Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

"and His angels shall watch over you"

Good morning. Hope everyone had a restful Sunday.

I sure did. Didn't attend the church's homecoming, and Kel said I missed out on the great felllowship. One church lady packed a plate for me, oh my.. the food's so good. Had some "chicken bog", "chicken pastry", moist, moist turkey dressing and some of the best cakes. Carrot cake with yummy frosting and there was some sinfully delicious chocolate cake with CHUNKS of chocolate in it!
Ahhhh.. insulin to the rescue!!

Cookie, I'm so glad you got out and enjoyed yourself.
Don't think I'll forego a craft show either! Know nothing about Portland cement, but knowing you, you'll soon get your hands soiled making a birdbath!
So... how's the taste of that 'primitive roasted' turkey? If I were to attempt one, it will be uncooked and charred. Don't know how to control a wood fire. Give me the electric rotisserie! Lol.
Btw, sistah.. I finished the cashew brittles. Delicious!!!

Think the antibiotics are helping in the congestion as well. Will be trying to work on the sewing machine, water the plants since we're expecting a dry 70's week,

Wishing all a splendid week at home and at work.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Jaye, Sounds like your on the mend! Now don't go and over do it! Take it easy!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning Jaye!

That other tag to get here didn't work, but I found you anyway!

Sounds like everyone had you in mind with that plate Kel brought you. Glad you didn't have to miss out on EVERYTHING! Glad you're feeling some better.

Our weather is just crazy for this time of year. We're expecting a high of 84 today and 70's the rest of the week. Wednesday we have a 20% chance of rain and that's it. We are still so dry and I have plants that need to be moved and I just hate to dig them when the soil is so hard and cement like! Guess I'll water first and then dig....has to be done so no use complaining!

Bertie and I are going to a Feed Store sometime before the end of the month. They have their birdfeed on sale and the birds have been so funny. My feeders are all empty and they come and sit on the empty feeders and look in the bay window, like....hello?????? This feeder is EMPTY!!!! :o(

Glad you enjoyed the brittle girlfriend/sistah.....let me know if you want more.

Hugs to all of you and have a great week!

Morning LK!

LOL Joyce, that's hilarious!!! I can't pay my birds to eat the bird seed, not that I have any because I haven't seen anything other than a crow or Turkey Vulture in quite some time now, must be the dry conditions.

We broke a record this weekend! More days over 90* in a year than in recorded history, yesterday we were at 117 days I think, it's supposed to get 88* today, but if it reaches 90 that will be another day added. Still no rain in sight.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Was our 12th anniversary yesterday - very quiet.
Thanksgiving day, so very busy today. Chat atcha tomorrow......
Blessings on everyone!!

Jaye i hope your feeling better and did the rice porridge work ? yes we western women are spoiled aren't we ? in china a dryer is not very common as is hanging out your laundry as my Dh is learning LOLLL
I used to sew for a volunteer group that made baby clothes for preemies also blankies, quilts and them tube snake thingys that someone was talking about. We also did funeral clothes for itsy bitsy babies that God called upon to be his angles. No momma should have to go through the stress of looking for these things and then stores don't carry clothes for babys that are 4lbs or less . Most of the women were Mormon so the clothes were very special to what their religion reguires for burial. No matter the religion, it sure made some mama's happy to know that this was taken care of and one less thing to worry about.
we also made little hats. :)
good day to everyone
happy aniversary Susan

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy Anniversary, Kathy!!
For our 10th, we had a renewal of vows. I mentioned it, and the next thing I knew, Bob was arranging it with the pastor ^_^ Such a romantic! It's now been 12 years.
Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with 3 of our friends over for dinner. Lots of leftovers!
Then we were treated to a personal concert by one of them (our music teacher). She played about 15 pieces. My old piano hasn't had such a wonderful work out for years!! Or at least not since my mom owned it and played well........ My mom isn't able to play the piano anymore so that's why I've ended up with it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I lost everyone!! Who ate the cookie crumbs so I couldn't find you? Bet it was Cookie herself. Oh well, I am here--for a while anyways.

Belated Happy Anniversary Susan and Happy Anniversary to you and Michael Kathy. Howz you B doing?

I feel like I will live!! Babysat the girls last night for their parents to go out for my DIL's birthday. Oh my but hugs and kisses and "I missed you Grandma" do a lot for the recovery!!!!
:-)

Mom was moved to a skilled nursing home yesterday much to our surprise. We were under the impression it wouldn't be for a while but it appears the left hand does not communicate with the right hand in hospitals or among doctors!!!

Off to do some very delayed errands today.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

((((((((Marion))))))))) it's so sweet for the grandkids to miss/love their grandma!
As for your mom, it's better "sooner than later" for her to get into the skilled nursing home.
I know it's a bit of a shock to happen quickly, but it will be for the best, PTL.

I'll try calling you later - I tried a few minutes ago, but I suppose you're doing your errands ^_^

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you for the anniversary wishes, Marion.

I have an interview today @ 3pm, and another one tomorrow @ 8:30, both in the same building. I should hear today about the one I interviewed for last week.

Glenview, IL

Hello Sistahs & Bruddahs All!!!

Jaye, Sure hope you get to feeling Better...Had to take the weekend off from sewing, lol Think I got sewers elbow!!
Now to work on the Row Robins...

Cindy...OH What wonderful news!! Congratulations to you and Doug, Big happy smiles when i read you are getting Married. Sounds like it will be a beautiful wedding...Yuk on your puter being down, hope tHAT GETS FIXED SOON.

Susan, How nice you have interviews!! Wishing you much luck...

Marion!!! So glad your home...Awe, getting hugs and kisses, so sweet. With Mom being in the nursing home, I sure hope that gives you some relief. I hope that things go well there and she recovers...Many Armwraps.

Happy 9th Anniversary!! May you have many many more.
and Happy 12th to you Susan!!

Joyce, Glad you had a good time "camping!" ohh and how fun to go to the craft sale! Woohooo, guess who WAS able to wear her Sistah ring this past weekend!

OH MY gosh so much to read and catch up on...Stacey, Hows it going with Baby Jonathan home...OMG, just loved the picture with him and Grandma, your mom!! Wow, you look just like her!

We are having fantastic weather, So my big plan is getting to work outside! Oh, got one more push from my Garden Party Roses...A beautiful cluster of 4!! Will take picture this afternoon.

Waiving Hiya Sue!! See you are just as busy as ever...Hope all is good.

Crissy, Wow, sounds like your conference are very very busy, I've only been to one and yikes it was a non stop event...So i hope you get to take a little bit of time for some RR...

OH gosh so much to report, and i still have a tone of reading to do.

So, Got to work outside, it going to be glorious, need to DO a ton of stuff.

So for now will bid you a GREAT afternoon.
See you in a bit, I will take a break.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you for the anniversary wishes, Judy, and the luck on my interviews.
Watching "What Not To Wear" and the woman reminds me of my figure type, and what I wear. Good show to watch, just before an interview!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day sistahs!

Crissy, no chances of rain here neither but not in the 90's, thank God. I hope the heat there will soon subside, and you be having 'normal' fall temps. But it looks like this will be another year where temps can go askew for some states.

Poor birds, Cookie. Did you get some feed?
I'm lucky that I don't have to dig any of my plants up for the winter, if not, I would have to hire a backhoe!!!
What's left of my tropicals are all in pots above ground. Unlike yours.. poor you...

You must be stuffed from all those good food, Susan!! And how romantic Bob is to attend to your anniversary wishes. Did you cry a little?
God be with you on all your interviews, Susan.

Sue, I'm having chicken rice porridge, again today. Comfort food for the Asians!
Somewhere 'else' we were chatting on burial quilts, and here you are talking of baby clothes fitting for a religious burial. Interesting.

My Singapore family still do not own any clothes dryer, as it's 88* all year round. They dry their clothes on bamboo poles. Each home in those highrises (sometimes as high as 25 stories) are equipped with tubular 'pole holders'. It's a feat to secure these poles laden with clothes, over the rear balcony railing!! Those living on the ground floor are much lucky, as they are allotted some open ground space with racks for the poles.

And... then there's Zi, living in France, with NO dryers neither!! Think most Europeans do without dryers as utility bills are high.
So.. Zi just hang the clothes on the balcony! And if it rains, she makes use of her son's room, to dry them!!

Happy anniversary Sis Kathy!!! Think brother Michael should be checked whether he still retains his sanity!! Joking Sis!
You both are indeed made for each other. Wishing you many more years.

Maid M, I agree with Susan. Tis better earlier than later.. provided she's "A" okay to be without the hospital's care.
Our Lord knows that you and your sister need some help too.
Oooh.. I'm sure those affections thrown at you just want to make you disappear for a few days now and then!!! But your DGDs know how lucky they are to have a grandma like you.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((Judy))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Miss you sistah!
Sewers' elbow?? Now take some rest now and then from the machine for your back and neck too!!
The row robin swap truly demands our discipline, doesn't it?
Now who would have thought to join a gardening site, only to be involved in sewing!!! Lol!!
By the way, I'm getting questions when I wear my sistah shirt to the stores. Many asked whether I tie dye the shirt and what's a sistah reunion?

LK... what will you be sewing next? Come on over and sew a row for me IF you need something to do!! But, I know you're already on some other sewing projects!!
Thank you so much for the tea. Been drinking LOTS at night and that helps flush my kidneys!!!

Got some errands to run this afternoon, and then off to sew...
~ Not doing too much outside since I slept all afternoon yesterday.
Doctor also told me, because of my diabetes, my immune system is low. So, forgive me, if you kept reading how often I get ill.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am trying like mad to get the sunflower quilt done, or at least the top done by this Friday! My son's girlfriends Birthday is the 20th, but I have to go over for my arthritus Dr on the 15th, so I will at least show her what I am trying to get done for her Birthday! After that, I am done sewing for a bit, cause I am going to fly to Washington the end of the month to get Dad, and bring him back here for the winter.
Glad to hear the teas are working a bit!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - got weepy when we got our Anniversary card from a couple of elders in the church. And also when Nami played the piano for us (about 15 piano pieces, and she's soooooo talented!).
Otherwise, I was too busy thinking about it.
Today, I should be doing the dishes, but here I am getting ready for my 3:00 interview........ (and hanging about, HERE lol)

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Just got back from getting the seed. I got 25 pounds of niger seed and 50 pounds of black sunflower. The little birdies should be happy now!

I also picked up some ivy...Got a couple "Gold Child" and a couple "Glacier". They were having gallon perennials for $1.00 so I picked up 3 of those, too. AND they had a cute little statue for $2.99, so that had to come home with me, too.

Happy anniversaries to you Susan and Kathy....why didn't you tell me it was your anniversary when I talked to you, Sissy????HUH?????

Judy, glad you got to wear your ring...did you put tape on it? ^_^

Sounds like you're feeling better, Jaye...so glad.

Well, off to give plasma....had to delay my donation time today cause of our jaunt to the Feed store. Usually on my way home by now!

Sue and I are going to our first Hosta Society meeting tonight...should be fun!

OH MARION!! So glad you're home and glad mom is getting settled. Please try to stay with us for a while now, we miss you mightily!

Hello ladies,

I am home. And missing my honey poo already :( I hate this having to leave him. And my ISP put my account back to where it is suppose to be so I am going to post that pix of the Yellow brug that bloomed. I have another one that has only one bud on it.

Thumbnail by purpbutfly
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cindy, sounds like you have the serious case of the love bug! ^_^

Beautiful brug!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree, on the "love-struck Cindy" and the beautiful brug!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lovely brug Cindy. Looks like a Charles Grimaldi to me with it's short lateral twangs, and CG is always a profuse bloomer. Congrats!!

I'm here, will be doing a mad rush motion with the sewing machine, trying to get my swaps out.

Good luck LK, in finishing your sunflower top, and don't hurt your blocks in rushing!!! Bet your dad's eager to spend the holidays with you.

Cookie, how did that Hosta meeting went? Got a few tips? Any sales discount offered to members?

Have a wonderful day sistahs!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Had another wonderful interview this morning.
This now makes 3 jobs with Alberta Health I've interviewed for:
1. Casual, covering 47 other assistants, don't know if there's benefits, but she called this am while I was at another interview so I have to ask if there are benefits, first...
2. Yesterday, EA to the CIO - best $$ of all, the other side of the city, but as it's driving on a road similar to the Interstate, it's only a 20 min drive. It would be working for someone with a sweet temperament - someone who needs a "guard dog" so they don't take on too much!
3. Today - several positions being created, met the person(s) I would report to, and they need someone desperately, who would teach them what they need in a Secretary (I can sure do that!), with calm and tact (Yes, that's me!)
#1 & 2 pay the same as I got at my last job.
I got a call re: 1 - was at the other interview so didn't speak to her. I called back, and got her voice mail.

Need advice - what would you say if it were U, to the 1st one, which isn't the best option, but which I promised I would not leave for a "better offer" cuz that's not ME (I would give my "all" to any job I got).
My cousin said to get them to send the offer via email and give me a couple hours to consider it, meanwhile contacting the position I applied for yesterday to see where I stand for it....
Now as I haven't spoken to the woman, she just asked me to call, I don't know if she's calling to Offer me the job..... she didn't say, and I got HER voice mail LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, so much all at once! I would call her bcak and see what her offer is, then go from there. I think maybe I would wait to hear what the others are going to do also, but in the same hand it is hard when one really need a job, I would hate to turn one down, and the others not come through!
Keep us posted!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok - Just spoke to her...... no benefits, top pay is $2 less per hour than I got at last job....
I'm going to call the lady who interviewed me yesterday, and see where I am in the standings for That job....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey everyone! I have been at the vets office this afternoon. Our Siberian Husky has been really sick over the week-end, and we finally got in to see the Dr. Still don't know what is going on, but he said his blood levels showed some infection, so he gave us anitbiotics, and some pills for his upset tummy! He said if he is not better by Friday, he may need surgery! Todays bill was bad enough at $250.00!!! Can't imagine what surgery will be! OUCH!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So sorry to hear about your dog LK. Hope things clear and that he doesn't need surgery... How does he get along with all your heat? I thought they were cold weather dogs???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They are cold weather dogs, or are supposed to be, but he loves the heat. In the heat of the day, he goes out and lays in the sun for hours!
We are just praying these pills do the trick, and make him feel better. Kooshy is 12 and I don't think he could handle any surgery!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning..
LK, hope the antibiotics work for Kooshy. Vet bills can be exorbitant, but if you have a veterinary school in your area, you might be able to get help there.

Don't understand why vets' costs are just as much as humans! But then, to most of us, our pets are our kids.

Sis Kathy, if you're lurking, how's Sissy? What did the vet says?

Congrats Susan. Happy are we for you!! Now you will have less time to sew but then, the money's coming in.

Stacey, has Jonathan fell into a routine that allows you to sleep well?
Now that he's home, he has all your time!!

Didn't sleep at all last night. Another one of those nights when the heart's heavy and can't pinpoint why. I'm sure you all had moments like that.
So... I cooked and did loads of laundry. That out of the way, I'll be able to work a little in the garden and continue with the sewing.
Weather's turned chilly this morning and the day will be in the high 70's.
Perfect gardening weather.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey...Sis....the meeting was fine. Not really much talk of hostas since it was a carry-in. There was a man there from the Cinci club though that brought some hostas for the raffle...Neither Sue or I got any of the hosta but we did get a little Scott's fertilizer..and I mean LITTLE...there were 15 of us that didn't get a prize, so they opened a bag of "singles" and passed them out to all who hadn't won anything. The lady next to me was so nice though...she got a Scott's bag with a box of fertilizer in it and she offered the fertilizer to me...(well, I had been a little mouthy trying to get them to call her number....maybe she thought she owed me), she said she just got a box so she'd like for me to have it. I said "SURE!"

Tonight my friend and I are going to LaComedia Dinner theatre to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels...should be fun.

LK, so sorry to hear your pup is sick....that's just like having one of your kids sick...you'd rather it be you...with a pup, they can't even tell you where they hurt.....:o( Hope the pills do the trick.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone! We are praying the pills work too!
Jaye I wish there was a vet school here, but not in this little town.
You make sure you get anp today, and don't wear your self out!

I am off to the sewing machine, be back later!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Running through really fast as I am sick and do not want anyone to catch what I have!! I hate being sick, so much fabric so little time....................

Glenview, IL

Hi ho the dario a gardening we will go...

Thought a little tune will pick you all up, giggle giggle.

Jaye, sounds like it time for a ringle jingle! Got to sigh, usually this time of year is very bad, but guess what? I am in better spirits then i have been in for years. Going OUTSIDE, yes I am screaming that. ROFLOL, so much to do, been putting it off and well, hands on the hips, My bit of nature is yelling at me for some tender loving attention. Now the sun is out and all my gloves are clean, and they are not too happy so, got to get a dirty and put a smile back on their fingers, lol...got plants to get in the earth, weeds to yank, compost to turn, leaves to rake, branches to gather and wood to stack,....YIKERS, Toooo Mahch! lol better quit thinking about it and get to it!

Sending you Giant ARM WRAPS!! To all.

Marion! So glad to see you post, bummer your sick, sending extended arm wraps, (don't wanna get sick) I hope you feel better quick!
Did you ever get my package??

Hey Sunshine, so glad you went to your meeting! LOL, no- no tape was needed, Sistah ring slipped, with a bit help of my 'forcing' it on the right finger...Wore it the whole weekend, and you bet I felt your love all the while...Showed everyone, LOL, ate all the carmels, yum and didn't bother to share either! snicker snicker...

Waiving Hello with a big happy smile, Out the door I go...Hmmm, if i stare at it and tell it what to do, think the garden fairies will get it done, hahahah, I so wish!

Have a great day everyone!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

vet thinks she is LAZY, but that was going by the blood work he did 3 months ago. i still say her heart and kidneys are bad./
my daaughter says put her to sleep, then have her stuffed and put her on the back of the couch. says then we wont miss her, because she sleeps there all day anyway

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on your DD, Kathy!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LK-hope Kooshy gets to feeling better!!

Susan and Kathy-HAPPY ANV to you both-sorry I missed them

Thunder-he doesn't like his hands wrapped and hates his feet contained. I saw something online called the Fisher Price Rock and Play and if what we are trying right now doesn't work, that will be the next purchase. He likes a slight incline, so I put a blanket under the mattress st the top. He doesn't like how big the crib is, so I bought a pillow to put at his feet and rolled up 2 towels to put next to him. If we move them a little further away every night in a couple weeks he should be good to go...

I am trying to remember what else I read and it is all slipping away....

AUNTIE M!!!! So glad to see you are home and back with us-I sure missed you!!

Things here are going OK. We are trying to get into a routine that works for Jonathan and for us. Chris left on Tues for his training. He will be in Minneapolis for 2 weeks, the Fargo for a week, the Indianapolis for a week. My mom will hopefully be able to stay until he comes back. I am thankful to have her here as there have been a couple times I didn't know what to do and if I had to get up for all the feedings, I would be a walking zombie!!LOL I do the 2am and 5am ones, she does the 8pm and 11pm ones. So I end up going to bed at like 8 and trying to get some sleep. It is kinda of funny-it seems that I end up with the 8am and 11am feedings and she ends up with the 2pm (sometimes I am napping) and the 5pm (I am usually making dinner)-I thought that was kinda funny.

The other day we were giving him a bath and Mom was standing towards the end of the tub when he all of a sudden started peeing-he got it on the counter and the floor until she put her hand up to deflect it away-we started laughing something fierce. We had to clean after the bath, but that was OK. Between that and his adult sounding farts (I am so serious on that) we laugh at him a lot!!LOL We have been doing some serious spring (well fall really) cleaning when he is sleeping. We are planning a trip to go see my Grandma here soon.

Mom C and I pitched in and got the CD from the pic place so we can make our own pics. It was $100 and when you consider all the pics she wanted and a package for us (the smallest one), with 2 additional pics, we would spend more than the CD. This way peeps can have pics and jus have to pay for the cost of the pic itself...so if anyone wants, it is $0.19 for a 4X6, $1.59 for a 5X7 and $2.99 for an 8X10 and then whatever mailing costs.....I know some liked them and wanted to get one until they found out how expensive they were. This way is much cheaper.

Yesterday Mom C stopped by to get her Jonathan fix and she brought my Bday present. It is a set of fairies on leaves that is a fountain that I told her I wanted a couple mos ago from Collections-soooo cute!!! Then she brought something for Jonathan. When I browsed through the hotel gift shop, I saw the cutest piggie bank. It was a yellow giraffe with different colored spots on it, sitting on it's legs and I fell in love with it. It was $20 and I couldn't rationalize spending that on a bank....I took a pic to show Chris and ended up showing both her and my mom. The box yesterday had that bank in it!!! I told her I almost liked it better than my own Bday present!!LOL

There are some new pics that my mom and I have taken that I thought you might all like to see....
