Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends

Victoria Harbour, ON

Goes without saying Crissy, you'll both be in my thoughts andprayers....

Gillian, you heading down to my neck of the woods for your vacation? any news of where DH will be teaching this fall...bet you are anxious...glad you have been enjoying your gardens, you usually are here for a good month aren't you? Be different travelling with a baby this year, or will it, when you visited me your youngest was just starting to walk.... have a safe and enjoyable trip and if you are in my neck of the woods, please call...always up for company..

Susan, won't be much fun you tenting in the rain...know it's your vacation time but couldn't you put it off to our next long weekend? might not be good for your health issues...

It's almost 11, no news from the boss re our getting off early, girls usually find out abouth 11:30..would be nice leaving at 1:00 but still lucky to get off at 3:00...

Tried some hypertufa containers last Sunday, took them out of their mold last night, still holding together so for a first time try that's good...have portland cement and other materials, just short on perlite so will pick some up on my way home and get rid of the supplies before the portland turns into cement with all this humidity..

Then a few nurseries and hair cut at 4:00 so busy afternoon..rest of the weekend will be fun so am looking forward to that..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty & Mary....that is the STANGE thing, I don't have any cold symptoms or runny nose. The only thing I had was when I went to Florida...first of June, I had a allergy issue down there....and then ear trouble on the plane.

This week, I started feeling horrible with a headache.....but also like I was having morning sickness....nausea, dizzy...exhausted! Nothing else. So I was surprised when she said the thing with my ears and sinus. My "headache" is starting to break up, so hopefully that will help the entire situation.

However, as of 3:00....DH was is vacation....so, I will just hold my breath on the headache. Not sure what he and the kids have planned for this weekend, but I am NOT on board. They don't seem to care. I still don't like this turning 50 issue! LOL

Where is Tubby....did I miss his post? I don't like this when we don't hear from you.

Betty, I enjoyed those pictures very much. Jeff & his DGF are quite the adventurers. I think I would have claustrophobia (sp?) in a canoe!

Oh, and Shannon is in Canada.....heaven help me! She went with a group of girls....that all turned 19 in the last few months.....and went to a casino. My little snot won $196.00. Only cost her $5.00 to do it....and she got smart, cashed it in and they left!

Heaven help me though, tonight they are going to a "club" ...and she is in for a rude awakening. Wish I could be a fly on the wall.....thinks she is going to see "Chippendales" dancer...ummmm, no...not that kind but Mom doesn't know anything. lol

Waving to all....
Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, did you get all your running done?

Debbie so sorry to hear about you not feeling well, but if you have an inner ear infection, it will make you sick, and very dizzy.
Congrats on your daughter winning money! Very nice of her to be smart and walk away with i t too! Now about the dancers, well, she will find out what they are.

Tubby, sure hope your doing OK?

Have a great week-end everyone!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I saw my first "chippendale" dancers at 18 and to be honest I did not like it and have never been to another. It was a traveling group I saw at a local bar. None of them were super fit with muscles and a six pack and some were hairy. It just wasn't fun-more embarrassing then anything.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debbie that's what Betty had I think. It's a head cold that inflames the membranes inside your nose and gives you a headache, all of the snot comes later LOL!

Lyndonville, NY

OHHH Thanks Crissy....thanks for that too look forward too! ROFL Probably when I blow out the candles. LOL That will teach the brats!

Stacy, I think that is exactly what is going to happen to my daughter. These girls are recently turned 19...legal age in Canada....so they went there to "party". DD can't drink due to health issues...so she is designated driver.....BUT in for a very rude awakening. She has already texted that she wants to come home....she feels very out of place. You can take the girl out of the country....but ya can't take the country out of the girl! Just too busy for her.

You feeling ok in this heat?

We have a wedding tomorrow...praying I feel better, and it isn't too hot at the church.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening everyone,

Yes, got all my running around, Paul called and we left at 1:00 so I was ahead of the game...

By the time I got all my 'to do's' done and moved my haircut to 1 hr. earlier it still was 4:30 by the time I was home and ready to undertake a project...

When I got home at 2:30 Cathy was here, had my dishes from dishwasher put away, had some notes of who called, had done a few things in the yard and was resting on the couch..I laughed, when I came in the door I said 'I've come to visit with you Cathy'..Susan called and again I had to rush her off the telephone, I'm so sorry Susan but had to get back for hair appt....when I left Cathy said she was on her way home, told her to wait until I got back and I had the fixing for 4 or 5 more hypertufa containers...in this heat and with 'snot' yikes, not nice, running down from my nose, mostly because of the heat we managed to do more pots..hard thing is the waiting to make sure they turn out..1 week of no peeking..lol...

Been in contact with the girls, they want to pick me up at 6am for our weekend venture..so here I am, trying to get what should be done, done!

I did talk to Darlene today, we were talking computers and I explained that I had to take many of the programs Denny had installed off because they weren't compatible..she wasn't upset with that, she told me she had been shopping and picked up a memory stick with mega memory so I could download all the pictures I store...they'll drop in one night next week to do so when I'm home..

Hope you keep the homefires burning for me, probably won't be on until Monday, so not to worry...

Enjoy your weekend everyone..will try and drop in early tomorrow to check up on you all...

Hypertufa curing...
Debbie, that's exactly how I felt..the nausea I think was from sinus/ear infection and boy oh boy did I suffer from headaches..hard to be social when you are feeling so badly - understand where you are coming from, hard for you to go celebrating your birthday with the family Sunday when you are feeling sooo yukky...

Bet you wonder how I know it's Sunday (now watch you say it's not) but if I remember correctly your birthday is the same day as Roger's..he'd have turned 68 Sunday..

50 isn't so bad Debbie, it really is just a #..you'll do fine..you are a young 50 and those kids will continue to keep you young...hope it's good weather for the wedding!

Stacey, lol, that's quite a description of your experience with the chippendales...a sight to see!

Debbie, are the girls in Niagara Falls, Canada or did they come north to Rama? you could have sent them to my house for the weekend, 2 Casino's nearby, that way they'd have had a 'mommy' to keep them company..

Hello To All !

Debbie - That's similar...but I didn't have the runny but stuffy nose and wake up not able to breathe...and headache...I suppose from lack of oxygen during the night. Luckily the trip to chiropractor did wonders.

Chippendales! That's too funny... It's a 'rite of passage' I suppose... When I sold radio the huge local honky tonk was once my account and he insisted on booking those guys...although it was hard to get gals to go because everyone joked that it was the "Senior Citizen Chippendales" LOL! Must have been the same group Stacey went to !

Debbie - It's so good for me to read your posts. Teens are really tough and sometimes I feel a little guilty because it's so peaceful when they're not around. I keep telling myself ...that's why God made Babies Cute and Teenagers Ugly...so we'd take care of the babies, and throw the teens out of the nest. (Again a gardening reference !)

Girls went to Crazy Bio-mom for the weekend...DS is with girlfriend (like every evening now...I sure wish her Mom would tell her 'NO"!). But it is sure quiet and peaceful tonight!

Betty... LOL... "Honey.....I'm home!" (to Cathy)

Crissy - well my prayers with you....I suppose it's too early to know anything...

DH is talking about us heading to New Orleans tomorrow :)

I'll pop back on in a bit...

Hugs,
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I did remember it was Rogers birthday ...we talked about that on our trip. I just hope you have such a wonderful time this weekend....and remember the camera.

You know Mary, all four of my kids are fighting....and it is because of trying to cooperate over "my" birthday. It has just got them all at each others throats.....and I so hate celebrating. Have told them for years, just get me a gift card for barnes & Noble...and leave me be! LOL Oh no....can't be done. And now, none of them are talking! I would cry....but am laughing because the phone isn't ringing of the hook....and it is silent!

Betty, yes the girls are in Niagara Falls Canada....just where you cross the Rainbow Bridge I believe....Clifton Hills area. I think they were trying to "get away" from us Mother types! LoL Thank you for the offer though...they would have driven you crazy!

I napped...and when I woke up, the pressure on the left side of my "brain" felt better. Still working on the rest! lol I just hope the "snot" doesn't let loose before Monday....as you two have so kindly pointed out! ROFL

Mary, I keep waiting for it to get better...but it hasn't happened yet. And the oldest is 26! I think you have the hardest part.....with the shared parenting....and only one side is parenting, then you have to fix what she messes up!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL senior chippendales...lordy, that being the case tell me where to go????

Mary, you just had to tell me you were going to New Orleans didn't you??? ahhhh I want to go as well..you know it's my favorite place in the whole wide world...take a few photo's please...

Debbie, would have forgotten the camera had you not mentioned it..let them enjoy Niagara Falls, soon you'll come and visit with me..sure wish it would have been for the Elvis festival next weekend....because I know your ties with your mom and Elvis...

Waving to all..Tubby, drop in and gab with the girls, we're all worried about you...

Everyone else, enjoy your weekend...
I'll share photo's of my treasures when I return...lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am asking for prayers from my niece in Colorado. She was 26 weeks pregnant and had to have an emergency c-section last night. Her little girl was 12 inches, and weighed 1lb 9 oz. She had something called placental abruption. That is all I know. I don't know if there any problems with the baby or not. She is very fragile right now.
Thanks

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh geeze LK - my prayers are with your niece.......
what a scary thing to have happen ((((((((((LK, niece & family))))))))))
Please let us know how she's doing..................
The Lord will look after her.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Debbie-I just don't go outside much-anything over 75 right now makes me sick to my stomach and makes me swell to the size of a Macy's Thanksgiving day parade balloon!!

Mary-they weren't seniors, and they weren't ugly in the face, just from the neck down not anything I would want to pay to see....;)lol

Lyndonville, NY

ROFL, Stacy, that gave me a laugh....just nothing I wanted to pay to see! lol

I understand about the swelling and heat....I know it is hard, but drink water. I had toxemia /pre eclampsia really bad.....summer pregnancy like you....and trust me...drink water! I thought I was doing so good eating grapes and peaches, LOTS of fresh fruit....well, I kind of over did it. Apparently there was more sugar in a bunch of grapes than a candy bar! LOL Live and learn!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I drink water most of the day-I usually start the day with a glass of OJ, then drink water until dinner. Depending on what's on the menu I either have a glass of milk or a pop, then back to water....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I am so sorry to leave y'all hanging! I found out what's going on at my work last night, but stayed until 5:30 talking to my bosses and calming one of them down who feels terrible about having to lay off, you do what you got to do and this person was calling me every day, or IMing me every day, whining how she doesn't want to be at work and blah blah blah, then had to run to Hot Springs and meet Dave for dinner, so here's the verdict

My co-worker who I share jobs with but she's always whining about how she doesn't want to be at work and my boss has to almost, well not almost, does have to babysit her to get work done because she's too busy babysitting her husband and playing Sudoku, her last day is July 30th. If there are anymore budget cuts to be done Ms. Cheerful's last day will be Sept. 30, if we don't have to cut budget again she won't have to go. I move into my private office on August 1st, and will work in there unless there's no phone coverage.

Dave's interview went well, he feels, so hopefully they will be calling him!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have excellent news. I just talked to my brother, and he said so far the baby is fine, no lung problems, heart is fine.. She will stay in the hospital for at least 3 months, and they have a lot of test to do yet, but so far all is good! Praise God for another answered prayer!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi, Betty missing you to... Have been lurking here and there, but usually in a hurry...had the family here, so it was crazy, but i loved it...too quiet now. I get to get back to routine now....
actually starting new routine, getting up early every am, to go for a walk with # 3 son, who is working on losing some weight, and it wont hurt me to lose a couple pounds too.....so we get up and walk, I come home and shower, and will have some time for computer &/or sewing before having to go to work...changes affect me in weird ways :( so it will take a little bit to adjust, and then all will be good.....

I had/have an angle watching out for me, and paid my dg subscription ^_^ so now I get to carry on here with Y'all ^_^

LK, I weighed less than 2 pounds when I was born, and that was long ago, sure hope things go good for your niece, and the babe....

Susan, hope you don't get to much rain on your vacation...

only Chippendale I seen was a video, that my little sister brought over on a visit once, they were gorgeous!! but I don't like crowds, so I would not ever go to see them..my older sisters used to go once or twice a month, as we had a place not to far from us that had "ladies night", and those dancers were there every week... It was their girls night out...I never did those either.....I like to be home with my hubby and kids....always have....
hope every one not feeling well gets better soon....

I am gonna do a little bit of stitchin' before I have to get ready for work...Y'all have a great rest of the day...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - I answered about your Private Office in the other thread - it's only what you deserve!! ^_^

Good to hear about the interview going well for your DH.
Unfortunately I won't be here to hear the news - won't be back until Saturday, from the sounds of it. Supposed to rain more in Calgary (3x) than in Waterton, so I'm getting the better deal LOL I just need to find out if someone will look after the Movie Night at the church on Friday......

Lyndonville, NY

"This just in" The 19 year old girls...decided against going to the "club" with the dancers....and ended up going to a teen based club with line dancing....and then to Dave & Busters, which is basically a big arcade with a restuarant! In all honesty, I am proud of her (and them) for making that choice.

It has been a VERY long day. Wedding was beautiful....but NO AC at the church or reception....as expected! Was very nice though.

We came home "early" at 9:00.....left the dance floor to the younger crowd....as I wasn't getting up and dancing when it was so hot...and I felt like I was ready for the glue factory before I got there. lol

Crissy, saying prayers for Dave and the job. Sure sounds like lots of changes at work. I hope you finally get your office.

Going to read for awhile....

Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Have fun Susan!!!!!

I couldn't imagine a wedding without ac! ACK! Glad you made it, and hooray for your 19 year olds to make that decision!

I didn't do anything yesterday, well I did take a shower and what-not lol, we had thunderstorms off and on all day yesterday and it cooled things down some, but today's supposed to be back up toward 110 again. We're going to dinner tonight so I'll have to find some motivation somewhere today lol

Dave said that the building where him and his co-workers will be working isn't built yet, so it'll be a bit. We have that wedding to go to in Eureka Springs on the 7th, so we need to leave as early as possible on Friday, maybe he won't start his job until August 9th. LOL!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

got a "funny" for y'all...........

Hilarious!!!!! this is SO cute ..

There were two nuns..

One of them was known as Sister Mathematical (SM), and the other one was known as Sister Logical (SL) .

It is getting dark and they are still far away from the convent.

SM: Have you noticed that a man has been following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what he wants.

SL: It's logical. He wants to rape us.

SM: Oh, no! At this rate he will reach us in 15 minutes at the most! What can we do?

SL: The only logical thing to do of course is to walk faster.

SM: It's not working.

SL: Of course it's not working. The man did the only
logical thing. He started to walk faster, too.

SM: So, what shall we do? At this rate he will reach us in one minute.

SL: The only logical thing we can do is split. You go that way and I'll go this way. He cannot follow us both.

So the man decided to follow Sister Logical.

Sister Mathematical arrives at the convent and is worried about what has happened to Sister Logical.

Then Sister Logical arrives.

SM: Sister Logical! Thank God you are here! Tell me what happened!

SL: The only logical thing happened. The man couldn't follow us both, so he followed me

SM: Yes, yes! But what happened then?

SL: The only logical thing happened. I started to run as fast as I could and he started to run as fast as he could.

SM: And?

SL : The only logical thing happened. He reached me.

SM : Oh, dear! What did you do?

SL : The only logical thing to do. I lifted my dress up.

SM : Oh, Sister! What did the man do?

SL: The only logical thing to do. He pulled down his pants.

SM: Oh, no! What happened then?

SL : Isn't it logical, Sister? A nun with her dress up can run faster than a man with his pants down.

And for those of you who thought it would be dirty,

Say two Hail Marys!

Have a great day Y'all...I will be sewing...Christmas swap blocks, and I need to think up a house warming gift....HMMMMMM

Lyndonville, NY

OH my goodness, that gave me my morning laugh! Thank you!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm still chuckling!!! That was great. Thunder check out the fabric swap in sewing and quilting. I'll be posting pictures tomorrow.

Glenview, IL

Good morning Everyone!

Wow, excellent to have coffee and a fun thread to read.

Betty, Jeffs DGF sure is a pretty one. I hope their trip is wonderful. Will surely enjoy reading and watch their adventure.
OMG, don't you look adorable in that kyak. Yikes, glad you got your computer issue solved.
So glad you got to go for a nice boat ride, loved the views, but i will enjoy the Pententuary view from the lake, lol, I can't spell that.

Debbie, Aww poor baby, I am sorry you are sick, hope you get to feeling better soon, grrr just hate summer colds, they are worse then winter ones! I can just see you smiling away about the 19's decision, I love Dave and Buster's!! That is where we will be taking Julia and a few of her friends for her 21st birthday, in Dec. 21 legal age to drinking here. Hang in there, 50 is just a number, ya don't look that old and you certainly have a fun disposition so lol try not to think of it and Have a ball!!! ROFLOL, You'll be saying that same thing to me when it's my turn. I am having a harder time thinking my baby is going to be 21...OH, tell the kids to give you 50 cases of RC Cola thank you very much and you'll be set for life... When is your Big day??

Hi Mary, how are ya doing? Well, Breenie is still not working. They are waiting on the results of her drug screening! Monday morning she goes for her physical. But the lady in HR called to see how she is doing with everything and the physical is the last to take care of, so at least they are still interested in her.

Sigh, I have another new "daughter" 19 year old Jenny. She is Sabrina's bf. She has had a troubled back ground. Just graduated HS, and as soon as that happened her step dad gave her the boot!! Of course Our door was opened. She is a sweet kid, that just needs a place to start. Already right in the groove of our family. So she also got a Job at the Mango Juice bar. Walking distance.

Our "son-girl" Alissa, doing fantastic back at home. Still comes home here to visit. Her hours have been changed and she got a promotion to Lead! We are proud of her.

Jake's busier then busy. Football and wrestling camp. Running to the pool every other day or so and just hanging out with his buds.
His BF is now finished with summer school so he's back in touch, those two are a hoot together! Well, "Taco Boy" who is deathly afraid of our Skittles, found a baby bird similar and is now the proud Papa, lol...Screamed bloody murder for his mom to come quick with a basket, captured the lil thing and loves it to pieces....Jake had to teach them how to finger train the bird. OH, we call Richard Taco Boy because they eat taco everything, lol...Last night we went to his Coaches going away party, he has been called to do another Tour of Duty. This time for a year, so We'll keep him in our prayers along with the other soldiers, LOL, Jacob is already planning his first package, and Coach said he will be sure to pack his little swiss knife Jake sent him the last time.

Also, went to a graduation party yesterday. Took the Harley and the kids followed in the minivan. Was a nice ride, but whew very hot! The way home was alot nicer....Like you all, Hot and Humid! Speaking of which,

Waiving Hello Linda Kay, I am so glad to read that baby is doing well. Will continue prayers. OH my goodness, your rag quilt is fabulous!
I go visit my friend Diane on Wednesdays and we went to her Walmarts, They are remodeling and so their material was on sale for 70% off!! Oh my god, wishing i had known before I went, i could have gone nuts...Well, i sort of did anyway, lol...Got some fantastic Native american prints, 3 yards for 2.54 or somthing and the cutest pre-quilted panel then i noticed the guy was tossing remnants under the table, took a peak and found the most fantastic piece for 54 cents! Didn't even open it the other day but its about 3/8 of a yard!!

Planning on making my kids each a quilt for Christmas, and i have 2 babies coming so i will be busy, busy...Not sure i will be making one of the gifts, so I'll play that one by air...

Julia is also doing well, I think i told you She and Anthony both also got promotions, she isn't that crazy about it because it isn't as physical, lol she gained 5 lbs, not happy at all. But now, woohoo, They asked her to take the Supervisor test! Think that's happening on
Monday, If she passes they are promoting her again to Supervisor of her group. Her "Boy's" as she calls them love her to pieces, ROFLOL, love to tease her too, Last weeks they found a dead bird and put it on the conveyor belt, just so she'd be girlie and scream...Brats they are.

Crissy, Wow, glad you are staying and get your own office, way to go girl!! Waiting on pins and needles here to hear if Dave got the job.
Kind of hard getting anything done with everything crossed, lolol...Well, I am on hold with unemployment, guess i'll have to go to the office to see whats up, they said to keep verifying so I do, but man it's a big bummer. We are also currently un-insured, Cobra ran out so i am now filling out insurance forms...Was going to tell ya something else but it's slipped the mind. LOLOL, not so fun getting old, keep forget stupid little things, driving me bonkers in the process. And, iiick, if i don't stop all this sweating, I will melt to nothing! Lost almost 10 lbs since the Sistah gathering, my clothes are starting fall off, not good.

Barb, How are all your projects going?OMG, i am can't wait to finish, my next blocks! Got to tell i am rather proud of them, they Got one more to do, But woohoooo, Going to have to re-create this one with other fabirc! I love it it and heheh, i moved up to a different Block. it a mosaic! Already contemplating on the next block theme, ohhh, and guess what? Yours truley here, has finally figured out the Scant quarter sewing!!! LOLOL, purely by accident! whoop and hollar great joy! Oh, which remiinds me, LK, Saw your Log Cabin somewhere, Wow, it 's fantastic!

Gillean, Was wonderful to see your post, So glad you got to see and enjoy some blooms. Well, my goodness, hope you have a wonderful vacation.

Hmmm, who am i missing??? OH Thunder, how sweet, Glad to see you can still chat, with us on DG, someone sure loves you and i sure am loving that someone too! Was a great little story about the nuns, ahahha. So nice you had family for a visit, how is that little sweetie of your?

OMG, i am so excited!! Last weekend I received a call for an old lol and i mean old friends of mine from work!! Mils, and I were great friends, Wehn she retired, we kept in touch for a long time, then you know we both just got busy...Well, She tore her house apart looking for my number! Found it and called all excited because she just got a small garden spot in her community garden! LOL, doesn't know what to do so I popped into her her head, Going Monday to see what's up, just what I need yet another bed to weed, lolol, and i refrained from telling her about my Jungles!

Speaking of which, i can now add yet another species to my wild kingdom! Spotted a pair of ground hogs!! Holy smoke they are big!
They ran across the pool bed and back, the big one was chasing the little one. Awww, and I have hummingbirds that come and sit on the wire just off the deck, everyday at 5:30!

Yoohooo, Stacey, How ya doing? I hope staying as cool as ya can in this heat. Got your note last week? Glad your set! LOL, I think about you every Sunday while watching Drop Dead Diva, ohh mann, can't wait to see the next show.

Betty, you got me in big trouble!! LOL, Julia and I must have the same taste in books because, we have fueded over which one we want to read...lol, But i won because I read non stop, so i finish faster, lol and she said we can't read the same book at the same time, well pooo, good thing we took both bags! Already read two, and How exciting one of the Blossom Street series was in there!! One we haven't read so how cool was that! Geesh, we were wondering if you have read any of these books, they are in brand new condition!!
Hahaha, when i brought them in DH, said OH NOOOO!!!

Hi Tubby, Bev...Hope you two are doing well...Tubby, you going to give Betty a new Word?

Well, I have to run now and it afternoon, lol..Busy day today, got 6 invoices to do and i thing a couple of proposals!
OH, Betty...Steve landed a Massive, job in the John Hancock!!! Complete remodel of entire unit! They came to him directly about the job...it's on the 86th floor!

OK, really now got to get to work! See you again soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Happy Birthday Debbie!

Judy, all wal marts are getting rid of the fabric department!

Lyndonville, NY

Thank you for the birthday wishes.....Judy it is today.

I had the shock of my life....the "younger" kids gave me a Nook for a gift. It is like a Kendel reader.....from Amazon. I can change the font and read so much better!

Judy, you and I have so much in common. We have so many kids, open door policy pretty much for those in need. Brittany, shannons BFF had a big run in with parents.....and needed a place. She moved in here for two months. We didn't know it at the time....until right before she went back home, that she was pregnant. SO, her baby is due in October. And, we also have Shannons BF Mike here....Mom trouble. So, it is never quiet. They have to abide by house rules and help out....sometimes its trying. But usually more rewarding than not.

Where is Betty? Thinking of you as you also celebrate Rogers birthday with wonderful memories....he sure sounds like a wonderful man, wish we all could have known him.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty posted that she is going on a last minute week-end trip with the girls.

Glenview, IL

Well, Now i am sing Happy Birthday to you!!
OMG, what an excellent gift, your kids are great...

Linda Kay, I thought all the Walmarts did away with their Fabrics along time ago, so it was a grand surprise.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Most of them have. There are a few that may have it, but they will close it out soon!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Linda Kay - My prayers to your niece! Sounds like they have done amazing things to take care of her baby !

Hey Judy ! Well it sounds like Breenie got what I would call a REAL job... that's something that can take her far... DS starts at Smoothie King tomorrow... not something for a lifetime but I'm praying he does very well since it would reflect poorly on me I feel if he doesn't. (He got the job because I know the owner). That's wonderful that you are helping out the young friends... Some have such bad situations. I don't understand sometimes why my OWN don't see how good they have it...

Debbie - THAT"S a WONDERFUL present! So much better than Barnes & Noble :) VERY well thought out ! I'm proud of your teens for thinking of it !

Barefoot: "Hail Mary Hail Mary" :) LOL!

Crissy - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Sounds like a promotion to me! Are you hoping for just ONE teeny tiny "cut" ? (ref: Ms Cheerful).

Well Betty!?!? WE DID go to New Orleans yesterday.... What a wild and crazy trip! Headed to the Outlet Mall on the way...left and drove to French Quarter...then started Calling and Dropping by hotels .... and "NO room at the Inn !" LOL (My name is Mary, and DH's middle is Joseph).

Oddly enough...it was due to MASSES of Christian Youth Groups who volunteer and apparently go to New Orleans this time every year as a reward... (Seemed VERY ironic to DH and I). I'm going to have to google this event... just seems such a strange place to send the youngsters... well - we finally got a room but I'll never stay there again LOL

I'm gonna try to get pics downloaded...later this week (new computer I'm on...not sure how) and then give you the highlights... but it was fun !

Hugs to all,
Mary

Debbie-Happy late Bday!! So cook you got the Nook. Both it and the Kindle are wonderful things!! Both My mom and MIL want one. Not sure if I would like it since the smell and texture of a book adds to the reading pleasure for me...I hope you enjoy it and the thought that your kids obviously put into it:)

Mary-sounds like you had fun!! I agree it is a little weird that the group went there. In researching the area for something last year, I did find out there is some cool stuff like the zoo that maybe the kids might have liked.

Thunder-thanks for the laugh:)

Judy-OMG-lost 10lbs-you were barely a whisp of a thing B4-you are gonna blow away the next time you get a good wind going at your house!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Judy it might be a bit to see if Dave got his job, I really believe he did, but the building he's going to be working in isn't built yet. I'm hoping since we have a wedding to go to in Eureka Springs on August 7th, we need to leave early on the 6th as we have a cabin rented up there and the office closes at 7pm, we live 3 hours away, his start date isn't until August 9th. It would just be easier.
Judy eat some Italian Food girl, lots of pasta and cheese and bread mmmmmmmmmm
Congrats to Julia!!! That's awesome!!!! Awesome for Steve too!!!!!!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DEBBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ooooh where do I start, just read all the posts, talk about excitement going on...hmmm here goes..

Crissy, am glad that Dave did well at his interview...have to go further back into the threads to find out if Dave actually got the job and if you get to stay on..hear that your are getting an office so can only assume you are! anxious to hear..

Debbie, belated birthday to you, did sing 'Happy Birthday to Debbie' yesterday morning, where? not far from you, at the Cracker Barrel in Depew, had I thought I'd end up that close would have brought your tel.# to sing it in person..sang for you and prayers for Roger...

You and Dh are such dears to help those young ones in need...you'll be repaid twofold I'm sure..Lord looks after those who look after HIS...open door concept, someone needs a place then your place is their place right? feel much the same...ooooh do you know I was at Walmart looking at one of the computer books as well, not sure of the name..they wanted $169.99 and I almost bought one then wondered how much they go for here and thought maybe I would wait until I venture across the border again, probably not that far away in the distant future...mom wants to go badly..

Debbie, you've reason to be proud of those girls, sounds as though even though they went bar-hopping on my side of the border they kept their good judgement..how wonderful..do you think we'd have done the same? lol How's Paul doing?

Sounds as though everyone is looking for bargoons at fabric stores..glad Judy/LindaKay that you found some...was at Joann's and bought 5 - 1/2 yards, with the yardage I bought last week I should have enough to complete the Christmas Quilt blocks..

Judy, 10lbs, lordy girl you are going to fade away into nothing...your new finds re native fabric sounds nice, you'll have to post a photo so I can see..what design will you use for the blocks? kids will love getting a blanket done by you..something to be cherished..

Mary, sounds as though you had the same type of hotel that the girls and I had this past weekend..with it being last minute, nobody figured with all the hotels/motels/inns that it would be difficult to find lodging but it was...

Debbie we stayed on Grand Island at the Red Carpet Inn, one of the girls said she needed a bath to wash her feet after a hard day of shopping she felt they were dirty, I told her why bother, walking back to the bed they'd be just as dirty..sooo we now renamed this inn as the Dirty Carpet Inn..lol...it was a place to shop though..yikes, with paying $1.00 toll every time we got on the Island it amounted to a bundle...

Mary/Mary, I so wanted to be on Bourbon St. with you...tell me, is any of the older part still left or was it all damaged and now rebuilt...sounds as though you made the best of the weekend...tell you, one of these days you and I will do Bourbon St....dance up a storm..lol

Thunder, coughed up my pop, all over my desk and telephone, now I need to do a major clean up, sticky/sticky...

Checked through posts, can't seem to find one from Tubby in some time..Tubby if you are out there, we need to hear from you..

Best I press 'send' then continue chatting

Barb, were you able to find the dissolving thread for me? hit a couple of fabric shops but no go..said they had it years ago but haven't had it for several years..guess I might have to go web surfing and see if I can order some...

Barb, Ann and Mike left on a trip for a few days, going to do Agua Canyon train ride and take the ferry to one of the USA islands that abutt the area..will be nice for them to go and enjoy...Cathy who was looking after my animals got the card you sent and brought it over to her...thank you once again...

Crissy, took the girls to see the Falls, same place we were at..they totally enjoyed...did 2 -12 hr. days of shopping, ask me if I'm tired of shopping..you just got to know the answer...got back early this a.m. as I had a early appt. at the Doctors' and managed to do it in the city and still get back for work by 11:30..

Heard that Jeff had been looking for me, he and Julie ran into trouble on their voyage..(know he must have been very angry with a marina because when he posted his episode he did some 4 letter words, not like him at all...I'd have used the same as well..) was looking for me to go bring them the truck to transport from one body of water to another..I was away, remember telling him that but he must have forgotten, Greg had to be at a retirement party and couldn't leave so had to find his friend Dan to come get Jeff's truck, drive it to thelock, transport him the another lock then bring the truck home, thank goodness for friends..am hoping today is a better day..

Hey Betty, glad to hear your back home. Hope you had a good time?
We have not seen Tubby post in a few days! Sure hope is is doing OK. Maybe he had to go on another road trip?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad to be home, this travelling/shopping for days on end with the younger ones certainly tires me out..lol..do like some of the goodies though I got..some for garden, some tools, xmas present and christmas fabric...

Maybe Tubby is on another roadtrip, let's hope so, usually we see him post a few lines or Shirley gives us an update...will keep watching for him...

Bev, I'm waiving to both you and Scotty...how's the flooding in the gardens?

ohhh not good Bev..is this your stormy season..looking outside here as well you can feel a storm brewing, winds are coming up..yikes, have to be around incase Jeff needs me, not a great start to their Kayak adventures..can't be lucky every year..he says last year he only had about 4 hrs. total of rain..got spoilt! think he's worrying more this year because he brought a girlfriend along...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I wish I had known you were over here...I would have insisted Cracker Barrell for breakfast or dinner!

Had a wonderful birthday. The "Nook" reader is at Barnes and Noble, I believe the price is $150. The "higher end" one, you have to buy an AT&T service with it...so the kids thankfully knew better. This so helps me see much better with my vision issues. I literally broke down crying when I opened it....this was my big "birthday wish".

I had another surprise gift from the older crew and Paul. A new camera. I had dropped my...falling down the stairs...a few months ago. And my focus and some other issues were really bad. Would cost quite a bit to fix it. SO, I am now learning new camera also.

Now Betty....you know how I am with flamingos...I strongly dislike them. My kids know this....and my house is "quite littered" with the darn things! lol

Take a look at my birthday cake....made with love from Carrie & Paul!

Speaking of Paul...his pre-op is July 29....surgery is Aug. 19.

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. I have to get off the computer for a bit....storm moving in here also. Said supposed to rain off and on til Weds. afternoon.
