Jaye posted before the move:

Not fair... Ric get to taste some!!
Learnt something new.. a jam hotline!!! Better be someone helping out our Sue here.
Sue you won't be in a jam with all those peaches. My addy is listed ;)

Betty, was there a whole lot of shaking going on?? Live it up, sistah!!

Cookie, is bald cypress the same as Louisiana cypress? I have 3 of them, and they love water.
I bet Bertie and you got lots of oohs and ahhs over your ponds from the excercise class. The food served sounds delicious. By the way, I can't find the chicken cranberry salad here :(

Happy to hear from Judy, she's all excited about having us next year.

Yep..I'm still alive. This heat is just wearing us down. Thank God, the rains hit at night and I didn't have to water the plants.
Slept the rest of yesterday off after spending some interesting time at the Drivers' License Bureau.

Cookie, new room please :-)

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Jaye, glad to see you seem to be feeling better. Hope that's true!

Yes, the oohs and ahhs were plentiful! Always feels good to have your hard work appreciated!

Jaye, Sam's stopped carrying the cranberry chicken salad here, too. I'm so bummed. I may ask next time I'm there if they're planning on having it again.

Had that interview scheduled at the temp agency this morning, but a headache has forced me to cancel. Still not sure how I feel about going with a temp agency...well, time will tell.

I still have 3 areas that need manure. Wonder if I'll EVER get that finished!? I'm moving so slow today. I thought the coffee would help the headache, but no luck yet. Maybe I'm hungry as I didn't really eat right last night. My body is probably craving some food protein. Looks like some eggs in my future!

Sue, hope you all have a productive day. I'm sure you will. Ric and Robyn are surely go-getters!

Judy posted????? Must be on the SI thread...going there next!

Joyce-Temp agencies can be a good thing as a lot of companies go through them for temp to perm help. They can try you through the agency and if they don't like you, they have no obligation towards you, so for them it is a good deal. They don't have to go through all the preliminaries and if they don't like you they don't even have to fire you. It may be a good thing. Plus you get to try out the businesses as well. The same goes, if you don't like it, you just tell them temp agency and they take care of it:)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cookie, apply some ice to your head, it helps the headaches sometimes.

for headaces i use a warm washcloth. Dh told me about it ( go figure ) sure does help. I rewarm them in the micro for around 12 secs. let cool a tad then put on yer noggin.
Yes there is a jam hotline from Pomonas Universal Pectin . she is a great lady !!! and she actually called me back with in 20 min
i m moving slow
bad dreams last night .. i hate those.
got to run
R& R are on the way
got to unload the trailer
sue

I woke up with a headache this am too. I think it is the barometric pressure as we are slotted to get some storms today. Cookie-maybe that is the case with you as well...

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Could be...mostly behind my eyes.

Well, I got the battery charged on my camera, so I was able to get those pictures I promised some time ago as well as a few more.

This is the frog I put in the birdbath (I got from Fran, at Joan's). However, it is a little heavier on one side and didn't look right, so I moved it to a table I put by the swing.

I got this blue ball from Fran, too. I loved it, and for only $12 I was thrilled!

The lotus is blooming it's little heart out! 7 blooms and buds right now.

I'm pretty sure that the waterfall mound looks much better than when you were here!

Wish I knew how to tell when melon was ripe!

I also wish it wasn't such a garden hog!

The Johnson's blue geranium, and the loosestrife were starting to look pretty ratty, so I cut them back. Much tidier in that area now.

Okay, that's it for now. Need to get some clothes on before I head outside. Guess I'll drag the hose out that I put away for the tour yesterday, cause we need rain bad, and our radar isn't showing any right now. The plants always like Mother Nature's watering so much better than mine, but hey...what can you do?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Cookie when the melon starts smellin' is when it's ripe. Keep your nose to it lol

Sue thanks for the jam lesson! LOL Now I know I won't be doing it any time soon, I'm way way too clutsy and 'organization' isn't in my vocabulary.

I've always used temp agencies, they're good for all parties involved.

I got bombarded here at work yesterday and I'm still behind so I won't be on much today. :(

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, that's going to be something to see....my down on my hands and knees trying to "whiff" the melon!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL We have a whole slew of cantaloupe that you can't tell if they're ripe or not unless you smell them. Glad Dave's doing that!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Get to work..Crissy! You want to get fired?????????????? The time off is great, but the $$ and benefits SUK!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cookie, what is the tall plant in the pond, in the back? It looks like a huge geranium?
Beautiful shots by the way. Love that blue ball. You could make one out of an old bowling ball also. Get them free from the bowling alleys or real cheap from thrift shops. Paint it dark color first, then sponge on lighter color.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

One of the ladies at Joan's sale the other day had decorated bowling balls. She had mosaics and some with marbles. They were really cool.

I think the plant you're asking about is the Lotus.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This one I circled in yellow. I did not know they grew tall like that? Very pretty!

Joyce did you know that you can collect seeds from those water lilies? I am going to give it a try.

Here is a pix of mine.

Yes, LK, that's the lotus. There are different sizes..some dwarf for smaller ponds and some that grow very large. I got this one from a lady who posted on Craig's list. She was losing her house :o( and was selling off her pond plants. I think I paid $5.00 for it at the end of summer last year. I repotted it (they hate having their roots disturbed) and I bought some baby seedlings of it, too. Potted them all up together and hoped for the best. Well, with 7 blossoms, guess it likes its' new home!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Cindy, I have that waterlily! I only know the name of two of my lilies. One is Claude Ikens and the other is Rebecca Jennifer. (She is a night blooming tropical, and I thought I'd lost her) right now she only has two leaves, and I'm doubting if she'll bloom before I have to bring her back in for the winter. If that's the case, it might be a vicious circle. She doesn't start any growth until the water is super warm. This year I had her in a black tub on concrete and she still is just getting going. I think maybe next year, I'll try putting a heating pad under her in the early spring, and maybe it will give her a jump start. The tropicals are all so beautiful, but really hard for us in the North to keep going. Bertie had a beauty from last year (we both got one at the 1/2 off sale at a pond store). Hers was a beautiful bright purple. There are no hardy purple lilies. Well, it didn't make it. It was struggling and I brought it home with me to put with Jennifer Rebecca to see if she would snap out of it, but she didn't. Dead, dead, dead. :o( That lily really bloomed it's heart out last year, too. Almost worth buying it as an annual as pretty as it was....hmmmm....may have to suggest that to her!

Cindy, are you talking about starting a lotus from seed, or a lily? I know you can start the lotus from the seeds in the pod, but I think the only way to get more lilies is to get a chunk of root.

Thumbnail by joycet
(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Joyce,

I was talking about lilies. I got this awesome book on Plant Propagation from NHGC. Boy it tells you everything, I LOVE IT!!!! Now I know how to start plants the RIGHT way, lol.

Glenview, IL

Hiya Sistahs!!

Nope I didn't post Sunshine, i talked to Jaye directly via phone...Sometime when i am that backed up, it is just easier for me to pick up a phone, lol...Hadn't spoke with Sistah in a while sooo, thought I'd catch up with her, at least since i haven't had a chance to blab with you all.

So i sure hope you don't mind, but i am just post on BWL and for the sake of time I will just copy & past part...

But, wow, you got a ton done on your gardens. Loved the photo's of Elvis day...
OH Gosh, Taynors, MY DH and kids LOVED, LOVED your salsa sause!! LOL, just love how you itemized your list of goings on!

Cindy, think of ya all the time, My Tomato Soup, has been blooming and wow, just love it's colors...Know you have one too.

OK, well, i am behind again so...got to get to iron and switch laundry out!

Love you all and miss you, Like Jaye said to me Wish we were back at Joyces just to relax by your beautiful pond! I know i sure could use some sistah hugs!

Lets see, here's whats up in my world, Steve has been keeping me crazy busy with invoices and proposals! This is a good thing, keeps my brain in somewhat order...So he has monopolized computer. In between, I keep busy with a few projects, while doing laundry and reading...We went to the Cottage this past weekend. it was fun, but it is no rest for me. I have to keep it clean, work on the ever growing weeds, and now that we have washer/dryer...get the towels washed for next time, hahaha, be careful what you wish for! Plus go wherever the family wants me to go. Not that I mind, but thats, more time that I have to rush, in the end to ready the house for next group of people.
This past weekend, I had to create a list of House Rules, which kinda P'd me off since people can't use common sense! The last group left one of the Antique dining chairs outside in the rain!! So now we have to get that buffed out, told Steve that was his job, lol he already got the lemmon wash stuff for it...OK, Then We bought a motorcycle trailor...It was a great deal, So we picked it up on the way home, about 8:30, should be home in plenty of time to throw a few things in laundry for Jakes trip, right, not! We get on Highway about 2.5 miles away and the trailor literally blows up! No spare, Steve calls the people. They look for a spare, meanwhile we unhitch the trailor at a gas station, go back to the house for our boat trailor spare, stop and get the peoples spare, and pray that one of them fits! Turns out Our Boat spare fits the best, so now we haul it back to the cottage and then hit the road again...Thank goodness Jake had his football camp bag ready to go...We got home at 1:40 in the morning. he made do with what he had...On the way home I was suppose to sleep, but couldn't because, Steve hates driving in the dark, was already exhausted and so I kept waking up to make sure he wasn't trying to doze off...Then went to bed but no sleep because i had to get Jake to school by 4:45 in the morning. Let Steve, sleep in, till he was ready to awake. I got home and now it's light outside, I am Hearing birds and now kind of wound up so Stayed up getting little quiet things done, I finally kind of slept on and off throughout the day...Well, had to follow Steve to the mechanics, his Transmission is out, so I am now without wheels until Friday! OK, so Before we left, I couldn't stand the deck any longer again, So I got Jake to fire up the power washer!
Yikes, It was hard work, and I am still not happy so will have to be done again! YES, it was that Dirty, about 2 years of groatie!! Anyway, I learned that it is not only extremely heavy, but Also "Powerfull" duh, thats why it's called a power washer, trying to adjust the hose, lost control of wand and power washed my big toe!! YIKES and YOW that hurts! Toe is finally getting a scab, but I get to be barefoot, while it heals...OK, then...being the crazy nut I am, got into a wrestling match with Jacob, yep, i got "jakedozed" ended up smashing my head on a partition wall. gaining a mighty bump and pulled a sliver half inch long outta my head!! Not his fault, he simply lifted his leg for me to miss, which i did and went flying, lol, needless to say, he IS good, and I will abide by my own rules, play rough and someone will get hurt.

OH, forgot to mention, came home to half my stuff removed from craft area, GRRR, overflowing gutters cause a flood in air conditioner and it overflowed into the house! So kids moved all my stuff, now gotta get it all put back!

With all that, decided yesterday to do nothing, and finish my book! Well, felt guilty so continued with a few chores inside the house...Way too humid outside..Today, working on my blocks, i am way behind a gain, Not going to stop until They are finished!! Will Send JULY & August, I hope...Well, i better close for now, Got some beautiful prints so have to iron them.

Have a great day!

Is that Judy's ring? I like it

Judy, I have been meaning to dmail you to see if I could get a copy of the skull cap pattern. I have one but I like yours better. So could I please?????

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Judy, come do some ironing for me, pretty please!!!
You hit the nail there Judy.. Susan's the original one here.. itemizing her day!!
We just continue to blab...

Cookie, Kel's still finding excuses not to do a water garden. I'll let it slide this time as his mornings are occupied taking care of Murdock.
Evenings.. don't try to mess up his eating schedule :D
I had a video of your pond, he'd seen it.. oohed and aaahed but he still won't sacrifice some weekends. Said weekends are his mini vacations :(

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yaayyyyyyy!! Bill to the rescue!!
Soon we'll hear Judy screaming!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, you have got to be the only one I know that still irons anything! It gets washed, and hung on the line, and then folded or hung up. That is it here! When I iron the quilt squares, I get a towel on the counter top, and press them, that is it!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

JUDY!! Dang you have had quite a ride, evening when your not supposed to be that busy you end up that busy. Looks like Bill found your ring! I could use some Sistah Hugs too!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Love the garden photo's..don't think Joyce that it is a bad thing to work for a temp service, might be just the thing, few days of work, few days home for the gardens...

Not sure if I told you that I gave in my resignation last Thursday..good time to do it as my boss was away..lol...Tuesday morning when he came in it was on his desk..asked me if I'd consider staying on if he put the telephones to my house...gave me a few days to think about it..did have visions of a blizzard outside, drinking hot chocolate in my jammies while working..didn't sound bad..we'll have to see..was really gongho to call it a day though..I'll give it until next Monday, by then I should have weighed the pro's and con's..

Looks like a storm is brewing..should be hearing from Jeff and Julie, they been Kayaking now for 2 weeks, about 3 or 4 more days and either I or Greg will have to pick them up...can imagine they are well tanned..

Judy/Judy/Judy, you always make me smile and chuckle..

All others, waving to you!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I still iron........ in fact I iron in the morning when I get dressed for work!
and of course I iron a lot when I'm quilting LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, working from home might just be the best thing for you. No more wasting hours in traffic!!
And you'll still have postage money for your swaps!

Cookie, temp work may be another avenue for long term work too.
Where I used to work, we'd hire temps, and then when we find them to be good workers, we always try to offer them a permanent position if there's an opening.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Crissy, how about some more hugs? ((((((((((((((((((((((((((CRISSY)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got home and took a walk through the gardens...phlox are all in bloom, sure wish they lasted longer
