Gypsies bringing in the harvest

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Those hen and chick flowers are cool. I have some balloon flowers the rain done that to.
I agree it looks pink. Maybe it will be pink and white.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Anyone know what kind of butterfly this is?
It sure liked the flowers.

A pretty one. LOL

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

How is Kirstie doing? Bet she is growing.
I seen on the news tonight where a lady here had twins that were 10lbs each.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

I would be glad if it was pink and white or just a light pink would work to. I have 2 of the other pink ones blossoming. Could it be shell pink? I know the person that I got them from had a shell pink and a hot pink.

Black Raspberries and Currents. I'll figure out something to make with them.

Kirstie grew an inch already and is back to her birth weight. I was surprised she lost so much as my son only was only 3 ounces under the weight he was born at when he came home from the hospital.
I haven't seen her a whole lot. Other grandmother is still there and I took vacation and am at BF's as much as I can be.

Mulberries, the size I like them ^_^

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Those look nice and juicey.
I don't even know what the heck a current is. LOL unless its the one in the river.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Don't feel bad JJ. BF has the growing here and he had no idea what they were until I told him.
When I first came up here he was showing me around his acre of land and pointing out different things to me. He pointed to the current bush and said "and I don't know what that is." LOL
I told him it was a current bush. My mom had them so I know them as soon as I see them. She use to make Current and Raspberry Jelly. Currents are more of a sour berry, thats why they should go good with the black raspberries. Black Raspberries are sweeter.
And I have found a number of bushes around his land now. Bird are real good at planting them too.

I'll probably do some muffins or something with them mixed together.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, all your flowers and fruits are wonderfu!!!!!

Have you ever seen a bumble bee sleeping inside your hollyhock? I know I saw them sleeping in one of the funnel type flowers (can't remember which one it was) and even on the yellow celosia. I guess it is a hard job being a bumble bee!!!!

Delhi, LA

They do have a hard life since aerodynamically it is impossible for them to fly.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well color me stupid! I thought a current was like a fig or prune. Kassy I have had hens and chicks over the years but never got a bloom, didn't know they had one. Cool. Glad Kirstin is back to birth weight, bet you can't wait to see her. JJ hows our little Ava? Jim don't think that is a peace Lilly, unless they have different versions, the bloom does look like one, but the leaves look rubbery and thick maybe like a Arrow Head Plant. I'll post on ID forem and see what results I get. Yummmmmmmm love fresh green beans cooked with new potatoes JJ.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I have only seen dried currants in a box at the grocery or in fruit cake or other baked things. Then they were dark like raisins. Didn't know they were red when fresh.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

All this good food is making me hungry!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

FYI, that plant I posted is a Spotted Calla Lily, proper name is Zantedeschia albomaculata.

Delhi, LA

My soul, flowers, I can't even pronounce that much less spell it.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

LOL me neither Jim, who comes up with these names anyway? Somebody a lot smarter than me thats for sure. Think they are derived from the Latin version or something like that :-)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Flowers, wow! What a name for your lily!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Oh, I wish I could find my picture of my current bush. I remember putting it in long time ago and Dave said "looks like breakfast to me".
The berries are round and very red on the bush when they are ripe. A clump of them will hang on a little stem. We have so many at my boyfriends place that I go around and pick them for the chickens from time to time. They love them. I'll try to get a picture of them when I go back up there if the birds didn't get them all by then.
Maybe I should send BF out to try to take a picture of then with his camera.....hmmmmm.
He needs to learn how to use it. LOL

Flowers, don't feel bad. My mom had a number of hens and chicks. And she had TWO green thumbs. And none of her's ever bloomed either. She could get her Cactus to bloom year after year, but the hen and chicks never did.
This has to be a different variety then what she had, because this is the second year in a row that it has bloomed, and I wouldn't be surprized if it does again next year.

I'm back home and back to work, so time for bed. I'll try to download some of the pictures that I have on my camera tomorrow.

UGGHHH, Flowers, I should have guessed that that could have been a calla lily. I have enough of them! I guess the fact that the blossom was laying down kind of threw me off. Mine are all standing up. I'll try to get the picture of my 3 big pots of them downloaded tomorrow

Haaaa, found this.
This is close to what they would look like if we could keep the birds away from them. My mom use to put a net over them to keep the birds out when she wanted to use the for Current and Raspberry Jelly.
This is a very nice bunch, or number of stands of them hanging together. ^_^

Pretty pictures Kassy & Lynnie!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lynnie, pretty daylily!

Kassy, I had no idea that raw currents were so beautiful when they were growing! I am glad you took a photo for us.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

ummmm, that wasn't my picture Venice.
But if the birds don't get to them all by then next time I'm there, I'll try to get a picture of some of ours. We have a number of bushes coming up all around the yard thanks to the birds ^_^

I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.

Delhi, LA

I don't have any currents or mulberries but I did pick four gallons of figs off our tree.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

I don't think the figs would like it here Jim, or we would probably have some too. Bet they couldn't handle our winters.
Not many people can handle our winters, that's why there are snow birds.

DIL's mother said the baby kind of makes her want to move back here. I reminded her of our winters............LOL

Got the name of a place up near my boyfriend that just hired someone to do Homehealth Care, so I guess there is some hiring going on there. I already have an application for the place. I've had it for about a year now. Guess I will be filling that out next time I'm there and dropping it off for them.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Be the squeaky wheel, Kassy! it sounds like you would enjoy living and working up there.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Kassy you ever think of putting an ad in the paper to do home-care? Here the ladies that do it privately have more work then they can handle.
I have been asked several times to quit the agency and go private, but I have to many other obligations and don't want to work that many hours a week.

Delhi, LA

Do the agencys you guys work for need someone to do their payrolls and tax forms. The company my son works for does that. He has a lot of home health and nursing home accounts.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I work for the county Jim so I think they have there own people to do that.
Well that should be a pretty secure job, good for him.

Delhi, LA

He has done rea well with his end of the business. David, his boss, opened up a new end of his existing business and hired Mark to open it and run it. It is steadyly growing.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Your son has a pretty secure job Jim, think there will always be a place for health care workers and office work needed in that field.

Pretty calla lillys Kassy, they are my all time favorite plants. Just don't have any luck keeping them after they finish blooming.

Here is a picture of GS's pumpkin, he is so proud!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

DD's garden is small but full. She had to put a fence up to keep the fat ground hog out, he was helping himself to all the goodies. No tomatoes yet, but won't be long.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ohhhh! That is a nice pumpkin!

Flowers, that looks like a lot of tomato plants! And they look very nice.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

OK can anyone name this tune? Got another plant, DD's said lady that gave it to her said it was a type of fern, never saw a fern look like that. It has dark purple stems.

Here is my little Vitex bush, also called chase tree I think.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Flowers, I bet 'dictionary Dave' could tell you what it is. Nice little Vitex bush.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll bet you're right, Venice!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice pumpkin Flowers,GS should be proud. i gt mine planted too late I won't have pumpkins til Easter. LOL

Hi Smiley, Venice hope you are all having a good day.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)
