Oh dear Mary...I have another name.....Betty, far as I know she hasn't picked one....I was being silly.
Ok you have Lucky Lucy.....so you name her Lu Lu
Yes, I am seriously lacking sleep!
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends
Thank you Debbie, Betty & Linda Kay ! Hello TO ALL !
Well - DH didn't go for Lucy... unfortunately. I'm pretty resigned for not having a say in the name choice. That's okay. Girls decided DH should choose since he saved her...and so far he's going for "Honey"... which I am okay with....
Barb - if you have a special diet you can clue me in on... "do tell!" I really need to get back on the wagon (or is it off?) where that is concerned....
Joyce - that is just unbelieveable... the lengths those crooks would go to for $18 or so... wow. just wow.
Betty - there is still hope that you actually saw Riley, isn't there? It's so interesting the relationship between animals. Shadow had a real mourning period when we lost Opie than Indy.
Shadow is DEFINITELY letting new pup know her place! No bite to her 'bark' just a lot of hissing so far. Can't pet dear pup without Shadow showing up for his share of love.
I'll pop back on in a bit...Is it the Night Shift yet? We may have to divide up more with Dianne here! LOL!
I remember Mom always loved being the nurse on the "Evening Shift". The "Night Shift" was after her... then the day shift.... Mom worked 3p-11.... I suppose I'll be the "Evening Shift' and Dianne can take the "Night Shift" !
Nice to have someone around 24/7 to keep an eye on the place! LOL!
Hugs,
Mary
Wow Deb! I answered your question before I read your post! We have this psychic thing going on lately!
Had a lazy weekend - shopped for birthday, and a baby shower gifts - then went to a friend's birthday, and her daughter's baby shower (due in 2 weeks).
The family is Pakistani, and the saris were beautiful!
Here are some of us - I'm "hiding" in the back, in blue jeans, and a co-worker of mine is on the left foreground.
Javaria (security guard where I work) is in front of me in a red sari and holding her granddaughter Malicha. Her daughter Tanya (in a gold sari with burgundy trim on the bottom) is here, too.
Mary I guess we are on the same "wave length". Honey is actually a very cute name. UNTIL he goes to say "Honey come here....or Honey will you" And he is talking to you and not the dog! lol
Can you believe with the cake, I didn't have ANY...about a teaspoon of Angel food...but with this new "way of life" and eating...I was afraid to take a chance. I just want to feel better so much.
Tomorrow morning, I have to get up at 5:45...and leave here by 6:30ish to get Shane to ROchester for a dentist appointment. So I think I am off to bed shortly!
Betty, we went down to the lake tonight, was SO pretty. Was waving too you and Dianne.....did you see?
Good night
Debbie
Susan - THose are some beautiful gowns! The colors !
LOL Debbie - Yes - DH went into the livingroom in front of the girls to 'test' out "Honey" on the Dear Pup.... "here honey here honey" .... so of course I run in there joking... "Here I am !"....
THose pictures are breathtaking! I suppose that I should know my geography better...but is the "lake" a "Great Lake" ???
Lovely women...all! Thanks for sharing the photo...
And to think...I went all the way to Hawaii for shots like that...and I could have just gone to New York......
Evening everybody!
I saw ya Debbie, in fact I waved back. My DH thought I was just this side of certifiable as I was standing on the dock waving at you in the pouring rain. Silly guy he wouldn't listen to me when I said you were on the other side of the lake waving. Neat pics!! Are you liking this new camera?
Judy I meant to say something earlier about your job prospect. Whooooo Hoooo! The fact they came after you is a wonderful sign they are more than interested in you coming aboard. :P about what DH said about the starting salary - at least you would have your foot in the door and in today's job market that means alot.
Mary, Debbie was right to say ask me, but she doesn't have sucker written on her forehead she has'Love".She is 1 of our Dr Doolittle's here on DG. Just ask her how Huck ended up living with her... the story starts with "It was a dark adn stormy night...."Sorry Debbie I couldn't resist and I know how you feel about your litle redhead.
We had a 'Lucky Lou' in our area for a couple of years. It was a buck that someone had obviously home raised and then turned loose. Poor guy didn't know how to survive. One of the farmers down the road sprayed painted in neon orange on his sides and someone else wrapped police tape around his rack. I think the third hunting season after he turned up he went missing. We were all on the watch for him but no Lou.
Barb how lucky you are to have your grandkids with you for a week. I would so like to be a Grandma but it is a little hard when
DH and I are what he calls "childless orphans". My MIL and my mam passed in the late fall so we truly are orpans now.
Nope haven't been to have this left side checked out yet... long story about why I haven't and won't go into it but lets just say I pulled up my big girl panties and will tough it out.
Betty I really understood what you were saying about taking life and enjoying it as much as you can. Roger was right to have his toys while he was young.... if you can afford it why not? My MIL was a perfect example of the type who hoarded her money for rainy days or whatever. She died at 102 and kept hold of her money right till the very end. My DH and DSIL tried to tell her spend it while you have your health, go on some trips, go to the theatre, get yourself a new hearing aid so we can all have a conversation together. But she grew up in the time when you saved your money for your kids.It just didn't matter that we all had good jobs with a pension once we retired. My DSIL sure could have used some of that money after my DBIL died and MIL knew how hard at that point financially it was for her. Don't get me wrong she sure didn't do without on a daily basis but some extra special things for her enjoyment would have been a good thing.
Gorgeous saris Susan! Did they have any special traditions about baby showers that are different than what we expect? I guess just having a shower is a new tradition for them.
OK Stormy is barking and singing so I had better get him in before he gets the coyotes going.
Drive careful sis into Rochester.
Dianne
Running late, of course out looking for Riley, about to give up, if she doesn't want to live here anymore that's ok..just come for a visit and let me know she's ok..I was on the right track..lol..I said he last night when Darlene called and she said said don't you remember you got these furries from others and they were already named and fixed..all SHE's..so ok, I don't look in certain spots..
Gab when I get to the office...
Betty, I went to two Joann's here and neither had water soluable thread. Do you use it for basting things? If not, what do you use it for? Norm found some on-line (1500 yds for $23 or 22 yds for $7. )
Never heard from Ann last night but I imagine she has her hands full right now that Mike is home. We will talk soon I'm sure.

Here is a link for it online. Same price as barb quoted.
http://www.redrockthreads.com/misc-thread/water-soluble-thread.asp
This is 2 dollars cheaper.
Morning everyone!
Dianne, I think it is a shame when someone takes in wild animals for pets like that! If it was an injured animal, there are place for them.
Boss is in the office today, drats, brought in my pocket bags to pin pockets on lol..hope he doesn't need a lot done because I'll be busy..lol
Barb/LindaKay, I'll have to go to the site and see if they ship to Canada, if not maybe I could have it delivered to one of your addressed and send you shipping cost..
Barb it's for applique technique, ordered a pattern of loons/lake done in blocks then trees are applied over the design in applique, want it for Darlene and Mike for Christmas.. theory is you sew 2 of same design together, sew with disolving thread, press, when you press with steam the thread lets go and now you have where the 1/4 seams allowance was pieces already for use to applique..hoping the pattern comes in shortly because it will be a lot of work..
Barb, maybe Mike didn't go outside for a walk without her, know she doesn't like talking a lot in front of him, am sure she will..said it was a priority!
Dianne, how very cruel of some people..they should be charged..
I was raised by my grandparents Dianne, and they were the same, they'd go without just so they could have $$$ to leave to the children..grandma lived to almost 100, all but 2 of her children lived to see any of their inheritance..I was included as one of her children..wasn't a whole lot but I cherished what $$ I did get..went on a trip/bought a gas fireplace and it was my father's 70's and my step mom's 70th ..was at that time spending my winters in Bonita Springs so flew them down for Christmas ..didn't feel I should have had the $$ seing as dad looked after most of her affairs so my way of sharing.. when I would take her shopping on Saturdays;we all took a day to spend with her when she was in seniors home for last 4 years of her life-not because she wasn't able to look after herself, but the children left in their late 70's early 80's and couldn't look after her due to their hown health issues...my day was Saturday..I'd pick her up, we'd go shopping, out for lunch, a ride to my dad's most Saturdays..when we'd shop she'd say she wanted a blouse or slacks, would look at the price and say, way too much, I'd be looking at something, regardless of the price she'd had to treat me and not think for a second about the cost..guess it's the times they were raised in that made them think that way..well Dianne, you now have us 'sisters' no more orphans..you'll have to introduce us to your hubby...now see, had I gone to pick up Jeff on the trent I wouldn't have been far from you...one day I'll find myself in your neck of the woods..
Debbie, I did wave, was down at the grocery store, on Georgian Bay and had to stretch my neck out along the bays so I could see you...looked as though you were having fun...must have been terrible watching everyone eat that yummy cake and not..been trying to keep fruit for snacks to ease my crave for sugar... Debbie, look for some bargooon stores in Rochester, mom and I have done all the ones in Buffalo, might be worth going further afield..lol
Photo's are absolutely breathtaking..lucky you, new camera...
Did I tell you when Jeff was here and I was taking photo's, camera wasn't functioning well, he said that seeing he purchased a new high quality waterproof camera that I could have his other camera..will have to give him a reminder to bring it up when he next visits..
Susan, I so enjoyed gabbing with you yesterday afternoon, well it started out being afternoon and by the time we finished it was early evening..lol..
I'm not much of a phone gabber so I found it interesting to see that no sooner had you hung up that Darlene called and wanted to chat as well..looked at the clock..omg it was 9:30pm and time for bed...was all chatted out..but got to know you more..nice way to spend time! Wow, those girls are pretty and love their dresses..so brilliant in colors..
Tubby, waiting for my word of the 'day'
Mary, so loved your comment that it is nice knowing someone is always on shift should we need each other..COOL! got a kick out of the name 'honey'..Debbie is so on target..lol...knew of a fella who was married think 3 times, said he always called his wife honey so he wouldn't make the mistake of calling her by the other's name..lol
LindaKay, what do you have planned with the boys today?
Judy, you still outside working ?
Paul brought in my nephew in-law for training, he's taking over the Hamilton office..more staff..friendly soul..
Morning Betty, right now they are just watching cartoons. Rory, the little one has a tummy ache, and some chest c ongestion, so we will take it easy today. Hoping it is just allergies? Gave him some childrens benadryl.
I really enjoyed talking to you as well, Betty - gosh we ended being gabby, didn't we? LOL
We sure did Susan..lol
LindaKay don't you think the high humidity is playing a big part in chest colds...
I'm still amazed at just how much water is in the dehumidifier in just 3 days..yikes, no wonder everything felt damp..
Because I had left the windows open on Saturday night and the seats were damp, you could smell a musty odor this morning..left a tad bit early, ended up washing the vehicle (sure did need it) and love the machines that you put $1.00 in and pick from various odor sprays..put 'new car' smell back into mine, couldn't stand the musty smell..didn't have time to vaccuum it but perhaps I'll stop in tonight and do so.
Joyce, I often think the same when I see photo's of my area..now why would one want to travel the world when we have the best in our own backyards (or nearly)..guess it's to visit friends right?
Whew - I did it - went to the gym this a.m before work!
My knee was hurting me last night, so of course DH when I told him I was going to the gym in the am, said "sure, sure........" like he didn't believe me. So of course That Was The Challenge!! I'm tired now, but have a full day's work ahead of me lol
I've got to do expense reimbursements today, and That's a job and a 1/2.........
Have a terrific day, everyone!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I had someone to edge me on..just know when I get on the WiiFit plus machine which I haven't done in months she'll be giving me the what for..maybe tonight for 1/2 hr...just got to get back to dieting and fitness..can tell I've stopped, put 1/2 the weight back on.
Hi Everyone!!!! I'm trying to catch up, skimming as fast and thoroughly as I can, but I know I've missed a ton of stuff.
First thing, ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Big big big hugs LK))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Betty I hope Riley comes back soon. Cats stress out very very easily, you shouldn't have a strange dog in the house with those two cats there, stress will kill a cat, or make them terminally ill, stress is why Tiga's terminally ill and has to live on Prednisone, and I'm going to have to break my next door neighbors heart and tell her that the two little dogs she brings over with her are going to have to stay home. She has a Bichon Frizee and a weiner dog. No big deal, right? She fed Tiga while we were gone for the weekend and when we got home Tiga was so freaked out about the dogs coming into the house she wouldn't come out from under the bed when it was us, and she looked seriously scared. She's 14 years old and terminally ill, the only reason she's alive is because she's on medication. I understand that my neighbor has an indoor cat and the dogs are 'cat friendly' but Tiga has Never been around dogs and she's not human so you can't tell her. Besides, she's too old for that.
We went to Eureka Springs this past weekend for a wedding, the wedding was 9 miles west of town at a place called The Retreat at Sky Ridge http://retreatatskyridge.com/ nothing fancy, hardly any decorations or anything, just a place to have a 10 minute ceremony and some good bbq. Dave got to see some people he has never met before, plus friends he's had for 40+ years and I got to see people I haven't seen in a year or so, we had a great time. I rented us a cabin at Arkansas White River Cabins http://whiterivercabins.com/ we had cabin #6. It was between town and the wedding site. We went to town Friday night after we got there and ate some good food, checked out the town, then went back on Saturday as the wedding didn't start until 4pm, to see the sites. I brought my camera to download the pictures but I forgot the cable, so that was a futile effort LOL!
Eureka Springs, think that Danie was saying how absolutely lovely it was. Sounds as though you and Dave got to spend quality time together..how wonderful..going to access your links to see a bit more about the area.
I can see that now Crissy, having Ned, who is a pup and soooo big and with the cone, might have sent him into hiding..I'll just wait and see..do know someone IF it was Riley has been feeding her as she was looking her normal self..
Waiting for Darlene to call, we was going shopping today and is going to look for a rug for me for living room..don't want to spend mega $$$ as Sailor keeps having accidents so I have to keep replacing..
Animals are so much company but got to tell you they are hard on the nerves..trying to decide when is a good time (if any) to have Sailor put down, if the cat comes back...etc/etc. and I thought husbands were a problem..

I feel ya about having animals put down. When me and Dave went to visit my mom and step-dad Lynn, Lynn's niece's family had this really old dog who had such a constant bladder infection she would walk around trying to pee, constantly, plus she had cancer throughout her whole body. I asked her why she didn't take her to the vet for the infections, she said they have and have tried all of the medicines, including steroids, and nothing helps, that the cancer has taken over, but they still can't stand to put her down. At that point, I'd say it's time. I couldn't do it if she just had accidents. The dog died the following week.
LOL!!!! I thought husbands were a problem!

It's the truth Crissy! lol..
Actually Darlene and Danie were trying to fix me up with an old friend...our best friends Barb and Harvey (Barb's the friend I did all the travelling with while Roger and Harvey hung out snowmobiling etc) anyway, Barb passed on about 6 years ago..well these 2 girls think we`d make a lovely couple..no thanks, been there done that...so I know if I get another invitation for dinner they`ll be up to tricks..now Harvey`s a great man, good looking but I`ve been there with men who have daughters..not somewhere I want to go again!
Crissy I`ll stick with the furries...lol
If you remember I gave my resignation in a few weeks ago..my last day was to be this Friday but Paul (BIL/Boss) asked if I'd be willing to stay on and work from home???? said that might be ok..well, he came in this morning and said he's meeting the telephone company to see what kind of system we could get that would allow me to work from home and yet if I needed time off I could transfer to someone else and they would have full access for transferring/assessments and the likes..so might be a go...yippee..in p.j.'s on blizzard days working from home..of course, I'll wear earings and nylons so I think I'm dressed up! lol
Crissy, I hesitate because Sailor is just not there yet, but if it got as bad as the dog you were saying I`d have her at the vets asap...what`s a rug here and there..
I agree, she's not ready yet Betty, she's too coherent. I thought I was going to lose Tiga when we moved, scared the pee outta me, think I ruined a few rugs! LOL
I was just going to ask you what was going on with that resignation and the phones and all.
Well, Paul said he has a meeting tomorrow with one of the phone companies, apparently their is a new headset which can be attached to any phone which gives you the ability to transfer from any of the phones to different locations and any of the head offices could do the same if I was away ..seems possible
I think you will be very happy working from home. Norm says you "are losing it" if you wear earrings and nylons!! Working from home means coffee in one hand, a computer mouse in the other, a cat in your lap and your feet up on a cushion with hair any which way.....heehee
If you want encouragement for losing weight, check out the "Fabrics for Inches" thread in the sewing forum. A bunch of us are all trying together. It will fun and I'm really taking advantage as I need to drop about 30 lbs.
hmmm Fabrics For Inches sounds like a quilter's dream LOL
I'll have to check it out LOL
LOL Barb, tell Norm though I'd be wearing them with my very best jammies, of course the jammies have remnants of painting colors on them..
Dropped into Ann's Barb, she said she sent you an e-mail and one was returned, sent a 2nd and hopes you got it..said she will definately try to call tonight, maybe Mike will be napping..
She wanted me to drop in after work which I did, both were sitting outside, relaxing near the gardens, was so nice to see..Mike looks terrific, hard to believe he's so ill.
Will check the weight thread..Susan, come join us..
She is meeting me in Midland tomorrow after work so we can do Fabricland together, just what I need, more fabric..she wants to do a rag quilt so off to find flannel..then it's t.v. bingo..she told Mike if she's a winner, a large flat screen t.v. will be purchased for him..he's all for that..
Working on my bags..little bit each night will surely finish the 3 by the weekend, then if we happen to get another rain day I'll finish the other 3..love it when you are sewing and it all comes together..sometime it's mind boggling, seams don't meet, machine acts up..when all goes well it's best to keep on trucking
Hello All !
Evening Shift is "ON" !!!!
Crissy - Hm.... that's a good question.... Ours is hung from the porch overhang.... I can't see what is at the bottom of your feeder post....but can you put some ant poison there?
I have another question... a co-worker said Hummingbirds won't drink from a feeder in the sun... YET...ours is in the sun. Does anyone know ? They seem to like ours just fine...
BETTY ! ROFLOL! "Been there with men who have daughters!" Where were you with that advice for me 8 years ago ??? Had to laugh at that...however (Knock on wood) things have been MUCH calmer as of late...
.......AND I KNOW that I have to Thank "Dear Pup/Honey/Lucky Lucy" for some of that ... Nothing like an adorable pup to get everyone back being nice to one another.
Congrats Susan on getting to the gym.... I missed last week so glad I made it tonight... but I'm so Sore.... I tried to do "Bootcamp" class... Told DH I got kicked back to "Private"****.... LOL
Betty - I'll have to use that "honey" trick at work. (Blame "Southern Charm" for the endearment!)... I'm in sales but DARN if I am bad at names most of the time !
Okay Evening Shift ! We're "ON"... I'll pop back in a bit before we turn it over to Dianne...for the "Night Shift"....
Hugs,
Mary
Disclaimer****Wondering if anyone will "get" that lame joke LOL!
Not true here either about the hummers won't feed in full sun! I have 6 feeders of the 10 I have in full sun, and they are the first to get emptied!
Thanks LK for confirming that ! I love that co-worker...just sometimes believe she's a bit 'full of it'....
How is the visit with the kiddo's coming?
Hugs,
Mary
Hi Mary, second shift is on!
VERY long day here, up and on the road to Rochester by 6:30. DS had dental appt...which turned into three appts! I was setting up appt for his cleaning...they said March! OMG...well, since teeth were OK, I agreed then she said "WAIT" our 8:15 never showed up...can he do it now? YEP! SO, at 9:10 he was done...and I went to set up my appt. and Shanes 6 month....and she said "can you do it now...our 9:00 didn't show!" SO....my mouth is so sore...but my teeth are shiney and clean. lol
I am one of those people that gets very nervous and upset stomach two days before appt....so this being sprung on me like that...I didn't have chance to get worked up.
Crissy, my mom swore that to get rid of ants....she would put flower down, around the bottom of the planter / pole and they don't cross the flower line. She did it along the base of her kitchen also...to keep ants out when her peonies were blooming.
Betty, glad to hear Mike is back home and he and Ann are able to enjoy their porch.
Wondering where Dianne is....my mind is shot, think she checked in earlier. Waving again.....I hope you got checked by the doctors today!
Waving to Linda Kay, Bev & Scotty.....Tubby, where are you?
Judy & Liz....waving hi.....OHHHH I had to give up my RC! Totally rots and talk about with drawals!
Ok, I need bed time......
We had some wonderful storms come though today and thought I could catch a nap....no such luck
Betty, praying Riley shows up at your door in the morning! Are you putting food out?
Sweet dreams everyone
Debbie

Disclaimer****Wondering if anyone will "get" that lame joke LOL!
Ok - which part is the lame joke?
And I only did 1/2 hour on the bike - my knee is "killing" me....... so I'm being gentle with it BUT exercise will build up the muscle (so I keep telling myself....) and it will only get better, right?!?!
Well - Debbie - I think you've got your future Dentist appts figured out ! Just have kids make 'fake appointments" and then cancel them once you are in the office ! NO anticipation and NO stress !
Deb - I believe Dianne is going to be our TRUE Night shift... sometime after midnight to 5am or so? Is that when the "Cows come home" Dianne?
(Tucking Deb into bed) NIght Night Deb ! Sweet Dreams !
Who is next to be tucked in?
TUBBY ! WE need a word :) For some reason I am wired. Need to get to bed.
I'll go put LuckyLucyHoneyDearPup outside. That will give me something to do.....
Hugs,
Mary
Hello Susan ! ♪♫♪♫
Well - the first time I did 'Bootcamp class" (Back in January) I texted such to DH to which he replied "Semper Fi"....
So I figured since I missed last week... (and I gave it a lame attempt today) ... that My RANK in the class was kicked back down to "Private"
(REF: Wikipedia): A Private is a soldier of the lowest military rank
I know.... LAME JOKE ! .........LOL
Mary
Evening everyone! Oh I am up Evening Shift, Night Shift and lots of times Day Shift too. Just not a sleeper and never have been apparently much to my mam's chagrin when I was a baby.Plus I can nap for 10 - 20 min and get up refreshed. In my next life I am coming back as a sleeper though!
How are you making out with your grandchildren Barb? What are their ages?
Oh heavens got to go T and L moving, I can see it coming across the lake.
Sweet dreams everyone. Do something nice for yourself tomorrow.
Dianne
Morning all! Been up for awhile but I thought I would let some of you sleep in.
BBL, coffee is calling my name.
Dianne
I'm here with coffee in hand, yawning away, overcast out there not sure what the weather will bring...
Won't gab right now, will wait until I get to work, had sewing mess to clean up before I leave as I'm not sure it's today or tomorrow that the painting gals will be here..wouldn't want paint on the bags I'm doing...
Gab when I get to the office...
Deb, food out but still no Riley, guess it wasn't she...boohoo
