2010 Sistahs reunion at Cookies..the memories! #2

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's an excellent start to a great promotion in a year or so. This isn't the way I want to get it, I was hoping she would just quit and move her family to Dallas where she's from like she has always been dreaming of doing, and maybe this will give her a kick in the pants so she is able to do so.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Partially thanks to you Tante;) The mattress you got for him is a waterproof plasticy type (if that makes any sense) so when there is an accident, it can be wiped clean and there will be no chance of soaking through and making it super smelly:)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Crissy)))))))))))) Congratulations on keeping your job, and getting a private office!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! That's soooo awesome!
I'll bet you're relieved!
I'm now a bit envious, cuz I used to have a private office in another job, now I have a corner "spot", but it really is quite private and a lot of people wish they had such a nice spot.

Well, we're almost packed! My DH is out buying last minute stuff - perishables, etc.
We'll be taking a toaster, TV & DVD player, and a fridge lol (it's one of those cooler fridges which can be used either way (as well as a warmer to keep food warm - your choice!). Talk about spoiled, eh?

Raleigh, NC

Iris club sale today - we made a profit, not as large as was expected, because, at 12:01 (sale went to 3pm) it started POURING rain - yeah! thank ya Lord! But after the rain started, only one customer. Oh well. we needed the rain.

guess who came home with 140 irises to care for until we can organize a second sale! oh well - ya'll won't think anything is different, if I don't read your posts for another few days, right?

missing everyone's news here....but just glancing up, I KNOW I gotta read what's happening with Crissy!

.... don't ya'll let me miss Fairy baby birth now, ya hear?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well Hellloo Sistahs & Bruddahs!

Whew having one heck of high humidty wave!! Don't wanna do too much.

Well, I've been on the never ending runaround, spending some good quality time with the Family too.

Lets see, got my little curtains up at the house, grrr. mis-calculated measurements so I need to make 5 more little panels.
Which is on this coming weeks agenda...Also, finally finished getting the photo's into the album, so that was pretty cool.

The rains are suppose to come in the next couple of days, so I will be a happy gardener for that!
Yep, I agree...Your Picture's of Cookies Birds are fantastic...Still smiling how you got to see your first Woodpecker!

OMG!! Betty, Your cement planters are so Cool!

Sistah Jaye, guess who is doing the Happy Dance over here, I finally figured out that Scant 1/4 in sewing, woohooo!! and purely by accident. Sew, lol I guess I "scan" do it. How's my Big Bruddah doing? You tell him I said hi.

I am home supposedly working on bills, but decided geesh, enoughs enough, Gotta come say Hello! Well, i got 3 out 6 done, so i can take a break.

Oh Hey you all, Talked to Deborah the other day. She is doing good. Had a baby shower for DIL. Baby's due soon.
Baby has a problem with it's intestines, It's on the outside!! So as soon as born will have an operation to fix it...So we are praying that all goes well and baby will return to healthy...But Deborah and mom are taking it one day at a time.
(I didn't tell you before because i wasn't sure if I should tell her news.) But i was telling sistah, many of you have asked about her, and she said I can tell you all how she's been...So, continued prayers please.
Also, I know you will be equally proud, She is still Smoke free!!! Momma is still doing well, and they are working on finding her a small house and selling hers. They have been looking in Deborahs area, so momma will be nice and close.
And she will be Babysitting Riley...Still continues with her Butterflies, no Monarchs yet, until fall...
Lets see, Gardens are good, she is have a couple downsized.

OMG, Stacey, what cute little clothes you got! If you have Goodwill Stores near you, you can find really nice used clothing, for very reasonable prices....

Hey, Ric, yummmm, just love fresh BLT's!! you enjoy.

Good Golly, i sure get backed up...try and lurk around to keep up by time i can post, you all are way ahead of me.

So...I gotta get back to my invoices

Hey, Sunshine, Did you happen to find a cell charger?? Misplaced mine and for the life of me can't find it, last time i remember using it was at your house! Yikes, loose my head if it wasn't attached! Hows Bluejaye swimming? Did the stuff work on the goldfish?

Guess what else, the stone in my engagement ring fell out! OMG, talk about freaking out. Julia and i combed every inch of where I was and Thank Heavens she found it in the couch!!
OK, will get back and re-read some the thread, hopefully later tonight!
Peace and Love and hopefully a few raindrops.

Until then, have a great rest of the day.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Gosh, lil injun...we have so many chargers around here...if I had an extra one, I wouldn't know it! Where did you have it plugged in at?

Good to hear the lil Georgia Peach is still doing good. Sad to hear about the baby's problem though, and will add to my prayer list.

I've been working in weeds and manure all day. It started to sprinkle, so that was my release. Just had my shower and now I'm having some "sistah time"!

Judy, good to hear from you. I knew you were busy, so I wasn't worried.

I've had a few cherry tomatoes from my garden, but no big ones yet. Probably cause they're not getting enough sun cause the weeds are too tall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, Bill's Dad and my folks are keeping me in maters for now. Bertie brought over 6 more ears of corn. She plants "Bodacious" and it is yellow and yummy. Not as sweet as my "How Sweet it is", but when it's the first of the year...it all tastes wonderful!

Need to check on some other threads...you all behave now!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Judy, glad to see youposting/ Glad you found your stone to your rting. You need to finish your posting from your trip!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey Judy!! Thanks for the update on my Georgia Peach!!! We all worry about her when she disappears...

My goodwill is horrible!! It is like everything in it is from 1972!!LOL I have been there a couple times to just browse around and it has been horrible both times:( I do have a couple of used baby stores close and they have been a godsend to get some stuff for the little guy:) I did read an article that said there are a couple things you should never buy used for the baby and boy am I glad I saw it. It said the cribs, strollers, pack n plays and highchairs shouldn't be bought used. If you get them used, you won't be able to register them for recall notices so the only way to know is to make sure you remember to look up recalls once a week and when you have a baby, you usually don't remember to do it frequently enough. Makes sense to me, but I have never thought about it before...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, there is a site you can go to, and give them your email. They will automatically send you all recall notices.
2nd link is for sign up.

Thank you Sue!! Yes, I'm excited and trying to not be :-p Or at least not show it.

Judy I'm sorry about Deborah's DIL baby! How scary for them, lots of thoughts and prayers are being sent.
Wow you have been busy!

I need to take a picture this evening, I cleaned out this weed mess yesterday morning, didn't take very long but as soon as the sun came over the trees it got really hot, really quick.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks LK, I appreciate it. The big problem though, is you buy the stuff used and you don't know exactly want it is-model# etc....no paperwork comes with it:(

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You are right about the second hand items for babies Tink. You can't be to safe.

Morning Sue, been reading everything and still so bummed out I didn't get the chance to met you and the twins. I will believer Jaye, if she says they are wonderful, then so be it!!!!

Judy, thanks for the update on Deborah. I think of her often and feel so bad I don't pick up the phone and call but then I am not the world's best telephone person. On it to much with festival stuff--may be ending sooner than we think too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, I still cannot understand why the USA won't give me dual citizenship..lol..just got back from Buffalo again..fun trip with a bunch of girls, most have young grand children so lots of shopping at Oshkosh, Carters and another baby store..sales galore..am sure they'll be the best dressed kids in town...

Called Cathy who looked after the furries for me, she said there was quite a storm last night and a lot of my gardens were flattened..wouldn't you know..oh well, I want to do some changes to them so maybe now will be the time, give them months to set their roots down before winter comes, I'll see when I get home..

Didn't purchase much, mostly went along for the fun, did manage to find some tools, one for Greg (xmas) and one for ME...did a run into Joann's and found some fabric..ooops telephone..press send

Victoria Harbour, ON

telephone rang, knew if I didn't press 'send' I'd have a post in cyberspace...

Got a lovely glass birdbath, anxious to unpack it...left Buffalo at 5am, had a Dr.'s appt. that had been changed from 11am to 9:00 a.m. - call came in Friday aft. so I was able to make it to work by 11:30..didn't have to, could have taken the entire day off but seeing as it was still early morning I thought why not, a place to put my feet up, relax, unwind, watch a movie..lol

Tonight I get to see how the other hypertufa containers turned out..will set them to dry as well..think if I bought some peat moss, I'd have enough of the other materials to make a couple more...might drop in to Canadian Tire and buy some...

Called home to see how the furries did over the weekend..they did fine, but, last night, heavy storm rolled in and Cathy says damage to my gardens...I'll check that out tonight when I get home..

Glad to hear you are all doing ok...

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL....that's it Betty...one for you and one for me....I like all purchases to be that way!

Okay, Betty, I've got the solution...I'll adopt you. Then you can have dual citizenship. Just call me Ma! :o) My daughter has dual citizenship. She was born in Germany. She doesn't choose to claim that though...if things get any worse in the states, she may change her mind! I always say I have an import and an export. Lisa was made here, born there. Mark was made there, born here...

Oh Judy...not sure if this is where you asked, but BlueJaye is doing fine. Swimming around with all the others strutting those gorgeous fins! My count on the baby fish was probably off....I think I've got about 30 babies...what in the world am I going to do with them? Bertie and I are going to the Miami Valley Water Garden Society meeting the last Wednesday of this month and joining it. Maybe I can con some people in to taking some...they have to do the fishing though!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shall I start the paper work now Joyce??? it's either one of you adopt me or I have to go husband shopping on your side of the border...second thought, it's adopt or nothing..lol

I'm sure the society is very informative Joyce, nice to meet with individuals who have same interests..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL--adopt Betty--all the good ones have been taken!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

It could be a new trend, 'adopt a grannie' could work you know..so many don't have grannies....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joyce could we have a dual adoption, she could call me daughter, or, well, she's not old enough and I'm too old for the other! LOL!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Don't be to sure Crissy!! My Mom was only 9 months older than my sister. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

you have me laughing..how are you today Marion? right now Jeff would love someone else to take me over as 'mom'..he's been on a kayak trip, ran into some major difficulties, quite frightening at one point..he puts his info on a 'blog' and yikes he used bad words..when he called last night I gave him the what for..I'm really sure he'll not call tonight..lol

Crissy enjoyed the photographs..thanks

Joyce, still playing with mixtures for hypertufa..first projects were done with portland cement/peat moss and pearlite..turned out brownish

2nd batch I tried was portland cmeent/peat moss and vermiculite and just a cup or 2 of pearlite..they have the grey look and are quite lightweight..like them better...won't go with big containers until I know the proper consistency of the mix...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now Joyce, no laughing...Cathy was at the house on Friday aft. when I got hime, she was just leaving when I said why not wait and do a project with me...I thought she put mixture on the bottom, she didn't know you needed mixture on the bottom...oh/oh

I'll mix another batch one night this week and try to see if it will work my patting it in the bottom..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my I'm laughing so hard at your postings.. sheesh.. I've forgotten what I'm going to write!!

Sistah Judy!! Giant armwraps sweet one!! Glad you've finally tackled that 1/4 inch! Please tell Julia, I can't find her on FB!!
And do tell Deborah that we'll be praying for her and the grandbaby.

Betty, you've mentioned how you've discovered some unsavory words from Jeff? Well.. my nieces and nephew do get a 'pageful' from me when they let their tongues slipped on FB!!! Don't think I'll win that most favorite aunt award!

Oops.. got to go.. waving hi to all here!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jaye, he and girlfriend certainly had the right to be angry..they are doing a 450 mile kayak trip, got into some pretty bad weather, 5-6' waves, high wind, stopped at a marina to ask if they could set up for the night as they very well could have perished taking the lake in the storm and at night..marina said 'no, we have a policy' imagine that..so he called me to come with his truck so he could transport kayaks and equipment to the next lock (different body of water) and where was I? had shuffled off to Buffalo for the weekend, call his brother, his brother was looking after a major event, no could go so finally Greg asked a friend Dan if he would do it for him and yes, he said he would..Jeff was grateful...

Actually he also made me proud, said he was helpful to a few people on his trip, said he had been raised well, then he went on to say he stopped and took time to take photo's of tourists all wanting to be in a photo rather than 1 taking photo's and I burst out laughing reading that part because I was at the falls again on Sunday night with a bunch of girls and took about a 1/2 hour asking this group/that group if they wanted to take photo's all together, so when Jeff says he's most like his mom, yikes, guess he is..would I use bad words, guess if someone made me upset like the marina guy I just might but I might not post it on facebook..lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

What is it they say? "Live long enough to be a problem for your children?" Plan on doing just that--Betty I can see has the same plan in mind. LOL

Then I instantly think of the next saying: "Be good to your children as they will select your nursing home!" Shucks!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

BETTY! You can't tell me not to laugh and then show me that! I'm sure she had fun though. The mixture that we used at that garden mtg. had sand in it. I tried using sand at home once and it didn't hold together well. But this one seems to be doing just fine. It's a very light gray.

When I was at Menards on Sat. I got a wire brush. I really like to brush the sides when they come out of the form, keeps it from looking so uniform.

Just got back from Plasma donation...think I'll go lay down a bit. We're meeting friends at PF Changs for dinner. I just took care of their dogs for a week, so they will probably pick up the tab! ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like you have a good day planned..must go look in my tools, am sure I have a wire brush...who knows maybe we designed a new trend piece, just have to figure out what to use it for..lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, I know what I'd use it for! I have some ornamental oregano... Kent's something. Anyway, it gets these really neat clumps on the end of the stems, but they don't stand up, just lay on the ground. I'd put that baby around the base of that plant and they'd stand up..at least more than they do now!

When you give plasma, it helps a lot of people. The donation center where I give allows you to give twice in a weeks time. The first donation is given $20.00. The second donation is given $30.00. Wish I had known about this years ago. Makes me feel so good to be helping, and to have some spending money!

The machine takes your blood, spins the plasma out of it and puts it in a vial. When the vial is full (probably 8 oz. or so) the machine shuts off and the blood is returned to your body. Then it starts over again. Goes for around 12 times until you've given the amount of plasma that your body weight allows. They don't take anything that your body needs. That's why you can donate so often. With blood, you can only donate every 8 weeks, cause you have to build your cells back up before you can give again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's quite something..maybe they do it here but I've never heard of someone getting paid to give it..now you've given me something to do, off to check if it's done here for general reference..

Victoria Harbour, ON

You can donate but no payment for such..only in some states it says...

You could almost make a full time job doing that couldn't you!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that would make a pretty candle holder? Place a pillar candle in the center of it?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, if all goes well, it gives you an extra $200 a month. I wouldn't think it would be a very well paid full time job, but it's only about an hour and 10 minutes at a time out of my schedule.

Victoria Harbour, ON

you are all so up with the needs of others medically..how wonderful..

Have to be a pretty big pillar LindaKay...no, I'll make a mixture and see if I can repair it for her..if not, I'll put it in the garden and plant something in the ground that will grow on the inside, all is not lost..was just too funny...
