Sounds like a wonderful evening Betty. I'm so glad you got to enjoy yourself.... Card for Ann and Mike going out today.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Barb...not sure anyone in my family could say I don't go out...more likely to say I never stay home...lol

Drats, forgot my glasses, blind as a bat..long morning not being able to read my book or play...

Betty - looked at the pic of the island...... is it on it's side, or a I not looking at it correctly?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, puzzle of the day, yikes, didn't rotate photo..lol

Suzanne the cutting through rock to do Hwy. 400 up to Sudbury is my neck of the woods...got to tell you, no easy going there...highways have so improved...they did have difficulties continuing the 400 series near Bala (about 45 minutes from me) because of the Indian Reserve..the band wouldn't approve passing on their land...finally resolved after about 8 years..

Our land here is so varied, from farmers fields, to sky hills, to mountains, lakes, rock..always say I live in God's country..am sure you all feel the same..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

What a great time!!! AND you didn't have to clean the kitchen! Can't beat that!

Victoria Harbour, ON

lol...not a fan of dishes..even seen myself wrap my plate with tinfoil, eat, take it off and voila dishes done! I even have a dishwasher, isn't that sad...

Where is everyone today???

LindaKay you alright, Debbie, what's happening in your world, Gillian, am sure she's somewhere in my neck of the woods, keep hoping a van will drive in the driveway and there she and her lovely family will be here..

Tubby, missed my word of the day!

Bev, waving to you and Scotty..

Judy, am sure you are still making quilt blocks...

Crissy you've been quiet, what's happening in your world..

Mary, been missing my morning posts...with the hour difference I'm in bed when you post, and you are sleeping when I'm up and at it chomping at the bit to hear about your day!

All of you, you just make my day (as Clint Eastwood used to say)??

Well, got off at one, was on my way to the garden gallery for a few more shrubs..oh/oh highway was bumper to bumper not moving, turned around, not worth taking 4 hrs. to get home so back road trecking I went..

Got home and Cathy had dropped in, was letter Sailor out, we chatted and I said off we go to town..bought 2 wreigelia's for $5.00 each...then I took the old metal corner units of a gazebo that Bernie welded together for me, put it in a corner next to back bedroom, placed the glass birdbath in front of it, think once vines/shrubs/flowers take over that corner pretty it will be...

Managed to convince myself that I should have an ice cream cone..lordy it was yummy!

With next to no rain I just spent 1 hr. watering everything..before heading out to the Kempenfest on the Bay tomorrow am going to water again..washed the 3 decks and guess what, I'm ready for bed..well almost, did get enough energy to put the spare bedroom bedding in the wash so can't fall asleep until it's dry and bed made..if I wake up, I'll do my bedroom as well, you never know, it's always this weekend that they have shortage of hotels/inns and I get calls for rooms...so before I go out tomorrow house needs to be spotless!

Sailor pee'd on the living room rug, not good..maybe I'll find time tomorrow to go in search of a new rug, washed it immediately but .....well you know.. keep purchasing cheap ones, can't put down good quality until Sailor is gone...probably buy about 5 rugs per year..too costly for them to be expensive...

Off for bath and jammies, finish my book and am looking forward to finding treasures tomorrow and also enjoying Sunday/Monday playing in my gardens...

Hope you've done something exciting today..

Good Evening Betty and Everyone!

OH MY GOSH, you know the weather has been spectacular the last few days! I have been outside, yup working on deck one more time.
Geesh, I am not exactly thrilled, but one more wave did much better, so I guess I'll now stain it. Hahaha, guess what? I even started the power machine, whoopie only took 2 pulls!! LOLOL, guess I am right up there with being the "big Guy" snicker, snicker...Originally, was having Jake run home to start the machine up...
Well I think I told you about lawn mower on kaputs, ...it went to lawn mower heaven, so to my very luck, the neighborhood landscapers came today. Asked Julia to talk to the guy to find out cost...Yikes 20 bucks of my allowance to have lawn mowed, weed wacked and blown.
I guess this isn't to terrific, gave me 10 off, since he 1., like Julia and 2 I didn't have 30, lol...But i was starting to grow a small forest, not cool. don't want the weed patrol to be over again, ROFLOL...
This afternoon went running Errands, which one of was mailing my blocks! Yippee, and yahoohee, they are done. Well, I did post of my quilting whoahs...Marion commented, oh well I'll keep playing cuz, Imma, having fun....LOL, but I am sure glad they are on the way! OH, how exciting Betty, your next up/!! Hope you'll like what I am doing for that one, hehehe, you'll just have to wait, All mine are different, I am liking the practice, and all the that I can get is way cool..

I sure enjoyed seeing your dinner photos, looks like you all had a great time!

Heard from my sister Gin Pin! How cool was that. LOL she wanted to let us know She couldn't come to anniversary party..she is just too cute...I just love when she feels blabby, tonight I even got a second call, might be one more too.

OMG...BEV, BEV, Well, you know I love all your photos! How exciting that you submitted them in fair and took Ribbons!! I am so very happy for you! You go Girl, I knew I was missing something on my last post, how it was your ribbons...yuk, I got CRS, lol just learned what that meant. Anyway, yeah for you!! Oh my how neat that Betty will paint the Lilly's? It sure is beautiful., didn't know you paint too, would love to see your work.

Crissy, you survive the week? know you were loaded with it, (LOL, work I mean)

Waiving Hiya Joyce-mos -my only sunshine, glad you kept our Betty company and visit a bit! OMG, what can I say, Give your Honey a RC Cola for me, plus a great big Kiss smack on the jibs (that'd be lips) for finding my sistah ring!!! Whew. And great big armwraps to you for searching so diligently for it, seee, only one reason why I love ya.

Well, I got to run See you later,
Waiving Hi to everyone, this very nice Fri9day night!

Beautiful work!

If you check in before your big weekend, Betty, have a wonderful, wonderful time!

I'll be celebrating to day with my Mother for her 90th birthday. She's so cute....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning...brrrr could almost wear a snowsuit this morning, yikes how could it get so cold in one evening..after getting my hydro bill with a letter included saying our hydro would go up 8% and an additonal 8% for the new tax HST, wow total of 16% I thought I should turn of the a/c as it wasn't that warm out..well, maybe I shouldn't have opened so many windows, froze half the night..so this morning I'm trying to decide what to wear, most likely by 10 it will be a hot one, some breeze from the lake..hmmmm..will pick up the girls by 8:30..want to be home by early afternoon although one could spend days at the festival but they are calling for over 100,000 visitors throughout the day, I want to be one who is home by the time they arrive...bringing my camera, can't take a lot of photo's re vendors not liking it but always something to see along the shoreline... then, it will be back home to work on the new garden..

Judy, $20.00 now isn't that a steal for a garden maintenance company to share..am sure maybe they needed beer money and like Julia big time to give you such a discount..your yard is quite large...you did good girl negotitating..

Yes, my month is this month for the Christmas quilt blocks and am looking forward to receiving them..fall is just around the corner and I've blocks galore waiting to become treasures .. if I don't find a zillion things I want this morning I think I'll head in to Fabricland and see what colors they might have for backings and the warm and soft batting..

LOL at your getting your 'big girl' tools working without help..last night I was thinking of getting the power washer that I just had to have about 3 years ago and never used out to give the house a good wash..need to do my windows as well..not sure I have anything planned for next weekend so that might be on my 'to do' list...does a great job with decks doesn't it? Did you pre-soak with a solution first?

Bev, love the Bluebird..painting is something you should never have given up..do you still have your paints/brushes? I have a box full of brushes if you don't that I'd be happy to share! No wonder you were tired Bev, trimming trees ??? hopefully not with electrical equipment?? yikes, hope you had a good nights' rest..now off you go looking for your art supplies, maybe give Scotty a canvas so he can paint 'you' while you paint your pretty flowers...tell him Betty said give it a try! I'll send him an envelope full of kisses if he does..lol

Joyce, I'm only gone for the morning so will be back with photo's mid afternoon...every year I come home with some metal art ..usually a birdhouse but think I'm birdhoused out..still home that big array of birdhouses I made a few weekends ago that need painting..maybe I'll focus on that this weekend..I'm getting several projects behind, some almost done just sitting there...like the flower shed..just need those boys of mine, hoping tonight, to come and move it to it's location then I can complete it and it's ready for spring..

Tubby, mid point down the thread I think I used antihistamines
when referring to Sailor and her itch? Now how many times did you re-cut your lawns with that new riding lawnmower..bet you don't even give the grass a chance to grow..now if you lived closer Judy and I would have you doing ours...

Well, I seem to have taken the chill off my bones with the coffee so off to do another and get ready for my adventures..

Hope you've something special planned for the day...look forward to hearing about it..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Wish I was going with you, Betty....I just know that you have a BLAST wherever you are! We had a cool morning like yours yesterday. Almost felt like Fall for about 2 hours. Ha...knew that wouldn't last!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-have fin and think of us while having fun!!

Judy-keep your eyes peeled-pretty soon-and I mean in the next couple weeks, places will be clearancing out all their summer stuff like lawn mowers. You might be able to get a new one for around $100 which is a really good deal!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. We had to go to San Angelo for my back Dr, and got back yesterday, but was tired, and slep most of the day. I did not sleep well in the motel. Then this morning we bot woke up, not feeling well. Guess we at something not agreeing with out tummies.
Bev those painting are beautiful! Waiting to see what you paint next.
Betty, do you ever slow down? Your so busy! But in a good way!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hi there,

Yikes, heard vendors say they were expecting up to 250,000 at this event, know what, think they all got there at 9:30.. just walked in, wind came up, started to rain so I'm chilled, imagine, I'm going upstairs and turning the fireplace on to take the dampness out and this is before I even take my goodies out of the vehicle...

You'd be proud of me, set a budget and came home with $92.00 left of it..yippee, that's unusual but I did purchase 2 beautiful garden items..one is an extra large metal butterfly to go on that metal piece that I put in the ground yesterday, perfect for it, just have to drill 2 holes in it to hang the butterfly and then a metal works artist was there, we were at his location 5 minutes after arriving and the 3 of us bought a piece, mad at myself now for not splurging and spending the $92.00 but, always tomorrow right? lol

The metal piece I bought from him is gorgeous, about 7' tall, beautiful metal coneflower with and I forget what the bug is, but it sits ontop of the coneflower and lovely metal leaves..right now its clean metal but once it rains and is in the elements it will match all the other pieces, rust metal art..

LindaKay, what did the doctor say about your back? Was it for tests? How long of a drive would it be? I'm sure at home you have great aids to help you with your back non of which you can take with you when you travel! Did you eat something which is causing you both not to be feeling well?? Sure hope they come up with something to help you re pain control..bet it was an enjoyable ride thought in your new vehicle...who got to drive?

Stacey, remember when I took your picture when we went to the waterfront in Barrie when you visited??? well Kempenfest is from where that metal art indian design is right around the bay...with off shoots here and there...

Joyce, life's too short to stay in the house, no sooner does Monday come that I'm looking for what is going on within 100 mile radius so I can participate...

Did take some photo's of the event, will put the fireplace on, change the color of thread on the embroiderer and then download the photo's..rain has almost stopped sooo might get to take my 'treasures' out of the car now and take photo's for you...

See Greg's vehicle here and Jeff's gone, so he must be on his way to pick Jeff up..probably won't get here till late evening..it's about 250 miles away, so might just go to the grocery store and pick up some steak, am sure he'll be starving when he gets home..

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes Betty I still have all my painting supplies. Maybe this winter can start again. Thanks Linda here is a couple more. BEV

Beautiful Bev, knack in painting scenes..I especially love the camping painting, mountains are great as well..can't you just picture yourself there...glad you still have your supplies..yep, fall is around the corner, can tell by my gardens, you'll be able to set up shop with Scotty sitting next to you, he can give you pointers...lol talk about vendors with their paintings, all mediums, great work, don't think I saw one that I wouldn't have wanted to bring home...

Also got a great idea for stained glass..they had an antique plate or bowl or treasure and it was worked into the hanging..sure would love to do one but the piece sitting in my laundry room for one of the windows is saying 'finish me first'..

Here we go, come join me on my trip today..

Started off with a bee wanting breakfast..sat and had my coffee watching..

Not more than 5 minutes into the walk did we have to go find my car...too heavy and awkward to be carrying around..

Couldn't resist taking a photo, of course a lady behind me went on and on because I stopped to take a photo, said I was holding up the line up, I simply turned around and said 'some come for the vendors and some come to see the beauty'..guess you want the vendors...yikes..

Edited to read: I'm getting a little to brazen in my old age!

Checking out metal art..ohhhh $2,000 for heron, $15,000 for the deer, and $650. for the pond fish that spits water...ok, love metal art but not that much..you can see the shocked looked on my face from reading the price tag!

Last photo of the metal art promise...

Did meet my girlfriend Carol who had a vendors location for oils/watercolors, she and Paul were gabbing away to everyone so only stayed a few minutes...

Then Leo Mallet, Darlene's FIL who sells most of his art in Fort Myers every winter had a spot, lordy his oils are spectacular, have a bit of 'Florida Keys' look..gabbed with him a bit...

AND, the metal artist gave me his card..he lives in London Ontario, 3 hrs. away..one never knows, might just be hankering to go for a ride one day.. just got to find me a truck..

So far, that has been my day...think before I get too comfortable I'll head down to the grocery store..would be nice if I cooked the boys a home cooked meal tonight seeing as Jeff hasn't had one in 3 weeks while doing his Kayak run...he's had a ball and believe that Julie enjoyed it equally..

Gab later

Oh I hope that's where it will stay! It looks wonderful there! So glad you had a good time.

We have a Starving Artist show in a small town near here every September. When I started going there was a maximum price of $10. Then it went to $15, then $20, then $25. Now there's no limit. They still have decent prices, but not like it used to be. The thing I wanted to tell you about that show was that they abide strictly by the starting time. There used to be a few who would sell early, and then everyone else was mad when they saw what they came for gone, and the vendor sold out before starting time! So the powers that be made the decision....no early sales to be fair to everyone!

I always try to go early to the Sauerkraut Festival. The reason being that I can't get through it all if I wait until starting time. It's the second weekend in October, in the Antique capital of the midwest (Waynesville) and it's always so pretty, and they have great food and crafts. I don't see a lot of metal art around here...I absolutely love that coneflower and bee (or whatever it is!)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

The cone and dragonfly is cute, but that butterfly is SPECTACULAR!!! OMG Betty I am soooo jealous!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, yes! I meant to say that, too! It's my favorite also!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well thank you..been quite a day, last post I said I'd run into town for groceries, thought why not do a roast, had fresh corn, put the bread machine on, no sooner came home that the telephone rang, old/old friends (owned a Motel and Roger when travelling would stay there and they treated him like family) always kept in touch..they were at a 60th anniversary party, same one I dropped Cathy off today before coming home and so they wanted to know if they could come for a short visit..well goodness, with all that I had cooking, had to have they stay for din/din...

Bob is a thinker and is interested in the workings of people, think after answering 500 questions it finally was time to eat..lol
Barb is a doll..they are so much fun to be with...
