2010 Sistahs reunion at Cookies..the memories! #2

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

It is obvious that you really took your time and put all the rocks in special places, Joyce. They all look so happy and so are we!

By the way, all the carmels are gone and Stacey didn't share the toffee. Are you still making? I'd love two packages of both. D-mail me $ if you are making. I need y candy fix!!

Raleigh, NC

Sistahs, I'm still planting irises into a bed somewhere - at this point, anywhere -

....and I just got word a large shipment of irises from Wisconsin is on it's way two weeks early. This weekend I go pick up another couple hundred from High Point's dig.

if you heard from me before September, it will be me asking for help saving my sanity!

You don't even want to hear that I'm supposed to be putting in orders with 3 other folks - I won silent auctions, and it won't make sense to pay full shipping costs for just one. LOL

i happy with my home
cookie wore me out today
quick check in
stay cool in this heat.
hugs to you all
sue

LOL - I'm limiting myself - I still have 5 caramels/toffees left.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

So glad to see you all. Welcome back Susan.

Betty, hope you're having a wonderful time..."thank you, thank you very much...." In my very best Elvis impersonation. ^_^

I wore Sue out??????? Huh...think it might have been the other way around! Sue brought me an "Empress Wu" hosta. If you haven't seen this one, check it out. I'll have to move some things when it gets more mature! It is supposed to get 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide! WOW! Can't wait! Sue sold some to Joan.

Joan's sale was yesterday, and I came home with some wonderful things. I got a bald cypress tree. I've been wanting one for quite some time. Now to find just the right spot for it. I also got a Rosemary Willow (thank you Sue...). I just fell in love with that at Joan's and there they were on the tables for sale....also got some cute stuff.
Fran (you remember the nice Canadian lady) was there selling and I didn't remember her being there before. But she said she'd been there with her husband. She only lost him about 8 months ago. They were the ones that I told you had the most wonderful "Fairy Doors" for trees. He made them all himself. Well, she didn't have any of those for sale as she said she just couldn't do it yet. But she had amazing other things. I got a really cool blue ball and I put it in the shade bed. She had this really cute fake rock with a frog on it, and I put it in the birdbath. I'll try to get some pictures later.

I invited Joan and Fran to come for lunch and see our gardens. Can you believe I even had the nerve to ask her here with the way her garden looks???? Well, I thought she might enjoy seeing a garden of someone else for a change. She said she'd like to see some local nurseries while she was here, too. So since she's off on Mondays, I'll call and we'll set something up.

Glad that the family reunion is over....that was a lot of work. My legs just killed last night from standing all day long. I had been expecting 40 people...but we didn't get that many. We got 50 instead! Whew! Toured my garden with several different people, then took about 10 over to Bertie's. They were all suitably impressed! ^_^

We had a brief shower this morning. Not even an 1/8 of an inch. But anything is better than nothing! It could rain all day and it wouldn't make me mad!

I had this Frog with a lotus leaf (you may remember it) filled with marbles and I put water in it for the butterflies. Well, I sat down for a few minutes yesterday and looked over and almost all the marbles were gone...hmmmm....wonder where they went? Well, Berties 4 y/o GD was here the day and she spent an amazing amount of time playing with those marbles. She put them in a potato chip bag after choosing each one carefully. She was not a happy camper when her Mimi said she had to put them back and couldn't take them home with her. Well, I supposed that some kids had pockets full of them somewhere. Then my 3 y/o GS came over looking at the frog...I said Will do you know where the marbles are??? He smiled and pointed at the pond. Then he started scooping the rest of them up a handful at a time and throwing them in the pond. Sure enough...all those marbles are in the pond....sigh....guess I'll have fun fishing those out!

Tuesday, our exercise class is coming for lunch and garden tours. We're starting out at Bertie's, touring then having lunch. She's doing chicken salad on croissants and I'm fixing a pasta salad. Then we're touring my garden and we're having dessert here. Looks like there will be 8 or 10 of us. I have a few more things I want to get finished. (I say that after everything I have..) and then the garden will be good to go.

Well, I've certainly been gabby this morning! Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Wow, I am exhausted just reading all the things you have and are doing. I how I wish we lived closer--I need someone like you around to motivate me.

Just another hot, humid day here. Kim is making more peach preserves--5 1/2 pints yesterday. Oh my but the house does smell so good--yes the preserves are good also. Had some for breakfast with biscuits. I must say I am proud of her--something she wanted to learn to do and has been doing a great job.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Whew is right! Do you ever slow down? Waiting on pictures when you can!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

It's kind of overcast right now...might be a good time to go get those pix!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow Cookie you are a busy one! It's still way too hot to do anything outside and I don't feel all that great right now anyway. I was fine before I ate but now I have a headache and just feel kinda yucky. Maybe I need a nap.

So glad you all had a great time!

Hi Sue!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Go take a nap, Crissy...that's an order!

Talked with Sis Kathy. She came through her procedure just fine. They told her not to eat any fruits or veggies for two weeks, but she says "that's not gonna happen"! You know Sissy....can't tell her anything!

I went out and got a few pictures. I was getting ready to snap the lotus blossoms and the battery died....geesh, I hate when that happens!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaay for Sis Kathy's procedure going just fine!! Thanks for letting us know, Joy ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

HOOORAY Kathy!!

Took a nap, ate some taco's and I still don't feel all that great. Headache is gone thanks to cheap aspirin lol

I LOVE EYE CANDY !! ITS MY FAV AND ITS FAT FREE ROFLLLLL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You have that one right!! Go for the soul too.l

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Now you all know why Marion and Sue are two of my very best sistahs....we think alike!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh yeah!!! The horse wasn't bad either!!! LOL

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Peach preserves, yummy, my favorite. Marion, tell Kim she can come a visit anytime as the peaches are just beginning to come in here and she can make my kitchen smell good!

Cookie you are a busy gal but so glad that others enjoy all the work you have done in the gardens. They are truly spectacular and and you should be very proud to show them off. Bertie, too.

I planted some things here but many of them died due to the heat and lack of good soil. I hope that the roots are fine and they will come back next year. I already have a hosta that is coming back and a few others that are coming back from the root after the tops died off. this fall I will go shopping in Stacey's garden and see what I can bring home.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL I used to go to an aerobics class all the time, but we didn't have a hottie man! DANG too bad, I'd drive up there to just see him.

I love shopping in someone else's garden!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL I certainly will tell her Janice. It has been trial and error but a least she has learned a lot in the process. Must say it is good for someone who has never attempted to do this before. Actually Kim is a better cook than I am she doesn't have much time with her teaching and now she will be starting work on her Specialist Degree come September.

I hope you plants do come back. It is so frustrating to spend the time, effort and money to lose them--I know.

Sending a great big hug to all as I need to get back to my projects. Today is my son and his wife's anniversary so we get to take the girls out to dinner and a movie.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Extremely HOT day here...took all day yesterday to get over my 12 hr. visit with Elvis'ssssss lol

My gardens although I've not been attending them of late are gorgeous, must be the humidity helping them along..weeds don't seem to be growing but flowers much taller and stronger than most years..

Long weekend for us coming up, Saturday morning will be an excursion along Barrie Bay for Kempenfest...over 400 vendors, lots of garden art..yippee...think I'll be there early morning so that I can be home before lunch and before the crowds..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will share a photo..have over 400 so one won't hurt..lol

Have to tell you, although 100 were on the streets and in concert although he was oriental he had the manerisms and voice of Elvis..my favorite by far..

Well, today was our exercise class luncheon. We met at Bertie's at 10:00, toured her garden, ate lunch (she served a brisket rollup and chicken salad on croissants, plus fresh fruit and a dip) I made Italian pasta salad. Then we walked to my house and toured my garden. We all came inside as it was starting to heat up and I served dessert (Lemon lush with half of it being Chocolate Lush..) and coffee (iced tea, too). We had 15 all together. So there was only one missing from our group. We were only expecting about 8, so it was a nice surprise that everyone wanted to come.

I had several requests for both the pasta salad and the Lemon Lush, so I guess that was a hit.

Almost time to leave for plasma donation.
