found some gold/cooper/silver dipped japanese maple leaf xmass ornaments!!
What have you ordered or would like to 2010/2011 #10
they sound cool!
order to be placed soon - kinsmangarden.com - i just checked the web and much more expensive everywhere else - already have three - maple, oak, and another - a japanese maple is a have to have:)
Used to get their catalog - expensive stuff.
that is why i went to the web to check prices - they were the lowest by far - i was surprised and they were not even listed in the search?
btw they have bloodgood and full moon maple.
Nice!
Placed an order with Deer Resistant Plants for hellebores.
Colors?
Most are a mix - the Sunshine strain hybrids. The named ones are pink and bright maroon.
nice!!!!
Sunshine strain is the ones I bought on a co-op here last year....will let ya know what colors I got when they bloom next year. LOL
I already have many of them. Rose, purples, creams, etc.
picked up some of them myself in that coop - although i think it will be a while before any bloom.
They've been very good performers for me. Very reliable with great foliage.
I too got some from that co-op and the foliage has done great so far
Picked up three JMs yesterday @ Dave's Nursery.
what did you get? And how is his nursery???
His nursery is very nice. He has 4 greenhouses devoted to JMs and 2 other greenhouses that I didn't go through, but I imagine they're for the conifers. I got Emperor I, Elegance and Bonfire. The Emperor and Elegance are planted already, not sure where Bonfire is going to go, that one was an impulse buy.
How far of a trip was it for you?
Bonfire is very nice - I have it.
i do not have any of the three - i see lots of emperor 1 as a subsitute for bloodgood at nurseries - good luck with them!
Nice selections of hellebores Victor. Contemplating getting some for under planting of dogwood 'Venus' if I can get a hold of one next spring. Bill had a nice suggestion there, so now all I have to do is find one locally. Did order a couple last roses from the going out of business J&P roses. http://www.jacksonandperkins.com/gardening/PD/34442/ and http://www.jacksonandperkins.com/gardening/PD/39674/
Like the own root and disease resistance. Hope they live up to the advertising. Have had good luck with their floribunda roses in the past. They will ship next spring.
Glad to hear that Victor. Dave really sold me on that one, actually all three were his suggestions. Emperor is a nice red that I wanted to go next to Beni Kawa. I think it will be a nice compliment for Beni's red bark.
Deb, it was an hour trip, but the nursery visit was secondary to a hike in the hills and a huge corn maze that we never went through. There must have been a hundred kids at the maze so we decided to opt out. We also stopped at a quaint restaurant for lunch. All in all, it was a fantastic day.
ngam, be careful where you plant the hellebores. I found out the hard way that planting them close to the house is a baaad idea.
And Elegance in front.
Louise, why are planting the hellebores by the house a bad idea? I have some right next to the foundation on the east side of my house.
Eek?
I don't know if it's the cultivars I have, but their fragrance is something akin to rancid meat. Most of them haven't bloomed yet as they were just liners from a co-op. I'll probably find out this year if I'll have to move them away from a window.
edited for sentence to make sense.

Ah, thanks. They don't smell the best. I never noticed that bad a smell though. But luckily mine are not by a window. I thought maybe you were going to say they were strong enough to crack foundation, LOL.
Where did you go for lunch Weeze?
Tewksbury Inn in Old Wicke. Seemed like "The" place to go in town...actually the only place to go. But it was good!
Scored a coup at Lowe's. Winterthur Viburnum, Greywood Hydrangea and a Wiegela. Total cost: $21.00.
Nice Bargin!!!!!
very nice score! checked my local lowes and they had nothing left. great looking trees!
Cool. Love Winterthur.
I never noticed the nasty smell, but a good thing to keep in mind when planting hellebores, thanks.
Nice find on the viburnum and other shrubs too.
Could have been 'stinking hellebores' - foetidus.
wow, good find!!!
