That was the buy of the year, Thom!
What have you ordered or would like to 2010/2011 #10
This year, same garden center, same 50% sale, I picked up ITOH 'Morning Lilac.' I think they got a bit wiser to the different types of Peony that they sell. All of the tree peony were about $40-45, the ITOH were about $25-30, and the herbaceous Peony were in the $10-25 range, depending on pot size. This garden center also offers a customer appreciation card, for every dollar spent you get so many points, and quarterly you will get a gift card to their store. So, I got a $20 gift card, bought a bale of straw, 3 (what I affectionally call porch mums), a few gourds, and 2 small pumpkins, and ITOH 'Morning Lilac.' Total price with the 50% off, the gift card: $11.39! I wish they made coupons for plants, I'd so be a clipper :-)
I'm hoping that 'Morning Lilac' blooms next Spring/Summer, it was about ready to burst forth from the pot when I picked it up.
Great deal, Thom! And Weeze, too! I haven't seen anything I like on sale here....not enough competition.
Oh another great deal Thom. I am looking forward to pictures of all these goodies. I miss being able to cruise the nurseries for good sales. Glad you found such a good deal again.
went to soj's home today to pick up my lantern - unfortunately my lantern had a chip on it so i will have to get a replacement.
have to say even the late fall (and i promise i would wear rose colored glasses) christina's yard is quite impressive - a very nice choice of jm's (will have to consider waterfall jm) and other really nice trees (ace of hearts redbud was nice!) that i will have to think about - her water features where very nice - the stream and pond was unbelievable even if it had been just about put to bed for the season.
And she's very good with a hammer!
Who needs a hammer?
To break Bill's lantern! (Try to keep up, Christina - if the jokes have to be explained they kind of lose something. ^_^)

Yes, I was saying I didn't NEED a hammer - did it with my bare hands (Try to keep up Victor - if the jokes have to be explained they kind of lose something. :-)
LOL
What Bill, no pics????
Hee hee!!
no pics of a damaged lantern jen - the replacement will be posted - wish i had the camera at soj's just for the waterfall jm
great come back christina - we need to keep the ny'er in his place:) or ask them the Jets score today
and victor before you respond my team is still in line for the first pick in the draft!
Yes - looks like they're playing for it! Jets sucked today.
I've seen Waterfall - nice but gets quite wide if I remember.
No they didn't, the Packers are just good.
Are you kidding? So many mistakes.
The team which makes fewer mistakes wins.
My Waterfall JM is actually pretty compact. I've had it for several years and it is maybe 3 feet wide. Bill, here's a pic from yesterday morning. It's blurry because I took it with my cell phone. But it's probably the best I'll get since I'm not likely to see the tree again in the light of day before the leaves start dropping.

Beautiful SOJ!!!
i here you about the light of day - took a long slow walk around yesterday afternoon to look about.
all of the dissectums at soj's were trimmed up to get a nice view of the branch structure which made me think i should trim mine more or at least some of them instead of having all giant mushroom looking dissectums.
Beautiful!!! How tall does it get?
it is a dissectum so they do not get tall - only if they are staked and trained which most of the ones she has are - you saw mine at the ru and they are only 4' high or so.
That's about right. This one is probably between 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall
thanks. Bill, I saw so much stuff at your house my head was spinning!
before or after you rolled in the grass jen?
also mine were about 8 -10' wide.
As to the football discussion, Pats won. Nuff said.
Really nice JM pics soj.
Hate the thought of turning the clocks next weekend. At least we get an extra week now.
my head was spinning that's why I needed to lie down...LOL
Waterfall is very nice.....
Made an order for next spring from Santa Rosa. Here is the list.
Gaillardia 'Mesa Yellow'
Agastache 'Apricot Sprite'
Echinacea 'Hot Summer'

Astilbe 'Delft Lace'
Echinacea 'Hot Papaya'
Echinacea 'Milkshake'
Penstemon 'Pikes Peak Purple'
Phlox subulata 'Purple Beauty'
Nice selection
pat what will you do in January?
Oh I know. I am really getting an early start, but wanted to get a few things locked up from them before they sell out. Hope not to go too nuts this year as space is at a premium unless more grass gets killed. They have nice plants at good prices.
Nice selection of echies, Pat. And anything penstemon is great....I love those plants!
Thanks Robin, I hope this penstemon takes. I had the same one a couple years ago and a critter dug it up over the winter during a thaw and I didn't notice. It is a really nice color bloom. I have 'Sweet JoAnn' that I got at the same time, that was just lovely this year and bloomed twice for a long period of time.
Nice selection, love the echies and that gaillardia is stunning!!
I have "Sweet Joanne" also....can't remember if it bloomed again or not!
Had never heard of Sweet Joanne had to go look it up..it's lovely!
just ordered 9 (3 sets of 3) peonies from van engelen - they are having a 40% off sale - they do have a $50 min order requirement, although they waved it for me since i had placed a large order a couple months ago.
Oh nice. Which beauties did you select?
