Mary, So glad you enjoyed your Birthday!
How lucky I chose the right picture, awe, I love Bird of Paradise.
Betty, No I didn't not create it. But one of the reasons of taking it's picture was with the idea of duplicating it with silk floral.
LOL adding it to wish list of things to do.
Oh, Yes Have been thinking of Debbie and Paul's surgery today. Sure hope it all went smoothly.
Thanks Debbie for dinner suggestion, my kids love shepherds pie too.
My Gosh Crissy, that is quite alot of pets! wow, I like all the names too.
Yikes, i don't think I've ever heard of that type of grass, but ouch sounds painful, lol.
LOL, Mary, the name game continues...Here's an idea for ya's everyone in the family pick one of their favorite names.
Write it on slip of paper, then put in a bowl, shake it up and pull a slip. DH to pull, since he found the pup...
or, take all the names and recreate a name with all the letters!!
Dianne, Wow that a lot of work, Sounds like you and your DH both like to garden! It'll be real nice once you get all the bublbs in...What kinds are you waiting on?
Heavy sigh, i am having a crazy kind of week. Now i started laundry at 7:30 this AM, guess what, still have the loads in. Forgot, not once to hit start, but twice. Then for some reason the dryer is not drying on first time cycle...Oh well. got all day.
So Betty, are you busy, busy...Haven't seen you post much today.
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
Crossed Posted with you,
Thank you Crissy and Linda Kay...
Linda Kay, Are you able to move around a bit better today?
A quick hello...and will have to reply to all later...if a bird doesn't fly by!
DH's surgery went great! I was amazed. Left him at 10;27 with anestheia..while I went to sit in lobby. My Pager went off at 10:47...exactly 20 minutes. I thought "Oh no, somethings wrong they had to cancel" NOPE got up there, he was sitting up, BP check and all done! We were on the road at 11:10 to Cracker Barrel in Rochester for breakfast.
I have just taken benedryl....and DH is already passed out. So I am going to catch a few ZZzzzzzz's right along with him.
Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers,
Debbie
Judy, thanks for the photo's, which of the 2 lovely ladies is Steve's mom? They sure look as though they are having great time..lucky you to have a Sunday morning chef in the house!
Debbie glad to hear that all went well for Paul..will he have to stay off work for any amount of time? A nap is what you both need...
Cracker Barrel..hmmm between you teasing me with Cracker Barrel and Mary with New Orleans, you are both making me homesick for the USA.
Judy, I do come on like I always do but there is no-one here to chat with so I key off and go watch a movie..lol
Pretty soon gardening will be over and we'll all have time on our hands to chit/chat
Went on my lunch with Suzanne to a new store that just opened, discount prices, have everything but didn't see anything that said you must take me home BUT they did have nice rugs for $49.99 and you know it won't be but a few weeks that I'll be needing a new one. Had some bikes but I felt they were more costly than Canadian Tire.
Going to go home via Midland tonight and stop into Fabricland, need a lot of thread for a few rag quilts and the bags I'm making so now would be the time to stock up when it's 66% off.
Wonderful Debbie, so glad it went well!!!
Have a great rest, you deserve it.
Debbie I am so glad it went well! Keep us posted. I need a nap too!
Hi there Betty, What movie did you watch?
Oh great deal on the thread!!
Ive got to wait for Monday coupons for JoAnns to buy thread, usually 40% off...LOL, Never realized how expensive quilting thread is.
Oh, sorry forgot to name the sisters...MIL, Lillian is on the left (the one in front) She is the Baby of the three sisters, (73). Jean is the Eldest (80) Helen was the middle. She and her husband used to camp and Boat in a neighboring town. So they would travel into Montello, (our town) to go to the very Restraunt that we frequent. They enjoyed dinner there. MIL didn't remember the place as it is now, but Jean did.
We stayed and even sang kerokie!! Good heavens I must delete that film!! LOL, we were the only ones in there, so Kids got me to sing.
LOLOL, I am a horrible singer! We laughed hystercal.
SDebbie, so glad surgery went so fast! No give it plenty of time to heal!
Judy, doing much better today. Just a little sore, going back and forth from computer to the sewing machine.
Betty, if they have any sunflower fabric, can you pick me up a fat quarter or two next time your at the fabric store. Looking for different sunflower fabric for a lapquilt for my Son's girlfriend. I will send you fmoney for fabric and postage. Betty do you have paypal set up? It is really safe, and easy to use.

What color of background are you looking for LindaKay or does it matter and yes, I certainly will look for you..not sure how much fabric is left, store was looking pretty empty last Friday when I was in..lordy they had great sewing machine covers and storage bins on wheels, they were cheap/cheap too bad I didn't need any.
at the discount store I was in they had the cutting matts, it could fold in half making a large one and all for $10.00, I'll call Ann tonight to see if she wants one, if so I'll pick 2 up tomorrow..my reason though is the accuquilt, you need a matt size of the dye so you can put it through the accuquilt..saw at a local sewing center the man had cut up the matts and made them to fit..they go from $10 - $25.00 so I could just cut up the matt into different sizes and save a bundle
Judy, unless you do quilts/sewing/crafts you have no idea of how expensive it is..regular material to do the bags I do is $50.00, everyone says, sell them, right??? at $50. and a days labor as if you could sell them...no wonder half of us throw away the receipts after doing our purchases..know I did when Roger was alive, don't you wonder if they fall for 'it was on sale' line? lol
Betty, hubby would have a fit, if he knew how expensive sewing was!
Any color background will do. Thanks so much for looking!
Preference though LindaKay???
It's just too funny, I've been on my own now many years, answer to no one except myself and often if someone or the boys say 'how much was that' it's always discounted...old habits die hard right?
No preference! I have seen some natural colors, some on blue backgrounds. Anything goes! Just need enough for a few 13 inch squares.
LOL Betty!! That's what I say to Dave all the time, every time I buy something.
We'll see what I can pick up LindaKay!
Crissy, I challenge any lady to say they don't do the same, not sure about the men, Tubby, you got to tell us, do you alter purchase price as well...am sure you all do!
Betty
Oh no...
I would never do that.....LOL
Not that I WOULD EVER THINK OF IT.............................................................
Tubby
Betty, LOL, I always start with "Guess how much money I saved?" He says "you would save more if you stayed home". Then I reply "Well, I was going to get it regardless...and it was on sale, so I saved you $$"
LOL, Tubby, bet you discounted that lawnmower of yours..lol and how about all the wood you were purchasing to make birdhouses, did you discount when telling Shirley how much you spent?
Debbie, great way to look at it, first show how much you saved...then on with the discounted purchases!
LindaKay, Fabricland is about the size of Joann's and there was barely anything left, maybe 1/5th of the store..lots of pre-made drapery and even that was going rather quickly, think one lady was doing her entire house..
Would have purchased more but didn't have anything that caught my eye so came home with more scissors, lordy I have a cabinet full and I go buy another set, some thread, buttons for the bag and a piece of blue/green to finish lining in bag and that it..all my bargooons come up to $12.94 (truth-honest) lol
Cathy had been and cut my grass, so lucky to have her as a friend .. was going to pick up Chinese but I already had pizza for lunch and I'm still full, maybe a bowl of cereal and toast would do for tonight..
LindaKay, meant to tell you that I'll be dropping into a few fabric stores shortly and will keep an eye out for your fabric, am sure I'll find some somewhere..
Just finished another carryall bag, like the hunter green and tan tones, thought sewing for awhile instead of laying on the couch would be better, maybe I'll get a good nights' sleep...
It's that time of night,
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow!
night/night
Morning,
It's beautiful LindaKay..I love how the sunflowers are showcased with other flowers; fabricland had large print flowers with rust/maroon and I believe yellow - not peonies but similar petal look that really caught my eye..how much of the sunflower blocks fabric do you already have.
Just let the furries out, couldn't bribe Sailor so downstairs I am to get a doggie bisquit, she might go out if I offer her a treat.
Overcast out there but I can't expect sunshine at 6am now can I?
Off for coffee and cereal..gab later
So far, I have 4 differetn pieces. I want to see how many different ones I can find, then will decide what else to fill it with. Still need the green background, and the brown and black trim, that goes around each square.
It is for her Birthday late October, so I still have some time, before I need to scramble and get it sewn together.
With all the different colors, it reminds me of a stained glasss window.
LK-you should ask my MIL-she has a huge fabric place by her and I think she may be going today-if you want I can forward an email to her if you send it to me first (if you don't have her email address)...
Betty/Judy-I must be getting the wrong thread, because mine isn't expensive...
Please do that Stacey, I will send her money if she needs it!
Thanks
Stacey, if you buy the good quilting thread it is very expensive. The ones we can get 5 for a dollar are not good for quilting, they break to easy, and the quilt will fall apart.
I'd hate to cover up those beautiful windows..if anything I might leave them open to enjoy the scenery
Good Morning!
Well, We had a complete and Utter breakdown last night!
Dh on the last of the job, trying to finish it. Blew up at me, very stressed. For the first time in years, I lost it and swore at him!!
So not good, I feel bad but he had no Reason to be screaming at me. I will not tolerate it, when I have been offering to go and help him.
I cannot help that one of his helpers won't stay late...This morning he acted as if nothing happened, well i am still a bit PO'd, and he knows it.
But I sure hope he finishes it Today, lol I am tired of this job!
Stacey, Oh yeah Quilting thread is expensive, LOL when I buy it, I always use a coupon and it seems no that much, once Yikes, needed the thread in a great big hurry, didn't have enough money, resorted to using plastic!
LOL on the "it was on sale" I tend to sneak in items when i shop for needed stuff.
He wants to have the kind that tie back with a flange on top. I had ivy garland up there and he said it looked lame and it was just a dust collector.
I buy the thread that is like $1.50 for 125 yds.....I get it from Joann's and it seems to work well for me so far...
((((((((((((((((((((JUDY)))))))))))))))))))))) That happens anytime me and Dave try to do any kind of work together, he gets frustrated at something and screams at me. It's a bunch of BS and I'm glad you won't put up with it, you shouldn't have to. There's no reason for that, if your doing something and get that angry then walk away and come back later.
Oh Linda Kay! That quilt is going to be beautiful...Can you please show what Sunflower Material you have.
It's so funny because now that I am doing the quilt blocks, I see We all have some of the same tastes in materials!
Had to giggle at that, but if we see what you already have we can look for different sun flowers.
Crissy, Nice Room and I agree with Betty, Beautiful Windows! Well, can't say i'll sew any drapes, lol especially if you want them now! Takes me forever to finish a project, you might get them 5 years from now! Simple Shears, might be nice.
Odd for a man to want that kind of semi-formal window covering..first thing I ever did when I moved into a house before furniture even got moved in was drapes...as I grow older I like minimal covering so I can see the beauty outside or is it that I'm getting to be a community nosey body
This morning I was up early and almost finished another carry-all bag, have but 1/2 hr. left and it's fini! 3 more cut and on the table though..sunny here today, only 66 and NO humidity, oh happy days, but they are calling for rain tomorrow and Sunday..they've called for it the past several weekends but we didn't get it so we'll see what happens this weekend.
OMG..you are indeed in trouble Judy, swear words, no my Judy! hands on hip..lol...I'm in trouble with Melanie DIL I think..telephone rings at 6:30am and it's her calling from work, she started early to get off early..she and Noah are going to Meaford for the weekend as Greg has to work, he'll be home at night but she didn't want to leave NED alone all day and could he come and visit with grandma..so I said I'd go to their place and walk him and play with him, why she said, do you not want Ned at your place anymore? so explained that Riley just got home, he'd been gone for 10 days because of Ned's last visit..don't think she appreciated it but said that would be fine! getting brave in my old age, lol, normally I'd never have said that.
Susan, as always enjoyed our chat last night..glad they treated you like a queen at your luncheon yesterday..can't wait to see the picture you were given as a going away present, sounds spectacular..bet you are busy today getting all in order for the lady that's taking over your position..who knows, she just might say it's too much for her and you'll be called back..can only hope right...
Judy, must be frustrating for Steve when he wants to finish a project and can't get the men to co-operate. They must not need the extra $$$..but that being said, no need to be grumpy with you..not with my Judy...
Today is another day though, one filled with sunshine and friends so put a smile on your face and go to Joann's and buy something special..always works! lol
As for thread, yikes, I paid as much as $5.75 for a medium spool of thread for regular sewing..I did learn my lesson with using cheap thread, re the way the machine works and also it rotting!
Also did learn that you get better sewing if you change your needles often..after sewing for 6 or 8 hrs. I change my needle..costly though, they aren't cheap either!
LK-I did ask her, just got off the phone. The place she goes to is an actual quilt store and doesn't have a lot of fat quarters, but she will look and get you cuts if she finds anything. I told her they would be 13" squares to start and that you wanted 2-3 different designs. Hope that was OK.....
I dunno about the thread-it is the same kind MIL uses and it is the one they have the most variety in at Joann's....
LindaKay, remembered the gorgeous flowers that were on the material, crysanthemums..brilliant colors and best part was purchase 1 meter (39") and get 2 free.
Now that we've all gabbed about thread, think I'll go back while there is some left and pick up a variety of colors to put into Melanie's sewing box that I'm putting together for her re Christmas; now would be the time at 75% off wouldn't it?
Betty-they are asking you for a favor and since your house is Riley's home, they shouldn't be upset if you don't want Ned there since it causes Riley to leave for the time they are gone...You did good standing up and I am sure Ned will be fine-they will only be gone for the weekend after all:)
Stacey, we have a quilt shop across the street, think we visited it when you were here, they have quilt kits for sale but don't have a good variety of materials either.
You bought some material at the Elmvale store with threads of either silver or gold, maybe I'll take the back way home and see if they have any? ordered an accuquilt magazine, might be a good time to see if it's in..
PS-we had to do the same thing with MIL's dog Pepper. She is a bit high energy and whenever she is over, she wants to continually play with Ruby and Ruby doesn't like it-in fact she goes after Pepper whom doesn't learn the lesson. MIL asked if we could take Pepper for a week a couple mos ago and I said that I would really rather not since she terrorizes Ruby the whole time she is here. I felt bad, but had to look out for our furries first-she ended up having to board Pepper....
Is that where I got that beautiful B/W mum print with the silver thread in it?? Still love that material!!
Greg will be there early morning and late night so it's just for during the day and yes, I was worried sick when Riley was gone for so long, thought that was the end of her so don't want her to run of again when she's just coming around..last night she layed on the pillow at the top of my head and Missy at the bottom of the bed, haven't done that in some time..
Stacey, that would be fine. Some places will sell by the half yard, and if she has to do that, that is OK also!
This is what I have so far. I just got these from floridaStu.
He sent the middle fabric, thinking it would add some whimsy in the quilt. What do you all think? I kinda l ike it. I will wait to see how many different sunflowers or big daisy like flowers to fill it in!
Judy, sorry you and hubby had a yelling match. They are never any fun. You need to sit down with him and tell him it was not needed, and it won't happen again! Has he apologised?
