Still singing "Happy birthday Mary"

Debbie, bet you'll be more relaxed once you know Paul is doing ok. Such a worry when it involves the 'sight'..did you say he'll be in the hospital a few days or will you be nursing him at home?

Don't think we have a Barnes & Noble here in Canada, might have to wait until I cross over to your side of the border to check it out..I'm a little nervous about getting one though, I don't do much once I get into a book..saw my neighbor had one, next time I see her outside I'll have to go and see how it works...print enlarges you say?

All great names for a 'doggie'..Mary you just have to give her a name before she's called 'no brand'

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving to both of you. are you busy at work Crissy?

Tubby, be you are trying to find me a word that I'll have difficulties incorporating in my posts right..did you see my reply to 'decoder'?

Crissy, have some of those spots as well, it's been a hard, dry summer, only thing that helps out is the humidity, almost like watering the grass and plants. Always next year to get that dark green velvet look..lol

Hubby, Therapy..o.k. hmmmm

Judy posted on the old thread so thought I'd move her post HERE!

Hi

LOL, Debbie and Crissy! Had to laugh, Yep it's a good thing Stacey named the baby, can you imagine all the offered names...
Hmmm, I thought the puppy was named Honey, LOL.

Betty...Thankfully no mishaps on the "job" front. Boohoo it was a one day deal. So got up crack of dawn, should have had breakfast. But lol, I was really hoping that Steve would have stopped for a bite to eat, Not...Took a cup of coffee to go. My job was very easy but quite tedious. I cut in all the corners in the toilet room. I wore a pair of Jeans but after a half hour changed into some cutoffs, whew it was hot in there. Applied 2 coats. OMG the plumber put the toilet in last week, so it was a real pain to paint under and behind, but was able to get that done..kept thinking how it was a good thing toilet was brand new! By time that was done, it was like 11:30. Also painted 13 switch plate covers, 2 coats, 3 on one set, 3 different colors... One of the guys showed up around 9:30 and got to work rolling the Bathroom walls, Asked me to cut in around the Hot Tub. LOL, I asked Steve if I could take a smoke break, He said, Babe you don't need to ask, just go have a smoke! Cool, I said, well it's 12:30, would you happen to be getting hungry? He said yes, but we discovered he forgot our lunch on the counter! So he had to drive a half hour away to get food! He came back with 2 big burritos. I was Starved and shaking from hunger, lol. But While he was gone, I start the trim work, in the hallway. All the trim was routered with different bevels...(that was the tedious part) So, rolled a good amount of paint then brush it all out, also 2 pocket doors and three door ways, both sides. Whew, I was tired at the end of the day!! On way back we stopped to get more paint for the toilet room.

As soon as I got home, hopped in the shower, it was great to just soak for a few. Also, it was our Good friend Ron's birthday, so he stopped in for a short visit. We had dinner, started to watch my favorite show and fell sound a sleep, don't even remember the beginning.

Mary, Yes I was very excited to go to work with DH. We have always worked Very well together. I really miss that, since he does reconstruction on other peoples property, we haven't worked on much together.so it was a lot of fun to work elsewhere. Plus, i am just as jolly as could be, because he is going to give me some money...This job is almost complete, so yippy Payday is coming!! He has to reimburse me for all the stuff i pay for with my allowance, plus for the work I have done throughout the month, and with this job, he is giving me the same rate as he gives the guys!! (my at home work, i do for half, just for pocket money, but that does include, the running time...post office bank, etc...All the running time does add up quickly too and that's time away from my house work and kids, not to mention my playtime!

Mary...Happy Birthday to you!!
This picture is especially for you for your Birthday.
(I know you love Greece.)

Betty, Yep, you definately have to add the moon window. I like the hidden garden room...
Ok, well i got to run to the bank, will be back soon...Still have to upload pics and the then tell you about weekend!
This was taken on Mykonos Island. We had a few cocktails outside by the sea.
Was wonderful, but I kept my eye on this arrangement, it's stunning.

Glenview, IL

K, I am back from banking.

Ohh, Thank you Betty!

Susan, Oh my Goodness, so sorry to hear about your job. Quite a shocker. Well, I suppose finding out last minute is so much better then hanging on a thread...You got a fantastic severance deal. Got to tell you, I love how you look at things. I strongly believe all things happen for a reason. Your outlook on all the matters of late is fantastic. Wishing you luck on finding the next phase of what to come, Just got to keep the Faith, which, I know you will...Big Armwraps for you (((((((((((((((((((SUSAN))))))))))))))))))).

So, Betty, what gives on your job front, or homefront?? Gosh, isn't this weather just superb! i am also loving having the windows open. Should be outside working but ackkk, I wanted to catch up with everyone...
Plus, i love to hear about Kyle, you have every reason to be Proud of him...As you know my nephew has Autism, which level i do not know, but it is pretty strong. He can not talk in full sentences, he can understand...His parents use sign language to communicate, just now at 7 he is starting to talk in 3 word phrases. But he has absolutely no fear of heights. Which scares the daylights out of me...

Crissy, Yikes, your grass sure is having a heat stress attack. Has it ever turned like that before? Got a neighbor around the corner who's is doing the same thing. I have never seen it that bad before...Anyhow, sure hope the cooler weather brings it back.

Debbie, yikes, sorry about the itchies, hope the dermo has something good for you. I'm with Betty, Think i'll add the reader machine to my Christmas list too, sounds Awesome!

Waiving Hi Diane, Are you healing well from your fall? hahah, so glad you like my funny guy stories, he sure keeps us on our toes.

Which by the way, Stacey, lol about Chris and his clothing antics! Steve has this thing about hanging his clothes on the bathroom door. These are the ones he will wear for a very short time over and over...LOL, I let them be for a week, once it was like almost a month, I said why don't you throw them in the laundry, his answer, there not dirty, ROFLOL, I tell him he needs a dirty/clean drawer...it might be me, but it drives me nuts, with clothes all over the door....Come to find out this past weekend, his mom DOES the very same thing!! LOL, had to stop using that bathroom because clothes were everywhere, on the hooks, over the shower, over the tub even on the hamper, I am telling you I was going insane.
and Mary, I gave up keeping up with the girls laundry, they do their own...Jakes, lol only what gets thrown in the hamper.
LOL, sorry...I just remem
bered to comment on the story of recent past.

Tubby, Are you feeling better?

Anybody have any ideas? Got some ground beef, yikes, not sure what to make for dinner, hmmm, tired of tacos, spegetti and hamburger helper...maybe some sloppy joes!!

Hey we should take a vote or 2 on Mary name game for the pup.
Vote one, What will Pups name be.
Vote two, When will they decide on the name!
LOL...

Well been typing fora bit, so
Mary here is the Picture that went with my post on old thread!

Judy, make shepards pie....my kids actually love it.

Cook ground beef, add bag frozen veggies (or canned), sprinkle with flour and add milk to make a gravy. Put in 13X9 pan....top with mashed potatoes....and some cheese on that if you want.

Might just make that here. I have 2 extra boys who have run away and are hiding out here. lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ack!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you have a marvelous day!!!!!
(I thought I posted it already, but apparently not! I so sorry!)

The dead stuff are goat heads, that grow in the desert! And this is with 40% + humidity. It gets dry in the summer but never this bad, the ground is dry but the weeds always stay green, giving me a nice green lawn LOL! Don't walk on it with bare feet or with socks on, you'll have burrs all over yourself!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Crissy, I say same, if I were to pick all the weeds in my lawn there would be no green..

Sheppards pie sounds yummy Debbie. Just got back from lunch, luncheon trailer down the road has a great chicken strip dinner with homemade fries and slaw for $8.00 and you get to sit outside. I dropped into a 'glass' shop that had a sign outside saying chips repaired for $40.00..the other day a gravel truck was in front of me and I ended up with a chip..going to drop my vehicle off Friday morning to have it repaired, don't want it to crack and then my having to replace the entire windshield

(((((((((((((Mary))))))))))))) Happy Birthday, you kid, you! So what..... sweet 16? Been kissed yet? LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you doing today Susan? Did you say you finish working this Friday? I'm still in shock from hearing your news, am sure you are the same..

Judy, your MIL went then? was she impressed..love your photo, did you make the floral arrangement..

Talk about surprised, my girlfriend I hung around with ions ago who married and moved to Florida, then lost her hubby but stayed in USA called me at work..did some private eye checking to find my work #...so nice hearing from her..

You know me, not a telephone person and yet we gabbed for about 1 hr. catching up..she had more about area news than I..was sad to hear one of Jeff's friends from grade school hung himself a few months ago, actually the brother of the young man I met at the grocery store on Saturday, I thank the Lord I didn't ask how Ken was doing, I'd have felt so badly..will telephone Greg and Jeff tonight and let them know.

Ahh almost time to go home, can't wait...have company coming for the evening, we'll have my famous meal, lol, something I pick up on the way home...too hot to cook anyway!

Tubby when Ann and Melissa were over last night Sailor was excited to see Melissa, we got into a conversation re Riley going missing for 10 days when Ned came to visit and then in general we talked about how Sailor's haunches are healing and how she pulled all the hair out, started to think, this happened about same time Ned was visiting, DO YOU THINK TUBBY THAT I SHOULD TAKE SAILOR FOR THERAPY? she might be having issues with another doggie in the house...thee is the dog whisperer who give pet THERAPY so maybe there is one in my neck of the woods that I could call in to provide Sailor with THERAPY! what you think...

Still singing happy birthday Mary!

HAPPY BDAY MARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Mary, hope you have a wonderful day today!

Betty, yikes on the shingles! Hope she gets it under control soon, that can be quite painful!

Baton Rouge, LA

WOW! JUST WOW! What a Great Birthday !

Thank you SO much Betty (still hearing you singing !LOL)...Barb, Judy, Crissy, Susan, Stacey, Linda Kay, Debbie.... EVERYONE.... for the Birthday Wishes...

Love the help naming "Puppy" !!!! It brings tears to my eyes... Deb (and Crissy) .... going to great lengths to help! Believe me... if it were up to me... Puppy would have a name...

THank goodness Stacey isn't waiting on FIVE family members (incl. 3 Strong Willed Teens)... to come up with DBaby names LOL!

Ya'll know my difficulties with "his" and "hers" kids... and no one 'likes' anyone else's name around here... DH will just finally have to take a stand at some point....

Okay - replies as I remember them...

Dianne - James Lee Burke... I'll try to remember that at the library ! Love the character Dave Robichaux.... I am still amazed that your Canadian names are SO similar to Louisiana as Louisiana is like a small country of it's own in the U.S.. (I say that...and I am NOT a native to Louisiana... just love it's "charisma")

Stacey - I LOVE the name Sunshine... we could nickname her "Sunny"... told DH that one...

Betty - Buttercup was DH's idea too..... he was voted down on that one...Joyce... Angel was DS18 and DD16's idea... I went along with it....but voted down by DH and DD17 (not her idea). Deb... LOVE Penny, Sandy .... Can't do "Roxy" because that is DD17's name... LOL..... Thank you for the link !

Judy - I liked "Honey" but voted down as well. I"M TRYING! Love your day painting for DH... Sounds like you made a difficult job fun!
THANK YOU For my Bouquet! I promise... if you saw the Flowers that DH sent me Last year for my Bday...you would swear they were a smaller version of your pic... Bird of Paradise is a 'special' flower for DH & I...and the other flowers very similar...so was a nice treat for my bday...Your Picture......

My Bday was Wonderful. I did have a "challenge" thrown in front of me... but had such a wonderful day... I will put that "challenge" off and deal with it tomorrow....If I were in "Therapy"... I am sure that is what she would tell me to do.... LOL !

Much LOVE and HUGS to all...

Mary

Verona, ON

So glad you had a great BD Mary!! My BD and Wedding Anniversary are on the same day and only 3 days after Christmas.:p
Betty I don't think the coyotes are mating - if they are than our coyotes mate 365 days of the year. We have 2 dens and sometimes there is a turf war. There is 1 male coyote who comes every night and piddles on my front stairs. I have tried bleaching and heavens know how many other concoctions to no avail. In the winter 1 or 2 of the coyotes will walk the ridge when I walk the dogs. They have been doing this for over 25 years, it started when I had Samoyeds.
Yes Chrissy Samoyeds are very special and high maintenance. Remember they are the dogs with 'Christmas' in their eyes.
Bev how are you feeling? Take good care of yourself please.
Susan I am so sorry your job has been terminated on such short notice. You handled it like a class act and that does not go unnoticed by the powers that be. Hope you are still going camping Labour Day weekend!
Judy it sounded like you really enjoyed yourself working with Steve. Extra $$s are always nice too.
We started a 30 sq ft bulb garden yesterday. DH and I built the frame out of tamarack. It is a rough cut wood and blends in nicely with the ruggedness of our area. We will level it and fill it with soil I hope today and then let the soil settle. I have far too many new bulbs arriving in September. What was I thinking???
Going to try and read a bit maybe it will help me drift off to sleep. Ya, right!!
Remember to do something nice for yourself today everybody.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Had company that stayed quite late last night so didn't get on..all enjoyed pizza ...easy cooking with pizzaria a few doors down, even dishes were paper, no muss and no fuss!

Mary so glad you enjoyed your birthday..yep, having step children can be overwhelming, shaking my head here..glad you put off the not so nice for another day..had a brainstorm, just call her 'puppy' lol

Did a few trips outside with watercan in hand to water containers, it's rumbling out there but I'm taking no chances because in the last week they've called for rain and we've missed it all.

Lordy I just didn't want to get up this morning, with cooler temps and window open to get fresh air I just wanted to stay in bed. Weekend is coming and I've nothing planned so I can rest then..I say nothing planned but Ann asked if I could do a birdbath with her like a did witht he group of girls in June but that will not take up any time, might even make another so I can give it as a gift for you know when..

Wow Dianne, glad you have no little furries that like to be out at night such as I do with Riley or that would be the end of them with the Cayote's, aren't you frightened?

Some of you may remember in early spring a friend of mine had a daughter (18) on tour (upsoming singer) on the East Coast, she had a few days hours before her performance and loved to walk, walked a trail and was attacked by cayote and mauled to death so be careful Dianne..having them around would certainly make me nervous...

When the alarm first went off this morning all you could smell was 'skunk'; thought my furries would get sprayed but didn't..thank the Lord.

Coffee time ..

Gab from work

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Wow, look at all the chatter we had last night!
Dianne, I hope your ribs are doing better. SOunds like they are, with the new garden area for all your bulbs. Don't over do it please?

Mary, glad you had a great Birthday! You share the same day as my Sister. She turned 58.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Dianne-maybe if you let DH pee on the front steps, the coyote will stop;) LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Coughed up my coffee Stacey..too funny, might work though!

Waving to all..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Well, they say the best way to get rid of an animal is with the pee of it's natural predator.....so I thought human would be that for the coyote;)

Verona, ON

LOL Stacey and you are right. A neighbour does piddle around the outside of his veggie garden and has no problems with the wildlife. We on the other hand do.
Not afraid Betty, they have been here on this farm longer than I have.We do keep a gun in a locked closet handy - we have no children so are not worried about that. I do keepan eye on how close they get when we go for a walk. So far they keep their distance and there is usallyonly 1 or 2 of them.
Need coffee.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, part of the write up:

Coyote encounters in Nova Scotia became a hot-button issue last October when a young Toronto woman, singer Taylor Mitchell, was mauled to death while hiking alone on a popular trail in the park.

they've now put a $200. bounty on cayote for time being.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL I love naming animals! Here's my dad's and his girlfriends brood:

Zoom Zoom The Pomeranian, Callie the Calico, Tazzie the Tabby, Twiggie the Tabbie, Shady the black cat (omen), Lucky the Maine Coon, Buddy the Rag Doll, Gypsie the German Shepherd/Greyhound, and Scottie the Great Dane.

Yikes Betty, it's not unheard of for animals to be looming and waiting on popular bike/walk trails. One of the reasons I never walk on those, another reason is because I'm too lazy anyway!

Hm, that makes me wonder if Dave's been peeing around the garden fence, there are even holes that he dug putting the garden fence up and he never filled them, they're the perfect size for rabbits to crawl under but we've never had a problem.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laughing here Crissy, yep, maybe he's using the outside facilities..wow, your dad certainly has a brood of animals...

This summer concern was over bears on the trails, not a good thing!

Don't say you are lazy, say your schedule doesn't allow for time re trail biking or walking.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

They have all of those animals because about a year ago Dad's girlfriend, Yvette's 20 year old daughter Kesondra decided to bring every stray animal she found home. She was even bringing home wild toads and turtles and what-not. Yvette called me one day asking what she should do about it (yea the person with no kids is the one to ask lol) I told her to tell Kesondra NO MORE ANIMALS! Period! My dad only brings in about $1300 a month and she works part time 20 hours a week for a tax firm so she can't be making very much money either, now they have all those animals to feed, and it's not so much the cats as it is those two big dogs, that's expensive! I'm all about helping the animals, but it doesn't do any good if you cant feed and house yourself first.

LOL Betty, you never know about him!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is costly feeding I'm sure but it's when vet bills come in..wow, have to mortgage your home just to afford it..

I understand in our area they have nutering clinics, minimal charge, that would help...

I often thought I'd like to donate time at a senior's home or animal shelter but I just KNOW I'd be bringing someone or a furry home with me, knowing this I'd best stay away..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL, Betty...I am so with you on that!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

This is actually what happened! She went to work for a vet because she loves animals so much, needless to say, she no longer works for a vet or any other type of business that takes care of animals. She's like the rest of us and just loves them too much!

Victoria Harbour, ON

My nephew has a miniature collie and is looking for a home, only about 1 yr. old, apparently as gentle a doggie you can find..said 'no/no/no' and am sticking to my guns..Suzanne wanted me to drop in and JUST look at him but know I'd end up coming home with him..

Just not the right time in my life to get another pooch..love animals but need to take a break.

Ordering pizza, going to eat before lunch so that we can go to a new store that just opened, told Suzanne, no money this week, spend my monthly allowance on windows/dehumidifier and Fabricland..got to restock my change purse but she says it doesn't hurt to look....know I'm being conned

Tubby how are this mornng? word of the day is _______

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just knew if I took the time to water the gardens this morning that it would rain..

Debbie, my thoughts are with you and Paul..prayers coming your way
Let us know how he made out with the operation and how you are getting through the day with both concern for Paul and the 'itch'

Good Afternoon...

Well, Jenny moved out today! Should have known better then get attached. Knew it was not to be long term.
This just took me by total surprise, well so did her coming, lol but, She now has all her documentation and off she went into the world...
So gave her a big hug and wished her much luck.

Anyway, yes MIL did come to the Cottage, Betty. She loved the House, said it was amazing! I think she had a really nice time too.
The kids and Steve enjoyed the special time with her. Aunti Jean also came and they both were impressed.
Saturday Morning, Jacob made his Breakfast feast. They both had heard of his Famous Sunday Morning Breakfasts...He cooks for everyone. Not just eggs but a full blown 5 course meal. After Breakfast, Steve took them on the boat. Went for the slowest ride ever.LOL. Too cute, Aunti put her rain bonnett on and MIL wanted to know where her helmet was!! Of course they had to know exactly where the life vest were.

Here, DH and Jake helping Grandma down the stairs, she is deathly afraid of stairs. Can't handle them too much, but they went very slowly.
