Here's a close up of those roses...I was one who admired them . ^_^
Fall RU in Ma
nice shot
it is since the stem is about 4' tall and those are the only blooms
This is a BIG thing I've learned about roses... hack them back whenever you feel like it, to what ever height you want. Lesson over ^_^
Thanks for all the well-wishes, everyone. I am feeling a lot better now. I'm taking Claritin to control my allergies and will do the Flovent inhaler twice a day. I have one more day on the prednisone. I need to find some kind of homeopathic remedy that will help. I don't like being on all these meds with all the potential side effects.
Karen
I've never had any side effects from prednisone. Just remembering how to take it, can be complicated.
True, Weeze. Never had any ill effects from any pruning 'mistakes' with roses.
not in the fall though - they do nto have time to heal and at least here cause more die back.
Same here, Bill....I always prune in the early spring. Glad you are back to feeling better, Karen.....
Excellente advice venu209. I would add 'but wear big gauntlets or buy big bandaids'.
Has everyone gotten their new plants from Bill's RU in the ground yet? I was a slacker and just started getting things in today. I had to wait for Hank to help me clear out the line of invasive ditch lilies behind our stone wall so I could turn that area into a 3-season garden. Those 200-year old DLs were choking everything out and once they collapsed, the whole area would look terrible throughout the fall. I am cut up a bit and there's no doubt we'll have to keep battling these tubers for years to come, but I did get Celeste's DL in, Bill's purple phlox, the woods aster from JoAnn last year, some daffy bulbs and the big yellow mum that we left home by accident for the Raffle (had to stop and buy that replacement one that Bill took). Duh! There was a slight marital moment of pointing fingers both ways - for just a few seconds - but it resolved itself nicely once we happened upon a nice farm stand near Bill's. I then put Meredith's tall purple phlox in my Friendship Garden. ISharon's heuchera looks pretty in the new area at the end of the stone wall garden. I still have Celeste's blueberry and Sharon's astrantia to go, but I'm making progress. We are going to take the hardy mistflower from Meredith to Florida, as I noticed on Plant Files that it is a zone 10 plant too.
Where did the rest of you put your new babies????
I still don't feel good so am not going to push myelf to get them planted yet.
still not feeling well jen - that's too bad.
I think I have bronchitis
get better {{{{flowAjen}}}
thanks
aaaaaawwwwww feel better Jen
Bummer. Feel better.
Sorry, Jen! I'm saving my seeds until spring....just afraid to fall sow them especially when it's so dry....
Thanks, guys. I get winded real easy and forget about laughing, I start hacking up a lung. I'm sure you wanted that picture in your mind.
Here is a soothing happy song for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WElzyLtnNnU
Like this, Jen?
Sorry to hear you're feeling so yukky, Jen. Staying quiet makes good sense! Feel better soon!
Sorry to hear that Jen, feel better soon!
Isabella hasn't felt well and was running a slight temp and had a runny nose on tuesday when we stopped by. Unfortunately she stood at Brian's feet looking up with her arms up at him and said "Pepre, I Hold you?" He couldn't say No and now he's on the couch with a runny nose and feeling pretty yucky. I won't be holding him. LOL
I just got the call yesterday that my truck is done
I appreciate all the well wishes, If I still feel bad I'll be calling the dr on Monday.
Yay, Allison.
Awesome, Allison! I'm sure you are happy about that!
Jen - let's hope Monday finds you feeling much better, but if not, I'm glad you'll be calling the Dr. Thinking about you!
Louise
Celeste - please tell Brian I hope he feels better soon too. That's a familiar price we grammies and grampies pay, isn't it? But, oh so worth it! :)
Jen, sorry to hear you're feeling so bad. I hope you get better soon and that it's not bronchitis. That's no fun.
Karen
