Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Visit with friends!!!

LOL!!! I want to get a Masters but I'll be paying for my BA until I'm 60, unless I come into a boatload of money.

I'd love a job from 5:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tues/Wedn/Thurs. now I just have to find one...

Just got a call from Darlene, this lovely lady Danie who paints here with her had a run in with her hubby, she's not doing very well, Darlene asked if she could come here for the night...said ok

Well I'm downstairs while Danie is on the telephone..she arrived sobbing, a few warm hugs and ears that are willing to listen she has settled down somewhat..

Just moved her vehicle completely in the back of the house as her hubby, won't say dear hubby is out looking for her..what a lovely lady...she could stay with me forever..lol.. besides she's a cook..wouldn't that be the cats meow...

All kidding aside, it's a pretty overwhelming situation for her...one day at a time right?

Best go see if I can make her something, am sure she's not had any supper...

Oh Betty, it is so hard when we have hubby problems. Give her a hug from all of us please?

Bev - your gardens are lovely! I wish I had lilies like yours..... I have 2 daylilies and I had another type but something has eaten them.... I "Take after" Betty... pulling weeds is like therapy to me.... like watering the yard and taking a bath... Hmmmm......

Crissy - when we first moved in this house ...7 years ago... DH worked part time at a nursery... That's how we got most of our plants. Boss would say "throw that away" and DH would throw it...... in the back of his truck....then nurse it back to health......LOL! He still jokes with me to go through the dumpster at the nursery....

Betty - I can't believe you're gonna do it ! BUT NOT as much as I can't believe Paul will let you ....If he's smart....he'll negotiate your hours with you to get you what you want....and then you ask for a raise ! :)

Best: Work is going good. Been at new job exactly a year yesterday. They are happy with all the new business I have brought in.
Worst: I made a mistake at work...found out today. It might be a huge one. It was due to lack of knowledge but I still feel bad. Boss is upset but understands it was due to my unintelligence (see that's me being hard on myself).
Learned: Hm.... I am learning that sometimes when I let my life lead me...(ie. "Jesus take the wheel" LOL! but not really...) .... it leads me down a path that is SO RIGHT..... too many "coincidences" lately that have been positive things.

FRANTIC...

Over the past 3 months I've been seriously thinking about resigning, enjoying retirement..keep thinking about having more time to enjoy being me..sometimes it's so overwhelming taking calls from people who are destitute and have no hope..am good at my job though and am always able to offer a bit of hope providing they take the first step and come in to see us...

Yesterday I decided that it would be the day I would give in my notice...

Typed it out, all formal and all, gave 2 weeks notice..sat at the computer, with a should I? shouldn't I? all the while my finger on 'send'...

You always have second thoughts, my pensions which come in on the 1st of every month cover all my bills, so no worry there, play money I wouldn't have, but not being stupid, I'm more than capable to finding employ for a few days a week, after all I'm not getting any younger and if I wait until I no longer have the ability to get around, that would be sad...

Do I press send???? pressed and gone.... talk about FRANTIC???
Was it the right thing to do? FRANTIC THOUGHTS now racing through my mind... there's your frantic Tubby...

Paul is out of town for the next 3 - 4 days so know he'll ask me to stay longer while he finds someone..I've clearly made up my mind...

I was teaching painting for a few years, Darlene has kept up with the class at my house so I'll take on the responsibility of teaching a few weeks after I've had a rest...I cancelled my night classes at Christmas because it made for a long day, I'll resume them shortly as well..always something to keep me busy I'm sure...I'm not a 'sit at home and feel sorry for myself kind of person' sooo know I'll be busy..

Lordy, my last day of work will be August 6th, the day Melanie and Greg and family start vacation, already he's doing the happy dance, needed someone to care for Ned/Sophie (furries) so there, won't be lonesome my first week home...



Mary, your post sounds so positive..mistakes happen especially when you haven't had training in all aspects of the job..am sure your boss will calm down, already I think he sees your point about not having the knowledge...

So, the plants your DH brought home, did most survive?

I have to say the same Mary, when you leave Jesus at the wheel, all turns out for the best...when we make plans, HE just laughs...

Rainy morning here, calls for same all day...

This afternoon when I get of work I go for a perm, should cancel, felt bad this morning about leaving Danie home alone..she was still sleeping when I left, I tried to be as quiet as a mouse, hopefully things will turn out for her...

Betty tons of prayers for Danie!! I got to meet her when I was there, she is a sweetheart! Poor thing.

Let me tell ya, my mom was at her job for 30 years when she was 47 and kept debating retiring off and on, but felt she was too young to retire, she made the decision to retire at age 50 and it was the best thing she ever did, and she has been everything but bored.

Crissy, forgot you met Danie...she just called, said she took something to sleep last night and slept until 10am..said she wanted to take me to a new restaurant on the bay for supper tonight and a movie..not really something I want to do, rather stay home but will go..will do her good..

Hello All !

Betty - DH took this pic last weekend during our "Quick" New Orleans visit... Pic was taken from Bourbon Street!

I noticed the shadow (see behind me)....and it was SO AWESOME! I'm sure it was meant for that shadow to be seen from Bourbon Street... The NEAT Thing was that once we were fussing about getting a picture... several other tourists noticed it as well and stopped to take the photo... It made me feel good to have drawn attention to it !

Oooh Mary, you know Danie has her laptop here, she home teaches her children and they just spent 6 months travelling USA, should have been a year but her dad is terminal and she wanted to spend Christmas with her family, anyway, when I got home yesterday, got off early as usual thanks to Paul I looked at about 100 photo's of New Orleans..felt right at home...many of her photo's had orbs as well, especially near the Lalaurie..thanks for sharing..

Did have a nice evening out, lordy, sure got spoilt, she wouldn't let me open my wallet at any of our adventures...

She's a strong believer in life after death..says her animal spirit is the white wolf..anyway, for some of you I'm sure that's too far out..No sooner had she said that did June arrive to chat, she was excited as can be, a medium was in town doing readings, her medium name 'white wolf'..now that just peaked our curiosity!!!

Danie had made reservations at a unique restaurant in Midland, I didn't even know it was there...it was called 'the explorer restaurant' for 6:30pm then a movie at 10pm..yikes, I'm not used to being up so late but went for the gusto.. As it was only 4:30 Danie said why don't we go see the medium..ok with me, off we went...

Was to funny, she was about 50, sweet as could be..I went in just for the palmistry..read that I had 2 children, 4 grandchildren, said I'd have 5 great grandchildren and would live to entertain them..said she'd get on the lighter side of me because she could feel my humor..

With my hand in her hand, she turned it over and took off the ring I was wearing, said there was a 5'9" man, hair similar color to mine (which she told me NOT to color it) with blue/green eyes (3 children) who would come into my life, loved dancing and travelling, could see many trips abroad but that I won't find him sitting in my house and that I should not be wearing a ring ..said that was a discouragement..lol
If nothing else it gave me a laugh..

Then on to supper, best meal I've had in years..of course for the price of it-should be! Then I took Danie touring in Penetanguishene, little town where I was raised and talked about growing up there, by the time we got to the movie theatre it was nearing 10..movie was 2 1/2 hrs long of which we found out later that most who went to see it had no idea of what they were watching..ever see 1/2 movie theater goers stand in the parking lot all trying to figure out what the ending was??? that was us..can't remember the name, star was Leonardo from the Titanic...

On our way home she talked about taking the kids to Mexico to teach them about the history of the Inca's or Aztec's can't remember, she spoke of so many interesting places they'd been in order to teach history as a classroom project.. Debbie I started to tell her about our adventure near St. Louis, ancient home of the Mississipian tribes so when we got home, on went the computer and she read and watch the video clips, going to add it to their next voyage...so it was a late night..am trying to stay quiet this morning so she can sleep in...

Not sure what adventures will take place today but I'm sure I'll find some..know it's Collingwood Elvis Festival tomorrow, might check and go today as well..keeping her busy helps..

She says that she'll take this weekend to get her thoughts together and will go home at the beginning of the week so she can put her life back together with whatever choices she makes...

Ok by me, she's such an interesting individual...

WOW - what experiences your guest has had. Learn all you can from her while she's there as you never know when you will want that info. She sounds like a great person to be around as long as you have stamina!!!! Just wonderful......

Oh Betty-I want to see that movie. It is basically about warping people's dreams as a method of interrogation to learn all their secrets. At least that is what the preview was about. Looks pretty interesting. I don't find Danie's beliefs any more out there than the average beliefs of most of the people that are on DG. To be honest I think that there are things that everyone on a majority of the threads does that I find a little ridiculous and out there. I guess it is an individuals preference....but I know some will think her and her white wolf are far in left field. Sounds like Danie has a lot to think about in regards to her home life and I hope that if it is abuse, that she thinks about her kids welfare. Even if it isn't directed at them, they do get backlash from being in the same house where it goes on. A lot of people think that the kids don't know what's going on-but kids always know. She sounds like a very neat lady and that you two are having a good time together:) I've had my fortune/palm read a few times and I believe that the future is always changing, so I always take it like you did-pure entertainment.

Betty I'm glad you had such a great time! My grandmother once told me that when she moved to Modesto she went to a fortune teller before she met my grandfather and had my mom, she said the teller told her that she was going to meet a man, get married, have twins and the boy will pass on shortly after birth due to being too premature, the girl will make it and be healthy. My grandmother laughed at this, she said she wasn't going to have any more children because she couldn't carry to term and had already lost one before my half aunt Carol was born. At some point later on, I have no idea how much time passed, my grandmother met my grandfather, they got married, she got pregnant with twins, had them 3 months early, and the boy passed 8 hours after birth, the girl was relatively healthy other than a lazy eye they fixed in San Francisco when she was 3 and she's always had vision problems in that eye. I don't know how much of my grandmother's story is true, all of it, half of it, or none of it, she could come up with some doozies sometimes lol, but that's the story anyhow.

When I was a Realtor I had a client who had a white wolf protecting her from the black magic that tried to attack her every night when she was asleep, she wouldn't go outside or leave the house without her protective cape to protect her from the black magic. I used to study Astrology and when I was 18 I got a book where you learn how to cast your own lifelong horoscope, I still have the book and like to go back and read it every now and then to see how my life has stuck to what it says. So far it's pretty dead on, which freaks me out a little, but I am supposed to come into a lot of money 'later in life,' so we'll see LOL!

Phone rang at 8pm this morning, SIL Charlene (Bernie's wife) called to say there was an opening at the big resort..simply answering telephones, little office, you can read/knit/watch t.v. etc. basically same as what I was doing..have to fill the position shortly so I went and filled an application, she told the girl about me, she'll bring it to her Monday..we'll see what develops..ONLY thing is, not part time and might have to work some weekends, don't think I'd mind that..said that other part time positions are only open, just not now, so if I took the once she's thinking of, once I see a posting more to my liking I could apply...will all depend..

Best part about it is it's a major chain, you can get rooms for yourself all over the Canada/USA for $10.00 night, you also get free rooms at the resort, medical coverage- includes eyes/dental etc.

Who knows, worth at least checking it out...

Off I go to fill hummingbird feeders, critters are flying around wanting a drink!

Wow Betty that sounds good. Is it closer to home? sometimes you save a lot of $ with just a shorter commute. You do so much on the weekends going hither and yon to shopping and fairs etc. - would you need to work every weekend?

Not sure Barb...will wait to see if I even get an interview before asking for shorter hours and no weekend..lol

Been quite a day, certainly enjoyed it..won't be a late night because it's Collingwood Elvis festival day tomorrow..enjoyed it so much last year that I've decided to do the Elvis Gospel breakfast...most of the entertainers will be on hand to sing..so likely a 6am up and at it...

I hear ya Betty and my comment still stands. The kids know it's happening which isn't a healthy environment for them either....

Well everyone, I would like to introduce you to Lillie Marie. She is a fighter. The meds have worked on her heart valve, so she will not need heart surgery. Thanks for the prayers. She can breathe on her own, just not enough, so they will keep her on a ventilator to keep the oxygen levels high enough. Momma is pumping breast milk, so she will have proper nutients. If everything keeps on path, she will go home around October or so?

Will pray for that little darlin and the whole family. BEV

God blesses His children and she surely is a Child ofGod. What a treasure she is already.

Betty - My first experience with a psychic was actually on Bourbon Street as well...Marie Laveau's. I was about 29 years old, single, DS was 2....so about 16 years ago. I was with a group of friends just having fun. She said I was "in Broadcast...TV...or Radio Sales"... YES - that specific. And I had NOTHING on my person to indicate that. Dressed in shorts...Drivers license, money and gum in my purse. That's all. Made me stop to think....and that was just one of several things she said.

SO - maybe you'll meet the new guy at the new job ! LOL! "Get out of the house" Might be a nice guy at a gorgeous resort!

Your friend Danie sounds like a Hoot... Being a salesperson makes me a very non-judgemental person...so I believe I have something to learn from everyone. She sounds like a great person to learn from. I hope her situation improves for herself and her children...

Drama tonight. On FB last night.... DSD1 accuses me last night of messing with her laptop. Well this was the drama last night... we figured out that DS moved it and turned it off "For her" ...and it was not a big deal at all. But it hurt me deep that she would accuse me publicly for something I not only didnt do....but woudn't even imagine doing...

RIght when I start thinking I can plan a "last" vacation for this family... I realize it's just not a good idea. Girls take after their 'biomom' SO much. It makes me SO SAD.. :(

Mom will be able to gain strength and still get to visit with her..Jeff spent the 1st 4 months of his life in hospital, was difficult for me and Greg to keep me busy, turns out is the healthiest person you can find, think in 40 years other than seeing a doctor a few times for scrapes/breaks he got while dirt biking,skying he's never seen one..

Mary, chin up sweetie, children are almost grown, before you know it it will be you and DH and a quiet house..hope she reposted on facebook the reason why the computer had glitches..

Got to talk to Danie's children Stacey last night via Skype (?) they are adorable and quite the entertainers, had me in stitches..dad is doing well with them, infact Danie talked to him for an hour last night, did not go well, then about 1 hr. later her cell again, and that went a bit better so we'll see the outcome ..you know, this family travels all around the world, owns several homes in my area, cottages on the lake, laudromat and a few more business's, not much more a person could ask for but still problems...hoping all will be well..

Ahhh didn't win the big 50 million lottery, boo hoo as we would all have gone for a trip, did win 1 free ticket so still another chance...Danie bought me some lottery tickets for another draw, haven't checked that out, was only 3 million, guess we could still play..lol

Waiting for Danie to be ready for our day of adventure, will pick up Cathy and off for breakfast with Elvis'ssssss lol don't think I'll bring my camera, Danie has such a good one, she'll take the photo's and will download for me..

Mary-out of curiosity, who bought her laptop? I know this sounds like a weird ??, but when I was growing up, everything that wasn't a present was really mom's and I was "leasing" it. I would be upset about the public accusation as well and have to say I wouldn't have handled it as well as you are.

Betty I thought that if you quit working for Paul you would be not working anymore. Sounds like a great opportunity but also sounds like that's going to put you working more than you already are. Do you really want to do that? If you just want to cut your hours I wonder if Paul would improvise?

LK She is so sweet!!! I'm so glad you posted a pic of her. I'm praying also!! My mom was in the hospital 3 or 4 months when she was born too and she's extremely healthy, 62 years old and bp is perfect, cholesterol is perfect, triglycerides are a tad high but not enough to prescribe medicine, heart is perfect and no blocked arteries, other than her constant severe pain from a dr's mess up 20 years ago she's in perfect health.

Stacey, I am with you. If she hasn't already, I would make her repost a I'm sorry for what I said!
