Bet you could hear us singing to you Tubby...
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends
I was singing loud and clear. - Could you hear me????
Bety & Barb
Ya I could hear...LOL
Tubby
You couldn't have picked a shorter song 'Tubby' wow, have to go have a drink after that one..need to check to make sure the right bones are connected to the right bones...lol
We could almost all go on a roadband show now couldn't we..hey, maybe that's how we could all get together..start singing careers...
No Riley, boo hoo!!!
Barb, meant to tell you your card for Ann/Mike came today as well.. should be able to deliver it Saturday if not then Sunday as I'm sure he'll be home recouperating by then..God willing...
Hello To All ! The Night Shift is HERE !
Bones Bones ♪♫♪♫ Did ya hear me Tubby? Brings me back to Girl Scouts! Let's all sit Cross legged and sing "Kum-bay-ya my lord"... LOL!
I agree...Riley is close by watching for the Ned creature to exit his house... We'll see...
Debbie ! Red Lobster sounded yummy ! Now I find out Betty doesn't eat Seafood...good to know for her visit to Louisiana... hard to find GOOD Cajun food that isn't seafood... BUT I'll put some thought to it..... Agree with Betty ...you are so nice...but this is a NEED TO KNOW kind of thing. That being said... I'm JUST like you... I just hate to be demanding.... so I'm giving advice I probably would not follow...
Susan - I feel for you... can you still plan a trip there to go visit the grave and family? Don't know why your DMom would make that decision for you... so sad....
HUGS to Bev & Barb... LK - sending more prayers your way....
Betty - Well - I WISH DS was more like Kyle... I have to literally pry info out of him.... as I recall one of your boys is like that as well... well the dinner was a great time to do that...
WHat beautiful scenery for their camping trip! Does it look like your DS is stuck in the rocks? are they scuba diving in the rocks?
I'll have to look up Morgan City. Surely there would be a few antebellum homes we could catch on the way there...OH! Just looked up the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival... seems it's Sept 2-6...so early September every year. That would work. I had in my mind that you would visit in October... just considering the 'perfect month' for a visit to the area... April and October are the months EVERYTHING is planned because the weather is optimum.....
Hugs to All,,
Mary
Just got a call from Dr. at 9:30.
The results that are of concern are the glucose tolerence test...sugar levels are "a bit" high.
Diagnosis Impared Glucose metabolism aka prediabetes.....and also Hypoglycemia.
Wants to send me to a nutritionalist so I can learn about "low glycemic index foods/meals".
Whenever I am away from home, I have to carrie some of these foods with me like peanut butter & crackers, orange juice, etc.
At bedtime, I have to have something along the lines of low fat dairy product (yogert) to hopefully prevent my middle of the night waking in sweats and feeling sick in the morning.
Of course, modified diet & exercise go along with this....big surprise.
As for the kidney issue....she said the test was no where near what it was the first time, but we will repeat in 3 months, which really leads her to believe it was the high levels of diuretic at the time, and having eaten before the test.
I know it could be worse...but I am not happy. Just not good at following the rules. Grrrr! lol
Debbie
Hey Debbie -
Well if it's good news.. just have to find a way to make it work for you... I'm not a nutritionist....but there has to be something you can enjoy.....
Let me know what they say about the diet....sounds like high protein is good?
Dr.'s thought DS18 is hypoglycemic... for a while we had him bringing peanut butter tubes and crackers to school.... for around midday.
I know I've not eaten doughnuts or pancakes, etc. for breakfast for YEARS...because they would make me light headed... I have to have protein in the morning....
Well - now you know...so can make a plan..... (((HUGS))) and good night !
Mary
Thank you for your thoughts about my auntie Myrt (Myrtle). I understand from the obit that she went peacefully, but she was only 88! She was your stereotypical Farm Girl, and was always as strong as an ox, so it's doubly sad and she only had cancer for 2 months. They gave her 6 months, but God decided to take her earlier.......
Had a viewing of our mobile tonight, the salesman said it was a positive showing, but the fellow said he would "ponder it". My feeling is - if they don't put in an offer when they see it, they're likely going to get "cold" on it and not make an offer at all. That's what I was told once, by a realtor, and I can see the reasoning behind what he said. Buying a home is an emotional thing, and "out of sight, out of mind"......
Morning everyone!
Susan, sorry to hear about your Aunt passing and your Mom not telling you. I would be upset also. I found a few months ago, that my Moms brother, my uncle passed in January, and no one in the family was told about it! Everyone was really upset. His grandkids just had a simple memrial, and had him cremated. Then they ransacked the house, took what they wanted, and left the rest to the realtor to try to sell. Pretty sad!
Sending my sympathies as well Susan. It's difficult when our parents make our decisions for us when we get older and can make them for ourselves. . I'm sure she meant well. Our children have been doing the same thing as far as financial goes since my DH got laid off. They have been deciding what we need to spend our money on instead of letting us decide. We finally got angry when we found out they weren't telling us about fund raising at the kids schools. We have always supported them in the past and they decided we couldn't do that anymore. I'm afraid we were terribly hurt by that as you were about being kept in the dark concerning your aunt. They know now that those are OUR decisiions to make and we will do what WE feel are needs as opposed to wants. Hope this makes sense. We do know they love us very much....
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1962/
Look at todays article about birdhouses! WOW!
Had a Drs appt yesterday. My anemia and gestational diabetes tests came back good, so I am happy about that. When she measured me she said that we were bigger than normal. Meaning that my uterus and hence my belly and the baby are bigger than they should be at this point. So in about 4 weeks I will go back to the Maternal Fetal Medicine unit at the Toledo Hospital and have an ultrasound to make sure the blood flow to the placenta is still good with the high blood pressure and to measure the baby's size to see if we need to alter the due date. I also now start having Drs appts every 2 weeks instead of 4 weeks..
Guess I need to get going on finishing that diaper bag huh?????
Morning all...was out hunting for Riley again this morning, no go..still missing..by the time I got all the other furries organized for their day it was time to rush about...Barb, sent my quilt blocks out and a postal USA money order..she said it takes about 7-10 days to get there so don't rush off to the mailbox..lol...yes, you'd better get moving on the diaper bag..did you find a pattern or do you want me to get the pattern for my big pocket bags so you can alter slightly to make it into diaper bag???
Mom just called, said she didn't sleep half the night, still in pain, she's been putting off getting her knees done but think she has no choice but to get it done..said she'll call the doctor..don't know how she thought she could go to Buffalo when she says she's not evern up to doing the boutiques and Meaford..guess my weekend is free unless of course I decide that I want to go in search of treasures myself..
Mary, singing with your southern accent added a special touch..and the photo's of the grotto are not of my family, they were website photo's encouraging tourism, family should be home today so likely they'll have mega photo's to share of their own adventures..got to tell you, I sure do live in God's country..don't you worry about what I'd eat Mary, balogna sandwhich always hits the spot..remember my last visit to New Orleans, ordered a soup and yuk/yuk there was a skeleton of something floating inside, needless to say I had a drink and didn't touch the soup..
LindaKay, aren't those birdhouses to die for..wow..couldn't you just see them in your gardens? was so gung ho on doing the 5 birdhouse condo weeks ago and there they sit, still unpainted..give me a push won't you all so I'll find energy to get them done..thanks for sharing..I have seen some of his work when he was on another thread I lurked on..
Debbie, are you somewhat relieved? have you ever taken these meds.I'm with you, it's a hard road to travel watching your diet but no worse than living in pain such as you have been..glad they will continue to check out the kidneys, that's a plus.
Barb, know where you are coming from with the kids and parents...on Friday when she called and I mentioned going to Kempenfest, first words out of her mouth were 'well if you gave in your termination for employment, shouldn't you be watching what you are spending and keep it for a rainy day' took me all of a second to say "let me worry about my finances..if I run out of $$$ I'll worry about it then - could be dead by then' lol
Greg, not Jeff, often when he visits goes on about 3 t'v's on, lights on, a/c on and front door open except for screen door and it's don't you know how much it cost for hydro..I always add 'do I ask you to pay for my hydro - do you have a $300. credit going all year?? no, then I wouldn't worry..same thing at Christmas..goes on and on about how much I spend, no need to do so, just make it a family thing..well, Christmas IS MY THING, if I didn't have $$ to spoil them then I wouldn't....my sibblings as well often comment about mom & Jim having 3 places..cottage, home and Florida and about Jim still working..well he loves working, they seem to do anything they want to do so not to worry..everybody has a comment about someones finances..
I often go back to when Roger was alive, always had a new boat, skidoo, seado, nothing was missing..everyone would say 'you should be saving for a rainy day...well, he died at 47 so no rainy day for him and I have to say, while he was here he sure did enjoy himself... guess my speech for the day has ended!
Stacey, could you have miscalculated? Glad he's meeting with you every 2 weeks, best keep close tabs on you.
You know me and my weekend 'to do' list, here's what I'm hoping to achieve this weekend..get that flower shed located and finished (would be done if I could move it on my own), get the birdhouses painted white and maybe even put on a platform..use up last of the cement to make hypertufa container and if I've gotten that done I'll be thrilled.. now let's see just how much of it I actually get done..
On my way home today if we get to go home at 1pm, I'll go to the fabric store across the street to see if I can find off white or beige material for my quilt blocks, then drop in the Craighurst to pick up adhesive backed flannel for the bags, then drop into Elmvale for the nursery and pick up fresh corn/tomatoes/beans - have a t-bone steak waiting for me for supper..then into Fabricland, paper said all was 50-75% off, see what I can pick up..Canadian tire for the extendable window washer (ooooh my windows sure do need a cleaning..if they have one in stock I think I'll power wash the house and do windows in my spare time this weekend...then to TimBrr, need a few supplies so figure out that I'll get home about 5pm..most likely by then Greg/Mel and the boys should be home by tonight unless they decide they'll stay for a few more days..
Susan, let's hope the realtor is right and you are not!!! hugs for you my friend..
Susan, so very sorry about your Aunt. I had an Aunt Myrtle and she sounded a lot like your dear Aunt. There was Myrtle & Pearl...then my Grandma Flossie! So glad we all have better choices of names these days! lol
Stacy, you be careful with that baby size. All of my kids were BIG. My first daughter was 9 lb 4 oz...and 21 inches...a chub. Her placenta had started falling apart...she was too big, and over due. So, keep an eye on that...they are doing the right thing for you....never thought a baby would beat her with weight.....then my son was 10 lbs and 5 oz...and 23 inches..and somehow I had him natural. I swear he was born walking! lol Take care of yourself.
Yes, watching the diet is going to be VERY hard for me, as each one of us in the family has different dietary needs....and it just exhausts me. Now to add these on top...I have to find an "in between" for all of us. Came to the conclusion I am making a meal.....if they don't want it...they are all working and have $$...they can order something from town or make something here. Give me the strength to follow through with this!
Having my coffee then getting the kids up for work and their day. I won't wake them in the morning as I so enjoy the peace and quiet! lol
Debbie
Drats..just got an on-line flyer from Joann's...they have an organizing and cutting area on sale for $129.99 and Christmas print 50% off and flannel at $2.79 yard...now why did I say I wouldn't cross the border this weekend..
Thinking of Ann and Mike this morning. They pop in and out of my thoughts all the time. Must be a good thing!!!!
I'll get busy on the diaper bag. I do have a pattern Betty so I'm all set. Thank you my friend for your offer.
Made this for my daughter's MIL - just need to add the binding and instead of a sleeve on the back she wants tabs.
Off to the sewing room I go...
Betty-my dr is a she;)LOL I have no desire to have some man other than Chris down in that region;) Not sure about the miscalculation-everything was right on track til this visit.
I have to say that I have been guilty of wondering about certain peeps finances, but I never say anything to them. I just talk to DH about it. My worry is the other end of the spectrum too-more like with what person A & B bring home in a month why don't they stop buying stupid things like a golf cart and try to save their home from foreclosure type worry. But as it really isn't any of my business, I leave it at that.
I too think Riley is hiding from Ned. Just to be safe though did you check all the closets/rooms to make sure he isn't trapped in one...kinda like Missy was??
Betty I am going to a Joanns this morning - is there anything special you are looking for?
LOL you deserve to enjoy a quiet morning Debbie..you cook what is best for you am sure it won't be terrible tasting and if they get hungry they know where the refrigerator is...now aren't you glad you enjoyed turkey last weekend..I'm still hankering for turkey..best put that on my grocery list..bought steak for last night and decided I wasn't hungry so it has to be cooked today..
Just heard from Kyle, they are starting to pack up and to head home but once they reach Meaford they'll stop off to his other grandparents and he's staying to week..said I might take a run (1 1/2 hr. drive) this weekend, told me to let him know and we'd do lunch..too cute...
Still looking Barb for the water soluble thread, no can find here...
That cupboard they have advertized..lol..want one..I'll go back to the flyer and see how long it's on for then before taking a run I'll phone to make sure they have one..
Love the quilt, of course I love red/white/black as you know from my monthly blocks...wish I could go with you..
I've been stacking up on materials at Fabricland..they close mid September so am sure the last week I'll get whatever fabrics are left for pennies..always nice to have stock..
Stacey, it always amazes me when I have discussions with potential clients...many have the cards up to date, vehicle loans paid but not their mortgage or taxes, you would think that would be 1st on their agenda but they must have a good reason for doing so... yep, hard enough to keep ahead of things without worrying about someone else's finances..
Betty, put some food out....and see if it has been touched by morning...will hopefully see Riley is around and eating. Unless you still have the stray white kitty your trying to pawn off on me. LOL
NOW, if you come over this weekend...let me know. Saturday is full with FIL's birthday party....but Sunday I can sneak away. Will sale be going on NEXT weekend? lol
Stacey, I had a female doc for one of my babies....and I hated her. She was very cold hearted....told me I was loosing my baby...and get over it, I had 3 kids. I switched doctors...and he delivered my son healthy. I hope yours is much friendlier and makes you feel safe. I found the men more compassionate and understanding.
Barb, August 14th is the sale finishing date..they also have a personal circuit cutter reg. $199.99 on for $89.99 now that's a good price as well..wow, could have really gotten into trouble had I gone this weekend..if it wasn't for mom saying her legs are so bad I'd tell her I changed my mind about going...to make matters worse Debbie, Christmas Tree just sent me their add..many of the treasures are $20 or less..yikes...
Odd that a man would be more compasionate than a woman..guess you get a bit of both .. I always had a male Dr. am sure with their training and their seeing woman after woman of all ages the last thing they want to do is 'peek' lol..
Just posted the sale is on until August 14th Debbie...off to look at the Christmas Tree flyer..
I'd be in big trouble if I took a ride over on my own now wouldn't I????
I'll check around again about water soluable thread. Do you want me to check out Christmas fabrics? I bought a put-together armoire at Lowes for under $150 and that's what I use to store fabrics. Much more efficient than cabinets.
Looked at the Christmas Tree e-mail..just comes up to say all school supplies are in...actual flyer coming shortly..
Barb, think this cupboard was more for scrapbooking as it had areas for sheeting about same size, top was for cutting but think it could be used for storage of sewing materials..NOT that I need much more storage in my workshop..
Thanks for the offer Barb, will go to a few fabric shops on my way home today, don't need a lot only have 6 blocks to finish, well, 5 as I'm almost done 1 for Sept. group..Fabricland had Christmas material on sale, print was too big for quilt blocks but would be perfect for backing of a laptop so I should be ok..am sure I'll be your side of the border at least once before September..
Okay then - I'm off.....
Betty, I saw on you tube, you can use the cricut for cutting fabric shape for like applique pieces. Are they expensive?
Now you have your birdhouses to finish, and your stained glass item to finish if you don't cross the border, but I believe your going to move your outhouse also???
Good Day Everyone,
Yesterday was just one of those days, My emotions kind of all over the place.
So I had a special fire...An offering if you will, My prayers for all my DG friends and family members.
Decided I will have a fire each night and present my prayers and thoughts, I sure hope it helps.
I asked all the kids to send up offerings as well. I told them of Baby Lillie Marie, we said a special prayer for her fight
to survive...
I spent the entire day surfing all the Job search engines, sent off a couple of resume's...
Started an application for the Park District, it's one of those you need not finish all at one time, so I didn't complete it.
I do intend to complete it today and hit send...There are several choices, Choosing all the ones that, I feel qualified and just needed to walk away create my list of references, had a few more name to add. Anyway, checking my E-mail later in the evening, I received an invitation from them to apply for a Part time 9-3 Reception position, $11.00 starting!! Wow, I was dumbfounded as I did not finish the app. You bet I have now completely finished it and hit send...It's the first real positive thing I've heard from all the resume's I've sent...
What is really irritating is I have to continually type in the same thing over and over, lol it gets tiring and really old, bottom line, I learned searching for a job totally STINKS...I was excited to tell Steve about it and the first thing he says is That I need a Full time position with Benefits. OMG, almost burst into tears, hands on the hips, said who cares about full time, right now I just need a job, a shoe in the door.
What can I say almost 2 years of applying and they found me! Doesn't matter, that I didn't complete the app. Well he finally got it and agreed I should apply, the hours are perfect and its minutes from home!! So crossing my fingers for a call.
Steve seems to think, the deck survived all the rains, So with that, we moved all the stuff back to their places. Today, I am hoping to get the picnic bench sanded and stained, needs it bad. Also
Finally taking my tiller in to be fixed! Turns out, he really likes the wild look of the jungles, because it does look totally natural and brings us some wild life too, ROFLOL, this way I can also keep working on his projects. Next on to do list, Start stripping the house.
hahaha, he says it will probably only take a couple hours, which means an entire day!
Thank you all for Birthday wishes for Jacob, he thought that was so neat of you. That day was Crazy!! Took Breenie to Doc, got a perscription and proceeded to leave my folder with the kids important papers on the counter!! So Drove all the way back, then shopping for a few gifts, by time I got back it was 5:30. Realized I forgot to take dinner out f freezer, so we decided to go out for his b-day dinner.
OMG, we were stuffed. Went to Bob Chins, for Seafood and Steak. I had the Salad Bar and a side of Crab that I tossed in the salad, yummmy, Jake got his favorite, Crab legs, which, I knew he would share with me!!
Smiling as I say, while I didn't sing with you, did hum while tapping my foot...That's such a fun song!
Happy to announce tho that I did finish the second block and will finish the third today, just have to sew the 9 nieces together now and Mail tomorrow!! Yaayyy, ahead of schedual.
I'll be back in a few, want to comment on your posts.
see you then.
Susan I'd be mad, that sucks.
Debbie I'm hypoglycemic and have never had any of those classes, honestly didn't know they existed, maybe I'll look into taking one too! All I know is when I'm hungry and I know that I need a meal, I eat. With me it doesn't matter what I eat, I just have to have Something. I've been doing fine on my banana breakfast, Lean Cuisine lunch, some sort of fruit during the middle of the day, plus a pudding cup or something light, then dinner right when I get home. If I wait to eat my blood sugar drops (I guess) and I get into a very bad mood.
Well I've got to scoot, I'll see everyone later, probably not til Monday.
Are you going away for the weekend or just spending quality time with hubby? my downfall is iregular meals for sure..should be on a better schedule..
there is but one cloud over this building and it's raining, rest of the sky is blue..so funny..
Judy, how exciting for you to receive an e-mail wanting you to continue with the job process...wouldn't it be wonderful and look at those hours..perfect for you..let's hope you get it...men, they just don't understand at time (sorry tubby am sure you do) lol..
Know what your evening fires do for you, great time to meditate and pray..am sure all your prayers will be ansered, especially for Lillie Marie who is just starting her journey..
Are your birthday celebrations all but over???
Glad you don't have to re do the deck now you can concentrate on the back wall of the house...what a sense of accomplishment you must get seeing the transformation..now if we all lived closer we could gather, go from house to house and do staging, cleaning and decluttering, not so sure that I'd not come home will all the clutter but would try not to...
LindaKay, I've never heard that the cricuit can cut material..I've got the 'go' that does my cutting but that's an interesting concept, so many pattern discs on the market..will check it out..think there is this smaller unit and the the big one which usually sells for about $399.99 ... where did you see the info?? can you direct me???
Paul has called twice but nobody told me we are leaving at 1 so maybe it's a 3pm closing today...crossing my fingers we'll get a call shortly..want to do everything I have to do in town and then park the car for the weekend and enjoy..
Judy, I am in the same boat as you. Been looking for a job so long, I am loosing track to who I actually applied and didn't. Tell Steve, this is part-time NOW...but when they see you do a good job, or someone leaves, you will probably be first on the list to go Full time...with benefits. AND...in that position, you will find out of other offices hiring and needing help...when someone moves on. I have had quite a few jobs start out filling in for someone on maternity or illness leave...that turned into full time. Don't let him burst your bubble....and NOT for $11.00 an hour...that is a good pay check compared to if you were to start at minimum wage.
Crissy, That is what I thought...but there is something with this "sugar" and kidney issue...that I won't fit directly into the hypoglycemic category. Things need to be modified....and nutritionist will help me list that out. I am like you....just know I am hungry and eat. But with this "crash" thing recently....I have almost fainted several times, act "drunk" when trying to walk a straight line wobbling all over the place...and the shakes and sweats are NOT fun. They are even happening in middle of the night....which I thought was hot flashes. Nope, not!
Debbie
Debbie, for you to get an office job of types you'd have quite a distance to travel wouldn't you? That must be an overwhelming feeling..lucky you haven't been stopped by the authorities and asked to walk a straight line..that wouldn't be good...
Just got an e-mail..closing at noon...horrah, doing happy dance..
Meant to ask Debbie, do you see any recession improvement at all..don't think because of our banking system that we got hit as bad...
Now they have just initiated the new HST Tax..wow, I bet that causes a slow down in the housing market
This message was edited Aug 6, 2010 11:41 AM
Betty, no I do not. It is horrible here, and DH is very worried.
Yes, for me to get a "decent" job in an office sitution...I would have to drive anywhere from 30 to 45 miles....and with winters, that is not really desireable. I have applied at local hospital, Admin office....and really hopes that comes through. Its only about 10 miles...same with a few doctors office I have have applied too. Its a waiting game, as with the economy no one wants to leave a job for fear of not finding another.
I have even applied at Walmart & grocery stores. Especially for customer service and in the offices. Target is hiring...but its over 30 mile drive. Patience is a virtue....lol I have none.
Enjoy your afternoon off early!
My Brother called me a little bit ago, to tell me that Lillie Marie is not doing well. They have her sedated, becasue she can't eat for for at least 3 days, becasue her little body is not processing anything. Because she is not eating, she is loosing weight, and the ability to fight. If the meds they have her on, do not work by tomorrow, they will have to do surgery if the family allows, but have been told, because she is so tiny, she will not survive surgery.
I guess I am aksing for prayers for God to do what is right for the precious little girl!
Thanks
I will post as soon as I hear anything else.
LK
Oh Linda Kay, my heart is just breaking for you and her family.
The surgery is a "shot in the dark" but it just "might" work....they don't know the fight IN that girl. Such a very very hard decision...as a parent, I know I would probably "try" the surgery if told she would not survive regardless...at least it is a little bit of possiblity.
Lots of hugs, prayers coming your way
Debbie
Oh Linda Kay,
I am so sorry to hear this,
Prayers continue all day for Baby Lillie Marie.
Debbie - my aunts are/were - Florence, Jean, Myrtle, Ethel, and my mom May. My mom is the oldest girl - she's 91.
LK - I'm praying very hard for the whole family........
Blessings, thoughts and prayers for all in need
Praying as well LindaKay, I'm with Debbie, if it's a hopeless situation then why not take the chance..must be overwelming for the family to make that choice...and here she was doing so well, just went back to your last photo and thought 'this little one will go home much sooner than they think..she does look like a fighter...hugs to you and yours...
