just so everyone knows whats up with me lately

Delhi, LA

She put up green beans for Mark and purple hull peas for Mark, Ava and us. She's put up a llittle okra as well as peppers. She has up about 40 qts. of fig preserves and 28 pts. of grape jelly. We have enough grapes in the freezer to put up about 40 more pts. of jelly when she gets time.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Wow that woman has been busy Jim, you need to take her on a vacation after all that.

Hi Imzadi!

Delhi, LA

I wanted to go to Hot Springs for a few days but she wouldn't go.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I'll go, I'll go. LOL

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hot Springs, Dang Jim, what are you trying to do kill her LOL Take her to a cool mountain cabin for a weekend or to some tourist attractions like an aquarium and wrap it up with a nice restaurant with a big fat juicy steak that she doesn't have to cook. That woman needs some pampering after all that food prep. Come on guy, you can do it! Tell him Gypsies!

Delhi, LA

Hot Springs is in the Ozark Mountains.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Beautiful mountain views, icy creeks and bath water warm springs....Hot Springs is beautiful. There is always Blanchard Caverns a bit further North....just off the White River and also beautiful.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I looked it up Jim and it is a really nice place to kick back and take in. I take back all the bad things I said about you :-) JJ, Moon, get your swim suits I'll meet ya there!

Delhi, LA

I'm in a forgiving mood Flowers, so I except your apology. We use to go to Hot Springs every summer before the kids moved to Ohio. We love it up there. Good place to be lazy and a nice place to walk. There are a few pretty good restaraunts up there, also.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Way ahead of ya Flowers..said I would go way back when.
Heck I'd go pert near anywhere if it gets me out of the house. LOL

Delhi, LA

Pert is a red neck work, jjs. You got some southern roots?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Yeah JJ, it's pert near 90 here, hope you got your short britches on. :-)

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Don't think so. Guess I been hanging around you guys to long. LOL
It is 96 to be exact and I got my daisey dukes on.

Delhi, LA

Daisy Dukes might be worth a trip to IL. Our temp is running at 101 with a 116 heat index. Never thought I'd say this but I'm ready for some cool weather.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Be forewarned they don't look the same on me as they do on her. LOL

Delhi, LA

You are forgetting I know what you look like. This heat will make us all look for something light and airy.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I'm with you Buddy, autumn sure is looking better all along. JJ just sport those Dukes girl, whatever keeps you cool. Right now I wouldn't mind being an ice cube LOL

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Now lets talk about rain.... Done with work and back at my BF's again until next wednesday or thursday.
Rained again this morning and we have another one coming through tonight. He had a bad storm up here just a few days ago. 2 miles down the road, winds took down 8 trees in one yard. One of them went into the house. We may take a drive that way tomorrow, depending on weather.
Weather man said tonight that we are ONE inch away from breaking the all time record for the most rain in one year. And we are only in August!!! There are flash flood warnings being posted all over the state.
Glad we are on high land here, but we get the winds here :-(

JJ, BF brought in a cucumber that is a foot long tonight ^_^
He checked what he planted because he thought he had planted 2 kinds. The ones that are growing so long are called "Slicers".

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, wow! You need that -- rain rain to go away and come again another day!
I guess we got 2" rain tonight. We are just breaking records for the heat.

Are those the real skinny cucumbers? Photo!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

That's a long cucumber Kassy.
Been cooped up all winter don't like to be cooped up in the summer because of rain. We gave gotten our share lately. It brings out the skeeters and I hate skeeters, but they like me.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Here you go Venice. Bet you can't guess what one is the straight nine cucumber. Just kidding. Only one of them in the bunch.

Gotta go now and do a few things, then will post some more pictures later ^_^

Nice Kassy, are you gonna put up bread and butter pickles with them? Here is some vegies from DD's little garden. Banana peppers, cherry tomatoes and potatoes, not a big amount but enough pickings every feww days to add to the supper table. :-)

Kassy, nice cucumbers! I like bread and butter pickles also.

Flowers, nice collection of little veggies. Are the yellow ones grape tomatoes? So cute. How do they taste?

You better tell that grandson that he grew some mighty fine pumpkins!

BTY, Shawn brought his friend over to day to look at my car also. Wouldn't you know, he had a similar problem once. Just the back right turn signal light and back break light needed to be replaced. Runs perfectly for only $12! I am sure the dealer would have charged me at least 10 times that to figure out the problem.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OH yummmy Flowers. I love those little yellow tomatoes that your DD grew. We had them 3 years in a row in the BF's garden. We only planted them one year, and the other 2 years they grew by seeding themselves. Some of them had stayed on the graden, stayed there over winter, and when BF planted the garden they would end up coming up on their own. They look like little pears to me. I was looking forward to them coming up again, but this year they didn't :(

Venice, those little yellow tomatoes I could eat like candy.......yummmmmmm.
That's why I was hoping we would have them again this year.

Nice pumkins Flowers ^_^

BF brought in 2 long cucumbers again tonight.
I'm going to be making Cold Sliced Pickles with some of them. You don't can them, they are really easy to make. Just have to have the room in the refrig to keep them. Sliced green pepper and slice onion goes in with them. They will last in the refrig until about Christmas time. The recipe was my mom's.

OK, gotta get off here now, but first, here is my latest petunia that blossomed ^_^

Yummy bunch of veggies Flowers and Kassy...pretty MG color too. Tell GS those are mighty fine pumpkins...are ya gonna make a pie for him?

Venice...so good you got your car fixed and so cheaply too. Morning JJ.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

My hyacinth bean vine had 2 bunches of blossoms that were dying back when I got here. I got this picture of one of them. I'm hoping more will open while I'm here.

Hyacinth beans are such lovely vines and require so little care.....my kinda plant....grin

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

They are pretty, if you can get them to grow. I ended up with only 2 of them this year. First I had the chipmunks digging them out right after I planted them. Moved the container they were in, into the house until they got a good start, and then I had some kind of worm killing them.........sheesh, it was a battle to get things to grow this year.
Now that 2 blossom bunchs on them are ending, seed pods are forming, so hopefully I'll get seeds from them to try again next year.

A butterfly checking out my daylily
