LK sorry to hear the news. Prayers for you and Lilli's family.

Jaye, just take your time and I am sure you will find the perfect piece to add to your collection. LOL, I would most likely be with Kel looking for yard art.

Have a wonderful day all. Off to take flowers in honor of what would have been our 50th today. The Lord just had other plans.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda Kay I'm so sorry to hear about Lilli....and Marion for your bittersweet day too. Bless everyone's heart, the Good Lord just had other plans. Jaye, have fun at the crafts show!!! I would be with Kel looking for things for the garden. I have bee searching for a boy and girl plant holder forever if any of you spot on online or in a magazine. This company no longer sells them....

Your love for Ross reminds me of this classic poem by E.B. Browning.

******************************************************************
How Do I Love Thee?
Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death

****************************************************************

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Phyllis, you are so right. Family comes first.
I've told BJ that I'd love to host.. but Kel's right. It's not fair to the student since our time's occupied by his family and the business.

We had a good time at the crafts show. LK, there were wheelchairs available, so my legs were spared from the long walk.
There were less vendors this year, but as long as Menzer's there, it was worth the trip and the $7 entrance fee.
Bought only one piece of hers, and it's perfect for my black art collection.
Maid M.. Kel and I were at sorts when it comes to yard art. I chose some metal butterfly mobile that stood over 6 ft. tall.. and Kel vetoed!!
He chose a 7 ft. tall fishing pole with a skeletal fish dangling at the end... and of course I said no!!
We compromised and settled for a metal sun.... how original!! Lol!!

After the show, we dined at a new Indian restaurant. Wow.. the briyani's delicious.

Susan, if you're reading this.. I don't know how and why so called Farmville invitations from me kept showing up!
I signed up for it, when my nieces begged me to be 'neighbours' and that was last year... but played only once! Got frustrated with the long delay due to dial up. That was last year.
Kel doesn't do games neither. He loves his art sites and chat with his art buddies on FB.

Time for me to bid all a good night. Church tomorrow!!
Love and hugs!!

I am so sorry about lillie Marie prayers for you and all her family..

Jaye , love the poem.

Everyone be well and a blessed Sunday.

Psalm 146:1,2
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Psalm 50:15
And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.

Psalm 56:3
What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee.

Proverbs 3:5
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Romans 8:37
In all these things we are more than conquerers through Him that loved us.

Jeremiah 32:27
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

1 Cor. 2:5
Your faith, then, does not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved!

Spend some time today praising His Name for saving you!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, ironic that would be the poem you should post. It was one read at the memorial service and one of our favorites.

LOL about the yard art. Suns are nice!!! The important thing is you compromised and had fun.

Kim and I were invited to celebrate a birthday with some friends yesterday. Laughed until my sides are sore. Had planned to do some errands but it flooded just as we were leaving from lunch. Just as well, came home and managed to get some things done.

Hope all have a wonderful day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Jaye, love that poem too.
Twyla, thanks for the scriptures today. Very nice.
Morning Marion, glad you got some rain, can ya send some this way!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I will try but we could certainly use some more.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is on. I won't be out on the porch watching hummers today. I just came in from watering the plants, and the skeeters dang near carried me off! Even after I sprayed with the OFF!

Plans for Lillie. So far, she will be cremated. Some of the ashes will be placed in a lillie plant, and some will be put into special necklaces. The rest will be buried, where Ashley and Ethan will rest next to her when their times come.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!!
Twyla, thanks for the scriptures! Yes, we owe everything to the Lord don't we?

LK, the mosquito repellant that I'd tried on me don't work. Only ones that do are the sheets of Bounce tucked under my hat and my bracelet.
That work well.
Since Stacey suggested I rub some on my arms, I've tried that too.. but still use the whole sheets.

I'm sure Ashley realizes how fatal her addiction is. It will help a lot if Ethan is not hooked on any illegal substance.

Maid M., somehow it doesn't surprise me to learn that you love Browning's sonnets as well.
Kel felt bad and returned to the crafts fair yesterday!! The butterflies were all sold and he got the largest sun and ehemm.. the fish sculpture. He said the pole just jumped into his arms!!

Cookie, I hope Vitas call you up. If I were them, I'll hire the first qualified applicant that shows initiatives.

I'm trying to type here and no thanks to Kel who's trying to distract me!
He's needing some attention me think!!!

Crissy.. Susan... have a great day at the office!

Stacey, I hope you are feeling much better. When you talk to Jonathan, let him know that he has a bunch of 'great aunts' that love him!!

Kel's joke of the day:
Who ran the bass tournament? Oh-fish-als!!

I'm about to can his sardines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Now Jaye, be nice to the man!! LOL about going back to the craft fair and the fishing pole just jumping into his hands. Like us in quilting shops?

For some odd reason I woke up at 5:30 when Kim's alarm went off--good thing I stayed up as I would never have slept in this morning. At 7 sharp my other neighbor had a tree crew out cutting down huge trees. Don't know if they are bad or he just wants them gone. Never know with this one!! Oh well an afternoon "eyelid check" just might be in order.

I have a luncheon date tomorrow with my oldest GD--just the 2 of us. I am so excited about spending some quality time with her. The youngest sort of "worms" her way in and the oldest just steps back. Not tomorrow--it will all her day with Grandma. Can you tell I am excited?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M.. I didn't have to forego the quilting shop after all!!! Got more online!! Lol!!

Sistahs.. I got this email. Thought I'd share with all.. knowing how security savvy you all are.

Wasp Spray - A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high
risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on
Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She
asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they
recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and
is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to
get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray
temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for
an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it
doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray
would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection.
Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman
in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save
your life.

Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview
High School . For decades, he's suggested putting a can of wasp and
hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective
than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet;
so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the
culprit in the eyes". It's a tip he's given to students for decades.

It's also one he wants everyone to hear. If you're looking for
protection, Glinka says look to the spray. "That's going to give
you a chance to call the police; maybe get out." Maybe even save a
life.

Please share this with all the people who are precious to your life

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse!
It will! Good to know, huh? It will also kill a wasp.!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Whew I finally made it here!

We went to Eureka Springs this past weekend for a wedding, the wedding was 9 miles west of town at a place called The Retreat at Sky Ridge http://retreatatskyridge.com/ nothing fancy, hardly any decorations or anything, just a place to have a 10 minute ceremony and some good bbq. Dave got to see some people he has never met before, plus friends he's had for 40+ years and I got to see people I haven't seen in a year or so, we had a great time. I rented us a cabin at Arkansas White River Cabins http://whiterivercabins.com/ we had cabin #6. It was between town and the wedding site. We went to town Friday night after we got there and ate some good food, checked out the town, then went back on Saturday as the wedding didn't start until 4pm, to see the sites. I brought my camera to download the pictures but I forgot the cable, so that was a futile effort LOL!

Gonna try to catch up now. Yea Right! LOL!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Jaye, I like the fact you can protect yourself with it and.....kill snakes. My kind of spray!!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy, sounds like you and Dave had a great time.
Will we be expecting a Crissy Juniorette in 9 months' time?

Maid M., after I read that email, I placed our wasp spray by the front door!!
Will get more for the back door and the bedroom. I can handle a firearm, if needed, but this will not make me too nervous to use!

We're taking out a school chum of Kel's to dinner. He's a school teacher, moved to Tx. last year, and that's the only friend Kel's very close to. Already decided on pasta carbonera.

Washed, dried, pressed and cut some blocks for the quilt swap.
Yikes.. Barb has already finished my row.. and I'm yet to complete a whole row!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That may be true Jaye but I've only started on one other!!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, sending you some blocks for the Judge's quilt--Raise my Baby swap. Should go out tomorrow on the way into town.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Jaye! We better not be expecting a Crissy Juniorette in 9 months, you'll see a Crissy Senior go postal!

So how in the world do y'all keep the ants from getting into the hummingbird feeder????? I can't keep the ants out!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Crissy,

There are some things call "Ant Moat" that you hang with the feeder. I made one using a tuna can and some nuts and bolts. I think I saw the instructions in Birds and Blooms about 2 or 3 years ago.

Thumbnail by purpbutfly
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M.. I hate to say, I haven't even begun with the judge's blocks!!!
Goodness, you are fast!!

Barb.. I'm aiming to finish at least one row by the end of the week..Lord help me!!

That's a nifty idea Cindy.. now you hang the humming bird feeder under that?

It was a very nice dinner. Kel and his buddy reminisced over old school days.
LK, his buddy lives in El Paso, and he chose to drive. Said for Christmas he'll be flying over!! Don't blame him.. if it takes more than 24 hrs and no telling what risks he's taking travelling the long highway by himself.

Good night ladies..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, that is a long drive, sure hope he did not do that in one day!

Yep, just attach a small can or mayo lid with a little eye hook, then hang feeder from that. Fill the small can with oil, or even vasoline, and the ants get stuck in it. You will have to clean it out every now and then, but it works.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Surely you jest Jaye!!! Me fast? Never, just trying very hard to get all my swap items to date as I know I will be spending more and more time with my sister and Mom. Sewing down there just isn't going to happen--to many kitties and no place to set my machine.

Hope all have a wonderful day. I have a lunch date with a very special (IMHO) 7 1/2 year old!!!!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I found this on snopes RE wasp spray. I was wondering about it since it isn't formulated for humans and I knew it was made out of pyrethrin (thanks Billy the Exterminator)

http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/waspspray.asp

One thing to always be careful of is that technically according to law you can ONLY exact the same amount of force that was used on you as self defense. If someone breaks into your house, you can NOT shoot them and claim it was self defense unless they had a gun pointed at you, and then you need to shoot to disable and not kill. The laws are very tricky.....and more than a little unfair given the emails I have gotten in the past about someone breaking into a house and for example tripping over a table and breaking their leg and then suing the homeowner and winning.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

In Texas, we have the right to protect ourselves, and if that means deadly force, that means shoot the sun of a gun! If anyone breaks into a house, they have the intent to do bodily harm, and we have the right to protect our self, and or belonging!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

But that is the trick-the intent to do bodily harm.....I do know that Texas is one of the most lax in it's laws for self defense though as are a few other states that are more liberal in their gun laws. The intent part, again, is the tricky part. Can't say I mind TX laws since I think you should have a right to protect what is yours...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning!
Maid M..I know what you mean by too many kitties :( Mine have to be gathered and locked up in the nursery if I wanted to do some sewing.
Oh how you'll be making more happy memories Maid M., with your youngest DGD! I envy you!
We're missing the joy of having kids ourselves. Each year, we try to fill that lack by taking a friend's two boys to the movies :D If only she has girls.....

Stacey, thanks for checking what's considered legal.
In Louisiana, I've been told by a relative who's a sheriff, that if an intruder break into the house, shoot to kill.. don't maim!!
A dead man can't contradict your defense claim.

North Carolina state law gives anybody the right for self defense, ANYWHERE in and out of the house. They only need to be in fear of their life or protection.
The term home invasion covers the perimeters of your property/domain....but if you're returning home and see a Joe Burglar running away from your home carrying your property, you can't shoot Joe Burglar and call it self defense.
You'll be charged with attempted murder!!

I pray that I won't ever have to use a wasp spray.. and especially the gun.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey CIndy, thanks for the links, what are you up to?

Sis, you drive carefully please, no speeding tickets, take it nice and slow please?
Have a great time, and give her lots of ((((HUGS)))) for us.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I am at my daughter's babysitting Taylor and her friend all of this week. Doing some sewing....Barbie doll clothes

Not much else happening just yet. But Doug has been a very busy man. He is getting his house ready for me to move in,lol. But his brother may be moving in there for awhile, and if that happens I sure as HECK won't be. That house is way to small for 4 adults and a 10 year old boy. I prefer to save money and look for a place of our own. Doug will be having an MRI done to see what is causing his arms to go to sleep. If it turns out he will need surgery, I will be staying with him to take care of him. So this also helps with him getting SSD, we hope.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the info on the moats Cindy! I posted a few links on the Best/Worst thread. I'm going to do that! I'm so glad that you and Doug are getting along so well, that's awesome!

Here's some pics of my last weekends trip to Eureka Springs
http://picasaweb.google.com/christinepix/EurekaSprings8710?authkey=Gv1sRgCLLYkqiIsb6JkwE#

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, I'm glad Doug treats you good and is very serious about your relationship.
With you by his side, and if he heeds your advice, he'll certainly be set for the rest of his life. A good woman is certainly very hard to find.

Ooh I love old steam engines! Saw one in Mississippi.. at a train museum.. and I won't bring that statue home.. might frighten the deers! But I'll bring that old wood burning stove anytime!!
Your cabin sure looks nice.
Christine, thanks for sharing.

I am jealous!!!! How I wish I'm coming along Sis Kathy!!
Do have a safe trip and give each other hugs for all of us left behind!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

SIS JAYE, I TRIED CALLING YOU BACK, THERE WAS NO ANSWER

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh Chrissy, I enjoyed those photos so much! I adore Eureka Springs, and have been there many times, stayed at the Crescent, had dinner on the train...rented cabins...It's all good in Eureka!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, have him go see a chiropractor. My hands were going to sleep, and my chiro did accupunture for about a month, and I have no more pain, or going to sleep!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LK,

He has county medical and they won't pay for a chiropractor. Besides he had x-rays done and the doc said it is a dengeration of the disc and it is pressing on some nerves. He ordered the MRI to see how bad it is and what the next step will be.
