I'm first!!!! I'm first!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That you are...see you are having a little time to play with photo's Crissy...I'm going to copy some of them..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't have time but I'm doing it anyway, my eyes hurt from looking at spreadsheets for too long. Just taking a break for a bit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, no flooding here, it is about 8 miles from us. We are up on higher ground.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thank goodness you are higher ground LK-was worried when they actually had Del Rio on the map about the flooding on the weather channel last night.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, glad you're not flooded LK, you went from having no rain to having way too much rain in about 2 days!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Flooding is such a worry I'm sure for low laying areas...how are you doing today Stacey, feeling this heat I'm sure.. count down is on, 4 minutes to go...not even finished today and I'm hoping tomorrow is one of those days Paul says close at 1:00pm..guess it's 1st week back from holidays that is making the days sooo long.. that will teach me to take holidays..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you finding the week long as well Crissy?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

This day has been ridiculously long, and I have over an hour to go! I've tried and tried to continue looking at that spreadsheet and I'm just burnt on it. I should move on to something better but you know...

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Betty - You are right ! This gardening thing has bit me like a bug! Funny - I'm the one who will spend $$ on a plant ....not knowing if it will work or not.... and yet if one is sick...and DH wants to chunk it... I'll tell him "NO!"...."Are ya gonna do that to ME when I'm on my 'last leg'?" We finally got rid of 2 of the Hibiscus ...they were dead dead....and replaced them.

LK - hope you just get enough rain... those agapanthus shouldn't mind the rain...how crazy that your area is so dry one minute then way too much water the next....

we've had rain all week....which has been nice... I don't have to feel I need to come home and water water water.... But now the weeds are getting out of hand.

There are 3 things I do to relax: 1) take a bath 2) Pull weeds. 3) water the backyard.

FUNNY!

Hugs,
Mary

PS: Judy ?

Morning,

LindaKay your rain has arrived, just had coffee out on back deck enjoying the sounds of it, not overly heavy, didn't get the evening storm...yikes, can actually watch the garden plants/shrubs lift their heads to catch each drop..

Didn't do much last night, my little earthly angel Cathy had cut all my grass once again..I planted what I had purchased yesterday, because of that I had to move a few plants but imagine with this rain they'll still survive...edged part of another bed and called it a night..

Headache seems to have eased although I keep feeling like there is something over my left eye, maybe just the pressure ..

Wish I knew if Paul was letting us off early today, he usually keeps it a surprise until close to 1:00 , I would have made an appt. for haircut and perm, the other I had 5 weeks ago just didn't take..someone told me as you get older they don't???? hm sounds odd...

Do know that on my way home I have to go to Fabricland, which is like your Joann's..June told me they are slated to close up business in September, what a shame, that leaves Midland area without .. June said there is a petition going on, doubtful it will make a difference but I will go sign just incase..what a pickle we who sew will be in..means off to the big cities..don't like that...

Well, another coffee, feed the furries and off I go, might leave early and drop into Walmart .. I've bought 3 different bottles of fingernail polish remover and they don't work, need to trying a better brand I would think..either that or I've come across one heck of a bottle of nail polish..lol

Gab later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I buy the big bottle of acetone. I quit buying fingernail polish remover a long time ago. Just straigh acetone works wonders.
Glad you got someof the rain. I like sitting on the porch listening to it also! So relaxing.
Sorry to hear you may be losing your fabricland. If I need fabric, I have to drive at least 70 miles, if they don't have it then I drive into San Antonio, which is 160. If I have t ime, I order it online at either http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi or at http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/index.cfm
Both places have nice prices, and very fast shipping!
Mary how you doing today? I hate it too when hubby decides to help in the garden, which isn't that often, but he just starts pulling things. He cuts the grass, I do my gardens!
Hey Tubby are you all getting lots of rain? I saw where Oklahome is getting flooding also! Really wierd weather this year!
Betty, I do hope you get out early to get your hair done.
It is Friday! ^_^

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning Betty, I say if that polish doesn't chip, you should invest stock in the company - heehee!! That's a shame about Fabricland. I felt the same way when we lost our JoAnnes. But now I have two quilt shops within 7 miles so I can't complain and two JoAnnes within 25 miles.
Today is the day I get my hearing tested. My family is SO tired of me asking "What did you say?" so I'm off to see about hearing aids.
I'm also dropping off my sewing machine for a check up. It's running well but it's been three years since I bought it so a good cleaning and check is in order. I want to keep it running well as I sure do a lot with it. The quilt room is coming along. I'm waiting now for my SIL to come to help move my cutting counter. A few years ago we bought a kitchen sink base cabinet unit and put a piece of melamine (1/2"thick) on the top. It makes for great storage, my large cutting mat fits on it and my small ironing pad does too. Norm attaches a pegboard to the wall above it and I hang all my rulers, scissors, rotary cutters, etc. They are handy but out of the way. Off to the shower and then the big city...Maybe we will be gone long enough for lunch out!
PS I'm putting another card for Ann in the mail.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Morning!!! Thanks for the links LK:)

Morning Mary, Betty and Barb!!

Well, we had an interesting day and night here. First we had an OB appt yesterday. Everything went well and she said the ultrasound looked good. She said that he was 1lb 4oz as of the ultrasound 2 weeks ago. She will be scheduling another one that will pretty much just check the blood flow through the umbilical cord to the baby and placenta due to the high BP. THen we went to see Eclipse and went to a maternity store in the mall. I got a belly band, some undies and a couple Tshirts. They were outta shorts in my size which was the whole reason we went, so now I have to get on their site and pay the shipping:(

Then last night we had storms and lost power in the middle of the night. Needless to say I did not sleep well because of the heat and humidity, will probably take a long nap today. We are supposed to get more rain today and it should be mid 80's w/ 90% humidity, so will feel almost 100-yuk-staying inside for sure.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Inside is the place to be Stacey. Glad to hear things are progressing well. Have you been having fun with your new baby things??

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Linda Kay

Yes we've had plenty of the rain...
But not to bad here..

Tubby

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL-yes Bard-we have been having fun. Most of it is in the living room since DH doesn't want to take it upstairs til he paints-when that will be is anyone's guess.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looking at the clock this morning, one would almost think the batteries have been taken out..lol..

I wrote a 2 page post, well it seemed like 2 pages, someone called to check something and ooops lost it..

Started out saying LindaKay, thanks for the rain, falling lightly, gardens sure will enjoy the drink..as for Fabricland, I'm just so used to thinking I need one or 2 things and off I go..1/2 hr. later I'm back home..will teach me to organize my 'need' list better and purchase when I'm in Barrie or Joann's..you know, I just might have to make more trips across the border won't I??? better start saving my pennies, because they'll be selling off all their supplies for next to nothing in the upcoming months..

Barb, sure hope you get good results re your hearing...as for Ann, Barb, I didn't call last night, feel like a coward! Was going to call this morning but know Mike won't be out fishing due to rain and Ann would have difficulties speaking when he's around, he's going through the phaze that he doesn't want to think about it let alone have Ann on the phone relaying the latest Dr.'s findings. As soon as I find out I will let you know..you are special in her eyes...often speaks of your kindness...

Tubby, the rain will be good for your crops right? some have been planted? am sure if not you have a lot of local markets you can get some goodies from.. have you recovered from your last trip?

Stacey, now that they are telling you baby's weight, brings having a real live individual in your tummy a reality doesn't it...hope the rain lessens the humidity, must be terrible to deal with the heat while being pregnant..

Yikes, so many things have been going on over the past evening, but, before I get to that must tell you Crissy a little point of interest that I heard on the news this morning...

That young 7 year old that went over Niagara Falls is celebrating the 50th anniversary today of doing so..the family had just moved to Niagara Falls a month or so before, neighbors child 18 and his sister 17 were going out in a small boat, asked if the youngster could go, mom said yes, but he had to wear a lifejacket...they were enjoying a fun day when they went past a bridge that all the local KNOW is the danger point, guess the 18 year old lad knew the end was near, he kept paddling/paddling, only 1 more jacket remained in the boat, the 18 year old told the girl to put it on knowing full well he would drown...in the end the 7 year old went over the falls and the Maid of the Mist was able to pick him up, his sister was saved by fisherman, they retrieve the body of the young man (hero I would say) 3 days later.... the young boy Roger spoke and said he had no feeling of the actual fall as the falls, the mist was so strong that you couldn't relate..just thought it was interesting Crissy because you and I were talking about it just the other day after visiting the falls...

then, I called Cathy as I do every Thursday night to thank her for cutting all my grass, takes several hours and am sure in the heat of the day it wasn't an easy task...she said that after cutting the grass, she, her mom and her young nieve of 12 went off to Midland, Cathy doesn't drive but her mom does...guess the young girl asked for a drink, Cathy's mom for a split second put her head down to look for the bottle of water..bang..into another car..because the police dept. was so busy and nobody hurt, except the vehicles of course, mega damage to Rita's car..911 asked them to make their way to the police station...police told Rita that they could charge her for careless but because both parties were talking, arrangements made for insurance that he wouldn't charge her..sigh of relief for her ...

then I spoke with June, June's daughter Linda has been having difficulties with her 23 year old..he came to visit and I guess from the neighbors point of view, a little too angry and loud so the neighbor called in the police...the town they live in is Alliston, about 3/4 of an hour away from my area..anyway, police arrived, got both the young lad outside and Linda the mom, would say she's about 43..the 2 police officers grabbed the young boy, handcuffed him, all the while Linda was saying it was simply a screeming match, an officer grabbed her, threw her to the ground, the young lad tried to come to protect the mom, she tried to get up and both the officers beat her, kicking and stomping, she's badly beaten..unbeknown to the officer, the neighbor has it all on camera..the 2 officers are under suspension and a date to a hearing has been scheduled...apparently another young lad has similar complaint on these 2 officers as well..omg...not good...

So that's my bit of gossip for the day..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tubby, you are the birdhouse man, thought you might be interested to see the birdhouse creation I want to start this weekend...usually each year I add another to my group, have been eyeing this one for some time...dropping into TmBrrMart on my way home, need some wood..if I run into trouble know I'll ask for some guidance...

My mom was out driving when the rain started, they were in a flash flood warning but it caught her by surprise. She said she was driving up her road and it was raining so hard almost washed her new Escape down into the ditch, and her road is elevated above the rest of the ground! Wonder if she thought to put the thing in 4 wheel drive. LOL

LOL Stacey, men are so funny, right Tubby? LOL

I've got tons to do today so I probably won't be on much, so see ya'll later!

Victoria Harbour, ON

wow Crissy, yes, 4 wheel drive might have been better..when it's raining I put that drive gear enhancer on and it sure helps

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that is interesting! WOW quite the story!

Oh no, great that Rita isn't going to be charged, but the situation sucks.

That's not good for the officers, you can't just start beating people like that. My dad's girlfriends car was backed into yesterday and everyone in her office says that's the work of so-in-so and he'll never admit to it. I told her that's a hit and run, she said she called the police and they said it's not a hit and run. I told her it absolutely is a hit and run and to complain about the idiot officer saying it's not and get another report done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Dave was on the phone with his dad last night and said, "Dad, I'd rather buy you a $1,500.00 car instead of a $900.00 car." I about hit the ceiling and I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with this, the man has completely lost his mind.

I think it's so cool that your car is All Wheel Drive like mine! I would have never thought, wonder if they sell the All Wheel Drive version down here????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure, but it sure comes in handy in a blizzard...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We don't get blizzards very often at all, but we do get snow and ice and all. HHmmmmmmm something to check on.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that is alot going on out by you! Gosh. And all the accidents, and bad cops. Not good for sure! No one got hurt when the two cars hit did they?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

LindaKay, Cathy said all were more upset than hurt..of course Cathy said she called her dad (oh/oh lots of words there - more because of the worry) then she had to call her sister in the city (had grandaughter visiting) good Lord was looking after them..

I am still here Tubby, just in and out cooking dinner.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm back too Tubby. I had to have a hearing exam today and found out I really need hearing aids. Boy are they expensive!!! Now when I go to bed it will be take off the glasses (see no evil) take out the hearing aids (hear no evil) and take out the teeth (speak no evil) I'll give new meaning to Eleanor Rigby////////
Glad to see you posting and feeling better. I'll need to go looking for some jokes for you.. Have a great night.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OOOH Crissy, wish him luck, will include him in my prayers!  Made it back with what I need to keep me busy, had a carload..got my wood for the birdhouses, then material for Christmas blocks, then the portland cement to go along with my other supplies for hypertufa...you just got to love it when a plan comes together don't you...Barb, any results????All the girls in Fabricland were quite upset today..started Friday sale with everything 30% off..said next Friday it will be 40% off all items and then 2 weeks later 50% then 80% then all must go...from what I got from them, it wasn't the owners of Fabricland that is making them close, it's the mall itself, says they are dividing up the large area they are in and making it into 15 more boutiques..I'd say they are trying to get more $$$ per sq. ft.  All those ladies now looking for employment..really sad...I bought 40 embroidery threads though for a good price...if there are more next week when I'm in I'll pick up another batch..don't use them often but when I do if you don't have proper colors it's expensive...Had stopped raining but looks as though it will start again..might as well get it over with..I brought chinese food home so I'm taken care of for the evening..might just have a bath, sit and mark the dimensions on the wood, no dimensions in the book so I'll be faking it..any advise 'Tubby?' then have an early night and be all gung ho for tomorrow...

Yikes just as I was typing this 1 hr. ago Bernice came over..sat and gabbed, took out all the projects I 've been working on of late, showed her all the quilt blocks I received, did the walk in the garden and it's now 7:30...she went home happy, I had made a beautiful black/maroon quilted sweater a few years back, much too large for me, fit her to a 't' so to her place it went...

Now it's chinese time..yummy/yummy

I'm here Tubby, often alone as well so don't post..if I know you are looking for company I'll be chatting away to you...

Tubby have my wood, if you look at the photo of the birdhouses up above I guess my next step would be to determine the biggest one's dimention and then downsize for the other 2, what do you think..knowing what I usually do is go big..after all, not going to be houses to live in, want birdies...must go find the size of hole I need to attract which birds..know I have it somewhere..most likely will be for show but maybe a birdie would love to live here as well..any thoughts? I've seen your birdhouses and boy, wish you lived closer so you could guide me as to what I should be doing!

I'll check for a joke, must give you a chuckle...

Will eat first though...

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

I can't tell from photo...

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll have to take another photo 'tubby'...just sat on the couch, fell asleep, Jeff my youngest just called to gab about his 'kayak' trip, he was yawning, I was yawning, said my excuse was being old, he said his excuse was staying up all night! ahhh to be young...or nearly young...

Off to take a photo

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not so sure 'tubby' that this photo is any better...lordy, need a new camera, perhaps though it's because the photo I'm taking is glossy...
