Hey Thunder!! Have a good night's sleep!!

Yes, I'm up at this odd hour, when Kel's already in bed snoring away.
That's what one gets after sleeping almost the whole day!!

I really believe in God making certain things happen that we question a lot.. and then later.. wham.. we see why?

Yesterday.. or more than 12 hours ago, Kel accompanied me to the drivers' licence bureau which is about 25' from home to renew my driver's licence.
All I brought with me was my license and the SS card and the clerk that attended to me insisted I show proof of residency or Citizenship papers as I wasn't born here. How am I to know that the govt. has just issued this new ruling a couple of weeks' back? I've always get mine renewed with just the SS card and they didn't even ask for the 'green card'.
Then Kel stepped in and wanted more details as to why.. you all know how men are right?
The other clerk who was attending to another lady, all of a sudden threw her arms in the air and shouted at us to pipe down.
I had the common sense to just apologize, stood up and walk away.. dragging Kel by the bottom of his shirt.
Poor guy wanted to tell her off that we are paying her salary and she didn't have to be so rude.
I'm not a pacifist, but I'm not about to stoop to her level..it's better to just avoid any more ugliness.
When in the truck, he mouthed some unnecessary adjectives about her, and I told him to just let it go. Don't let her rudeness spoil our day.

I bet you all are wondering where I'm going with this?
Of course, I thought of writing a formal letter when I get home and complain.. but instead.. I went ahead and get my Citizenship papers, and yes we return to the DL office. Kel already took a day off work to do this for me, and I'm not about to waste it.
Poor Kel was still fuming. When we got there, he waited in the truck, scared that he won't be able to control himself.

Guess what?? When it's my turn, yes, it's that 'rude' clerk that attended to me.
Well sistahs... I was kinda apprehensive. But she was all polite.
When she asked whether I wore glasses, I told her only for reading.
I didn't realise how bad my eyesight has become. It's not good when she kept shaking her head. After telling me that I failed my eye test, she stuck to one line, and kept asking me to slowly repeat the alphabets on that.
As for the numerals, I did good.. and fortunately the signs are much easier to read.

I truly thought that I won't get a DL, until she directed me to the picture booth!

Whew..

After I'm through, I thank her and bid her "God bless you" which took her by surprise. Her face fell then, and couldn't see me eye to eye.

Apparently she had regret her previous action. So maybe, she's trying to make amends by letting me pass the test.

Not for me to understand her, but to thank God for creating a situation that I can get my DL.

So two weeks from now.. I'm getting my eyes checked!

Gonna read for awhile, get my eyes tired.. and I'll see you all later.

good story Jaye,

My sister is trying to get paper work so she can get her license renewal...she was told new laws in effect this year from issues of 9-11 home security...........she has been married 3 times............1st one annulled...........2nd one deceased.............well she got her first license when she was single, did not change it when she got married...........time for renewal with second husband, new name , got license no problem... third husband many years later gets license changed , shortly after marriage.....so now time for renewal..........she gets the card in the mail, goes to license office............the guy is looking at the computer, looks at her, back at computer...this goes on for a while...she says is there a problem??? guy says" you been married three time??" she is surprised he knows this?? she says "yes"....he says "you had no license in your first married name" (what does this have to do with getting your drivers license?? kinda creepy what they have in their computers these days!!)

she tries to explain, did not change it...marriage ended quickly etc......well now she has to bring them marriage certificate and annulment papers from that marriage, plus marriage certificate #2, and death certificate from #2, along with marriage certificate # 3 to prove she went from being this name to that name..to next name.....GUY says "we must be certain you can prove that YOU are the person who had these names" !!!

she has moved so many times since then, had half her house destroyed in a hurricane, she can not find some of the papers!!! got my momma searching up north, she's on the phone with people trying to find where she can find these records????? she says " maybe I will just have to quit driving??"

now I would think you would have to show you had the annulment to get married again??? don't you ?? so maybe if she goes to where the second marriage took place??? she could get copy there???? I will have to call her and see if she tried that.

any body with name changes, you may want to call ahead and see what you need for info if you are due to get renewal..... you thought it took long at the DMV before??? well now they got people bringing all these extra documents, they got to read, and probably take copies of.....could really take all day to get a license renewal!!!

Thunder.. I wasn't asked 5 years ago if I needed to change my last name to Kel's.
Wasn't asked again this year.. just the citizenship papers!!
I know one day I'll have to march into the SS office and have my last name changed.. but as long as your SS# is the same...and my credit card's still the same!!! Lol!!
But not planning to have a 3rd husband!

Thunder, I hope she'll get her license soon before they decide to raise the fees!

Goodness, all the stuff you have to go through to prove it is you!
Jaye you better get your SS card fixed, because they will give you a big hassle over that one! Fighting the government office is such a pain!

Sorry I havent been around much as I have had some bad luck my way as of lately. I threw my back out last week and wow lemme say the pain from it is worse than back labor.. ughhh They say my last disc is compressed against my tailbone and has my sciatic nerve pinched.. So needless to say my landscaping jobs got put to a stop, working at the barbershop is done, and the house is falling apart.
The kids are helping inside when they can and Max has been planting my outside beds that I had set up but not yet in the ground. Stinks I tell ya.. I cant sit for too long, stand for more than about a 1/2 hour and of course walkng is a whole other story. Im going to a Chiropractor but the last visit I was feeling a bit better until he worked on me and Im back to hurting pretty bad again..

On the upside I started my college classes and they are going well. Just waiting on my grants to go through and hopefully the overage to show up really soon as we really need the money to help with bills. Having the Tubal reversal is going to have to wait.. ugghh Doc says I need to lose some weight (besides my back and my hips being locked) and I cant get the Hospital where the surgery was done to send me release forms for my records..

Saturday we will be adding another fur baby to our home. Sad situation but is Bellas brother. My friend in Fl bought him right after we got Bella and is now in the process of a nasty divroce. With 4 other dogs and 3 kids she cant handle him anymore. She just doesnt have the time he needs for training and he is playing rougher with the kids, dominance issue on her part because the man of the house is gone. He thinks he is king tut and at 125 pounds he is running her over... So she was going to give him up to a shelter and I said no way.. So Saturday she is driving up from Fl and we are meeting her at the 77/64 exchange which is about 2 1/2 hours from us to pick im up. I think he will be ok one he gets a schedule and soem training time in with Max and I as well as wore out by Bella running him in circles.. lol Just gotta fid another kennel for him so he doesnt get into anything while we are not home. I ooked into them but just cant afford the extra 75 to buy one yet so I asked on freecycle and a wish website that I used a time or two..

Anywho my legs cramping up so I need to go get the ice out and my brace,,

Thunder she needs to go to the county offices, or call the county offices, of where she was married and annulled. Same for the 2nd marriage, the county clerks office of the county it took place in should have all of that information on file, of course she's going to have to pay to get copies of it. Same with the death certificate.

Jaye I am so sorry you had problems at DMV yesterday. My license is up at the end of 2011. Dave just got his renewed and didn't have to go through any of that, except the eye test. Jaye I'm glad you're getting your eyes checked, its crazy how that can creep up on you so gradually you don't even notice.

Well I got bombarded yesterday so I'm not going to be on much today, Oh Lordy Ms. Cheerful has a major major migraine today, and yet she's here at work! My goodness!!

Whee, all that just to renew your driver's license!!! I am facing that also--guess I had better start digging out all papers needed. Jaye, I do believe you might be able to change you name on SS via the internet. Not sure but worth a try. Thunder, hope all is resolved for your sister.

Not much here, had a wonderful day with my GD's yesterday. Was their parents anniversary so Kim and I got to have them for an "adventure". You ladies will never know how long I have waited for that day!!! Especially since I was told I would never, ever be able to do anything with them. God does answer prayers!!!!!!! Today we are all going to do school supply shopping--yes even the teacher has to buy supplies.

Auntie M-I know that a lot of teachers buy stuff themselves for their classrooms since the schools don't provide nearly enough in $$ of project supplies. Michaels now thru the end of Sept had Techer Fridays where a teacher shows their ID and gets 10% of everything they buy on Fridays...just an FYI for Kim if she needs/wants it:)

You do have to go to SSA, you have to sign the docs.

Jaye, your diabetes may be messing with your eyes. Glad your getting them checked soon.

Bertie is having her second eye procedure today. She is being treated for glaucoma. They are going in and reducing the pressure. She said it hurt last week when they did her first eye, and it's not supposed to...hope today is better for her. Next Wednesday she goes back once again to have both eyes checked to see if the procedures succeeded.

I had to smile yesterday at one of the girls while walking the shade bed. She looked at me incredulously and asked if all those plants could take shade? (Now why would they be in the shade bed if they couldn't take shade????). She said she thought the only plant that would take shade was hosta! Guess we showed her! So she asked me for a list of all the plants there so she could add some to her shade. So I just walked through and made a list for her. I also added a couple things I don't have in my shade bed. Jack-in-the-pulpit for one, and I can't remember what else I wrote down. Since I know that there are some JITP growing in my woods now, I may transplant a couple to the bed come next Spring.

I planted the little Empress Wu hosta I got from Sue. Got just the right spot for it. It will anchor the left side of the shade bed like the Francis Williams is anchoring the right. It's the only hosta I know of that wants to be fertilized 3 times a year! Guess if you're going to grow up to be 4 ft. tall and 6 ft. wide, you need some food to help you do it!

Man where was everyone yesterday??? I kept checking in here and nobody was saying anything.

Today was my 100th work out at Curves YAY!!! but I am really having a problems shedding these pounds. I think it is because of my mom's cooking. She fixes way too much and of course I have to eat it, lol. I keep telling her not to make so much. I'm happy with a meat, veggie and salad. But she fixes a 5 course meal almost every night. She only weight 108 so all that food in not hurting her at all.
I told Doug I have 7 weeks to lose 20 pounds before we go on the Redwood Run, he said LOL ok.

We have been having some crazy weather. We are down in the mid 80's and it sure feels nice. But it is going back up to low 90's this weekend. Well I am going outside to pull weeds. Going to rearange flower beds. I don't like them. Going to move daffs and tulips, transplant some Iris'.

Crissy, I strongly believe it's racial profiling with me. Like Dave, MIL too had no problems with the renewal and she had that last week!! Somehow, they must have thought I'm Mexican??? Goodness.. this reminds me of WW2 when the Jews had to carry a race card :(

Was up last night till 4 in the morning.. if you can't sleep might as well do something right?
What a start to my 55th b'day. Sliced about 5 pounds of okra, cooked a whole pot of fresh peas and blanched, diced and froze some garden fresh tomatoes.
Later today, I'll be 'smothering' the diced okra. I think Sis Kathy is familiar with this procedure, as she's 1/3 Cajun.
You cook the okra in some oil for a long, long time (about an hour). Keep stirring to avoid being burnt, till ALL the sliminess is gone.
Oh yes.. what fun I'll have!

No, I didn't make a vege garden this year. So lucky to have a very kind customer who shared her bounty harvest with us!

My youngest brother, on FB, had asked Kel to treat me to a scrumptious meal.
That he did for lunch. I had a terrific downright country cooking! It's so good you can 'slap your mama' silly!!
Fresh lima beans, fresh stir fried okra, rice and ham gravy and a fried pork chop! Seconds?? Ehem.. would be too embarrasing for me to look that greedy!!!

Later this evening, he's treating me to a nice juicy medium rare NY strip steak. I'm a carnivore!!!

I don't expect anything from anyone, as you all give me your hearts..and that's why I omit my b'date on DG, again.
But let me tell you that I was EXTREMELY surprised by a very kind DGer who remembered this day. (No, she doesn't frequent here)
Got a gift start of the week from her which is heirloom quality and all I can tell her is a heartfelt thank you.
This gift here, I'll take a photo soon and share with y'all. I won't mention her name, for the sake of her privacy.
But I was so overcome by emotions that until now, I'm still shaking my head.

A special side note to a sistah: This is exactly how I feel when I got yours too, and it is too precious to be soiled. Your heart's in it and it will be bequeathed to my niece who loves the same critter, when I die.

Got calls from Louisiana.... Alabama.. (Sorry Sis, I wasn't home :D)...

Think the best gift I got today was Kel screaming at the top of his lungs and sang!!! Scared the kitties away!!

And to tell you the truth I thought your b-day was yesterday. I would have swore I remembered seeing post on July 28 last year. Reason I remember that as July 28 was my grandma's b-day.

Doug is a happy camper right now....his motorcycle is fixed and ready to ROAR down the road, lol. He is coming up this weekend and we are taking off Saturday for a ride. Then Sunday we are taking my mom fishing.

I have been having problems sleeping too. I get really tired around 2ish, but don't take a nap. But then come time to go to bed I am wide awake and toss and turn. It was almost 2am when I finally feel asleep and then I'm awake at my normal time 5:30 ugh. Right now I am so sleepy that i probaly could take a good nap.

My Momma had to go to the town hall up north, in the county where my sister first got married...they would not do anything by computer or mail!!! she is having the annulment papers sent, she found them by phone....others are easy for her as all in same county, same state.....

on another side of things, one of my boys needs a certified birth certificate, all we have here is copy, So Hubby calls town office where he was born, and asks "what I need to do to get cert.?" they said just send a self addressed stamped envelope with a note saying you need cert of "john b doe" birth date...and we will send it !!!! now I tell ya I don't know which is more scary...having to have so much info to get drivers license...or...... not needing to give any ID to get a certified birth certificate!!!!

I have only been married once, and did not have a license in my maiden name, so I am hoping I will not have any problems, as I don't have a certified birth certificate, and do not have any idea where my ss card is!!! guess I should try to find it Huh????
