Good afternoon everyone! I have phone calls to make and no voice to do it with. Wonder who I can bribe...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, get some honey, and mix it with a shot of whiskey, that helps sometimes! Chloraseptic spray?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hugs to Jaye.........So sorry for yours and Kels loss... My mom is in a nursing home in Houston Texas, right down the street from my big sister...sister cares for her. She fell again this week for the umpeenth time, some bruises, but no bone breaks thank God. She has had oncoming dementia for awhile but they are just now beginning to call it perhaps Alzheimers...just breaks my heart, as it was the one thing she was most horrified by. My step dad died of it, and Mom is so proud...always has been sharp as a tack. Such a hateful thing to see happen to someone you love

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

(((((Karen)))))) Your story sounds almost identical to mine, except it was my little sister who took care of her and it was Dad, not a step dad, who had had Alzheimers. They never called Mom's Alzheimers, but it was so sad to see it happen, whatever it was. As odd as it may sound, I was able to come to terms with it by listening to the "stories" that Mom would start rambling on about and asking her questions to make her think about the story. For example, she was in a one story nursing home, but one day went on a tangent about how people were going "upstairs" and she knew they were having parties up there and on and on. So I started asking her questions like: what were the women wearing, were they wearing party dresses, could Mom hear music. Just whatever I could think of to keep her talking. As I told my sister later, how could we know that it was dementia? Maybe it was a memory from her teen years or early adulthood that had become real to her again.. so as long as she wasn't being upset, scared, etc..why not let her have this "memory"?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies

Jaye & Kel so sorry for your loss.
We are having the craziest weather I swear. 102 yesterday 104 today then come Saturday 75 and Sunday 72. I swear Mother Nature is going thru menopause, lol. Having hot flashes and then the chills. And to top it off. Thousands of wasp got in the a/c unit and runined the motor so we are with out any cool air. Have fans on high sitting with in a foot of me. We haven't had to turn the a/c on until yesterday so we did not know this had happened. Mom called the guy that installed it, he came and looked and told her to call some bug guy. They came out sprayed and cleaned away the nest and dead wasp. So the a/c comes back to reset and they were wasp back again about 100 and had already built a huge nest. The bug guy charged mom $95 she called them and they said the spray should kill them to keep checking, if not they would come back. YEA they'll come back for $95 they better!! So in the meantime we are melting, lol

I have been babysitting grandkids. Taylor is running fevers again. And my grandson has strep throat. He started getting sick last Thursday.Daughter took him to doc did blood work. Yesterday his throat was so sore he couldn't swallow so I took him back to the doc. He said his test came back negative for strep, so he ordered more blood work for mono. Sent a script, so we went to get it and they said the computers were down would be an hour. So go back to my daughter's, the nurse calls says they phoned in a script for Kain I said I know we are waiting for it. She says well is should be ready. I'm thinking now how does she know this when we had just left there. WEEELLL the dumb blond nurse neglected to tell me that his new blood work came back positive for strep and that it was a new script. So when daughter went to get meds, they didn't give her the new one also URRRRRR!!! Poor Kain suffered all that time with out pain meds. By 10:30 this morning his throat was so sore and swollen that he couldn't hard sip water, so my daughter took him to the ER. That is when we found out about his latest blood work. They gave him an IV and morphine calmed him down a little but by the time they got back home he was in horrible pain again. Daughter went to get new scripts, came home Kain had the hardest time swollowing the pills and he just cried and cried. God it broke my heart seeing him and not being able to help at all. Poor Taylor was so worried about him while he was at the hospital. I found her in her bed crying :( I told her he was going to be ok. Just gonna be real sick for a few days.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Karen my grandmother had Alzheimers for 11 years until she finally had a massive stroke and passed away. I know the pain that comes with that horrible horrible disease.

Cindy that's weird for CA! I'll read you post when I'm done with this one here.

I went to the dr this morning and I was slammed when I got to work this afternoon! I love it when it's that busy! My hot dr saw me out in the hallway as I was being led to the exam room, he said, "Hi Christine! How are you doing??" I managed to croak out a "Well..." He said, "Oh my! I'll be with you in just a few minutes!" It's great to be remembered!! He gave me a shot of a steroid and said I would start noticing the effects around 3:30 or so. Well, my voice is a little better, I'm not coughing at all, and I feel better when I didn't know I felt bad to begin with! He also gave me a Z pack of Azithromycin antibiotic, said he doesn't think it'll do any good but never the less... lol, PLUS Promethazine-Codeine Cough Syrup, so I should be good to go for awhile!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Cindy did you say that Taylor has or doesn't have Mono? That's horrible about Kain. Let me tell ya, these dr's help (receptionists and others) nowadays is horrible!!! I don't know where these people are getting their education but I swear it's out of a garbage can. My mom has nothing but problems dealing with the help, and yesterday when I called in I got an older lady, I said, "I need to make an appt to see Dr. Nelson to talk about getting a really strong decongestant prescription." She immediately snapped, "Well, Ma'am, he's not just going to give you the medicine without coming in for an office visit." I didn't say anything, then about 5 seconds later she said, "Oh, wait, that's what you said huh.? I'm sorry!" I laughed and told her it was alright, just figured she caught her boo boo, admitted to it, and must have just got off the phone with someone difficult and hadn't switched gears yet. (remember this was Tuesday, Aug 24th.) She said, "Well, I have tomorrow at 9:10 with the dr or you can come in Wednesday at anytime and see the Nurse Practitioner." I again didn't say anything for about 8 seconds to see if she was going to catch that error, but she didn't say anything so I said, "Tomorrow IS Wednesday." She got mad and snapped, "Well I don't know, I just look at the dates that show up as open on the computer!" I knew then that she was just not a nice person. I grabbed 'Tomorrow at 9:10am' and wondered until I got there who I was going to see, hoping it was him and it was!!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Gee I forgot how much reading I have to do to catch up on everything LOL

I'm still here popping in when I can
have 12 kids placed and the last one comes in next weds from hong kong to stay in mineola.
Luckily one lady has agreed to step up and help me by taking on the support role so I'm not doing it all and the one that had done it for 8 yrs is learning to step back....................she almost messed up one of my placements but after spending last evening with the student and family and talking by all it was resolved and all is on track for hopefully a great year as all parties are happy now.

work is going ok with the new boss we will see how things go as the year moves on and he is learning things as to how some act and do so his eyes are opening
Just have to get a couple routes in order as one driver is not getting back in til after 6pm and i have worked with this man several times and even today re did his route for pick up so he could save some time ...hopefully soon i will be able to go out with him and see what the problem is that its taking him 2 hours to get kids home at night

I'm doing good things are healing as I have finally moved back into my bed no longer on the sofa sleeper sitting up I jsut have to remember to work slowly at getting back into the heavy things I used to lift and do

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

No Taylor does not have mono. And so far (knock on wood) she has not ran a temp. So I may not have to babysit tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, was she sick all summer, or is this just popping up again! Poor thing, maybe get him some chloroseptic spay or some cough drops to suck on! for that sore throught.

Crissy, glad you got to see your Dr, and get your meds!

Hey Phyllis, sounds like your staying busy! Hope you get that bus driver's route fixed. Does BJ, have kids this year?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We have a baby boy. he was born about 3 this morning, that's all I know, I will post more later with details. All is well with Mom and Baby!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Cindy-I had strep a couple yrs ago. DH had it first, then I got it and his dr was not as good as mine. All toothbrushes in the vicinity of Kain's need to be thrown away and replaced as well as any other communal things he puts his mouth on (like mouthwash). For the swelling, ibuprofen gel tabs work wonders. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory so will help the swelling go down enough to swallow and the gel tabs after they get a little wet in the mouth slide down easier than regular pills.

LK-about time!! Yeah the baby is FINALLY here!!;)

Crissy-glad you got some stuff to help you feel better.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Tink, how are you doing? Not too long now, and it will be your turn! About 6-7 more weeks?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Heather just posted on facebook, that Xavier Amadeus was born at 3:46 am this morning by c-section. Both are doing great, will update more later.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LK-I was wondering if the midwife finally got the lead out and took her to the hospital.....

I am OK-couldn't sleep, hard to get comfy. We have about 8 weeks left if I go full term:) Still have a TON of stuff to get to be ready....i know, I know, the clock is ticking;)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If you don't have one already, get a full body pillow. Wal mart sells them for about $10.00, and place it between your knees at night. That may help some!

No Taylor was not sick all summer. As matter of fact she has not been sick since the end of April after that horrible virus she had. She is ok, no fever now for 36 hours. When I talked to my daughter last night Kain was doing alot better and had fallen asleep finally. Yes I tried to get him to suck on some hard candy but no it hurt too much to move his throat muscles at all. And whenever he would swallow then he would cry cuz it hurt so bad. It is just pitiful to see a 6'2" 15 year old boy cry like that. My daughter kept Taylor out of school one more day so I will be babysitting again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How is the spder bite on your daughters bottom side? Hope the kids are feeling much better today!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh lol forgot about that. Must be better cuz she hasn't said anything about it. I swear that family get everything and anything that comes around.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Cindy-I hope you saw my post above.....

LK-I have one and it helps a little....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ah hah LK! About time she went to the hospital!! Congratulations!!!!

I'm glad she doesn't have mono, I know you said but couldn't remember.

8 weeks Stacey! Dang time has flown!! Are you still having the problems you were having in the beginning?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

The sickness comes and goes, but there are a ton of other things to contend with too-I swear I have no idea why women think being pregnant is such a great thing-all it has given me are problems-LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL One of the many many reasons I never wanted kids, I'm just too selfish too. I have a cousin who absolutely Loved being pregnant, she had 3 of her own then was a surrogate mother for a few couples a few times, but her body gave out so she had to quit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I could not carry a baby, then give it away! God Bless those that can, but I would be so attached to one I carried for 9 months!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes Stacey I did and Thanks for the info. Will tell my daughter when I go over there this morning.

It was so hot last night I couldn't sleep. Got up at 5 this morning and the temps were still in the 80's suppose to be 94 today

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My mom needs a lot of prayers today.
