For anyone who wanted a pic of Jonathan. I will be putting all of the modified shots on Picassa and will post a link as soon as I can. If you want one, I can email you the shot and you can get them printed at your local Walgreens by uploading them on the site for really cheap. Like $1.59 for a 5X7. If you are like my dear Tante and the speed on your PC is too slow, if you have the address of the Walgreens closest to you, I can send them to that Walgreens to be printed for you to pick up....
AUNTIE BIGGLES & JIGGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUAH! Kisses to you!!
Well....got the call about noon yesterday that Grandpa passed away in his sleep. He had been having apnea episodes as of late and when he first stopped breathing mom just assumed he'd start breathing again. He didn't. He passed quietly and peacefully which I guess is all we can ask for a 102yr old man. He lived a great life-traveled all over the world, had a child and grandchildren and great grand children that loved him dearly, lots of friends and had 2 loves of his life he was fortunate enough to meet and marry. Mom is already in St. Louis, Chris is driving there from Fargo and I am riding with my BIL & SIL down there this am. I am taking my puter and we are staying at the Holiday Inn. If anyone wants to send cards to Mom she should have her address updated in the exchange-if not I can send it to anyone who dmails. We are all trying to hold our heads up, and I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to cry a lot-my poor tender heart I guess. Such a sweet man that crawled under my skin the first time I met him. I will be glad to say goodbye to his friends as well since I got to know them quite well and really like them. There is one older man named Jean who is my sweetie-always asks about me and is enamored by my tattoo and my son.
Will talk to you all when I get back if I can't check in while away.
(((Stacey))) Sorry for your loss, but so glad you got to have some awesome years with Grandpa....Be safe, little one.
((((Janice))))) So sorry about your Dad....no matter how old they get, it doesn't get any easier in losing them....Hopefully you'll be able to remember all the wonderful times you had together.
Love you both,
Cookie
I don't EVER see a flamingo that I don't think of you, Kim.....glad to see you posting once again....
Sending my sympathies to you both Stacey and Janice. I am so sorry for your loss. Big ((((()))))
(((((Stacy and Janice)))) Cookie is right..the heart grieves, even when you know it's time for them to say good bye.
BJ and Kim..good to see you on here :) Hope life is being kind to you!
(((((((((Stacey & Janice)))))))) Sorry for your loss. You've had many more years with your Grandpa that you've enjoyed. Bless him for having passed peacefully in his sleep. The LORD has him running and playing now, I'm sure. He's likely acting like a mature 12 year old, rather than the 102 year old you knew him as.
Kim - why a flamingo? I only ask because there is a community in Winnipeg that's well known for putting plastic flamingos on their front lawn. It's become a standing joke (from when people used to only use them for birthday celebrations, it got out of hand..... imho).
Good morning, and hugs to everyone!!
Flamingo KIIMMMM!!! I have missed you girl!!! Thanks so much for posting!!
Stacey big big big hugs for you and Janice. I am so sorry for your loss.
((( Stacey & Janice ))) Heartfelt sympathies. I know he was loved, and will be missed by all. Love you both.
With a few days off from the construction project, looks like I have a little time to visit... but not much. I'm going to try to get rid of some of the dust that's settled on every horizontal surface in my house... it's incredible how fast it accumulates. Also, Don is off tomorrow - Tues... so, we're going flea-marketing tomorrow... then we'll be burning the miles of piles of debris all over the place. We've waited months for them to lift the burn ban here, so we're excited to finally get to do that.
Thanks Cris, I'm excited to get back to visit here, and catch up with what all my sistahs are doing.
Just so sorry to hear so many of you are dealing with such sickness and loss...
I decided to finally have some work done on my teeth. I have a molar that's been chipping away for about 10 years... although it's never hurt or caused me any pain... until recently. Actually, the chipped tooth still doesn't hurt, it's the one just above it. It hasn't had anything to rest on, and is dropping down, and about to fall out... that's the one that hurts. So, the dentist sent me to a root canal specialist in Dallas to try to save the chipped tooth... will have the upper one pulled next week, and a deep cleaning done on all of them... by then, our dental insurance will be exhausted for this year... then, beginning in January... I will have all the rest of them worked on... some cavities, and 2 more root canals, and one implant ... and the dentist is trying to talk me into braces on the bottom, but that just ain't going to happen.... sorry.
Other than that, our health has been good... nothing other than feeling old most of the time...
In the early stages of the construction project, we broke a glass on one of the old windows... before we could get it all picked up, Jackson sliced open one of his paws... was a really deep cut. The vet stitched it up, and he wore a cast for a week... we were shocked that he left it alone, never even chewed at it. He's all better now, but hasn't learned a thing from it... he's still underfoot when we're working.
I have been able to work a little bit on some polymer clay projects. Only because I need to sell something. You see, I want some new furniture... and Don said that we can't afford the furniture I want to buy... so, I'm trying to make enough to help buy it. So far, I haven't sold any of it... but it is listed on Etsy... and hopefully someone will buy some for Christmas presents.
Take a look and tell me what you think.

Well, better get up and get busy now...
BJ - Ouch on the glass cut for Jackson!! glad to hear it's better and that he didn't irritate it!
Good luck on the selling of your projects and hope you get the furniture you want!
January's not that far off for your dental work. Sure you'll be even more beautiful when it's done, and you don't have the pain from the falling tooth!!
Beautiful bracelets, BJ...the jars are wonderful as well!
Hello from Washington! Just reading through quickly, Hello to BJ and Kim! Stacey, sorry to hear about Grandpa, sending prayers for the family! I will be home Monday, and catch up then!
(((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) to all!
Linda
BJ-you know how you made the key chain thingies from the Betty Boop pics?? Can you make me a bracelet out of some Jonathan pics?????
Thanks everyone...
Mornin' everyone !!!
Stacey... you have dmail.
BJ, I love the lotion containers! There's one that has just a few small flowers on it and looks like splashes of green..is that a pink color or more towards peach? I couldn't really tell by the picture.
Happy Halloween, everybody :)
Edited to say: DUH! I just realized they had listing numbers :) This one is Listing # 57223184

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
BJ sounds like the remodeling project is coming along and I'm glad your getting your teeth fixed! I saw a show the other day that bad teeth can lead to all kinds of health problems. I never gave that any thought! I know about needing money for things, I'm thinking about getting a second job so I have some spending money for Christmas, actually had some until our two vehicles cost us $800.00 in a 3 week period, now the house heater is having problems but that should be under warranty. I'm glad Jackson is ok, that must have hurt. Love the jewelery and jars! My mom could certainly use one of those, but everything in her house is blue! I think we're going to go visit her for Thanksgiving, I'll have to take a peek into her master bathroom, I know the guest bathroom is blue with sailboats.
We went out last night and I had a wardrobe malfunction so I ended up changing into street clothes, which was fine. I had a feeling me and my costume were going to have an argument, and we did. We had a great time though, lots of original ideas people put together. Got to see a friend of mine, she's from Las Vegas but moved to Hot Springs, that's when I met her, when her and her long time boyfriend broke up she moved to Tulsa to be closer to her mom and sister. She came down here for Halloween and she said that she's not going to be back for a long time. I may have to take a trip up to Tulsa, my dad lives in Joplin, MO so it's not far from his house.
I need to get off of this, I have a lot of planting I want to do today, just waiting for it to warm up a tad.
Chris, it's more a peach... but I see it as a peachy beige...
Crissy... I can make a blue one if you'd like... let me know... sailboats would be a fun challenge.
Don and I walked all over the flea market at Canton today... miles and miles of walking... I'm so exhausted. the only thing we bought is some Christmas wrap (get it there every year because it's dirt cheap), and some dips in a jar... nothing else inspired us, so we came home.
I should sleep really really good tonight... just waiting till it's dark... *** GAWD, I feel old right now***
Here's the set I made for Phyllis' mom... not seen on Etsy.
NOTE: I really don't like doing pairs very much, but I will...
And now, I think I'll go get a shower and get my jammies on... then wait for DARK so I can go to bed.
Edited to add: Lotion isn't just used in the bathroom... by the kitchen sink, and on a bed side table are also good places for them.

LOL-heck Auntie BJ-I don't even need dark-I can close my eyes some days outside in full light and start falling asleep!!LOL
Last night we all gathered at SIL house and looked through Grandpa's old albums-he even had letters that Chris's siblings had written him over the years-some in crayon. It was nice to see the pics and read the letters. The viewing went well, but I couldn't go up the the coffin. This is my 1st funeral since I was 5 and I just couldn't do it-it was creepy and I expected him to sit up and start talking to us all and asking for hugs. Of course Jonathan has gotten passed around like you wouldn't believe and Chris is trying to get his work to forgo his last week of training as the place he was supposed to go is having some serious issues and he more than likely won't learn anything there....
Good morning, everyone!
Stacey - I'm sure your grandpa would have enjoyed seeing Jonathan being passed around to all the family so there was joy at his funeral. After all, a new little life was there. I can appreciate how you must have felt about seeing your grandpa in the coffin. You saw him in life, and not in death so you can remember him as he was. It's not always easy afterwards. (((((((((Stacey))))))))
a bit of news from me -
I got an email from them saying they want me to go through the 3rd step – peer interview, and it will be over the phone, early in the week.
These are their exact words:
“Hi Susan
My apologies for the delay in response to you. We had been travelling most of the week and returned to the office Friday.
We would like you to proceed to the next step in our process which includes a peer interview and will try to arrange this for early next week. This interview will likely be over the phone. Are there times that work best for you?
In addition can you confirm we have your references. We use Back Check to conduct reference checks and I will forward you a form to fill out so we can get this process started."
I'd given them 3 letters of recommendation, and a further 2 names to contact should they wish. In my email, I resent those names & letters. I told them Mon & Tues am would be best for the peer interview. After all, I don't want to be sitting around all day waiting for them. As I know there's nothing to worry about with the recommendations, as I see it this is just a confirmation, and I'm just waiting for when I start...... hope it's soon!!
Back Check is an outsource company for reference checks. HR would follow all possible policy before actually offering someone a job…. Siiiiiigh. But at least it looks like I’ll be employed, the question is WHEN!!
So, it's "good news"
Morning Sistahs.
Don's already out starting the burn barrel, so I don't have long here... there's a lot, and it's going to take both of us to get it done.
Susan, sounds like good news indeed. Hope it all happens soon for you.
Stacey (((hugs)))... yep, viewing a loved one in a casket is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do... I can relate. I too prefer my last memory of them as smiling and their hugs. Give Janice a hug for me, I know what she's going through too.
Well, I hear the day starting in my kingdom, so I better get started... ugh... I'm still tired from yesterday.
Everyone, have a good day.
yesssssss everyone have a good day!!
BJ I would love a blue one, but no sailboats, she has a sailboat dispenser already but doesn't have anything for the kitchen other than the bottle the stuff is bought in.
Big (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) Stacey, I've been to many many funerals and when my grandfather died I did view him in the casket and it was hard, especially since my mom was so afraid of someone stealing the stuff he wore every day she wouldn't even put his glasses on him. She didn't want to put anything on my grandmother either.
Susan that sounds like wonderful news! Woo Hoo!!!
Hi all just checking in I hate it when someone loses a family member but just remember they have gone to a better place.
As for help for caregivers I have a great bunch that comes in from Hospice wonderful bunch of ladies and I also have wonderful kids includes my grandchildren and 2 daughters,
Am sending my prayers to all better go now.
love to all
ps love the soap and lotian dispencers what kind of bottles did you use?
Crissy, d-mail me with your specifics and I'll get started on it.
Sissy, I cover any glass jar that has a metal lid... pickle jars, lay's dip jars, jelly jars, etc. The ones in the pic above were made from Starbuck's Frapachino bottles... the ones you get in a 4 pack at the grocery store.
Hospice helped me with my mom too... I felt they were there for me as much as for my mom. They even cared enough after she died to keep in touch to see how I was doing. Really, really a great bunch of caregivers.
Break time is over, back to work.
Edited to add: Forgot to say ... where is everyone? Jaye?
This message was edited Nov 1, 2010 9:18 AM
Good morning everyone.
Had started this about an hour ago, and real life interrupts. Kitties need attention and Susan.. I'm so glad you called. Hallelujah on the good news.. now you can make good plans!
I see Kimmie and BJ back here!! Missed you both but I know real life comes first.
Kimmie, we'll still be here when you ready to relax and sit a longer spell with us. ^_^
Your craft work is beautiful BJ. Hope you do get some sales.
Someone wise once told us... that feeling old is a state of mind.. but then she has her 'pirate' to make her youthful!!!
At least, PTL you and Don are in good health and still able to accomplish much around the house.
Stacey, hugs dear one and please relay my sympathies to Janice. If I were to leave thhis earth, I would want to do so in my sleep.
As for the picture, yes, I'd love to purchase one. The nearest Walgreen would be in Whiteville, NC. B
Cookie, how are you sistah? Is it right for me to assume that your Dad's playing the comforter role, now? You certainly are the best daughter any parents could ever ask for.
Sistah Judy... assuming hands on hips now.. did you try to call me? Didn't recognise the phone number, and of course as usual, we weren't home.
Lol on roof on the house still!!! At least you still have your vacation cabin if ever you need safe refuge!!!
Understand quite well on Steve needing his bike rides after work. Kel's one to just veg and listen to his Reggae or watch some reruns of Sanford and Son!! Can't move that man when he's in his 'zone'!!
Crissy, if you're comfortable with that decision, then do it. As much as I love animals, there are times when certain drastic actions needed to be taken for the animal's sake. If the tumors are cancerous, and the owner won't do, or can't afford, to do anything about it.. and there's no veterinary school close by... then it's humane to put it out of its' misery.
Sue, did your kids have fun trick or treating? Let me guess that Savannah had the most candy!!
Sissy Judy..... hang in there sistah. We'll continue to pray for you and your DH.
Twyla, if you're lurking... please take good care of yourself... dmail me since I don't do Yahoo anymore. Or use my new email addy:
JSBuffkin@gmail.com
LK, welcome home....
LK's Dad.... I bet you're glad to be with her again.
Better do the rest of my morning stuff before Kel gets home!!
Jaye thank you for that. I did talk to her Saturday morning about it and we both feel the same way, she can't afford to take care of it and she doesn't feel that the dog would live through a pregnancy anyway because she's so unhealthy with the tumors... and now the dog has mange. We both feel really bad for the dog and were talking about the necessity of it, but I think that that's the inevitable and we also agreed that it's better to do it this way than for her to come home from work and find the dog dead in the back yard.
She also said she needs to get rid of the pup, who is 8 months old and the same size as mom dog, but looks A LOT healthier. Anyone want an unfixed pure bread 8 month old female Rottweiler??????
Update - got an email saying that tomorrow at 9:30am Mtn, I will have my peer interview. Today someone will call me to walk me through the rest of the process - sounds interesting, right?
Susan...so happy for you....
Hey everyone! I am back in Texas, Dad is getting settled in! Coffe comes first, then I need to un-pack, and get some laundry done!
BJ, nice to see you back online! Sounds like that remodeling job is almost done!
Susan, sounds like you have that job just about wrapped up! Nice going!
Thank you for the good thoughts & prayers, everyone! I sure appreciate your support while I was playing at being an "unemployed person".... siiiiiigh - who am I kidding, I wasn't playing at all..... but now I move onwards and upwards!! ^_^
Moring everyone!
Coffee is ready. Nice cool morning here! Yesterday we tied the record heat for the day of 89 degree's!
They keep saying on the news that we are going to have a very cold winter, but so far, we have been very warm for this time of year!
