& Yes my clematis is very smelly I', Just sorry it is so far from the House . can you root clematis like other vines ??
well frankie is calling me chat more later today .

susie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie, that clematis is beautiful. I have never grown it, but it looks like it smells heavenly! How many plants are you dragging in and out. They can tolerate pretty cool temps, I would think when it hits the low 40's then I would think about bringing them in. It is the frost that will kill them, not the cooler temps. Maybe if you have just a few of them, you can wrap them in old sheets, or maybe some plastic like a garbage can liner if it will fit over them?
Or do like the rest of us, and take cuttings, root them for next year.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Deejay, everyone warned me that the clematis will spread, and for years I didn't have any problems.....then this year I have it coming up everywhere so rooting some might not be a problem. Wish I had known earlier cause as I was digging little trees I was removing little starts of the vine and I would of sent you some. I will look this weekend and see if I have any more I missed. I love the look but I must be the only person that doesn't like the smell. It is now over powering the brugs and the ginger.....

Taters, here is the gas pump. I thought I had posted pictures the other day, but I either didn't do (which is possible) or posted on another forum (which is possible)...LOL Short of plants I don't collect any one thing. I collect one of things. I have an old carhop tray, old mugs up rootbeer mugs, old orange crush sign, odd ball things like that, gas pump. Really want to do an outbuilding like an old gas station, car hop thing.

Wow, that is really nice! Do you remember using them, or your parents using them!
We had an old store back home years ago that had one, and the price of gas then was .29 cents!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Never used one of those, but I remember gas being .25 a gallon.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Me too.. gee, that was a long time ago, eh?
Joyce I am glad you like the old day things. Those things remind us of when times weren't quite so techie.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

wish we could go back to the hip hop days :) Back in those days our Parents Took Valium (Diazepam)
To Help cope with 7 kids a job & Housework ,

Now day a Parents think they need to stay drunk or use
coccain , or just drive their kids to the nearest lake to cope with Family matters .

well i have much to do today so it is off to get Dressed still in my PJ's & Sipping Coffee so have a great day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! What are you working on today Susie? Don't work too hard!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I don't remember the gas pumps as a kid, my Mom didn't drive but I could take the public bus anywhere in the city and did, barely remember trolley cars only in that the material the seats were made of were so scratchy and I always had to wear a dress to go downtown. That would be middle/later 50's. Do remember sock hops, Dave Clark (use to be the dance partner for my older sister), the book store on the corner by the school, the hot rods, pedal pushers, poodle skirts, balloon bottom skirts, sweaters with beaded colors my sister wore. Oh yeah and she had her boyfriends class ring on a swivel around her neck, I couldn't wait to do that...rofl. Course by the time I was in high school all of that had changed. I did have a poodle skirt my Mom and sister made me (like my sisters) when they were in style, they put bells on the poodle and on my BIG slip so when I walked it jingled (school didn't like that). Then at the holidays they made me a halloween skirt and Christmas skirt, I thought I was soooo cool. rofl. My era was bell bottoms pants, midriff tops, BIG hair, malls were just starting here, jean shorts, jeans, and the Viet Nam war.... Big hair is coming back girls.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Now your making me feel old! I was born in 55, and remember lots of that too!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

No way, I was born in 50 so I am chronilogically older....rofl.
I am sure I didn't spell that correctly....LOL We not old we are perfecto!

My Mom the other day told me "Did you see that old lady that moved into the aparment building"? (My Mom is 86 so what age exactly do you call "old" ? rofl...... so funny.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

well we had a tornado about a mile away, everything was knocked to heck, but even tho a few limbs and blooms were lost, everything is okay.. son got baseball sized hail and holes in his siding and roof.. somehow his car didn't get dented
( that he could see)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, I was watching it on the weather channel! Hope your damge in minimum! Some of the hail they said was 7 inches!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OMG Debra, that is way too close! So glad you and your family are fine. That is so scary.
I was at a MG meeting so I didn't see any news. So glad you are safe and sound.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Can't wait for the sun to come up so I can see the real damage, and can't imagine the damage at the car lot..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope the dealership has insurance to cover the damage! With the reported 7 inch hail stones, there was a lot of damage to homes and cars!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

went to my sons tonite to help with the tarp on his roof. he is gonna need siding and skirting replaced too. Heck, they oughta just give him a new place.. The cars at our location were moved inside the inside warehouses in time so no damage.. the customers rolled in all day with huge dents and broken windows. My son has a video of the stones crashing into the lake and it is awesome. The stones he saved in his freezer are true baseball size. Joe and I are going to have to help with the deductible..

Alba is still vining..
Faye, Charlie had your insignia cutting over there, the hail knocked the top off and it was wilted before I could save it, but I dug up the rest of it.. just letting you know we still have your Insignia. All his flowers were broken and he was so upset.. I told him it was time to let them wind down anyway. Now he doesn't have to worry about watering.

Oh Debra, I heard from some of the people in our company at the Wichita division and my my that was a horrible storm. Glad everyone is ok, that is the most important, but now to deal with insurance and work crews......yikes....LOL

Suppose to have a nice weekend....yeah, looking forward to it.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hi guys, I went to a swap meet with DH this weekend and bought two really cool things. One is a really old wooden box with a label on the front and it says something about tested seeds and then when you open the box that is hinged on the inside of the top it has the instructions for setting up the seed display. It didn't have the insides to set up the seed but it is so cool. I will have to take pics. I also bought a two wheeled library book mover. Very well made. The guy asked what are you going to do with that, I told him I am going to put my garden tools (rake, shovel, hoe) on it to haul around the yard. I have seen where they took golf bags that had wheels and did that. I was just going to bunge them but now I think I will have DH weld the racks on for me.

We had horrible storms around here. Hope everyone missed them. I was lucky nothing at my house, they had hail 7inchs in diameter.

dahlia I have in bloom, the orange is more vivid and the yellow color is really bright yellow. I can't get the colors to always come out right on this camera yet, still working on it.

Pretty Dahlia! Mine are still struggling just to grow, no sign of buds yet. Y'all are having crazy storms and we're 3" before normal rainfall again this month. In fact that's been the story of our Summer.

Maxine gave me Iris "Immortality" in an 09 swap and this is the first time I've seen it bloom.

Afternoon everyone! Where is everyone! Hope your not caught in the storms somewhere?

Love the blooms, that orange is so pretty! Do you have to dig up the tubers?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love the white iris too.
Juanita, I have never seen any of those, but they sure are pretty. Love the purple!

Awww love the kitty. I love my mona lavender, I over winter it in the basement and set it free in the spring. My mounding dahlias have been lovely this year. I bet that seed box is so awsome!

I have never seen an Iris bloom this time of the year and that one is gorgeous.

Debra I was thinking I might have to bring in some of that Mona> It is so huge I can't bring in the whole thing, but I think I will dig out a piece. Got that on clearance at the nursery along with a really big strepto.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Is that box coming to me :)

You Iris people know some are rebloomers but I sure didn't til I looked that one up.

I got these at the botnaical gardens in San Antonio this week-end, they had a $5.00 plant sale, and you got a free coleus for every 5 plants you bought!

I don't know tth names of them all, so if someone can tell me what they are, I would appreciate it!
Thanks

First picture, all of them on my son's patio.
