Betty, those are beautiful, and the red color of the chair behind it really looks nice.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I really wasn't ill when we went this time - it was the week previous when I sat at home on my duff that I wasn't well.

Has anyone here been to Crowsnest Pass?

Oh lovely, lovely, Betty...wish I were there to see it and smell it in person! I had every intention of working in the garden today, but it was so hot and humid, I didn't!

Wonder if I can pick and choose the jobs they offer me at the temp agency? I wouldn't want a job that was only to last a week or a few days, cause it is such a pain to stop and restart unemployment. If it was something for a few months with a prospect of turning in to full time, that I would be interested in...guess I'll just have to go to the interview and find out!

Bertie and I went to the Water Garden Society meeting tonight. It was pretty interesting. There were a lot of people there. Bertie and I and two others (a couple) were new. They made us feel very welcome. They had barley straw in garbage bags for $3.00. Geesh to buy that in the store would be $20 or so. We couldn't resist. They said it came from a farmer in Michigan. The August meeting will be at the arboretum, and I haven't been there in years, I'm sorry to say. I worked within 3 miles of it, and lived within 10 miles of it, and it's a really good one, too. No excuses...just didn't do it! They told us that they have a plant swap in either August or September. Water plants and regular plants. You take how ever many plants you want to, and get a ticket for each plant. Then you get to take turns choosing plants to take home depending on the amount of tickets you have. So now I can get rid of that white water lily!!!! Wonder if I can slip some baby koi in there and get away with it? They are getting really big. Probably 4 inches long now and their colors are starting to show up really good, too. I even have some butterfly koi babies...I may keep them, cause I love the fancy butterflies! They will give BlueJaye some company!

Crissy, did you get all your work caught up?

Jaye, sorry Kel is stalling on the water feature. I know once he has one, he'll love it and wonder why he put it off for so long!

Susan, I really enjoyed your pictures from you other vacation. It looked like you had a really good time and made me want to go horseback riding. Bill's uncle and aunt that were here for the reunion asked us to come to Southern Ohio where they live and ride. So once it cools down, I think I'll take them up on it. I probably can't get Bill to go, but I think I can talk Bertie in to it. He promised to take me where there are a lot of hemlocks growing, and I just love them, so it's a plan as far as I'm concerned!

LK...you having a lot of heat down there? I think my brugs are starting to Y. The yellow has a whole bunch of buds on it....getting excited now!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sue, did you guys do any work on the greenhouse?

Bertie and I are going to come up to Enon to go to Green Vista. We thought if you're up for it, we'd come to your house since we'll be pretty close. Not sure when it will be. Green Vista is having Monet by Moonlight on the weekend of Aug. 19th, so it will be before that. They put their lilies on sale for 50% off right before that, and we want to get another tropical one. We talked about it tonight, and even if it doesn't make it over the winter inside, for the 3 months that are left in the season and the show they put on, it is worth it. I got 60 fertilizer tabs for the lilies today. That will do them all one time. I'm really late for this. They should be fertilized every month. I can tell they need it, too, cause the leaves are smaller and the blooms are less and smaller. I just hope 60 will do them all. I have 3 that haven't bloomed at all this year. I'll fertilize them this one last time and if they don't bloom....then they're outta heah! There's not enough room in the pond for non-productive ones!

So anyway, Sue....you up for a visit and maybe we could do lunch?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Well we made it home from Sue's and actually hit some rain near here on the way back.
How near? it stopped up the street from us.... LOL!

Saw Joyce's pond over the weekend and it's even better than the pictures!

Got a lot done at Sue's today.
Storage locker is history.... Basement is about 90% clear of Yard Sale items.
She took us to a great Hot Dog Stand for Lunch.... KILLER Fries!
(BTW Sue WOT a Dog was open when we went by.... so I guess just dinner during the week.)
As we left at 6PM they were loading into the Kubota for the 100 yard trip to Soccer practice.

She took us to Meadowview Nursery..... AMAZING!
I am known for picking up the rare, unusual and cheap bargains at any nursery I hit.

Alocasia plumbea 'Metalica' and the biggest I've ever seen......20 Bucks
I told Sue she would hear Joyce screaming from her house.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

LOL!
Patience Grasshopper.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Joyce - take pics when you go horseback riding, too, k?

I don't know if we'll do that this weekend - not sure what we'll do once we get to www.Sleepyhollowcampground.ca
We've never been west of Pincher Creek, but the campground is east of it, and there's a lot of mining history in the area (Frank Slide Interpretive center where Turtle Mountain had a Major rock slide and covered some of the town of Frank)
We'll just have to take a lookie and see what the area is like.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cookie, it gets to about 98 or so, but our humidity is about 85%! Too humid to be outside!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Ugh...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, not sure if you know of Tobermory..Greg and family are off to do snorkeling, sunken boats, so much to do in that area..should be packing a suitcase if I wasn't already fully booked and go join them...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Why, I even know about Tobermory and I am in the south. LOL

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((LINDA KAY))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful place, scenic, lots of history..read about the sunken boats..yikes, must not be the place to boat, all sunk..lol

On a clear day, the water is so crystal clear you can see some of them below..

They all went last year and liked it enough to go back...

Marion, keep forgetting that you are from my neck of the woods..you best come home for a visit..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That looks nice Susan! I'll take my non vacation days and come camp with you too! I think I want to invest in a tent trailer someday soon, sounds much better than sleeping on the ground, especially here in the South where snakes are abound!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL, Betty I am from the south, not Canadian. Just happen to spend a lot of time there when my brother and SIL were living. Yes, I do need to come back for a visit--I am missing my niece and her family so much these days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, when I travelled with our RV I was always amazed at the little t-pee type travel trailers that opened up into a larger unit...something I'd like to go looking for as well, as long as my little bug could tow it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Knew that Marion, but like me, with so many visits to USA over the years, I feel I'm 1/2 and 1/2..you adopt me and I'll adopt you, that way we'll both have dual citizenship...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I like that idea. You are hereby adopted!!!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Well after 13 months of unemployment I was recalled.
Start back to work Monday!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ric that IS VERY good news!!!!! Bet your SO is happy too!!
Yes to a pup for me too if you could next fall?? I'll pay postage gladly!!

Soon it will be Cookie's turn to announce she got a job!

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG went to the nursery today at lunch, what sales, got 2 rose of sharon's about 3 to 4' high for $12.50 each..bargain prices..been buying and setting aside, think tonight I'd better continue digging up the garden near back deck and start planting...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Rose of Sharon is beautiful.
I'm waiting for my Jacob's Ladder to bloom - it's certainly tall enough and has buds ^_^

Take it easy with the planting, Jaye, please.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Set the pots beside the back bedroom deck last night when I got home and realized I should have bought 1 more so off to the nursery after work today, if I'm going to plant that garden I just have to have more shrubs....

Was out to dine with friends last night, wow, after midnight when I came home..

YEAH RIC!!!

Cookie-look into your unemployment. You usually don't have to stop and restart unemployment if you have temp work, they just take away part of what you would have received w/o any work. Last time I knew (about a year and a half ago) they took away 50cents for every dollar you made at the temp job over a certain amount.

LK-I am with you-I HATE ironing!!! It is the bain of my existance and my stuff that needs to be ironed usually hangs in the laundry room for several mos B4 I get the iron and board out:(

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Congrats Ric!!!!! I'm hoping that Dave gets this job with the plastics company!!!! It is perfect for him and he is perfect for it, I just hope they know that.

Joyce Stacey is right, you shouldn't have to stop and restart, they just deduct what you earned away from your check.

LOL "Bain of my existance" Love it!!!!! I never iron, I have a dryer that has a 'wrinkle guard' setting and it'll tumble the clothes for about 10 seconds, every 30 seconds for up to 2 hours, so when the dryer goes off of the dry setting and onto that wrinkle guard setting I start pulling my clothes out, about 5 pieces at a time, hang those up, then 5 pieces more, hang those up, and I never iron. If I forget and they do get wrinkled, a damp washcloth in the dryer for 15 minutes on low heat usually takes care of the problem.
