Have you ever purchased from Nourse? I got the best raspberries there this year. We've been eating raspberries all summer.
What have you ordered or would like to 2010/2011 #10
No, never have...will have to look into them, thank you!
Went to our local little store out here in the sticks and was surprised to see Lupine seeds for sale. I started to giggle as someone is making money. They went and collected Lupine seeds along the roadways and packaged them up and got the store to sell them for $2 a pack of 40 seeds!!
Enterprising soul!
That was my niece's husband 1st job in Camden, Maine!
Collecting Lupine seeds Robin?
Yes....he would sell them to the tourists.
What a dream job! Although probably the pay scale is not high.
Thank you for the hellebore information. Our blueberries are the little wild ones especially one bush at the corner of the house. Our low bush berries got shaded out.
Those wild blueberries taste darn good!
Victor, I probably missed it, but where are you buying your hellebore from at this time of the year? I could use a few more now. Thanks, Patti
Deer Resistant Plants again.
Victor, thanks, my mental abilities have been over drugged recently. I will go check them out. Never used them before, but obviously you have been pleased. Patti
Yes - been buying from hom for ten years or more. Feel better!

That is a nice site Victor, have them bookmarked for some future purchases.
We expect lots of photos!
i have had good luck with DRP - might have to go back and try the daphne's
nice list patti!
Yes - nice list, Patti. Hope you mentioned you're a friend of mine.
Victor, I did it on line, so I didn't talk to anyone. Not up to that yet, but I will email them at some point and tell them that I heard of them via you.
A really nasty day outside and my day wasn't great either. I was too confident yesterday. I think I need some fresh air and a walk, so I hope tomorrow is dry and I feel better.
In the mean time I need to go over all the bulbs I have stored in a cool room and make sure I am happy with where I am planning on planting them. I have them all divided up into designated bags by beds and they are all entered in my journal so I can just look at them on line and see what needs adjusting and then shift them to a different bag. It is like a big puzzle. And a good thing to do when I am in bed. Patti
Yes...it's funny when you can't take time to rest, you really want to be in bed, but when you're confined to bed, you are just itching to be up & about.....take it easy, Patti....planning is always good.
Robindog, you got that so right.
Victor, I sent Dave Jensen, Deer-resistant Landscape Nursery, an email singing your praise. Albeit, I am a horrible singer.
Today I had a rough start, but feeling up to at least peeking away on the computer for a bit. Damp and rainy still, so no strolling about in the garden, yet. Patti
Hee hee - no need to sing, Patti! Thanks. Happy to hear you're feeling better. Nasty day here.
Just a reminder........a good tip from Select Seeds
"In cold winter areas of the country, zones 3-8, hardy annuals planted in the fall often produce earlier and stronger plants than spring sown seed.
By fall sowing, just what time during the fall do we mean? As a rule, the time to plant is November. The seeds are broadcast on the surface and will not germinate until spring. However, these seeds will germinate sooner and often produce stronger plants than even the earliest spring sown seeds. "
For All Regions:
(zones 3-10)
Annual Poppy
Calendula
California Poppy
Coreopsis
Cornflower
Larkspur
poppy laurens grape
Glad you are feeling a bit better Patti, take it slow and don't over do.
Nice reminder pixie. I am hoping the birds don't get all the seeds that are still out there in the garden.
Yes - those dang birds.
I think mice eat them, too.
after visiting soj's home and seeing her ace of hearts redbud i had to add it to my collection of rb's - just ordered one from a new source called buck run nursery in PA - supposed to be three footer and as wide in a 5 gal container. w/shipping it was still $49 cheaper than rarefind and with the frieght it was still $20 less before freight
soj has a really nice mature one she got locally to her this spring.
the ace has same leaf shape although smaller leaves and is a compact dwarf that will get to 8" and as wide.
will report back on what this looks like when it shows up - could be another good place or i wasted some $$
oh - they have two more left:)

Such an enabler you are. Sounbds lovely though. Will be interested to see the pics. Where is it going? You will have to start knocking down walls and kill some grass pretty soon won't you?
Sounds like a nice tree, Bill! Good luck with it!
killing grass is a good thing - no idea - i will over winter it and decide in the spring - there is more bed expansions planned:)
Received my Deer Resistant Plants order. I'll open it tomorrow.
Bonus.....
i am sure it will flower - it takes a few years - mine is a baby compared to your nice one!
just picked up 10 pkg of english bluebells for $3 for 10 and $5 shipping from gardeners supply who is having a 75% clearance of fall bulbs.
Oh nice find there Bill. Have often thought about trying them here. Will be interested to see how they do for you.
same here pat - you need a lot so i hope the 100 will do:)
I bought a dozen tulipa violacca today. they grow 4" tall & are very small bulbs like crocus. I didn't like any taller plants which were left & we have tons of daffodils including those naturalized in front of the stone wall along the road.
forgot to mention that last night i told my wife i had ordered the ace of hearts redbud (she likes redbuds, saw soj's and commented on it) - here is what she had to say,
"what are we going to do with the catastrophe you are making out there" - can you believe she said catastrophe!!
"what if something ever happened to you and we had to hire people to keep it up"
"do you have any idea how much that would cost"
"how much could i sell all of the trees and shrubs for and where would i find the buyers"
not much of a gardner i guess - my response was i hadn't even started yet:) better keep me healthy!!
she does know there is another batch of jm's to be ordered next spring
Starting to sound like my wife.
