Seed - I posted on the Christmas thread that yes I did get your blocks. They are so FINE. The ladies are going to lOVE them...
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
Been away the past few days - busy getting things packed for the move.
It's so exciting hearing of these gatherings, so much fun! It makes me realize, though, how much I missed while I wasn't around.
It's been great having the kids off school, they're awesome at helping out with all that needs to be done. Keith has been applying to quite a few jobs, some of them are really close to Betty so we'll see what happens.
Where are you moving to?
Evening all, talk about tired...bath and neocitron both waiting for me..Left Toronto this morning to bring Crissy to the airport and return home..got to tell you, had we been but 1 hour later crossing the border Crissy would not have made her flight..bet there is a 5 or more hours waiting..guess all the Canadians having 4 day Canada Day are spending it in USA..Crissy and I didn't let not feeling well hinder our sightseeing..so much to tell and so many photo's to share, will do so tomorrow night as I have to be out of the house to pick up friends for the Elmvale Canada Day street festival..picking them up at 8 soooo it's early to bed for me...Yesterday Crissy and I went to the CN Tower for lunch..omg what a fabulous meal..for 2 it cost $106.96 + tip but was well worth it..the 360 rotating restaurant took your breath away..took photo's so will share them..only part that was not included in the meal
back again, Rogers salesmen were in telling me how much $$$ I could save if I did bundling, told him not sure why I'd go for it because the internet service is soooo slow, told me if I went with the bundle he'd have the new internet system connected in 1/2 hr. - in order to do so, had to disconnect...so here I am, checking it out and hoping it works better...
sooo only thing that wasn't in the meal price at CN tower was to go up into the highest area - 33 floors above the restaurant for viewing..ok by me, me who is terrified of heights..but must tell you, you don't feel that high in the restaurant and the view so spectacular that it escapes your mind...
Got off the elevator into the restaurant and who did I see, an old friend Jeff who works as a head waiter in the CN tower, brought Crissy and I each an appetizer, seafood, nice of him but yuk so Crissy enjoyed hers and mine...every once and awhile he'd come over to chat and gave us 2 tickets to go to the upper floor..leave it to me to find a friend..LOL .. got to show you some photo's..you'll be wanting to come and visit, bet you will!
Jaye, I so enjoyed meeting you all...you are such a sweetheart, know why you've always been so special to me, as are all, can't wait for the Canadian reunion, of course all are always welcome, no need to wait until 2012...
CN Tower still holds the record for the tallest building in the world..once the tower in Europe is done then it will most likely keep the tallest free standing but not the tallest building if that makes sense...
What a view..it takes 72 minutes to completely rotate 360 degrees, every few minutes we were taking photo's of the new scene...these photo's were taken from our table only inches from the window..
Beautiful shots Betty!
Love the little plants planter. That is so cute. What is used for the legs to hold it up?
Janice and I...
Notice how excited I was to get my quilt blocks....lordy I felt spoilt,
got my Red/White/Blue swap from FOTV, my 'from my neck of the woods swap' from Jaye and didn't she pass out to everyone lovely aprons, Judy made t-shirts for our group and had a 'fake food' for my collection brought back from Europe..as well, Rick gave me seeds, also got lovely pincushion from Stacey and Janice..oooh just so much, tomorrow I'll open the boxes and oooh and ahhhh again...
Beautiful Pictures ! Betty - I would have been just the same...having someone hold my hand up so high!
Why is that? I don't think I've always been that way?
Sounds like a lovely visit ! SO glad to have you back !
Judy - not sure if I answered you above...but did Breenie get the job? Sounds like an office job... is it? DS was offered a job at Smoothie King....but it's probably because I know the people...so NOW...I'm really nervous that he do well..... it's his first 'real' job... he's been doing landscaping for a friend....but friend didn't take out taxes, and it's an 'on again off again' thing.... so while hard work... I don't consider it something to look good on an application.
Hugs to all,
Mary
What nice pictures, so great to see everyone having a good time.
I used to always ask my parents to take us to the CN Tower but they never did. I finally got to go after Keith and I got married; we went with friends of ours on a double date and had a great time. We didn't go all the way to the top but I did get a picture of me sitting on the glass floor.
I also have very fond memories of visiting Casa Loma with my grandmother when I was very young. My grandparents had an apartment in Toronto and we spent a lot of the summer visiting them. My grandmother LOVED Casa Loma and would take us there quite often. You photos bring back good memories. She would also take us to Centre Island a lot - lots of fun.
Gillian, view of the waterfront above was part of Center Island, and yes, it must be a mom and grandmother thing, took everyone for visits to all...I haven't changed, last time we did the tower, I stuck to the back wall, kind of funny because if something went wrong anywhere on the tower why would I think clinging to the back wall would save me..lol..
Just dropped in for a second, leaving with the girls shortly and I still haven't done anything with my hair..lordy, got a call to ask what time I was being picked up, was having the nicest dream, sure wish I could have gone back and finished it....
Mary, now you have to put on your list of places to see my neck of the woods...
Have a good Betty. Good morning Mary, and Gillian. How are you both doing today? And Tubby where are you at today? Hope your doing well, and getting your rest.
Betty-such nice pics!!!! You are braver than I as there is no way I woulda went up in the tower. I hate heights. When I was in 6th grade we went up in the Sears Tower for a school trip and I stayed right next to the elevator!!LOL And when Chris turned 30 we ate at a restaurant in the top floor of the Hilton in San Fransisco. They sat us next to the window and I sat in the chair farthest away and turned my seat so my back was to the window. Chris loved it though. And that was only like 15 or 20 floors up.... How nice for you to see an old friend!! And Casa Loma looks wonderful! Sure looks like Crissy was having a good time:)
I enjoyed seeing you again too Betty-such a sweet lady and Chris really liked the glasses that you did too.
LK-you'll have to ask Joyce-it was hers. I tried to make off with it, but she had her eye on me;)
Mary-good to hear your son has a regular job.
Gillian-I am sure you have a ton of wonderful memories of the grands and those summers.
OOO-almost forgot-look what Mom found for the baby's room:)

I still take a pill in the am and have a couple bad days a week, but it is better:)
Glad to hear your doing better. Those dragons are so cute.
Linda Kay , I forgot to answer you last night. We have no idea where we're moving yet. We just know that it's time to move. It mainly depends on where my husband is able to get a new job. He's on parental leave until Christmas but if he gets a job elsewhere he'll go back to work earlier. We'll see what happens.
I wish him luck finding another job!
Betty, Tubby, I have a funny to share......
Honesty
Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I said,
"Fried chicken."
She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right,
everyone else in the class laughed.
My parents told me to always be truthful and honest, and I am.
Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened,
and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they
love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef.
Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him
what happened, and he laughed too. Then he told me not to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live
animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like
she'd asked the other children. So I told her it was because you
could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the
principal's office again. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.
I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my
teacher doesn't like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked us to
tell her what famous person we admire most.
I told her, "Colonel Sanders".
Guess where I am now.
LOL, too cute Thunder...
Well guess who is back from the Canada Day street garage sale and plant sale without nothing..yikes, got mixed up in my days, it's not until Saturday morning..now how on earth did I do that..so off we go again Saturday..
Girls came back here for coffee, walk in the gardens and we're re-designing thanks to Joyce/Birdie and Jane's gardens..lol..question is, will I start TODAY?
Running a fever so best I stay doing nothing, thought it was all but gone but nope back with a vengence...
Stacey was fun meeting up wasn't it..glad you liked the glasses..I should have taken photo's of the blackboards and glasses to post...
Linda Kay, I'm going across again on July 18th so am sending you, Marion, Kathy yours..hope we meet up someday...maybe the Canada Reunion in 2012 that is at my house...
Gillian, am anxious to find out where Keith will get his teaching position, sure do hope it's near me ..what mischief we could get into..keep forgetting than father's can have parental leave as well..with the school year starting in September, wouldn't you think he'd get an answer shortly?
Betty-I have to take some pics tomorrow, so I will try to remember to take one of the glasses and post it too:)
Hi everyone, I made it home and I'm back at work. Woo Hoo!! Betty thanks for posting the pics, I'm working on mine and working in between, so you know how that is, it's going to take me awhile, I took almost 500 pictures!!!!!!
Betty I can't thank you enough for taking me to all of those places and up to your 'neck of the woods' and meeting almost your whole immediate family, you live in a wonderful area and share some time with some wonderful friends and I wish I could leave the keys in my car and the whole house open and not have to worry about anything being stolen, what a world to live in, and let's not forget the beauty!!! WOW!!
Betty, I don't know what or why your sending something. Is it for a swap?
Thunder, that was so funny. Thanks for the smiles. How are you doing?
Crissy, we will be waiting to see some of your pics also. Sounds like we missed a lot on the trip.
Sure wish Cindy could have made it too. That makes four of us that should have been there, but could not. Marion, sure hope your Sister and Mom are doing better. Kathy if your lurking, hope your doing better too!
Tried my best to show you what I could, not easy in 2 days, you needed more, next time perhaps!
LOL, few believe the community I live in, my house as you saw has a revolving door, rarely do I know how many people come in and out in a day..always interesting to find out who and why!!!
Enjoyed your company as well, nice to see some of my own neighborhood treasures...
I've come in for a break, been working outside in the heat, edging gardens and planning a few projects..too funny, little downward creek and bottom pond is in my mind..most likely I'd have 50% of it done if I had some answers to my questions pertaining to flow of water...maybe by tonight I will and I've 3 days to do it in...
LindaKay, I made 15 blackboards and 3 sets of glasses..had included all who were there or wanted to be there..ended up taking excess home so will package them up and do the shipping on the 18th...
Oh goodness, AlI can say is thank you very much. Looking forward to see what you send.
Years ago when my Grandparents were still alive, they lived in the country, and they too could leave the house and not lock the doors. Now that neighbor hood is all developed into condo's and it does not even look like it did 30 - 40 years ago. Shame they have to build condo's and such, and ruin the country living areas. Grandpa would not be happy for sure.
