I might have the green one seeds left.. if you want to, I mix them up in with other prenniels since they reseed... they get about two ft tall.Well maybe three if in full sun and left alone. I pinch them out all the time.
I have some of these any one want them? Borage blue, looks cute when the bloom is frozen in an icecube and served in a tall glass of water.( Also edible)

Morning, fotv I don't think you taking a cutting from coleus was the problem, that seems to be their mo. Look really good into winter and then suddenly they die.....least for me for years. I am thinking this year I will get a heat mat and put them on there. I know they don't like cold temps at all and see if that helps. I had two make it thru the winter. One was the entire plant I dug up and in a pot., the other is one little cutting and it still isn't huge by any means but still alive.

Maybe that is red perilla coming up in my tiny flower bed. I have one little stalk of something really dark purple, and at first thought it was a coleus then remembered I hadn't bought any. Beautiul color but I will need to move it, it is in a tiny tiny flower bed.

Found a bigger pic of the black ee. Ignore the piece of iron in the pot, another story.
You can see the runners coming out of the pot and down to the ground.

oh that black ee looks really good. I didn't know they "RaN" I have one. It is in dappled shade, is that ok?

That one was/is on the north east side of my house, so dabbled shade should work perfect.
Love that rose, do you know the id. Everytime I buy a rose from the label at the spur of the moment it looks red to me, when I get them home and bloom they are dark red, I have one bush and one climber I don't like but they perform so well and live I can't get rid of them....LOL I really don't like dark red roses tho. I do have some white roses going and hope they get big, love them!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Beautiful roses, Debra.

Gotta get a bigger pot for the EE, happ. OH MY Heavens! Your other plants are beautiful too.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Well the big bird of paradise got cut to the top of the pot because it got bugs and was too big but is coming back now.
Aren't those runners wierd coming out of the pot o the ee? Yeah I have some really big potted stuff, what doesn't kill you will keep you in shape? LOL
I bought a tea cup ee yesterday for 4.00, I am a happy camper!
I am dragging things out of the garden room like a crazy person.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Seed heads on an ee....strange.

Just squeeze the seeds out of the red berry. I always put them in a glass of distilled water and shake it well to allow the pulp to separate from the seed. A friend in Hawaii started my doing this several years ago and it works great.

Replace the water two or three times and in time all the seeds will sink to the bottom and the pulp will rise to the surface as a thick liquid. In some, the pulp can actually cause the seed not to germinate.

Pour the thick part off and wash the seeds again. I then pot them in small pots with porous soil covered with a layer of sphagnum moss. They root and come up in a week or two and once they have a good root system I progressively move them to larger pots

On some species we have grown so many I have to give them away or just throw them away. It is fun to watch them grow.

Steve

So when I figure out when the seeds are ripe I will send you all some if ya wanna try it.
I will post when I think they are ripe and you can tell me then if you want one. If you tell me now I will just forget by then.....and I am a terrible note taker.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I am in.. that sounds like how I germinate my seeds from tomatoes, of which I have about two hundred of right now.. LOL

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Strange but wonderful seeds, happ.
Look at that baby go, Debra. We're enjoying some mighty fine coffee this morning :)

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Lookie... My honey got this for me to cheer me up. It is a gardenia standard and it is full of buds and blooms. Wanna take bets on how long it takes for me to kill it?? :))

Neener

Your honey is a sweetie! Since I'm Southern born and bred, there's nothing like the scent of Magnolias or Gardenias on a hot Summer night. I can smell the heavenly scent of your Gardenia from here, Neener, and you will too for a long time with all those buds :)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh that is so pretty, you are so lucky to have such a sweet hubby. ;)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Love the smell of gardinas they are intoxicating......it would be so nice to have them in the ground.
What a sweetie!

Guys I have a bassett hound that had surgery and he had one of those collars on so he can't lick his stitches. I got maybe 30 minutes of sleep. He paced all night, running into things, catching it on the carpet, his legs are sooo short. I gave him a pain pill around 10pm in hopes he would calm down, well he did at 4:30 this morning when I had to get up! Poor little guy, he looks up with those sad eyes!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

awwww poor baby.. I bet he was miserable and confused.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I wish you all could have smelled that gardenia last night. We were sitting in the front yard and the wind was up after a long hot day. That scent was everywhere! Totally awesome. I hope that I can keep it blooming one the buds it came with are done.

Joyce sorry about the pup. I remember doing the collar thing with our old dog. He was miserable as well. Not to mention looking really goofy. We had a bad thunderstorm last night. No rain really, but lightening like crazy. Was up for hours while the dog tried to burrow under the bed. Gonna have to get some happy pills to mellow her out during the storms this summer.

Got some pics of this guy hiding in my lilies.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

rvnsbrk, I feel for you, thunderstorms are no fun when your dog is scared...that can keep you up all night! LOL Did you jump when you saw the little guy? Is it a lizard or a frog? I had a tree frog in garden room on a brug and he would jump and about give me a heart attack. He blended in perfectly.

Yesterday afternoon when I was exhausted I have to admit I felt sorrier for myself than I did the bassett, I was soooooo tired. Then had to stay at work until 6:30, then to Moms to order pills, and take her to the grocery store, I was a walking zombie!

Bass slept last night most of the night, he was up a couple times but nothing like the first night. He is so sad looking. I am amazed he isn't as scared as I thought he would be not being able to see what is coming or to the side of him.

Well glad to report we had the biggest plant sale ever last weekend. I think even after paying for advertising it will still be a record amount.....yeah! Several of us are hoping we can get a greenhouse for the mg group to use.

Oh Debra, my Mom put those morning glory seeds in 2 seperate pots and I think every one of them has come up. They are still only the one leaf, but well on the way. Hope they are pretty, they look pretty on the package. I ame excited to see them. Maybe I can talk her out of a couple....LOL

Got some tomato plants yesterday, now need to figure out where to put them. Strawberries are ready to pick again....I ate a ton of them so far!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Happ it was a frog. I think maybe a Cope's Gray Tree Frog. We have a lot of them around here.

Eat some strawberries for me!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

joyce when are you coming to wichita? I have morning glories in pots galore, you don't have to wait for seed to sprout.
If ya gonna grow some from seed hang on until I get a packet sent to you, will send off tuesday from work.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, Actually I will be in Wichita very shortly except it is a 1/2 day , so I won't get to stop and talk to anyone, sides boss will be with us.....quick and out. That is sweet of you to send mg. Mom already has some started but when I stopped by there Thursday she had watered them with the hose, those little one leafs were pretty flattened, but knowing how she is they will all pop back up for her. For me they would just die...LOL

Have been in the car most of the day, went to the bank, then came home got DH and off we went to DS birthday, then back and each of these trips are over an hour...why does riding make you so tired.....coming home I started nodding off...LOL

Oh stopped by the iris farm and bought 2 more bags of iris,(can't remember the names), and then he was selling bags of mixed iris (that is what he calls noid) for 5.00. He promised me they were pretty iris. I do trust him I have know him for several years. So I am happy...., except no playing in the garden for me until Monday..... :C

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Cudos on your plant sale, Joyce. Your group of MG's rock trying to raise that much money for a new greenhouse. Ya think you were nodding off cause you haven't had much sleep the last few nights and have been running around like a crazy woman? At least your Basset Hound sounds like he's calmed down a bit. Can you imagine having to wear a lampshade around your neck 24/7? I sure can't and would be going nuts too. You and that Iris farm sounds like me and our local Daylily farm.....except I've been good and haven't visited it since last Fall. Don't get me wrong, I still have a long list...LOL

Debra, the "Flying Saucers" MG seeds you sent are doing well and have at least 4 leaves now. They were beat down last night from our T-storms but sprung back today. I mixed them with Purple Hyacinth Bean Vine seeds from you and Faye and planted them at the base of our front porch posts. It's going to look so cool when those vines completely cover our porch. I still need to look up the JMG seeds you sent and will find a good place for them when we return from vacation.

I mowed our yard this afternoon -- that always eats up a good 3 hours -- planted the Bluestone Perennials diamond9192002 gave me for my b-day, did 3 loads of laundry, took off the trash, and cooked supper. I'm ready to crash.

One shot shows Allium "Hair" blowing in the wind this morning. I don't remember the name of the short Allium with pretty Purple blooms.

Holey Moley Debra child, that is some list you have there of brugs......where in the world are you going to keep all of them! I mean we are talking tree size here! LOL.....

Spent all day in the car again! yuck! enough already! Got up bright and early, DH, myself, both sisters, BIL, and BIL son all met about an hour from my house with weed eaters, brooms, rakes, shovels, to go clean up a very old over grown cemetery! We got a lot done. Weed eated the whole thing, set some of the old headstones back up, filled up some bad spots, and planted our first rose bush up there. There are 4 peony bushes up there that have survived there that have to be between 50 and 75 years old. I would like to get it all cleaned up nicely and start planting flowers from that time period. It is on top of a hill and you can see forever and it is just beautiful up there. I bought a concrete bench to take up there but forgot to take it this trip..... :C After we got done we drove back home, I got cleaned up and picked up my Mom and drove another 1hour to the other cemetery, then drove 2 hours back the other way and took Mom up to the old cemetery. She was so happy to see it cleaned up, I am so glad we did it. No one ever visits the other grave sites there, guess cause they are soooo old. Got home and DH wanted to go do something so back in the car again......

Tomorrow is mine! Just gonna play in the gardens nonstop!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Have fn today Joyce, it has been raining cats and dogs here.. my yard is big and there is lots of room for the brugs..

Thumbnail by joeswife
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Looked like rain but no rain last night, now we are having July weather in May, 86 no rain, and humid.....I am actually watering today.....
Think I am working on everything at once, came in to get a drink.
Brugs outdoors I didn't think you would have a problem, are you gonna cut them all back for winter? I am thinking that is what I will do with all except 2 maybe..... how short ya gonna cut if you are gonna cut?

fotv, dh is not allowed with the weed eater around the flowers so guess where he went today? Around the pine trees, guess what was around the pine trees, my little hairy ferns. They are not so hairy now, but I am guessing they will come back.....toes crossed. Ughhhhh, most dh's would jump up and down if their wife said honey don't bother weed eating I will do it. I even let him tell me when he wants it done, anything to keep him away from living things and that weed eater......

I am still dragging plants outside and still have things to plant, still have weeding, still have mulching......do you all ever get done? Thinking about taking wed, thur, fri, off.....maybe I can get something done, cause my social calender is filling up fast....LOL

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I personally never get done Joyce. Ever. Never. Just ask DH. I can find work to do anytime, anywhere. :)) I did a little this morning, but it is so darm hot here and humid. Finally got the EE's planted. The new kitten keeps sitting on the sprouting caladiums, so I don't think they are ever gonna come up and amount to anything. I have the worst luck with starting caladiums. If I had back all the money I've spent on bulbs over the years, I could by a dozen nursery caladiums for the rest of my life! When will I learn....

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Well if you are like me, you will never learn...LOL Someone told me the definition of insane was doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result.....well that describes me...LOL

It is hot here also. I think my outdoor mess is cleaned up, think I will order pizza, take a bath and put on my pj's in about an hour...I am shot!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Desperate Plea! To anyone I sent cutting of Angel Trumpets. Help please. My Angel trumpets did not come back. I almost cry each time I see the stumps where Angel Trumpets were last year. Please save me cuttings from any you have. I will gladly pay postage.
Thank you all so much.
Faye

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry Faye, I will get you some cuttings!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Shoot Faye,

I wondered about that in your zone when you said you were leaving them out. Did you mulch them under?? Sure will save you some in the Fall. Some of the ones you sent are getting going finally. I planted them all in the ground too because of watering issues and too many pots to bring in. I'll have to rethink that in the Fall as well. Bummer!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Nita, yes I mulched heavy. The lady I got Kay Harris Pink from lives close to me and hers came back. Actually she is Kay Harris. Yard Sale yellow ( from here in Henderson) did come back slowly, but doesn't look good. Both of these ladies leave theirs in the ground. From the cuttings I saved of my plants are beginning to bloom. I have two that look the same until you look into the center of the bloom.

This is the bloom from the other plant...Pink, but not Kay Harris pink.

This was my Kay Harris Pink last year, do not have a cutting from her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She is beautiful!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I will search all over and find the Kay harris pink that made it thru winter. Yard Sale Yellow is by the corner of the A/C unit.
Your first white is in one of the Multi Tubs ( a tub of three brugs) When I get home Saturday from work I will gather them up. I am glad I am able to have them for you. I have three more b. arborea seedlings from Kells' seeds. Get your names on them if you want one.

Here is frosty tonight.. he is in FULL SUN and in the ground on the north fence. Frosty two is a little East of him and under a scraggley elm tree from the neighbors.

Debra Frosty is sure pretty, what a bunch of blooms.
dahtzu, I will send versi and another that I can never remember the name, I may have more but I know I can send those.....I would be sick if I lost all of mine! I will mail on Monday.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)
