It is, wasn't sure if it was silver or gold, but now that you say it I remember it's silver, think I bought some as well.
Won't feel bad, as you say, got to do what you got to do!
Ran out this morning and forgot to put corn starch on Sailor, did cut the dosage of meds because Debbie, our inhouse vet (you are you know) thought maybe it was too strong for her.
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
Love the prints and yes that middle print is gorgeous..went back to look at your pattern, wow, the strapping looks like it would be tedious and time consuming; for a minute I almost thought that it was a rag quilt from afar, guess it was because of the darker borders
No news yet from Paul re getting off at 1 instead of 3 but still 1 1/2 hrs. away..getting spoilt, would make for a long Friday if we had to stay.
Betty I'm a community nosy body, I want that window open all day so I can see who is doing what. What's retarded is there's nothing but forest across the street so all I see is who is driving up and down, and we live on a dead end road with 14 residences, so we see the same people over and over and over and over again. There are 2 houses for sale though, so we're starting to see some different traffic.
Sometimes I think Dave should have been an interior decorator, except he changes his mind too fast. I just want to get some color other than brown, beige, and white!
Judy like a colored flange above the window and sheers below it?
Good for you Betty!! That's Riley's house, not Ned's house. You have to stick up for your animals because they can't stick up for themselves. There's no reason you should have to bring Ned to your house and cause unnecessary stress with the cats and Sailor, who is too old to be dealing with that anyway. Remember I just had to have the same chat with Diana bringing her two little dogs over, I didn't like it because I don't want to put her out but Tiga's too old to be dealing with it. There's nothing I'd rather do than to have her back to 5 years old and playful with everyone no matter if it's dog, cat, skunk, whatever, but it's just not that simple.
Yay! Pizza for lunch!!!
My big problem isn't cussing Dave out so much, but wanting to call him names, I'd rather cuss him out than to call him names that he doesn't deserve to be called. I am trying so hard to break that!!
Betty especially since Greg is going to be there at night! There's absolutely no reason Ned should have to come to your house, I don't want to be mean here but it's like she's thinking that 'MIL will take Ned for us anytime we want her to.'
LOL Stacey we crossed, it only took me forever to write that post anyway, I completely agree!
Betty
The word for you....

Tubby
antidepressants, boy Tubby, you keep getting harder words for me don't you?
Women and antidepressant..DID YOU KNOW
SSRI Antidepressants May Up Stroke Risk After Menopause
Date Published: Thursday, December 17th, 2009
Post-menopausal women taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants have a small, though statistically higher risk of stroke, according to a newly published study. SSRIs include the drugs Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, and Celexa.
Antidepressant use in the US has more than quintupled since the early 1990s, and SSRIs have replaced older medications called tricyclic antidepressants, which can be toxic the heart. According to a press release announcing this latest study, SSRI antidepressants have fewer side effects in general and are known to have aspirin-like effects on bleeding, which could protect against clot-related cardiovascular disorders. But not much is known about how SSRIs affect the heart. This is especially true in the case of postmenopausal women, who are at increased risk for both heart disease and depression.
The study, which was published in the December 14 Archives of Internal Medicine, involved 136,000 participants in the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). None of the women were taking antidepressants when they enrolled in the WHI.
The women included in the analysis had their first follow-up visit either one or three years after enrolling in WHI. At that time, 5,500 women reported taking either tricyclic or SSRI antidepressants. After six years, there was no association between antidepressant use and heart disease. However, researchers did find that women taking SSRIs had a 45 percent increase in risk of stroke and a 32 percent increase in risk of dying from any cause during follow up, compared with nonusers. Use of older tricyclic antidepressants wasn’t linked to stroke, but it did increase by 67 percent the risk of death during follow-up.
The authors of the study said it wasn’t clear if the increased risk was the result of antidepressants

I don't know what MIL will find when she goes as it is very hard to shop at this place IMHO-they have bolts 3-4 deep so there isn't a lot of moving room and you have to do a lot of digging. I am sure she will ask and see if they can show her what they have in stock...
Stacey, I absolutely LOVE the 1st print..I can just see the bags I'm doing done in that particular print..
LOL-glad you liked it Betty. The site is

When a friend and I went to Texas (20 years ago) we went through St. Louis, then on towards Branson Missourri, not sure if it was before or after either of those areas we were on a back road and there was a billboard saying 'a million and one calico prints' as both of us loved to sew we decided for the fun of it to go see...couldn't be much in the middle of nowhere could there? we came across the most exciting town, on both sides of the street there were electronic quilting stores, you could just bring your quilt and leave with it same day, then almost a block long was an old/old store, 2 levels if I remember correctly and I think they miscalculated, had to be a million and two callico prints..never in all my shopping have I ever seen such a store..duh, why wouldn't I have made note of where this was..was also near Tulsa Oklahoma also, know these 3 aren't miles from each other but anyone who has travelled with me knows you are here, there and everywhere..sure wish I knew where..at least with gps had I had one I could have retraced my steps.
Debbie, you and Paul doing ok today?
Have to see if they ship to Canada?
Stacey, Melanie is going to their cottage in Meaford, Meaford you might remember is where the warehouse was be bought a lot of goodies at the day you and I went touring
Drats, no call from Paul, still here in the office, guess it's 3pm closing..we've enjoyed early Fridays since May so now on fall hours..
What are you all up to today?
I'm trying to work but I'm catching a cold so I don't feel really hot, but I do need to hang my stuffs from my shopping at Hobby Lobby the other day... Maybe I'll do that here in a bit.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1124078/
Betty you have not signed up for the painted rock swap yet!
Stacey, those are pretty fabrics! Love them all! Do they have bigger print, like large sunflowers?
(((Judy))) I swear it is the moon right now. My DH is in a torpor and I can't do anything right. This too shall pass....but it is hard to keep biting your tongue isn't it?
Crissy I wouldn't put any kind of drape up but that's just me. We have no window coverings at all but who is to see us but the coyoyes, bears and other critters? In fact I am so used to not worrying about someone looking in that a few years ago when I was doing a show in Meaford (Betty will know the motel) I had my shower and walked out into the main room with not a stitch on to look up and see some guy looking in the window. More than my face was red I'll tell you!!!!Sure scurried back into the bathroom.
Remember to do something nice for yourselves today.
D
I want cake....
Hello there,
Ended up going home at 2:45pm apparently Paul was busy working on the Peterborough office that he forgot to call and say go home at 1:00pm..but that was ok..did crochet and that kept me occupied..just have to purchase 4 skeins - 2 different colors and I'll have another big afghan done!
Linda Kay drove into Elmvale and boy did she have some pretty prints, you know, all material in her store went from $14.95 to $24.95, imagine..bit high for me unless I just need a fat quarter of something (just like we did Stacey when we bought our material there)! Included was tone on tone sunflowers, quite nice, wasn't sure if it was something you wanted to add to your collection, she said she'd cut me fat quarters of the 2 different tone on tones..let me know, my treat!
On the way home a farmer had fresh corn, had to pick some of it up, then did groceries and didn't do Fabricland..looked at the clock and though to myself, why not do the corn and then have an early night , could finish another carryall bag or finish reading my book ...
No sooner did I have all that planned out did Ann call and ask if I was up to doing cement birdbaths, she wanted one for her yard so told her to come over, got into my gladrags and we starting our digging for form and mixing block mortar..had a few containers of baubbles but would have like more.
OMG, while we were working both of us started to get a whiff of someone cooking, with the restaurant back to back in the side yard Ann thought it could be pizza, I thought it was my neighbor b.b.q.'ing...
Nothing like being hungry and smelling something yummy.
Melissa came over to check on her mom, all left as Mike was fishing at the shore and the girls wanted to get the boat in for him before he got it in his head to pull it out himself....you know men, told to do nothing but do they listen.
We came inside to wash our hands and rid ourselves of cement before it set and casted our hands, lol..LO AND BEHOLD, smoke city, guess who was cooking and completely forgot...you know me, can't boil water and apparently I can't cook corn either so it's off to the restaurant for souvlaki dinner..
Told Ann next time she came she'd have to stay for supper!
CORN ANYONE!
I'd hate to think how many pots I've burned since I began cooking, all started with making taffy apples, I'll have to tell you about that one...hilarious..
Crissy, want me to make you a cake..lol ????
Dianne, too funny, lucky you didn't get arrested for indecent exposure! My question is 'did he come and purchase some of your wares at the show?
Must be something with the weather that has the men all worked up! My uncles worked at the super jail, would say the only difference between them and the inmates was he had the keys..all kidding aside, they would bring in double the staff at certain times i.e. full moon; apparently it does effect ones personality.
Off to see if I can salvage the pot!
Betty
What did you say
(Melissa came over to check on her mom, all left as Mike was fishing at the shore and the girls wanted to get the boat in for him before he got it in his head to pull it out himself...you know men, told to do nothing but do they listen)
Tubby
LOL Betty! I have to make chocolate chip cookies tonight, gonna start here in just a few, for a luncheon I'm going to tomorrow.
A full moon makes a huge difference in peoples' behavior. It's weird.
lol...from past experience Tubby, men do NOT listen to Dr's orders..Mike was told NOT do drive, but he says he can, Mike was told NOT to lift anything more than 5lbs, but he has..now tell me you are not the same!!! lol
Can taste them from here Crissy...take it from ME, the non cook, don't leave the stove until the cookies are cooked and on the counter for cooling..
You should hear all of the timers I set when they're baking! LOL
I'd best take lessons from you before I burn the house down!
Calling it a night
Lord willing we'll gab in the morning
Hello - last day at work has come & gone.
I got some of my final cheque(s), and the rest has gone to RRSPs ^_^ (gotta save SOME tax $$)
Celebrated the temporary income by ordering pizza LOL
Well, guess my DH figures now that I'm unemployed I should help him on the weekend to fill orders for casters!! His co-worker is on vacation all this month, and that leaves Bob alone to do the work - he's getting a little swamped! Guess we'll work there 1st thing in the am for a couple of hours, then we can get on with the rest of the day.....
Hello All !
Tubby - I LOVE my DG Friends....because they are my "antidepressants". :) ♪♫♪♫
Yes - Mom was a Psychiatric Nurse, and she always said they had more patients admitted on and near a Full Moon....
We are just all like giant plants reacting to the lunar pull, tides, low/high pressure, etc.
My Chiropractor was trying to tell me something about the depression in the Gulf, low pressure and how it was connected to my congestion/headache/lethargy....something like that...
Judy - you sure don't deserve that after you've done so much to help him. Big ((HUGS))
Betty....I find now that in my 'rounds' about town...I think "when Betty comes to visit" (...with Deb/Judy/ETc/Etc/Etc)...."I will bring them here". DH and I found a unique store...antiques, art, yard art, I suppose what reminded me of you...they had a BUNCH of antique windows... I remember your window in your garden. They have a nice cafe inside we ate at.
Crissy - Please Please come visit me tomorrow. I have THREE....count'em.... THREE Cakes in the Frig! Mississippi Mud (Bday cake from office)....Chocolate (Bday cake from MIL)....Italian Cream Cake (DH Bday cake from MIL).
Back in a bit...
Mary
Judy - I LOVE your idea re: naming Pup! Will bring it up to DH...
Deb - how is DH doing?
I wondered why my DH wanted a dehydrator for his bday. Now I know...he has dehydrated something every single night since. told him I'm SO glad he is enjoying his 'toy' so much. He has made 2 batches of beef jerky and now working on batch #3...the kids went through the jerky like it was CAKE! (now why they aren't eating the cake? It's GOOD Cake!) He's having a ball experimenting with different marinades and cuts of meat... Told him he'd "Perfect" his jerky and then he can quit his job and we'll sell jerky on the side of the road. LOL
Hugs,
Mary

hahahahaha he's having a blast, and that's the main reason for a b-day prezzie, right? ^_^
Yes Susan! You are right! He bought a HUGE brisket tonight.... and is experimenting with teriyaki, apple juice, coca cola, cherry juice... ETC....
What will you be helping your DH with? I think I was lost in the translation...
So glad you are taking this all so well... and why shouldn't you.... there is something I am sure "right around the corner" that will suit you just fine...and probably pay very very well...

Mary
Hi Mary, Night crew checking in real quick
I have had a "lovely" day! NOT!
DH got an "emergency" call from work last night. Major processing pump was down...yadda yadda....no one knows but him....etc. Read between the lines! I got up at 6:00 this morning....thats a.m.....I don't do a.m. at 6:00 too easily unless there is REALLY something in it for me! And I drove him to Rochester.....so he could "assist" the guys to putting this pump together so the entire plant could get up and running!
SO...for FOUR hours...I had to amuse myself in Rochester. Went to Barnes & Noble, walked the Mall....went to Target, hit about 5 pet stores trying to find Bens yogert drops so he will quit stomping like an angry bunny who is out of his treats......and I was so bored and ready to do major damage at JCPennys when he texted me he was done.
Thankfully, he made up for it by taking me to lunch at DiBella's subs....so I could watch for the fire station crew to come in and take lunch. TRUST ME...this is a thing to enjoy while stuffing your face! However, they got called out on a run...and I didnt' get my entertainment.
We did end up going to a nearby park afterwards on Irondiquoit Bay and Lake Ontario. I had the new camera....lots of swans to take pictures of, ducks, seagulls.....and just an awesome place.
Then, onward to DH's doctors appt. They put in a clear lense for him, so he had some protection from his regular glasses....and wasn't screwing up the vision having such a hard lense in there. Going to take time to heal....goes back in two weeks....but can drive and GO TO WORK now. On desk duty,no heavy lifting, no straining, no bending.
Then, we got back home...at 5:15. Almost 12 hours on the road...and I am not exhausted. Was settling in for a nap.....and our oldest and her hubby popped over for a quick visit. Checking up on DH and realizing I hadn't seen them in several weeks.
Other than that....I am worn out and ready for bed.
The itches....I don't want to talk about it. Just think Benedryl coma.
Judy, hugs hugs hugs.....I understand that...and I did that a lot the last several days with "blue words" flying at DH because he just didn't think I could do anything right and had to re-do it all!
Betty, good for you telling Melanie No on Ned.....smart choice. And very good cutting Sailors dose....one in morning...one in night...will work great!
Mary, I am turning the night crew back over to you....this ole lady here is falling apart....and heading to bed. I wish the stairs weren't so far up! LOL
Sweet dreams everyone.....
Debbie
I'm UP, Everybody is UP!!!
G rrr I would so like to be sleeping right now.
All those BD cakes Mary seems a shame they are just sitting there waiting for someone to eat them.I am sure your family will finish them up quickly. I see you got a BD cake from you MIL, I laughed at that because mine probably would have sent me a dill pickle instead of a cake. Mil in 38 years never knew or bothered to ask when my BD was but heaven help us if we missed hers by one day.
Betty I am very proud of you for not giving in about Ned. Riley is important to you besides you did offer to go over and walk and play with the dog.
Deb look at it this way DH will be going back to work AND can drive so 1 early morning was probably well worth it. Did the doc ban him from the bike?
OK hot chocolate ready I am going to go out and commune with the loons a second time tonight....without Stormy this time he is being a bit of a pill.
Sweet dreams everybody!
Dianne
Morning, omg I slept in till 7am..imagine that, of course I woke up at 4:00 and could hear the rumbling, woke up about 6 or so and heavy rains so snuggled back to dreamland and had it not been for Sailor wanting out most likely I'd have made it to 9am.
Sat and had coffee and made a list of things I need in town, drats on Fabricland not opening until 10am which means I can't leave here till 9..that gives me time to go to Canadian Tire, Home Depot and Walmart first, then I'll pick up 2 bunches of cut flowers, one for SIL that just had knee surgery, and for MIL who broke her arm..a quick stop to say 'hi' hope you are feeling better, a trip to check Ned and hoping to be home by 11:00..will be a sewing day taking the weather into account!
Debbie, did Paul had to do heavy lifting or was he able to give directions to workers? That was asking a lot of them but guess he couldn't refuse..
I got a good laugh out of you saying 'you don't do 6am' Debbie, you brat you do so, we spend many a morning on the road and you got up and ready with a smile, or was the smile for me NOT to know how much you like to sleep in...
Thinking of you a lot, hope you can join a group of my friends who will be doing Hamburd in November, maybe even spent one of the nights at the hotel with us? try to keep that in mind, it would be so much fun.
You had me giggling when you said going to the restaurant near the firestation just to watch the firemen come in for their lunch and what a treat even better than the food you brought memories of a friend, now deseased who said she went to the mall just to sit on the bench for hours watching men go by, won't tell you her terminology, explaining what parts she looked at or off Dave's I'd go..lol
Yep, Sailor seems to be doing better, will certainly be glad when I don't have to use cornstartch so tired of dusting and sweeping, must do it a dozen times a day but is well worth it because she's healing.
Look forward Debbie to seeing your photo's...I'll have to copy one of the swans and send to Jeff; if you remember he tried while in his kayak to take a photo of the swan grouping and the male came with open wings to attack him..he'd get a kick out of the photo..hope that's ok.
Got to tell you, something liked the burnt corn, had put the bag on back deck, this morning all the corn except for husks has been eaten so someone got a meal out of my disaster, not sure the pot will survive, boo hoo
Mary, I'd love some cake and love that you have taken the time to think of what I'd love to see and where we could go when I come to visit, you just never know when I get the urge to travel your way, of course I'd need a travelling companion other than the GPS or I'd end up visiting our Liz in California.
Mary, Canadian Tire has a dehydrator on sale, it doesn't look like the one my friend had, it's circular and has divisions in it, it's 40% off, think the sale price was $49.99 probably good for a single person like me..I'll check it out BUT I have to ask myself, if I can't even cook corn, boil water without boiling dry then why on earth would I need a dehydrater...glad your hubby is learning how to make such foods and that the kids are enjoining, let's hope the novelty doesn't wear off.
Dianne, you are indeed an early riser, we'd make great travelling companions, could always shake the sheets to get Debbie up..lol..
Your description of being on the deck listening to the loons has made me homesick. Our home was spanish style, white stucco, many arches and only about 8' from the shoreline, the entire front was balcony, private one off my bedroom, how Roger and I would love to get up early morning or stayed up late nights and you could hear all the sounds, sooo calming!
What is your weather like today, will you be getting all this rain? It's stopped now, but the sky is dark and heavy, am sure we'll get more. Poor Exhibition, rain all weekend in Toronto, will be a lot of disappointed children for sure.
Tubby, did you read Mary's post on your word of the day? Mary , meant to say you did well girl with 'Tubby's' word of the day. It stomped me..glad you chimed in..open to all of you to add your thoughts on his word..think our Tubby is looking in the dictionary to find 'stumpers'
Susan, already you are unemployed and hubby will fill your day..good for you, nice to have some quality time ! hope you got a good night sleep, am sure you've had a lot on your mind..before you know it you'll be gone camping, now could DH take a few extra days so you could stay longer?
Best I go get myself ready if I want to do all I've been planned and be home by 11am..
Gab when I come home
LK-that was all I found on the site, but the site has a TON of fabric to look through-you are more than welcome to check it out and see what you find:) I didn't talk to MIL after her trip to see what they had in stock in the store...
Good morning,
Betty, getting up and traveling was FUN. A different drive and adventure every day. Getting up to "work" is not fun. Especially that same drive to Rochester at 100 miles round trip...no longer fun!
I am concerned about DH, as his vision isn't much better than before the surgery. He is just "deep sighing" so much and I know majorily disappointed. The doctor had him thinking he would just be able to get a pair o cheap readers afterwards and not need glasses full time at all. It isn't looking that way as of right now. As I said, he goes back in on Sept. 7, so praying for improvements.
Mary, I am so happy everyone celebrated you and your special day. It sounds like a fun time! I would have crawled under the table with all those birthday cakes and people singing to me. One childhood disaster I have never been able to over come....and just totally hate that.
Betty as of right now....I will gladly meet for the November outting. But you know my crew...no promises as things change so fast here. Now about that hotel....I don't know...you have had some experiences in NF that I am not sure I want to repeat with you....love you dearly...but, umm....that was scary a time or two. AND remember....November is MAJOR shopping season....and the hotels book EARLY!
Morning Bev! How are you feeling sweety? How was cardio rehab? Scotty....you behave or I am coming up there with a butter paddle! LOL
Tubby, good morning, have you driven that mower to town yet and gotten into trouble? We have a neighbor who lost his license....and darn fool takes that mower downtown whenever he can get away with it! Funniest thing I have ever seen...running away from home. lol
Crissy, about those windows. They are beautiful, I could see some "color" up there...but wouldn't want to spoil the view. Is Dave worried about walking around in his boxers and the neighbors getting excited? LOL My daughter put up those long sheets of material that drape across the top, and down the sides. Really adds some soft touch to the entire room for look....but not much for privacy.
OK, I need coffee....I will be back later.
Ah Mary! I would LOVE to come visit you, not just for the cake but just because!
Diane that's funny. My DH Dave was raised Jehovah Witness and him being the 5th of 6 kids never got a birthday, no one ever got birthdays. Well now that nobody is a member anymore, only one child of the 6 stayed with the church, mom was kicked out when Dave was around 8 because of a divorce, but they still wouldn't celebrate anything, until Mom became elderly. Now that she's turning 80 next month she wants a birthday bash but refuses to celebrate anyone elses birthdays. They're unsure of what they're going to do, her side of the family are all in CA, except for Dave, we're out here with Dad's side of the family. Oh! There's another story all in itself...Dad. UG!
Debbie that's horrible that his eyesight isn't any better! I don't know much about eyes, except for the fact they heal very quickly because they're nothing but liquid. I hope it improves before he goes to the dr.
Debbie there is nothing across the street but trees, he runs around nude all day. I'll have to look for a picture later, I've got to get in the shower, I have a luncheon I have to be at by 11.
Beautiful swan...thanks for sharing...
Betty...stop and pick me up on your trip south....
Crissy....what are you looking for a picture of...Dave running nude all day? OHHHHH MY!
rofl
Morning everyone! Betty, fat quarters will be so nice, thank you so much! What ever you think will go!
Stacey, I will scroll back up, and look to see whatthey have!
Mary, Tell hubby to try a bit og Orange Juice on the beef jerky. He may like it! Maybe some crushed red pepper if he likes it spicy?
Hello to everyone else! Tubby, glad to see you posting. Sure hope your listening to your Dr's advice!
Afternoon all,
I'm sitting here drooling, didn't Crissy say she was coming back with photo's of Dave in his birthday suit...she'd best come back shortly, I've supper on the stove, on low and can't spend all afternoon downstairs with my eye glasses on waiting impatiently!!
Debbie, could Paul's eye need a little time after the operation before he sees a little better? Maybe he's rushing things..yep, know you usually go with a group but I'll have a room and it might be a treat for you to spend some time with a few crazy canadians...don't count it out, besides we need a tour guide to show us more shopping haunts. Love the swan, going to copy and send to Jeff.
Was gabbing to Susan this morning, she's on her way out with Bob, going to help him out, sounds like a fun thing to do...
Mary, went to Canadian Tire and they had a dehydrador (?) for $34.99 and it has 6 or 8 trays, not overly big..looked at it for a few minutes, went and picked up an electric knife, all my slicing knives are dull (lord knows why I've cut with them) then back to the aisles and then something attracted me to the label, 'dry your flowers for floral arrangements' that did it..even if I only use it for that so later I'll be outside looking for flowers that have just opened and see what becomes of them when done. Your hubby will love me for telling you that, he'll not get to use it now, you'll be drying and making floral arrangements with his birthday toy..
Dropped into Robert and Lorraine's, oooch she had major foot operation, wires poking out of her toes, heel etc. didn't look pretty, didn't she get up to make me a tea after I said 'no' and Robert said he'd do it and she banged her toes on the coffee table..let out a screem, shortly I thought she had gone to the washroom but she was in bed in pain..left there and off to mother in law to drop her flowers off, either she wasn't home or she was still in bed, left the flowers on the verandah and headed to Greg's..He couldn't figure out why Melanie would have me come when he was home..his plans was to go to Balm Beach for Corvey day but said he'd already had Ned out and would do so before going out. He's coming for din/din tonight so I'll have to stay upstairs and keep an eye on my cooking..he'll know something burnt yesterday as soon as he comes in the house, fabreeze didn't work well!
Joyce, yes, I would be passing through your town, wouldn't that be fun...roadtrip..need to get a 12 passenger bus and start off with Dianne, then Debbie, Joyce, Crissy, hmmm who else would we pass going to Mary's??? know we'd go through Memphis..hey, could climb Graceland wall again..lol
LindaKay, will pick up something in the next week and get it off to you..
Stacey, you working today?
