BJ - does your neighbour have any family nearby - his or hers? As it's such a shock, he may not be able to take care of himself (and that's not an age thing - we all kind of "shut down" when we get a shock, and he's had a major one.....)

well my dried fruit is chopped and soaking in rum for my fruit cake . i will be making tomorrow. oh i hope it turns out as good as last year.
its a one time a year kind of cake.
chocolate fruit cake with rum and chocolate glaze.
I may do an apple version one too ? and use apple cider that has been cooked down to a syrup and use as a glaze. could work ?

Somebody mentioned Rum???

Hmmm can't disclose what I am doing, BUT, little giggles, proud to say it is entirely done by hand, roflol even though it a tiny bit off center!! Been thinking about ya lots lately...Yeppers, that was me ringle jingling you the other night, just wanted to say Hi and share a giggle...It's the last project on the to do list...Onward and Upward onto the rows~

Chocolate fruit cake?
Never heard of it before, but I used to make a delish dark fruit cake, with fruit, and soaked in rum for 6 weeks (update the rum every week!!)
It was a cake to convert those who thought they didn't like fruit cake - very moist!!! yummm

this is a recipe from Bon Appetite magazine . its a bunt style with real fruit in it. Dried figs, prunes, peaches and dates. no red and green balls of ???? have no idea wha those are ?
it can convert those who question fruit cake . Susan yours sounds like mine. its very dense dark and rich .
wow run soaked for 6 wks ! i bet its good :)

Those red and green balls may be candied cherries or worse, made out of candied unripe melons :((
I had traditional brandy soaked fruit cakes (revived weekly) and had also some that were only good for weights!
Sue, is the recipe from the current issue? I haven't even tore up the plastic it came in!

Sistah Judy!!! You made me laugh last night!!! Poor Steve!!! But at least the dryer's fixed and you could buy more fabrics with the money you've saved. I'm serious as a door mouse about the design. Can't think anything better than a tribute to the one you love.

It's foggy.. rained last night.. but I'm determined to do some more work outside. If it starts raining, then I'll be sewing.. as I should yesterday.

First off, Crissy, happy belated birthday, so sorry I missed your special day. Hope it was one of the best ever...

Next....yes, BJ...Marion and I still talk about the eye-candy Mike that lives by you. As I recall all the friends at the party they were having, I'm sure he has a good support system. Please tell him we're thinking of him and praying as well.

I've been feeling pretty depressed....finally told Lisa about her paternal grandmother dying from uteran cancer. She knew that she had died from cancer, but didn't know what kind, so she was glad to hear it so she can tell her Dr.....she said, maybe I'll just have the whole thing taken out. Well, I'm glad I told her since she didn't freak about it. My mom looks bad. She looks like she's lost weight to me and she's worried about my dad...she said he's been SOOOOO forgetful. Now something else to worry about. Found out I only have 6 more weeks of unemployment and still not a peep from anything I apply for. Just feel like digging a hole and eating worms.....

Lisa is having surgery on Friday to have the lining of her uterus removed. She has really heavy periods and has been having some back problems. That's why she said maybe she'd just have the whole thing taken out.

Joyce I'm so sorry your being hit at all ends here! I wish I had a closer relationship with my mom but there's no way, she's too something I can't even explain, all I know is she's going to drive me into counseling. I'm so glad you told Lisa!! That's great she's just saying, well then take it out! That's awesome! Sending prayers her way also.

I had an absolute great day yesterday, Dave made awesome burritos, the bottle of wine I chose was excellent, but the first hour after I got off work was like this....

I was having some work issues and texting my boss about them while I was at the liquor store trying to figure out what kind of wine I wanted and my dad's girlfriend starts calling, I don't answer because I'm texting my boss regarding work back and forth, voice mail picked up and she called right back. I still didn't answer and so she starts texting me, one right after the other, about what Partylite candles I want for my birthday. Oh I got POed big time, that is one of the rudest things you can do. So I text her and told her that I was having work issues and am talking to my boss and I would call her back, thinking that logically she would stop texting and calling because I'm talking to my boss... oh no, she really started texting, one sentence texts one right after the other, they said, "Is everything ok?" next text "Why are you texting your boss?" next text "Whats the problem at work?" OMG!!!

Then my mom started calling, I had already talked to her twice yesterday and she was all down in the dumps, my step-dad is having some local radiation done on a cancerous mole on the side of his head and we were talking about how they say the radiation treatments are 98% successful, I told her that birth control is also 98% and I've never gotten pregnant so the chances of them killing all the cancer is really good. She said, "Well good for you for never getting pregnant on birth control." I said, "Thanks mom." She then realized what she said and changed the subject, I just told her that I needed to get off the phone and hung up. Then people wonder why I don't answer my phone. Sheesh!!!

hmmmm and you screen the call from me, too!! LOL LOL j/k, j/k!! LOL

I've been working sistahs!! Yep.. went through storage boxes..and I shouldn't have done that. Pulling out stuffs I'd need that Kel behind my back had stored away!!
4 more plants to move into the workshop.. 2 brugmansias to dig out... then I'll be through.. nope.. not yet.
Got heavy duty mulching before this weekend!

Need a volunteer to do a new room? Any takers? Pretty please.. the pay is appalling :(
