Crissy, feel for you, those hot flashes are the pitzzz...sure am glad I'm over them, at least for now..

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG my girlfriend in Ireland just sent me something regarding my day..too adorable..if I've you e-mail I'll send it, if you don't get it, d-mail me it again because I just might have it on home computer..

Debbie, seeing as we're both having bad days, you got to know this one is just for us..lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty, That was priceless!!! I think we all have days like that though. It's all in how we deal with them.

I've reached the point where the only person I worry about pleasing is Norm. As long as he is happy, I'm happy and if I can make someone else happy then that's great but if not - not. I really get upset when my kids act like your Mom and think I'm here to drop everything for them. Of course, if I were to call them on that statement, they would deny it all day. They seem to forget that we DO have a life. I had to chuckle as I was writing that. Stacy had given us tickets to a show as a gift and then called and needed a sitter. She didn't realize she wanted us for the same time as the tickets were for!!!! Duh?????

No matter what you decide, I hope it's for YOU.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Betty.
Crissy, better be careful your not coming down with something, with you just getting rid of that cough!

Betty that email was so funny! Thanks!

Think we all needed a chuckle today..

I never got it, Betty, and I know you have my email..... both your at work & home emails.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Betty - I "Feel" your anxiety...and ITA with what others have posted. Go to Wonderland...buy whatever you want to buy. !! YOU DESERVE IT !

Debbie BIG HUGS !!! I had a very ....eh...."challenging" year last year, DS18's senior year... one of the 'incidents' he missed too many classes (why?) and I had to take off work to report to a meeting that he had to (miss school) be at...no one knew where the meeting would be held... it was a total joke... sometimes they make "rules" without keeping the goal of the rule in mind... a total waste of time but I digress....

Yes Judy - TGIW ! Only a few more days till DH returns....but then what will that do? Will he clean the kitchen, clean up after pup, discipline the girls? NO probably not... LOL...

But will be nice for him to be back...

HUGS,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure why Susan, I'll check when I get into the office this morning and send it to you.

Brrrr it's really cold this morning, didn't help that I left a few windows open.

Suzanne called last night to say she forgot to let me know that her car had to go to dealership for undercoating and could I meet her south of Barrie at 8a.m. so I'm in a rush, will have to gab when I get to work..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty! Drive safely!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I agree with the majority of what has been said. You spent and still do spend a lot of $$ on those you love and things like windows for your home, so if you choose to spend a couple grand on a trailer to make you happy, then the rest of them can sod off.

I too think of you want to hang out with the boys this weekend, then do that-plus, how many more weekends will the Wonderland be open?? Buffalo will still be there in Oct, but the odds are the wonderland will be closed for the season.

Grandma Janice did get to see him on Sunday and she will be here tomorrow to help taxi me around. Can't wait til I can drive again. She will come in the am and after we grab some breakfast, we will go to the hospital and then come back home to get a few things done. She will get to go home for the weekend and SIL is coming to help over the weekend since Chris has to go back to work tomorrow. He works 10-10 Fri and Sat, and opens Sun-next Fri where he will do the 10-10 for the weekend again. Thank God for Mom and SIL-otherwise I would be freaking out over how to get to the hospital and how to get some of the stuff done around here-still can't do a few things on my own yet.

Copied from SI-
Yesterday I got to give Jonathan a bath for the first time-usually they seem to do it right B4 we get there. Well, he was not a happy camper of course and by the time I got done the poor kid was horizontal in the incubator with his feet hanging out the hand hole thingie-LOL-it was quite a sight to see-it was like the Indy 500 for bathing. He is up to 40ML of food, but is still only eating about 15-20ML every other feeding from a bottle. The Dr came in and talked with us and told us how impressed he was with Jonathan's progress. As soon as they can turn off the blue light they will take him out of the incubator and put him in an open crib. When they do that they will "lowjack" him as I like to call it-put a bracelet on his ankle and if he comes within a certain footage from the doors leading out of the NICU an alarm will go off with his name and location to prevent baby snatching. A funny from yesterday-Chris likes to do this thing where he says "Daddy is going to eat your hands" and he makes num num noises and pretends to eat his hands. Yesterday he did this but said "Daddy is going to eat your nose" when he leaned over towards Jonathan's face he started freaking out. We all, nurse included, started laughing hysterically. I'm guessing he wants to keep his nose, but Daddy can have his hands-LOL Chris will have to work from 10-10 the next 2 days, so after today he won't get to see him until Sunday-I am sure it will be hard for him, but he opens every other day until next weekend again.

Betty-here is the pic with Grandma:)

Doesn't Jonathan look at peace in grandma Janice's arms..you'd best write all these little cute happenings down in a book Stacey, it's surprising just how quickly the years go by and believe it or not, you forget.. I have a friend who documented everything and gave it to her son at his wedding...it was a lovely touch.. Can imagine how Chris is not wanting to go back to work until Jonathan is safely home but he's got a family to look after now..job is a must..lol

OK, some of my life got straightened around, spoke with Greg and Noah has hockey Saturday and a game in Collingwood on Sunday, Braedon and Caleb have games Saturday and the weather says rain all wekend..that's that for wonderland, Greg thought all 8 of us could meet up next Sunday (weather providing) and have a family day at Wonderland. E-mailed Jeff and said I'd follow my original plan and take mom to Buffalo seeing as it's her birthday and I'd feel guilty not doing so, with her not being well, who knows what can happen .. got to telephone her BUT who knows, today is another day and she may have had a change of plans...

Got a few more photo's of the trailer that I asked for and see the carpet on the sitting area is a bit in need of repair..know it's only about $50. to replace and I'd be saving about $2,000. so will trust in the Lord, I'm busy for the next 3 weekends, if it's still there I'll take a run to London to see it, and in the meantime, the gentleman who is away who sells another brand of trailers will have returned (he anticipated end of September) that I can check his out and maybe brand new is the way to go...

Tonight I have George's wake, then will try and finish the chicken on Debbie's floormat, wasn't in a hurry because I wasn't going to Buffalo..lol..if I can do that I can bring the finish coat with me and have Debbie do 3 or 4 coats before she puts it on her floor...

There, do I sound as though I'm back to ME...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

I AM JUST SOOOO LAUGHING!

Jeff e-mails me and says how sorry he was that we couldn't meet up but that Caleb has a birthday party Saturday and Braedon is trying out for hockey ref. on Sunday but could you meet up somewhere for supper???

Then I call mom, thinking she'll be thrilled, says October 16th would indeed be better for her, could we leave it the way it was...

Got to tell you it's just too silly for words...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, your head must be in a whirlwind for sure! So are you crossing the border by yourself, or waiting till later to go with your Mom?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think I'm going to stay home, I've christmas blocks to get done, on a rain day could anything be better than sewing in your jammies..
also have material cut out for 3 more bags, would like to get them done so the kits aren't laying around..lordy I've enought to keep me busy for the rest of they ear..lol

Verona, ON

Patience is a virtue Betty and obviously you have it...... my goodness I would have exploded at DM after or even during the first phone call.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would love to, keep thinking I'm getting old and likely to aggrave my kids lol sooo best just deal with the changes.

It's raining so heavily, almost seems as though there is a texture to the rain..not cold enough for snow as it's 52 degrees, would have been a nice day for staying in bed, pull the cover over my shoulders and just rest

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Yesterday I went to my favorite farm market. They still had corn and some peaches left and I scoped them up. Pick up some Honeycrisp apples, too.

They had some many different varieties of pumpkins I couldn't believe it. Pink, white, blue, green and orange are just a few. I went back today and got a blue one to take up to Jonathan tomorrow. It will be his first pumpkin! The lady at the stand said she made a pink one for her granddaughter when she was a baby with eyes, ribbon hair and a pacifier in it's mouth. Sounded cute and I might do the same.

I pick up some corn stalks and put them around my my outside lamp post with a big pumpkin at the base. I've always wanted to do that. Put out my funny man with the bolts in his neck that I got at last years Halloween swap. He looks so good!

So glad I get to see Jonathan tomorrow. Haven't seen him since Sunday and he seems to be growing and improving by leaps and bounds. He will be home before we know it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are in a fall/halloween mood..just think Janice, won't be many years from now, if not this year, you could make Jonathan's costume..highlight of my grandchildren's halloween night is to give grandma a name of something they want to be and see her scramp to figure it out..

You'll see such a difference in Jonathan I'm sure, you are lucky to live within driving distance..what? about an hour?

If it weren't for rain I think I'd get all my fall decorating done this weekend because as you know...LOL...I'll be home with nothing to do!

Glenview, IL

Hi...

Brrrr, it's rainy and cold this day! Think it's going to be the same through the weekend.
So, will continue my Kitchen project. Then We have a 60th birthday party to attend.

LOL, Betty, sounds like you made a great choice about staying home to sew. Not sure how you stayed calm, I'm with Dianne, I'd a been screaming with all those minute by minute changes.

Enjoyed seeing the ladies art works, was wondering if Rose has joined you yet? LOL, head down in shame, never did the other 2 snowmen from the Workshop last year...The one I did, I gave to MIL, she liked it a lot. So, I can still work on the other 2 between now and Christmas! But...You bet, I've been wondering what We will do this year. Remember the Santa Sleighs? I did a few Small ones (ornament size) gave one to Aunti Jean, Well last year she gave it away as a last minute gift!! LOL, So I think I will make her a couple this year.

Anyway, Debbie and Betty, I sure hope your day is going better today.
Got a great giggle at your E-mail Betty.

Well, today I applied to some more jobs...

Yesterday, I primered over the Sunny Yellow paint job in the kitchen. Today, I did tone it down. So now it's a much more calming yellow.
LOL, it no longer blinds a person or screams wake up in a hurry!! But, NO One like the way it was, they didn't want to give it a couple days, so I finally agreed to redo it, and now I think I like it much better too.

In this picture it looks a lot brighter than it is, plus it isn't thoroughly dry. Hoping it calms down even more. But it's staying this yellow. Now to work on the lighter blue bottom half and touch up the dark blue, LOL I am not a very neat painter with out tape...Saturday, i will paint the ceilings, eggshell white...DH insists! OH...I am hoping the vote is good for Spiced Cider for the cabinet color.

Working on laundry while watching TV...Going to Jakes football game in a little while.

That's it, pretty boring, lol.

Dianne, hope your cleaning is going well, wish I had your energy to continue, but geesh, i am kinda tired today.

Hope you are all having a good day.

I think it's spectacular Judy, all you are missing is some complimentary pieces .. did you purchase new shades for your fan, see they are blue, or is that where you got the 'bright' idea for the blue??? lol

It's been a big undertaking for you as your kitchen isn't small..bet it even smells fresh....you'll need to set a vase of colorful flowers on your table that faces the street so you can sit have your coffee and take time to smell the flowers as you always seems to be rushing about! Do hope you get a response re your job search..guess Dave and Susan are still waiting for news..

Yes I remember the sleighs, you did a wonderful job on them..I found a bag in my cleaning endeavours with all cut and ready for iris folding..think I should have kept which car I sent to who, can't duplicate but don't want to waste about 40 cards.

My poor micro heater has been off/on/on/off all day long..can't seem to get warm..we ordered pizza for lunch so have a few slices for Rose's supper, George's wake is tonight, not looking forward to that, have difficulties with funeral homes so it will be a quick in and out..all the girls are meeting at 7:00 so am hoping to be home by 8pm.

Tubby, your computer working?
Bev, how's things going in your neck of the woods, are you and Scotty doing ok?

Verona, ON

Judy I love the colour of your kitchen! Nice and sunny and bright, just what I like. But guess what colour my whole house is except for the main floor BR? Yep just enough of a tint in white to give it a beige hint. We have alot of paintings, prints and carvings that we hand and DH just won't go with anything that will take away from them. When we built this house in 01 I chose blue for the whole downstiars and the main BR. Looked great in the BR with the blue tiles but downstairs it was just "very blue" The painters sent DH up to the farm house to ask if I really wanted to go ahead with the colour. Its beige now!lol
Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha Betty - if Tubby's computer Isn't working.... he can't tell you LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL guess he can't tell us can he Susan..you got me!!!

Dianne, he was right about the art getting lost in the color..so much easier when it's beige/off white because anything goes..
I do admire people though who are brave with color but I don't have it in me..

My living room/hallway is soft sage green, wallpaper boarder mid-way..I'd love to get ambitious like you all are doing and paint but that usually means having to redocorate and once you start it never ends..

Just got back from the wake, I don't think I've ever seen anybody in a coffin that looked more natural..we went as his painting group and everyone there must have heard George call us his 'harem' because that's all we heard.. and great comments about all the art that they brought in to show everyone..it was such a nice thing to do, even I was in awe and most of the items were things I helped him paint..going to miss him for sure..George loved his coffee/donuts so we all went to Country Style and had one!

Now time for bed, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday..work till 3 but it will be nice coming home and doing nothing for the weekend, well almost..Daney asked if I wanted to go to a concert on Saturday in Orillia, her boys are doing several Beatles tribute songs at the beach, then Suzanne reminded me that if I didn't go to Buffalo that I had her grandaughter's 2nd birthday party to attend so lots to do...

Night/night

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's sweet, Betty, for them to bring all his art work...... Glad it was a "good" wake (if there is such a thing...) for all. Glad you were able to attend, also.

Morning everyone!
Just wanted to let you know, that I will be MIA for the week-end. Going to San Antonio to see my Arthritus doc, and the Grandkids! I will be back Sunday night.
Hope you all have a great week-end.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drive safely LindaKay, enjoy your visit with kids..
As for the Dr. hope he has new meds that will help...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LK-enjoy the grands!!!

Betty-how frustrating!! I am surprised you didn't tell your mom something not so nice. I would have been hard pressed to take it with a grain of salt.

JUDY-I like the color, but think you and other might like it better if you soften the blue to a lighter shade-not a ton lighter, but a few shades lighter. Right now it is 2 primary colors which tend to assault the eye. I would keep the white chair rail and make sure anything I out up had either a white or blue frame to make it pop on the wall. I am a fan of using the same decor, just painting frames and such-cheaper that way too. Maybe put some ivy along the cabinets and cut out above the sink for a little extra something...just a few ideas is all. Take them, leave them, it is your kitchen:)

Copied and pasted from a couple other threads:
Yesterday Jonathan went up to 45 ML of food per feeding and he took from the bottle for me. Maybe sometime next week we can try the breastfeeding thing. Stupid lactation consultant called me yesterday and AGAIN tried to tell me I needed to rent one of the hospital pumps ($54/month) instead of the one I have at home and then made me feel like crap that I am only up to 7 pumpings a day instead of the 8-10 U R supposed to be at. I just listened and tried to get off the phone with her. Jonathan's billiruben (sp?) went down so they turned off the blue light and will test him again this am-if it continues to go down on it's own, he won't have to go back under it. Chris is very upset he has to go back to work today and won't be able to see him until 11pm tonight when he gets off. I knew he would be a little upset, but he is way more upset than I thought-we both cried. The dresser came yesterday and we both love it. Chris put it together and did an excellent job. Then we pulled the rest of the furniture back into the room and set it up and put the dragon wallies on the wall to add some decor until we can afford to get a couple of the pics we registered for. We sat in there for a little bit and talked. It was nice to get some of the feelings out there that we are both feeling. Of course both of the animals were like what the heck with all the new stuff and us hanging out in that room. Today mom is coming up and we will try to do breakfast B4 going to the hospital and hopefully after we can hit Meijer so I can get some stuff we need. My SIL is coming for the weekend to help out. Mainly they will be my taxi service since I can't drive and help with some household things. Need to get the rest of the stuff into Jonathan's room and the rest of his clothes washed and folded. I think that is all for now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh I hope so too, so many of the meds, make me so dopy, or so sick to my tummy, I don't llike to take them.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

At least you have an excuse when you are dopey-how many peeps do you meet that don't have that excuse and are just plain out there;)LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Too many!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are there no shots you can take that would be less of a problem..

Paul e-mailed us the following:

FOR 'EVERYRONE WHO DRIVES' …
My name is Captain Abraham Sands of the Ontario Provincial Police Department.
I have been asked by local authorities to write this email in order to get the word
out to car drivers of a very dangerous prank that is occurring in numerous cities.

Some person or persons have been affixing hypodermic needles to the underside
of gas pump handles. These needles appear to be infected with HIV positive blood.
In the Simcoe area alone there have been 17 cases of people being stuck by these
needles over the past five months.

We have verified reports of at least 12 others in various provinces around the country.
It is believed that these may be copycat incidents due to someone reading about the
crimes seen reported on the television.

At this point no one has been arrested and catching the perpetrator(s) has become our
top priority. Shockingly, of the 17people who where stuck, eight have tested HIV
positive and because of the nature of the disease, the others could test positive in
a couple years.

Evidently the consumers go to fill their car with gas, and when picking up the pump
handle get stuck with the infected needle.

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO CAREFULLY CHECK THE HANDLE OF THE GAS PUMP
EACH TIME YOU USE ONE. LOOK AT EVERY SURFACE YOUR HAND MAY
TOUCH, INCLUDING UNDER THE HANDLE.

Can you imagine someone doing such a thing...should be imprisoned!!!

It's Friday and it's the most glorious of fall days..as I drove the back concessions you could see the fog like mist, made it so serene..wish I had taken my camera with me! You almost felt like what you were seeing was a lake in the middle of mountains..geese were flying high, quacking away, think they were telling me goodbye, see you next spring.

I left home this morning 1/2 hr. earlier than usual so I could go to Canadian tire..they had 5 piece wrench set reg. $54.98 for $11.88, thought it would go well in Jim my step-fathers christmas sock, bought a few other things..spent total of $24.11 and receipt says I saved $72.94..I'll keep watching weekly specials and pick up an odd thing for the sock over the next few months...

Was just on MSN with Sharon, she's going to pick up an exercise unit which is usually $999.99 and it's on for $348.00..

There were so many items I could have come home with this morning but said, NO, think camper..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Stacey, blame it on the drugs..now that's the thing to do!

How was Jonathan yesterday and how are you feeling? hope both of your are improving.

You made me laugh Stacey and a thought came to mind, I've a friend who isn't much of a house cleaners..she keep a set of 'get well' cards at hand, signed, and when company come unexpected and she's not happy about the condition of her house re neatness, she sets the cards out..who get expect a clean house when you are ill...lol...do now when I'm dopey I'll leave a bottle of meds out and just say I haven't been well...

Victoria Harbour, ON

sitting here gabbing with Sharon..omg, look what she posts:

Sharon says:
I would like to do a couple rag quilts for gifts... but no material... and I have to get my machine from Terry again... also mom thought you were busy on the 16th and made a mistake on the date

Think I'd best get a card, write down the date and send it home with her when I see her tomorrow aft.

Told her Aunt Muriel is her only sister and seeing as she originally cancelled our plans in order to go to Darlene (niece) 40th anniversary that she'd best come and go if only for 1/2 hr. I'll do same.

I didn't get an invite..mom called me late last night to say Aunt Muriel thought I would be angry about having plans changed i.e. my not going to Buffalo because of the party so she was afraid to call me..

yikes...family!!!

Want one???

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that's unreal! I'm wondering if Dave is her child, they seem to change their minds about the same! LOL I shouldn't make fun of Dave so much, poor guy is having a hard time with interviewing and worrying if he got any of the jobs and all, and he's taking care of the whole house while I work but he does change his mind when the wind changes directions and it drives me nuts!! Sometimes it works in my favor though when he wants to do something that I don't, then he changes his mind and says that he doesn't want to go. I always just say "whatever you want to do, I don't care" but inside I'm jumping up and down! lol We're supposed to go to the Demolition Derby this evening and I'm waiting to see if he changes his mind on that, this is something that I do want to do!
Good grief, aren't family wonderful! No thanks, I have a hard enough time keeping track of Dave's brood.

LOL Stacey!! Blame it on the drugs! I sent you and Chris a congrats card and I was on the phone with the vet when I was filling it out, they asked me for my husbands name, Dave's first name is John, so I said John, and I think I wrote Johnathan instead of Jonathan because I said it when I was writing it, and I didn't expect the vet to care who my husband is anyway, they had my cats name and my name and address. If I did misspell his name I'm sorry!!

LOL Betty!!! That's great, just as long as the company didn't really know you, that would work!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you get to see the demolition derby..love them, our community fairs are now in full swing, most have the derby..think Coldwater which is only 10 minutes away are having their on Saturday night..

LOL yep, no sense getting riled up because he wants you to attend when there's a 50/50% chance he'll change his mind...you've got him down pat

Feeling better?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yea, my steroid inhaler is working, since I read the instructions about 4 days ago that you have to shake it up first! OOPS!! My ribs are feeling better too, but still not healed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That will take some time Crissy, you've coughed so much and then with infection, won't clear overnight for sure.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I wish I had family in this city, who cared enuff to do more than email. For goodness sakes, I get email from family in Other cities ........ I could do with more, here!!
Betty - send your mom out here LOL
maybe part of it's my fault, but I have invited them to things I'm interested in..... and they won't even invite us to Thanksgiving dinner (on Oct 10, in Canada)
ah well, I'm "family-less" here, in Calgary I guess...... EXCEPT for the church - they're a huge family of ours ^_^ and I love 'em to pieces!!

We have our monthly "movie night" at the church tonight - The Bucket List. I'll have to check the supplies to make sure we have enuff stuff ^_^
I'll need to check our supplies

Victoria Harbour, ON

they'll love the Bucket List Susan..do you get many in attendance?
