LOL, I can well imagine..Steve is quite the man...
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
Betty
Your new word...
My other dog...
............................Shadow..................
Tubby
I don'thave any kitties. The one I found at 2 weeks old was meatball. I gave it to my son to raise, and he found another one that looks just like him. So it is meatball and spaghetti. The grandkids named them!
Betty any word from surgery yet?
Still waiting to hear LindaKay, just walked in, let the doggies out so now I'll check my e-mails..
Tubby, how many dogs do you have..lol.
I'll just organize myself here and be back to do 'Shadow'
JUST RECEIVED the following:
He's out of surgery. It went really well. Cancer has been confirmed but everything is optimistic. He'll probably be in 2-3 days
Further details when we get home....
Love to all who prayed! Miracles can happen...
Oh Betty I am so relieved. Thank you for letting us know. Please give Ann and Mike my very best wishes and I hope to talk with her soon.
Betty sending prayers from Verona for Mike, Ann and you too for being such a good friend and support.
Dianne
Dianne, how wonderful of you to post and for sending prayers..truly this is a lovely couple, just retired and their entire world is falling apart..there are miracles, and we've certainly seen them happen on many threads...when we come together in prayer, Lord will hear our plea!!!
Will update as I hear from Ann or Melissa her daughter...
Are you getting this heat as well in Verona?? just closed all the doors and windows, put on a/c otherwise I'd never sleep tonight..
almost t.v. bingo, finished my Christmas quilt block so I can send the 3 tomorrow, didn't even take time to eat so off I go and get something before it starts...you'll hear me yell if I win the big one..lol
Hot, muggy and stinky here in Verona also. Sooo glad we have central ac. Even being right on the lake does not help cut us a break with the humidity.Even Stormy my white GS asked to come in from outside. A very rare occurence.
Mike's and Ann's predicament for lack of another word has hit so close to home for DH and I so we so know how and where they are shooting from.
Gotta tell you I lurk faithfully everynight and so enjoy all the chatter.Ya all sound like such sincere people trying to cope with life. Somedays we can all go Hurrah and others there are blue words.
Just a short intro, Debbie can tell you all my dirt .My DH and live on several acres with 1500 ft shoreline on a small lake. In over 1 mile from a main road on a private self contained road. The last 2 years have been not so great health wise but I feel like I am winning. May was the first month in 23 months I was not in the hospital , having surgeries, undergoing tratment both in Kingston and at PMH in Toronto. Just finished today having 7 stitches taken out of my mouth needed after the removal of 4 roots that were destroyed by radiation. My eye sight is also improving so hope to be back driving soon.
All of you people on here seem so genuine and real - go through alot without a lot of complainets. Occasionally I whine but just tell me to stuff it.
Anxious to hear about all the areas you love in the US and what you grow. Right off the bat I will tell you I have the worst mater crop in over 30 years.:p My sight has been effected by the tumour and the surgeries so please forgive any errors that I make.
How was Kempenfest Betty? Didn't particiapet this year. Not going to Meaford either. Actually have officially closed my SG business..... no more One of a Kind, Toronto City Hall Art Show for me.
Talked enough would love to hear more about you all.
Prayers continue, probably all night - I am not much of a sleeper for Mike and Anne.
Dianne
Stormy my white GS 'Stormy' and 'Quill' my Choco Lab and my 2 sweet white furry abanonded cats Streak and Sassy
Thank you Susan ! ♪♫♪♫ (((HUGS))) !
My prayers for Mike and Family.
My prayers for Lillie and Family.
Judy - Fried Green Tomatoes is also a book...by Fannie Flagg.... she was /is an actress as well... I remember her on Hollywood Squares. LOL! Anyway the book is centered in Birmingham, Alabama....which is about 2 hours from the site of my family reunion. Maybe a bit of nostalgia is why I wanted to read another of her books.
Tubby - Shadow is our Cat's name....LOL!
Judy - SO glad you could get the Health Insurance figured out. I remember all the Dr. forms we had to get for everything... Swim team, track, dance, etc. It always seemed that all needed the brand new form...couldn't share a copy.... Congrats on Jake with the Defensive Captain position. Is he a Sophomore or Junior this year?
Brock used to get impetigo when he was little. I'll never forget he had it on his nose one Christmas and could hardly breathe....and I thought it was just a bloody nose... SHAME on me! the guilt we feel as Moms......luckily I visited DMom and she had us to the ER...
I'll pop back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
Judy, the only thing saving us from another infection is Shane is on antibiotics full time for acne treatment...I am SURE if he wasn't he would have the staph or impetigo back. Doctor told us, keep their nails trimmed....make them wash under if there has been ANY signs of scratching....and the polysporin or neosporin topical ointment at first site of any redness.
Dianne...so glad you made it over here, this is a wonderful group of friends. Dianne is like a lost sister to me.
Betty, so glad to hear Mike is doing well after surgery, such an ordeal Now the treatment and healing begins....will continue prayers.
Paul set up my Moms old computer for me....slow as anything but at least I can see what I am doing! He said something "fried" in the hardware on mine....possibly lost all my pictures and programs. I am NOT happy!
Turning in, need my energy back and am just not feeling great.
Debbie
Thanks for the update Betty, we will continue prayers for a speedy recovery!
Dianne, goodness, sounds like your fighting a battle also, Sending healing prayers for you as well!
I live in Texas, and it has been hot and humid here. I only grow flowers, as our soil is so bad, so everyhting is in pots or raised beds! My favorite flower is the angel trumpets. This is one that bloomed last week, Monster white!
Hello Dianne and Welcome !
I don't feel quite qualified to be part of the welcoming committee...as I am a relative "newbie" having been on here for I suppose...only about 2 years...
These ladies ("Folks"....sorry Tubby!) know each other over many many years and have been together a LONG time... I appreciate their acceptance of me and feel very much at home on here...
I am part of the "Night Shift"... I am not a morning person and have a pretty demanding job 8a to 6p...so my idea of "relaxing" is to hop on the computer from about 9p till bedtime.
You write like a writer... so I am curious as to your profession... Also not sure on "GS"....
I am a beginning gardener, DH is the pro in our family. We built a pool in '06 for the kids and that was my "blank slate" that started my interest in growing things. We have an herb garden, a veggie garden (tomatoes VERY disappointing this year as well) and try to grow a lot of tropicals around the pool. I have learned that I LOVE HIbiscus.
I have learned a lot from gardening as reflected in life...
Welcome to Betty's Blog... These ladies (and gents...sorry Tubby) have helped me and supported me through so much and I am So grateful to have them in my life...
Prayers for your recovery and (((HUGS))) to you !
Mary
I had to think about that GS for a minute too...couldn't imagine why her grandson didn't usually want to come inside...then figured it must be German Shepherd!!! ^_^
Oooh running late this morning, cup of coffee in hand, need to do something with this mop..waving to all will be back when I get to work...so very glad to meet you Dianne....
Part of my being late is having Ned this week, it's like having a SHADOW, everywhere I go, Ned goes..even to bed..yikes..he's a big dog... (sorry Tubby, fell asleep last night and didn't do my SHADOW word-did it this morning though)
Talk in a bit..
LOL! Slid that one right in there, Betty! When we kept our sons Giant Alaskan Malamute, it was interesting. She thought she should get all our attention, and never mind our own dog and 3 cats!!!
Hello Diane, I'm Barb and this is the most wonderful place to be.. I've only been here for 1 1/2 yrs but everyone here is like family to me. We Do love and care about each other. I'm not a gardener but am helping my grandson to learn. We have fun trying... I'm the quilter in the bunch and it is my passion. I'm retired so my time is mostly my own to play with fabrics...
Sending grateful prayers this morning for Mike. And thanks for all who have prayed for his well being. Now Ann you need to get a bit of rest while you can if possible.
Grandson just arrived - he's mine for the morning....check in later
Hi everyone!! Nice to see you Dianne!
I'm here, moving into my new private office, cleaning it took all day Monday, then I had to actually move my stuff from my old desk to in here yesterday, now I'm ready to work and I'm loving this, this is way way cool, but I'm used to mental labor, not physical labor, so today I am absolutely worn out. I didn't come on last weekend cause Dave was excessively cranky so I decided to spend time with him instead of with the computer.
So let's see, who wants to talk heat? Last Sunday North Little Rock had a heat index of 121, I forgot what it was Monday, something like 116, yesterday was 118, today's supposed to be 113 I think.
Here's a short article on how hot it's been.

Good Morning!
Welcome Diane! So very glad you stopped lurking and jump on into Betty's Garden!! Nice to meet you.
...Betty, is our beloved energizer bunny! We love all that she does and gets all involved in some project.
You will love chatting with Everyone who comes in this garden room, they are all special people, don't know what I'd do without them.
Yikes, so sorry to hear about your health issues, will keep add you to my DG list of special prayers.
Which reminds me, I haven' told you all how much I love you!!
I'm Judy, LOL, a gardener wannabe...Well, truely Love to garden, Have a couple. Mine tho are very big and sometimes overwhelming.
I have 3 children + 3(friends, who live with us) and of course My DH. He keeps me quite busy with all the stuff HE is going to do! lolol...I get tired of waiting so to keep myself busy take on his projects well as long as they don't involve his "manly" tools!! He is a contractor in rehab business and i also help him out with the paper work...Sometimes I work for him for a day and sometimes as few as minutes. ..Currently searching for a job, but not in any huge rush, the right one will find me when its time, Until then I am totally enjoying life in the slower motion...
OMG, Mary and Debbie, you are scaring me! These kids will go insane, now that I know this can come back. LOL, not to mention, I keep myself in severe check, yikes don't want this anywhere on myself... K well, Julia has been to docs. her new Doc, sending her to a specialist for her exzima as well.
Today is Jacob's birthday!! He is 15, man who said my youngest could get older? yesterday he and his Grandma went to see a movie and lunch at the mall...OMG I so wish i had taken my camera. MIL, is still limping around, she scares me to death. Anyway, Jacob jumped out of the van to help her and the look on her face was absolutely priceless. Aw, such love, it was as if i were watching a movie, brought tears to my eyes! Jacob got her a wheelchair, and they enjoyed the day together.
Got to tell you, I BBQd chicken legs yesterday, oh my they were so delicious, Even Sabrina was highly impressed!
OMG...times whizzing, got to get to Doc appt..
See you all in a little while...

Sorry I missed your call, Lil injun....call me when you get back from the Docs.
Well, obviously I didn't go to the interview at the temp agcy. While running errands last night the car decided to slip out of gear and not go back in until I sat on the side of the road for a bit. Guess I'll not be heading to "downtown" until I have that fixed or something else to drive!
Sold 5 more bags of caramels...thank you lord!! ^_^
Finally, Paul was in the office since 8am this morning rushing around so had lots to do, now I've time to play...
He did however explain that seeing most would be in offices of their own that the paper trail had to be kept by each individual and data put on system..so sounds as though he's still trying to put the system in my house for me...too busy for me to ask questions..will just play the 'wait and see' game????
Dianne, so glad you've joined us, you'll not find a better group of friends anywhere then these who frequent our threads..you are about 5 hours from me, we'll have to get Debbie to cross the border one weekend and we'll put a visit to you on our 'to do' list...hear that Debbie?
You've certainly had a hard time of it Dianne, often wonder how individuals such as yourself keep such an upbeat..God Bless...will add you to my prayers...and yes, you certainly know what Ann/Mike are going through..
Wow, we have many of the same interests..just yesterday I marked the shows I most like on my calendar...October 2nd. Meaford/November 6th in Hamburg N.Y. (usually see my Debbie then- she has me hooked)/Markham Craft Show on November 20th. and the One of a Kind which is Nov. 25th thru to Dec.5th...these are the cream of the cream..
Did I misunderstand or did you have a vendors booth at some of them..I saw SG, is that stained glass??? if so, omg, at kempenfelt they had window panels done, they had taken the more pricey pink/green/blue/clear tones of china plates, more with diamond cut designs and worked them into a hanging with bevel in colors to match..actually looked quite simple...want to try a few for Christmas gifts, BUT, isn't there always a but, I've been working on a hanging and bet there isn't any more than a morning to finish it and I just can't seem to get back to it...not sure why..beautiful design, looks as though you are looking outside at a lake, the window ledge had a glass container with daffodiles and a bible on it...told myself I'll not start one more thing until it's done...so I'd better get a move on right? Maybe with your eyesight you'll be able to get back to some of the things you enjoy...I lived on Little Lake - 1st or last lock whichever way you look at it on the Trent Waterway system for about 28 years...sure do miss it..how wonderful for you to look out and see water..I've compensated by either boating and/or water feature in my pond...I've been blessed to have raised my children on lakefront...
one sec...
I'm here to gab Crissy and all...yikes that's hotter than hot..how do the elderly survive without air in this heat? Do your municipal offices, libraries and such open their doors such as we do to accommodate those without a/c Oooh you lucky soul, your own office, now will Miss you know who still be near you and working with you? Now why was Dave cranky?? what did you do??? lol
Joyce, just what you needed, vehicle repairs..not good..Lord's got a plan for you, have patience, maybe he doesn't want you to start at a temp. job because he has a specialty one just waiting for you shortly...yummy on the candies..I'd order some but wonder if you could ship across the border???
Judy, you are such a sweetie..you always make me smile...was laughing at your saying you are NOT rushing to find a job..you keep that up girl, you barely have time to accomplish what you undertake now how on earth would you manage to add a full time job..
Tell Jacob I'm sinsing Happy birthday to him..he and Kyle are almost same age..Kyle will be 15 in December..almost men..at least they'd like to think so...
Kyle kept texting me last night to check on Ned, they went scuba diving all day..saw the Bonnie "B" said the lake was crystal clear
Nope, she's up there and I'm back here, she hasn't said two words to me since I moved desks either, which could mean absolutely nothing, or it could mean a whole lot, who knows. LOL I have no idea why Dave's been so upset, if he's mad about the heat I think he's mad at the wrong person because I can't do anything about it. Oh yea, everything's open, the malls usually pack out in hot weather like this. Thankfully it gets hot here every summer, not this hot but it does get hot, so almost everyone has some sort of AC via it be water cooler or whatever.
Yes Betty I was a professional Stained Glass artisan for several years. Always used to exhibit at One of a Kind, Kempenfest (even went back after I was floating over the bay frantically hanging onto 1 of my my EZup tent poles),.Nottawasa Inn, Ottawa Christmas Craft Show and even used to travel to Winnipeg to do a Christmas show there. Shipped the whole booth out and flew in.While the shows were my mainstay for $$$s my love was custom work a nd have done several church windows , side lights and palladium windows - all of my own design. We have SG all over the world, which makes my heart smile that I know it gives people happiness.
I'll be back later to learn more about you all but right now Sassy my pretty, purfect kitty as my DH refers to her is trying to open a screen door. Not a good idea!!
So enjoyed all I have read about you so far ......```````` at ya all. Hugs to my sis Debbie.
Dianne

lurking, and no time to chat (it's been 2 hours since I typed this - very busy today lol)
Wanted to say Hi to everyone!
Have a terrific day!!!!
That's really cool about your SG, Dianne. I'm impressed!
So tell us...where did your DG name come from????
Bet Dianne we've come across each other at some point..I'm always looking at the stained glass works and usually attend Nottawasaga Inn as well, although over the past several years it's really downsized..how wonderful for you to be so creative...
You must tell me, what's with the piece that I can't seem to get to, is it a phobia lol...did you ever come across any that you wanted to do but changed your mind 1/2 way through....
I've done quite a few Georgian Bay scened with raised rock/pine trees that we are know for, will have to go in search of photo's for you..
Nope, you best not let kitty at the screen..when I did back deck 1st thing the window vendor asked, 'do you have animals' when I said yes, he led me to the screen doors than have screens in the upper section..terrific idea..
Susan, don't you run yourself ragged again .. you know how ill you get..you just have to tell us more about your holiday weekend...
Hmmm Joyce, we'll make a game of it, kidneyguy..I'd say that Dianne's hubby is the first to have enrolled and with all the land they had grew kidney's and thus was know as kidneyguy??? how close did I get Diane..
Nooooooo where near close Betty. My DG name does revolve around my DH though. I joined DG when my husband was in kidney failure and it did not look good. His creatine count was 997 and at 1000 you are either in a coma or die. I was buffaloed when asked for a username and up popped in my mind Kidneyguy. Confuses alot of people but I have just stuck with it. So Debbie now you know although you propably already did why I am sooo worried about your kidneys.
Have reinvented myself several times over the years. Grew up in the Dairy Capital of Canada - Woodstock, Ontario or Woodstick as I refer to it. Started uinversity (Guelph) waaay too young, only 16 and majored in the Party Plan. Managed to become a teacher, taught Phys Ed initially, then Behavioural and became a Behavioural Consultant for the Toronto Board of Education and serviced over 20 schools. Was hired to design and setup the first Inhouse Educational progrmme for Young Offenders but we bought a farm so we moved from Toronto to eastern Ontario and my life took off in another direction.
It is so wonderful to see how much you care about each other - not enough of that going on in life nowadays much to my chagrin.
Tubby did I miss the word for today?
BBL, remember to do something nice for yourselves today!
Dianne
Kidneyguy
I must have...(DARN)
The word is
...........................Shadow....................
Tubby
Dianne, would love to see photo's of some of your work! I bet you have seen Betty at the shows too! Small world huh? Sorry to hear about yout hubby having kidney problems. Is he doing OK now?
My sister was just diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure, and they have her on all kinds of meds. So far she is doing OK!
Judy, Happy Birthday to your not so young baby!
Joyce, hope you get your car fixed soon.
Susan, hope your not working too hard!
LK, my DH's kidney problems were caused by him taking Lipitor Supra. Once he was taken off of that and given allsorts of IVs and of course a major change in his dieet he is doing well. Sure hope I am as active as he is at 69 and darn young looking too!
Sure hope your sis can get things under control. Is she on any BP meds? If so that needs to be checked.... lots of docs even nephrologists are unaware of the effects. I Googled it and took the article into DH's Neph. Dr Morton whom we love and trust was astounded. Now when he sees me and unfortunately these last few months he has seen me alot at the hospital always tells whomever he is with "This is the lady who taught me something Med school didn't"Glad to know I was good for something.lol
Ok off to do something even if it wrong to quote a good friend.
Dianne
Tubby, did Shadow earlier...this is what I posted..
Part of my being late is having Ned this week, it's like having a SHADOW, everywhere I go, Ned goes..even to bed..yikes..he's a big dog... (sorry Tubby, fell asleep last night and didn't do my SHADOW word-did it this morning though)
So now I'm giving you heads up, having withdrawal for today's word...
Thought I'd move us over...getting hard for some to download with no 'high' speed!
Here we are...
