so..

DID WANT TO ASK, does anyone know what color they might do theirs in so that when I package scarves I can try to match, otherwise what's in the box it what you use..anything goes so it wouldn't matter really!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Anything goes here!

Lyndonville, NY

Anything goes here also Betty...no problem.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, those are going to be so cute! Love the painted version, now we have more of an idea sa what they are supposed to look like! No promises here, but I will give it my best!

Betty, go to... https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do
and fill out the info. Use the US address, and you can see what your postage is going to be! You can even print out the labels now, and have them all set to go!

Flat rate postage for a medium box will be $10.20 if you pay it online, $10.70 if you pay at post office! A large flat rate will be $13.95/14.50

This is for ordering flate rate boxes.
https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10052&categoryId=10000036&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10000002&top_category=10000002&WT.ac=10000036

Medium flate rate box is 11" X 8.5" X 5.5", or 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8"

Large flat rate box is 12” x 12” x 5 1/2”

Lexington Park, MD

Any color for me works just fine.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So laughing, brought my bag with all my Christmas card junk, thought I might get a few made here today, bet the telephone hasn't rung 3 times this morning, got out my bag and oooh, hadn't had it out since last year, must have been eating apples because there in the bag is a shrivelled up apple, hey, maybe I can make one of the apple doll..

You have done far too much for us already. Any color goes!
Oh I can get twigs from our woods so don't worry about that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

will add that link to my info, thanks LindaKay

Won't print out labels because I've done them all..the flat rate box it will fit in (lots of room) is the 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8"

Actually the station that I go to were so nice last Christmas, he took the time to do each one and determine if it was cheaper depending on where the pkg. was going or flat rate, some went without flat rate box but most had to be sent in the box..it's a fair size when done..

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll take a better photo of the project I'm sending as a gift..am sure you will all be able to gather twigs if I can't...if you think you can't let me know asap and I'll gather for those who might not be near a bush..

Lexington Park, MD

I have plenty of twigs here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

do you have a drill to put a hole through the twig???

Lyndonville, NY

Yep, sure do! I have lots of trees/twigs and even dowels down stairs.

Glenview, IL

Wilmington, MA(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the newcomer welcome! I might have to have my DH help me with this! He has all the tools. I have lots of twigs too. Now if you can find a project using brown oak leaves I'll be in business. We have tons of those.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Could send you bags of leaves as well Lee, you'll do find, bet you see you'll not need the help of DH..

I've sat and cut wires this morning, don't you think that between making Christmas card kits for another group and doing anything else that keeps me busy that my hand should shake o n payday..

The new guy in Peterborough who will do assessments in that office (160 kl. from here) called and asked me how I fill in my time, W E L L , take up crafts, knitting etc.
