This year seems to be flying!
Coffee Break # 45 - Hello October
All years seem to be flying....once I retired I can't believe how fast the time goes.....now I sound like my Mom.....
It's crazy how fast time flies
I luv this month. mmmmm Turkey Day mmmmmm
I found a Canuck/US friendly bank.
Oh yeah, what day in October is your Thanksgiving day?
October 11th. I haven't decided if I should fast to make more room or eat like an oink to stretch my stomach to make more room cuz I plant on marathon feasting. I have finished the morning menu already:
Waking:
coffee and baileys
smoked oysters on wheat things
smoked salmon on rye crips
Dawn:
eggs benedict
marmosa
Breakie:
veggie omelet
sourdough toast
marmosa
Midmorning:
honey garlic baby sausages
tomatos with feta and herbs
marmosa
(pause for late morning nap)
Next up: noonish menu
Actually it's mimosa (oops) - champagne and orange juice
lol
That's a lot of food!
So go to the dr and don't even see a dr I see a nurse practitioner, she tells me my lungs are clear, so that's good. Probably some kind of allergy thingy(doesn't suggest any allergy testing or anything) gives me a presrip for nasal spray...ooooo thanks for your help, geez. I pick up the script and reading the info...it has all these wacky side effects AND the medication does not work immediately may take 1-2 WEEKS for it to have effect.....SERIOUSLY?????? Guess I just spent $20 on a medication I won't be using.
ARGH! Sometimes the side effects just aren't worth it FlowAjen. It's going to be alot of little courses with palate cleansers or physical activities to break it up.
My allergies have been bad lately - even with Allegra.
They said ragweed is really bad this season
Dnut, I just finished a book by Louise Penny...Still Life....takes place in Quebec.....folks were celebrating Thanksgiving with leaves on the trees....I'm confused, then the author states Canada's Thanksgiving is in Oct. Good book.....I got book 2 in the series from the library, hope it's as good.....
This is just outrageous.
I just watched an ad from Mc Cormick Spices.
They are putting out a card with premeasured stew spices ( including salt and pepper) .
Cant anyone take out a measuring spoon these days?
I just throw some in, no spoon required!
No - people are morons.
That's how I do it debi, and taste it, I do not like salty stuff, aside from that it is not too healthy anyway.
Usually I have no problems with allergies but a couple of daus ago my head felt twice its size and constant pain from one temple through the eyes to the other side. not know what hit me. Decided to take some Excedrin, after a short while it went away.
Talk about salt:

This is from my private e-mail.
She and I really burn up at how people are being led around and made to feel helpless.
"Just to play devil's advocate: Think of all the jars of spices you bought to try out a new recipe and used a quarter teaspoon. Easily half of the stuff on my spice shelf is in that category. Okay, stew maybe wouldn't qualify as a new recipe for us, but maybe for others. That said, it's just an extension of having cars that tell you where to go, phones that do almost all your thinking for you, entire meals that are pre-pared, yadda yadda yadda. Baaaa! Baaaa! A nation of sheep. Just keep us sated with our plasma TVs and xBoxes and the likes of Carl Paladino will lead us. Arghhhh!
(see what you started?)"
LOL
don't get me started either!!!
I was at the grocery store this morn and talking with the ladies in the deli and one was telling this story last week she was by herself and the rotisserie chicken had to come out, she had previously set up the open containers for the chickens on top of the counter, as she walking back to get the chickens a lady walks up to buy something, deli lady says "I'll be with you in a second" she comes back out the lady is gone and all the containers are shoved off the top of the counter.....the lady then proceeded to go to customer service telling them what she did and why.... "she took too long to come back"
SERIOUSLY?????
TOOOOO Bad the customer was sooooo stressed out from not taking time to breath.
If she took time to learn to cook she wouldnt have needed the deli. lol
She will probably be first in line for the pre-measured McCormick spices toooo.lol
Those spices probably saved precious nanoseconds out of her day.
Can you tell I'm still burnned by that ad?
LOL
I saw something similiar at the store, geez now can't remember what it was???? See it was sooo dumb I blocked it out of my mind.
Ge, guilty of buying those Mc. spice packs for my DD(newly wed) and told her to keep the packets so she knows how to do it with her own spices. This was just for easy recipes...now she can use her own spices and follow the amounts on the package. Put her on a PC or Insurance forms and she'll fly right by you. Give her a measuring cup and a cook book and she's lost!! LOL
My GD doesnt understand cooking, eats only Tostino Rolles and Mac and Cheese.
GS is in college and on a budget, he is always asking for recipes.
I always say " Desperation is the mother of invention"

Who's the father??
I don't buy much of prepared anything....an exception is Amy's Organic Indian food, because once in awhile I need to eat & run, & never make Indian food....that said, I suppose I should learn, & freeze my own......
Einstein?
Perspiration.
I'm a herbie so I throw things in by the handful. I do think it would be fabby for some of the expensive spices like saffron. If someone was only going to use it once for a special dish they wouldn't have to pay the mucho bling for a whole jar. I'm going to check them out to see what receipes they have. T'will be boggling to see what they have.
Dont make me go there Victor
Actually on my job list is to clean out the spice cupboard, many have sat unused for quite some time I'm sure.
That's on my list too. We have too many duplicates!
I took a cooking class(Indian cooking) and the teacher told us to toss spices that were over 2 years old. Colonies of unwanted kritters set up housekeeping in your cupboards.
Then let them toss them!
This is a horrible story. I hope they upgrade the charges.

that is so sad
Yes. Been bothering me all day since I read it this AM. How can you do that to someone?
