Congratulations on the new job Kassy.
Gypsy Harvest continues
Congratulations Kassy. They knew a good thing when they saw it. ^_^
Good on you Kassy. I guess they know a winner when they see one. I know BF is thrilled and your DS and DIL will be "surprised" to say the least....GRIN
Thanks everyone. ^_^
Jean, they knew I was starting to look for a job up here. They took over the lease on the place we are living in June and had my name taken off it.
It was the DIL's mother who told me one of the places was hiring up here, but that's not the place I was hired by. I get the feeling she wanted me not so close to the baby since she is so far away.
JJ, I'm not sure how well they are taking it. I e-mailed my son after I posted this to let him know. I have heard nothing back yet.......LOL
He may be sitting there going "oh ". Not only will they be taking over all the bills there as soon as I move, but he knows just about everything there is mine. Washer, dryer, freezer, couch, rocking chairs, table, microwave, toaster oven........to name a few things.
Then to top it off, soon they will be having to pay Daycare for when the DIL goes back to work.
BF is still layed off. He had 2 interviews up here recently, and didn't get either job. So many are out of work now. And there are not a lot of jobs for him in this area to begin with. One of the companys he worked at for over 20 years moved to Mexico.
Yesterday after he found out I was offered the job he kept saying, "Yup, jobs are really easy to get up here". LOL
I told him he might want to think about going into heath care.
They will find out in a hurry just how much you did, that they took for granted. Let see how phsychic I am.
But mom you already have funiture up there, you can use his you don't need all yours.
We need that. LOL
I think the surprise will come when they actually see you moving out and the "luxuries" they have become accustomed to having go with you. The job market is not the best anywhere...a close friend of mine is an engineer and he was out of work for 18 months....and he was willing to take a job in a three state radius....
The daycare/babysitter loss is really gonna hit them where they live......
LOL JJ, Boy, you got it right there!
But I kind of told my son that if they want the things they have to come up with some money for them.
I just kind of told him, "you just never know if the BF and I will stay together, and then I would be without anything."
I just had to do that so he got the hint that I'm not walking out without my things or some cash for them.
DIL seemed to be under the impression that my BF has all new things. Not sure where she got that impression from and there not mine!
You have no idea just how much I have done for them.
Jean, BF is a Tool and Die Maker and a Machinest. He has been out of work for 16 months already.
The place I work at right now has to pay me out for my PTO that I didn't use. Around 176 hours of it. I told my BF we are getting a new dryer for his place with some of that pay out if the kids decide to pay me some for mine. His needs to be replaced.
I agree with you Kassy ya never know what could happen and you need to have some things of your own. I bet I have a good idea of how much you have done, somehow they never live in the same world we do, they always think we are rich and can work miracles. LOL
Hey JJ, I've been e-mailing back and forth with my son. He said they have decided that they will buy the washer and dryer from me. They would be fools not to, seeing they know the machines so well. And I'm not asking that much for them. There Maytags, so they should last a number of years yet. And I'm throwing in my small freezer with them and the dehumidifier. Their getting a really good deal.
I didn't give him a price on the couch yet, but I have a feeling they will take that too. The rocker recliner he said no to, as DIL wants a glider rocker. Works for me as BF's rocker recliner really needs to be replaced. I was thinking about maybe getting him one for Christmas if mine didn't move up here. I still might, or I'll wait a year and get him one.
I told my son to start looking into building me a new computer with too. He knows what works together and can build them from ordering parts. I told him lots of memory and lots of space.
At the price of things they better buy what they need from you if you are willing to sell it. At least thne you know how old it is and what it's been through.Maybe when they're done buying your things you won't have to much to move.
So when do you start the new job or have you started already?
Hi everybody. Just wanted to let you all know that we have reached a milestone....a solid year of Gypsy threads. Happy Anniversary Folks. The original meet and greet thread....the one from Luping asking for a Basil ID was deleted...this is the first surviving thread..
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1027404/
I'm the new kid on the block. That was interesting reading!
australogypsycus in the making!
I was a slug that migrated to the basil
Jean! Boy, did you bring back memories!!! ^_^
LOL JJ....I never did quite take to the slug thead. I think I posted on it once and said "to get rid of slugs, get chickens. Chickens will eat anything that won't eat them, well almost".
Smiley, you should have saw our first thead that got deleted, the Basil ID thread. We had a lot of fun on it and had a lot of followers who just read and didn't post.
Administration said it was too long, so it's gone :( But there was a lot of good information on that one.
JJ, I have started some with this company up here already. They sure are in a hurry to get me started. The date the position came open was today. So why did they wait so long to post the job in the paper? Applications had to be in by the 20th. And that does not include an interview that happened on the 27th. So how did they think anyone could give their place of work a 2 week notice?
I started hiring paper work and did some reading and watched a video so far. I was there 4 1/2 hours on Monday. I got copies made for her that she needed on Tuesday and dropped them off for her. I refuse to do anything today. I am on vacation from the other place today, so I'm taking that time off from both of them. Tomorrow I have to go back early and try to find my supervisor and give her my 2 week notice. And then I work 6 in a row and sometime in that time I have to fit in a physical and a TB test for this place. And then she wants me to start training next Thursday. Sheesh, I'm tired out already!
Getting that physical and TB test done and getting it read on time is going to be interesting, with a holiday landing on Monday and her wanting me back up here on Wednesday night so I can train on Thursday.
Sheesh Kassy nothing like them waiting until the last minute.
Good luck with all that, makes me tired just reading about it. LOL
Happy Anniversary, Gang. I was a part of both the basil and slug thread. The most fun I ever had was on those threads. It is a shame they were deleted. There was a lot of good information on those threads as well as a good time.
Yup, over a thousand posts and some of the best info, best humor and best camaraderie a site could ask for, but most importantly, it brought together a fine group of good folks. And, in all that time, Luping never came back.....LOL
I guess she found her answer..LOL
Happy Anniversary Jim, I think you were the very first person I talked to on DG.
Answered me about my tomato problems, yep all this came about for me because my darn tomato plant was dying...never new a bad thing could turn out so great..and just keeps getting better ^_^
This is a good place to make friends. Miss some of the older friends, Rachael, Cat and others
I miss Ican, but from the last time I heard from her, long time ago, she had some guy keeping her busy.
Dave would jump in a lot more back then too. Miss that and all his pictures.
Jim, I remember back when, by the powers vested in you, you dubbed me an honorary red neck, after you saw my snow pictures. ROTFL
And Jean, I think you thought I was crazy when I was so happy to have a blue eyed grass plant growing here. LOL
Hey, what can I say, I love the thing. Most of our grass up here doesn't blossom!
We still have no idea where it came from, other then it might have been a seed in some top soil my BF got. It is going it's job and spreading baby plants ^_^
I think I remember seeing that about Ican being busy. LOL
Yep Jim a really good place to make friends, I must agree.
Hows the new Job kassy?
Hi JJ,
Haven't started at the new one yet. Had to get that physical in and the TB test done. Just got that all done this morning after work. Have to go back on Thursday and have the TB test read, and then I'm headed north. I'll probably be training up there a few days and then I have to come back to this place for one last night (after tonight) on next Wednesday night.
Then I'll be packing more in my car again and heading back up north.
A friend called and asked me if I need 2 men and a truck and a trailer. She is offering me her sons and their truck and trailer for anything big I have to move. ^_^
I told her I won't be moving any of the big things yet. Have to get settled into the job up there first, and then make trips back to go through things.
The funny thing is, the morning I end work here next week, my DIL goes back to work and Kirstie goes to Daycare. What timing.
Have to say I kind of feel sorry for my son, because I think he will be the one having to get her to Daycare in the morning, and try to get dressed and ready for work when she will probably be awake.
I've never seen a person not let a baby out of her sights as much as my DIL does. Seems she always has her eye on her. I'm still trying to figure out what she is going to do at her age, that she is watching her so close.
He will figure out how to do it, we did. LOL
I think watching the baby gives them an excuse not to do much of anything else.
At least Kirstie will get use to other people at the daycare, Ava is always with her mom and cries alot if mom is not holding her..big mistake...but what do I know. Even the 5 yr old will start crying if she leaves him for over an hour. I asked him ..do you cry at school?
He said no but I miss my mom when I'm there, She never left him anywhere either.
Well I'm sure the job will go fine once you get started. Try to get a little rest with all that running back and forth.
Lot of good memories. Last I heard from Cat she had re-married.
I hope the new job goes really good.
Guess that guy kept her really busy... huh
Oh to be young again!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL and know what we know now
You are so right. I youth is wasted on the young. Have to get my age to really know what's what.
I agree....you have to be at least 30 before you understand that naps are a really good thing....grin
Used to love rainy days when I was a newly married man and farming.
I'm envious. My vines are running everywhere and have been blooming forever and not a pumpkin yet. I am assuming it is due to the high heat not letting them pollinate. Congrats on the pumpkins.
I only planted two plants this year and one died so I only have one and it's in the farmers field so I have to keep a close eye and get them out before he picks the corn.
I had one big one rot so I h'm hoping whatever happened to it don't happen to these three.
I only let four grow so they would get BIG.
Wow JJ, Nice!
Sorry, I haven't been on for a while. Last Wednesday morning I finished work at my other job. Went home and packed up part of the car, and then had to make a trip into the store in Green Bay. Also stopped by the main office of where I worked to give them my chage of address, and was kind of hoping to see the head one over the company to say "good-bye" to her, but she was in a meeting.
Went back to the house and finished loading the car as full as I could get it, then headed up here. I had to be to work up here the next day. Boy, my legs were tired and sore from all the going up and down the stairs loading and unloading the car. :(
Found out my new client likes me ^_^
He let the lady who took care of him full time know, and she said when she told him I was coming in today, he was happy.
BF got a job through a hiring agency and he is working 6am to 2pm this week. I work 2pm to 10pm, so I guess we won't be seeing much of each other this week! He was in bed when I got home and he will be gone when I get up.
Boy, this is going to be kind of like living alone. I have Wednesday and Thursday off, so we may see each other then some, but I also have to go back and pack some more and take a cat to the vet there.
Congratulations to your BF. I know that must be a weight off his mind....and am sure he is delighted to have you with him. May be a good thing....give you a chance to settle in, uninterrupted....grin So good to hear your new client is happy to have you with him. Will make life easier for you both. How is that Grandbaby? WE need a picture....grin I'll show you mine if you show yours......LOL
You have been busy. Glad you and your new client hit it off....but I knew you would.
Glad BF got a job..I'm sure he was more than ready to go back to work. Maybe you should get a truck and when you both have a day off go get your things all at once..hopefully before the snow flies. I'm sure Kirstie is getting big...Moon is right WE need a picture. Ava is growing leaps and bounds finally.
