Goodness Susan, it's been a long haul for you with this bronchitis..I thought the meds were finally working? Are you prone to bronchitis and the damp rainy weather causing it to rear its ugly head? Hope you rest the next few days...

Paul was telling me today that Greg and Jeff, he and Colin were in a golf tournament yesterday and for the 2nd year running they won it..Jeff e-mailed, gave me the site of his new 2010 Kayak adventure blog..some read about last years and enjoyed so maybe when you have time you might check it out..

Best of today...having Noah here, nice having a man in the house...he told me he'd love to stay here longer and he doesn't mind doing chores...I'm sure by the weekend he'll want to be home...one good thing about texting, mom and dad have been in contact with him almost every waking hour..lol and see that I have a new printer/fax/scanner attached to my computer today..Darlene and Dennie were here, I called Darlene and she said she thought I needed one...doubtful but earthly angels know more than I...

Worse...Suzanne having food poisoning..when we ate at a new restaurant yesterday I didn't eat my chicken, I said it tasted much like it was cooked in oil that had fried fish, because she ordered curry chicken she said she couldn't taste anything..shortly after she had to leave the office she was so sick, I was nauseated but guess because I didn't eat all my chicken I managed not to get what she got...


What did I learn today? Christian Island Indian Reserve is having their elections, Paul and Colin (our office lawyer) is representing a couple of men who are running for office..had the media in the office with all involved going through legistics of the band...interesting and lots of facts I wasn't aware of...

So busy here. Much going on again.

Found out Paul will need more eye surgery, probably by the end of the year. Going through Regents exams for year, lots of testing for Shane. Two days of doctors coming up with Shannon also. Then next week, Carrie & Andy going out of town for a week....and I get to watch my Granddog...Dolly. After seeing what Betty went through....I am not excited any further!

Oh, Betty coming over the border...jumping out of the car and saying "I GOT FRISKED" is something I will never forget!

Oh/oh, how will the kitties adapt to 'Dolly'...are you feeling better now Debbie..not good new about Paul, am sure you are both very concerned, we'll be praying for him..government here has mandated testing via exams for grades 3, 6 and 10, based on average they decide how much funding to provide to the school..Noah did his exam last week..are regionals much the same...good luck Shane....

Crissy is arriving next Thursday Debbie at 1:00pm, we'll be going to Ohio to a gathering and then heading home Sunday morning so would be back in your neck of the woods most likely Sunday night...

LindaKay, still shocked that Jeff who enjoys speed i.e. boat/motorcycle/car has taken to kayaking like he has...I've seen a few of the wants he's listed, might pick one and get him an early Christmas present... he sure did well last year..my only concern again is that he is doing this all on his lonesome..mother's do worry...he was great last year though, heard from him every day, some days his antics scarred the beejeebers out of me... I can't believe the parents of the young lady under 16 I believe who is travelling around the world by boat let her go..imagine how they must have felt when she went missing...yesterday the news reported said it was being done for a reality show, father needed $$$$..sure hope that is not the case...remember the young lad in the baloon..much the same..

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't been doing much gardening this year. There's a good chance we'll be moving just not sure where yet. I've mainly just been taking care of the perennial bed. I did just get some hoya cutting, though, so that will have to do for this year.

Susan, I used to post quite regularly to this thread but I haven't been around much for the past year or so. I still think about my best/worst friends often though and I've decided that I need to come back.

And just a bit more bragging. Yesterday the school held it's year-end awards assembly. Sonora received the Cree, French and Track & Field awards. I'm really happy for her.

Just an FYI for Betty and Crissy-it is supposed to be (as of today-things can change) mid to high 80's with a fair amount of humidity for next weekend. I would check again on Tues or Wed to make sure, but since it seems that we are running higher than Betty, thought you'd like to know....

Sonora looks like a teen, all dressed up..how proud she must be and of course you have a right to brag....has Keith requested another post..know you said it wouldn't be this far south, but closer would be better for all the grandparents..being part of their lives is so important..guess now with internet and web cams it's different now..your family would certainly be missed big time should you move..

As for Jeff, I bought him a waterproof kayak bag for the top of the kayak, he can keep all the things he needs for day travelling...you would not believe the micro equipment he has..I was most amazed at his bed, you can put it into your pocket, pull a cord and it inflates, micro sheet almost like fabric softener sheet, that's how thin and it can keep you warm in 40 below zero...also the cooking stove and equipment..all micro..

I now have his list of wants, will go on the Bass Pro web-site so that I can see the items on his want list..I'm mostly interested in getting him the beacon finder, just for my own peace of mind...you have to know Georgian Bay to know the dangers, that piece of equipment certainly would help..I'm a nervous mom about this as you can see..

Betty - yes, I have chronic bronchitis. At a drop of a hat and overwork I will get it.
Apparently too, calcium "binds" with the meds I take, and because of that I wasn't getting them properly so of course it wasn't working. Partly too, I was overworking (11-12 hr days, and Sunday) so I wasn't getting the rest I needed.
Today makes 3 days off, and I surely need this day, too. My boss said I should take time off to get well ^_^ He's such a sweetheart and he Knows How Hard I Work.
I get onto work email though, and take care of whatever "fires" are happening, such as one physician needing his memo formatted with Times 11pt, current date and a company logo LOL There's no other secretary he could get to do this?!?!?! He's sooooo needy!

Susan, work can wait, you've been doing so much of late that I'm sure you are rundown, that's why most likely you've had another bout of it..my brothers Bernie and Mike suffer from much the same, lordy, doesn't take them much to have pneumonia along with it..

Betty, yes we need to book a room. I sent you a dmail a while back on a Quality Inn that's just down the road from her house. If you want me to book it I will. Good idea to play the rest by ear, knowing us we may just decide to drive straight up to your house Sunday so we have all day Mon and Tues to play in your neck of the woods, but then again we may not want to drive that far. Who knows!!

I also borrowed "Atlas Shrugged" from my boss and that will be relaxing to read for hours upon hours on end lol

I checked work email and there was nothing in the way of "fires" to put out.
I spoke to another of my team of bosses and asked how the "move" from one office in our hallway to another went - apparently they're waiting for me to get back to complete the move. As I can't seem to exert myself without throwing me into a bout of coughing, That's Not Gonna Happen too soon.... I can't be packing boxes and hauling them even across the hallway to a different office without exerting myself.
Maybe I'm back tomorrow, and maybe Monday. I told them I'm taking it one-day-at-a-time.

LOL...well you've kept your sense of humour through your illness Susan..as I said, work can wait..take Friday as well then that give you 3 days to recoup..next weekend is our Canada Day on Thursday, is your boss considering letting all take a vacation day on Friday to make an extended 4 day weekend...think they are here...that will give me 11 days off, excited as can be, other time I have coming I'll save for later this summer when I plan what I'm doing with the 4 boys...our yearly week vacation..

it's not up to my boss to tell us to take the 2nd - it's not company policy and I work for a branch of Alberta Health. I could take it as a vacation day, but I've got a new physician starting then, so I'm not taking vacation until the middle 2 weeks of July (have another physician starting the 1st of August, too! That will make 12 physicians I report to!).
I work for a Division of Research Pathologists as their secretary. 3 of them will be in other buildings/hospitals. I work in the administrative office of the Lab. Keeps me hopping, y'bet!

AND no wonder you are tired..yikes, not good..

Crissy, yes please book the room, nope, I've driven from Florida straight home before, driving for long periods doesn't bother me..and yes, want to show you some of my country..

next weekend isn't Canada Day...... that's 2 more weekends to go.
weekend of 19/20, then 26/27...... Then we get the one day off.... siiiiiigh could sure use an extra day, but I'll be helping the new pathologist settle in.

All confused, I finish work on Wednesday of next week, with Canada Day so soon after I keept thinking it's all in the same week...I was to come back to work on the Thurs. but it's Canada Day, then taking the 1 extra day on Friday so it makes for 11 fun filled days...lol

Have you met the pathologist as yet?

Driving long distances doesn't bother me either, I get in a car and could drive for days. Me and Dave have done that, we switched drivers to drive straight through from CA to AR, then back again. It's 30 hours non-stop, but about 35 hours if you stop for food and gas.

No, she hasn't been here the past couple of days. I can tell, my deodorant isn't working like it did a year ago, my taste is changing, I have mood swings that I didn't have a year ago, and I can just feel it, I don't feel right. What's bad is I don't have a history of when my family goes into menopause, my mom's mom had a hysterectomy at 36 years old, my dad's mom had one at 36 years old, and my mom had one at 40 years old, so I don't know old to expect it! Apparently it's coming...

I live about 40 minutes from the airport. Dave's going to drop me off and pick me up.

Betty - I met the one starting in August, but I don't believe I met the one starting in July.
And it's been so long since I met the one starting in august that I can't remember what he looks like lol.
I hope neither of them is "High maintenance" lol

Learned: I am happier than I think I have ever been. (I feel guilty saying that...do I think I'l be punished for it ? I shouldn't. LOL - I guess that is something else to learn !)

Told Noah this morning that I had to go to town shopping and that I would pick up Chinese food, no wonder he wants to stay with grandma..it's treat time and a lot of spoiling..

Greg and Kyle were over last night taking the shrink wrap off the Foxy Lady last night and Kyle was complaining, why was Noah staying and not he..told them to take turns for the summer...we'll see what becomes of that...Noah went over to the ballfield last night to watch the baseball game just behind my house, only about 2 minutes away, by the time Suzanne had visited and left it was 9:30 so over I went to check up on him...he and friends were doing bike jumps, said he didn't realize the time as all the baseball field lights were on and it looked daylight..no problem just wanted to make sure all was well...he asked, 'why didn't you text me grandma?' oh, forgot about being able to do that..lol I had better get more hip...

Happy Happy Happy Days Betty!!!! I thought when I was in the shower this morning, "Me and Betty will probably be heading out to get to Cookies about this time next week." Still feel bad about going because of the money situation, but like my mom said last night, this could be a once in a lifetime thing that has cropped up and I should go see and meet everyone, when you have an opportunity to do something, don't put it off til next year because next year may never come." She is so right and I am so excited!!

Betty I booked that hotel yesterday so we are good to go, and I got my Choice Hotel Membership price, which was cheaper than the senior discount, plus I get more points for a free night, which I am thousands of points short for that, but the more I use it the better and cheaper it will be for us!

Your mom is right Crissy..when it comes to travelling at the last minute I'm thinking, now with these funds I could buy a window, with these funds I could purchase an arch..hey, there's always tomorrow for that kind of thing... I'm sure we don't have to be big time spenders..

Yes Betty I am, but it depends upon what I'm climbing on, if it's stairs I'm ok, if it's a ladder of any kind forget it. If I'm standing 100ft in the air in one of those lookout towers I'm fine, unless the wind is blowing and the thing is moving, then I'm motion sick. It all depends, what do you have in mind??? I have to remember to pack Dramamine!!! Don't let me forget that!

Oh working outside, we are in a heat advisory as the temp is supposed to be cooler today than the past 2 weeks, what is up with that???

Crissy, been looking at different ways to go south, all the different ways coming from Buffalo range between 1 - 1 1/2 hrs. difference..I get tired of going same way all the time, and, we're breaking up our journey on Thursday so here's my thought..

Go Pittsburg way and do Mt. Washington - the incline...it's only $2.50 for what is rated America's 2nd best view...of course that's after Niagara Falls...you up to it?
