Isn't that interesting Barb..excellent mode of transportation if you are able to operate one without running someone down...lol
Been to 3 area garage sales, much I could buy but what would I do with it..however, that being said there was an oval mirron, quite a size for $8.00..no frame..all of a sudden I got a brainstorm..have an old metal easle that's been sitting under the deck for forever, not sure it has all the parts but if I glued glass globs around the outer edge, set easle into one of the gardens and place the mirron onto the easle, how pretty it should look..took a quick run into town, came back with 6 bags of glass globs (hoping that's enought) and will play at my project..won't take long..most of the work will be trying to figure out the easle...
In the meantime, 2 of the girls who were here Sunday came and picked up their projects..drats, would have enjoyed seeing them and their hubbies...that's what you get when you run the roads..miss the company!
Best/Worse and what did I learn today?visit with friends...
lol betty,
im trying,
going to meet some people tomorrow to see if the dogs get along we may adopt another smooth coat fox terrier his name is tux he is 6 years old and just as much a hand full as our late wire hair fox terrier asta..
all is good, granny is fine, working, and out of control with the r/w/b swap lol cant stop adding things.
so life is quite hectic trying to clean up the yard ect...
waving to all be on soon
Bev, I keep thinking of the marble pieces you have in your garden..what I wouldn't give..lol..lucky you..as always, what a beautiful photo..little to share as my gardens don't come into bloom in their fullest until early July..with Crissy coming at about same time I hope they are in their prime.. and yes, mirror reflect the beauty, just not sure where it will go through...
Liz, always brings a smile when I see you post..omg..could I be your R/W/B swap pal??? hmmm wouldn't that be something..I had you last year...I've my R/W/B pieces that I received out looking pretty..am ready for July 1st and July 4th..nice being part of 2 countries...
Not much more I can do with the mirror, globs are on an dnow they need drying time...drats!!!
YAY Mary!! Vacation with no kids! That sounds like a great time! We're going to my mom's for Memorial Day weekend, coming back Sunday so I can recoup Monday before going to work on Tuesday.
Have fun Barb! Hope your team wins!!!
LOL Betty, yes can't visit with company when you're not home. Nice mirror, and what a great idea!!
I have just been elected to go fix Aunt Eller's computer. She wants someone to fix her surge protector because the power light inside the on/off switch is blinking. I told Dave 2 days ago that the ones that have bulbs in the on/off switch sometimes blink, it's nothing, but if she's freaked out about it then she needs to go buy a new surge protector. Dave just called her and told her, without me knowing it until I heard him say it on the phone, "Christine is going to come over this afternoon at 3pm to help you fix your surge protector." Then he comes to me and asks with her on the phone, "Honey, is it ok if you go fix Eller's surge protector? I'm going to the gym then to Wal Mart and I'll be back in an hour!" And out the door he flew so I wouldn't have time to respond to him. I was going to ask him why doesn't he just buy her another surge protector since he's going to Wal Mart anyway?! I don't want to go over there today, it's my day off. His brain has been shut off because of this:
He's helping his alcoholic cousin Robert fix a ball park. The owner of the ball park hired Robert to run concession, and has leased the property out to a group of 'event planners' to plan two events, one in the middle of June and the other on the 4th of July. He called Dave for free help (seems his family loves doing this.) This guy knows nothing about nothing, doesn't want to do any physical labor, doesn't get out of bed til noon and by then it's too hot for anyone to be doing any physical labor outside and Dave is so into this, it's insane. Besides, if the event planners were actual event planners they would have rented a place that was already set up with lighting, stages, etc. and they would be in there saying what they need done and not leaving Robert to figure out what they need. Good Grief.
Oh! And it keeps getting better! Is it June yet????
Dave's dad has just been cited for having too much junk in his front yard, his mom gets this same citation every 6 months in CA, they're hoarders and keep all of this broken crap and can't figure out why they get cited. I would suggest calling American Pickers but we're talking broken wooden ladders, manual bicycle pumps that don't work, old tires that are cracked and shredded, I can go on... He was telling me last night that WE have to go clean up his dad's property. I told him that I can't help because I'm a hoarder and will bring all of the junk home! LOL!!!!
Betty I cannot wait to get up there and away from all of this. It's like the idiot leading the idiot, and all they're accomplishing is more idiocy!
Betty that turned out very very nice!! I love it!!
I'm going to cool my jets and make a strawberry pie.
Barb, it's your grandson playing right? hope his team wins, am sure with all your yelling you'll edge them into victory...
Oh Crissy, your stories just get better and better...best you let Dave get into some mischief after all you are coming to Canada...about the same time Obama is arriving in Toronto on Airforce 1 - big summit conference not far from here..perhaps you can hitch a ride, would be so much quicker and you wouldn't have to deal with customs...
Sun is trying to peek through, I'm lost without projects galore to do..I'm on a 2nd t-shirt that I needed to go with the 1st. for the swap, realized the color of a medium I purchased just won't do, thought I could exchange in Midland but no go so it's either wait till Tuesday or make a trip to Barrie and I'm not up to that with all the traffic going on...they were saying that the border at Lewiston has over a 2hr. wait..imagine, just to go spend $$$$...
Crissy, good luck fixing the computer...
Liz, let us know how you make out checking out the 'doggie' hope you fall in love with him the minute you see him...he'd sure be lucky to get to be your furry!
I got bacon on...
Liz he's cute!!! What a little onery dog!! I bet you are excited about seeing him tomorrow.
The best tomorrow Liz, if you are both a perfect match will you be able to take him home tomorrow?
Is Kenny excited about the new addition?
Well, checked out the easle, it's a no go, think there are several pieces missing so in the garge it went, now quite can't figure what to do with the mirror...takes about 24hrs. to dry so that gives me a little time..if I knew how to secure it against metal I'd be ok..
Hello To All;
Liz - What a Cutie! You can tell he has a HUGE personality !
BARB ! WOW Thank you so much for the insight... I need to 'google' that name.... I really loved the segway... I was a bit afraid of it at first...and it took some getting used to.... I wouldn't say that I 'mastered' it.... but DS18 had a BLAST... he was "hotdogging" around and trying to go fast.... the trails around Epcot they had us on were interesting...weaving around columns in 'Italy".... on bridges... paths....
Betty - the Mirror is very pretty....how neat that you can see a "plain" mirror and envision what you can do to make it a work of art.... DH has that talent.. I ....however ....Do NOT...
We planted a bunch today.... plus decided to have a "Crawfish Boil" which is a Louisiana thing..... It was nice and YUMMY........
Waving "hi" to Bev....
Crissy - sounds like you need some "ME" time ....So nice to have a trip planned to Betty's! are you driving?
Hugs to all,
Mary
PS: JUDY! What "trick" am I trying to remember that you had in leaving teens with the house while on vacation.... Something With Jake... that I was trying to remember... If we leave Memorial weekend...I'll need to figure out how to keep DS in line re: the house while we're gone....and something tells me you had a good plan....
Mary I don't know if it is coincidence or not but this morning they had a segment on our news about a club in Massachusetts that are playing POLO ON SEGWAYS!!! That sure looked like fun. I would guess you need a good sense of balance for one but they sure can be fun.
Mary/Mary...no special talent in imagining 'what could be' just practice at seeing something's true value...you'll just have to practice seeing something all wondering what else it could be, just like us humans, haven't we changed our imagine/person many times through our lives? you managed to do that right?
Louisiana Crawfish din/din..remember ordering soup when I was in New Orleans and was aghast at seing a skeleton of some creature in the bowl as well...yikes, couldn't eat it...if I were to choose a place to live other than in Canada it would be in Louisiana and very close to New Orleans...the times I visited it, not sure if it's because of the french incorporated in every day life that did it but I sooo felt at home...
Wow Barb, that would certainly be inteesting to see, above a good sense of balance I would imagine..Barb did your grandson's team win yesterday?
They called for rain all day but not a drop, felt like a storm was brewing but it managed to move on to another area..
Greg and the family came over, we sat outside until the mosquito's almost carried us away..Kyle was out riding the bike that Greg made, just had to bring it and show grandma...by using it now before it get's painted this week Greg can find the kinks..I wouldn't think it's an easy bike to ride, when done I'll take it for a spin..lol
Christine is dropping in early this morning to pick up her masterpieces on the way to the cottage so I best go get dressed..the day is mine until 4:00 when I'm off to SIL's birthday party...
Hope you all enjoy your day, waving to all..
Betty-that is one heck of a bike-reminds me of the motorcycles they build on American Choppers:) Oh-and love the mirror. It would be a great compliment to the stork thing under the bed when you get it finished.
Crissy-you had me crackin up this am about the junk, your DH and FIL;)
Ooops forgot you saw that stain glass heron...yes, got to do something with it..
Last year I found 2 corners of a gazebo out at the curb, picked them up, and Bernie soldered them open, kept one for Charlene and one for me, going there this afternoon, maybe I should take it home and see how I could attach the heron...my problem is now where do I put these works of art..I'm at the edge of saying my yard is 'junky' along with the boys..maybe hidden in the secret garden would be a good place..thanks for reminding me..you might just have given me another project..
I just came in for a break, placed all the reclaimed barn lumber for my shed in categories, hopefully I can left the chopper saw so I can bring it outside, Greg said he'd drop of one of his saws this morning but you know me, I'm not into waiting, so I'll have to improvise shortly if he doesn't come soon..know he's relaxing, he's been a busy boy..laughing here, Oliver, almost 3rd son, had a big shindig at his cottage, no not cottage, mansion on the bay where we used to live, apparently through the grapevine, he had a blind date for Jeff, don't think Jeff does blind dates well..lol..he'll either be over shortly to get away from the date OR I won't see him until he heads home tomorrow...kids..got to laugh, even at their age they still keep me in stitches...
Christine just called, they are about an hour away, says she'll drop in for her treasures and visit awhile, in the meantime, back to the drawing board, want to have that flower shed/outhouse look done by tomorrow night..who knows, might even have to go shopping for flowers to set inside...
Stacey, hope you are well today, no sickness to speak of..that little one just has to stretch and wiggle around for a bit, nine months is a long time being cooped up...bet you are excited to get with all the ladies and enjoy being motherly spoilt and baby shower to boot...counting the days?
Hmm wouldn't you know, got all the tools outside, got the base done, matching up planks to get approximately the dimension I need for each side before cutting and it's clouded over, looks like the rain they said we'd have yesterday will be here shortly..drats..
So I'll find something I can eat for lunch, give it time to pass over and then hopefully can work at my project!
Betty, that mirror is beautiful! Can't wait to see where you place it in the garden!
Sure hope the rain passes so you can get your outhouse done!
Wow! That bike must be hard to ride, all stretched out like that!
How are you feeling LindaKay, back to your old self?
Kyle's been riding the bike all over town, bit harder than a regular bike I would imagine..
As for the garden shed, slow going, I'll work on it again tomorrow...won't overdo, already had Greg giving me the riot act...
Didn't rain after all, no sooner did the sun come out that it was time to head to Charlene's birthday party...they are doing fireworks and a bonfire with marshmallows tonight but I was ready to come home relax for awhile, might do a bit more on the t-shirt I'm working on then early night..tired...here's the firepit they made, you can sit on the rock while watching and cooking your marshmallows...
Whew!! LOL Stacey! It's true though!! Wait til you read what happened over there, this is how his family gets things screwed up
"The rest of the story"
So we went over to Dave's dad's house so Dave could talk to him about how to clean up the mess. We get there, Dad's not there, we were told by his wife that he would be there after noon. I call her "#8" lol Bobbie was out watering. We couldn't see 'a mess' to say, I mean their elderly and their house is old and Dave's dad's lived there forever, so you know... Dave said, "So Bobbie, where's Dad and what about this citation you got." She said, "Oh Dave, there was no citation, I've just been complaining that he needs to clean up the back yard." Dave says, "Oooookkaaaayyyy, where's Pops?" She said, "He works 12 hours on Saturdays, 9am to 9pm." OMG!!! So we go into the back yard and OOOOHHHHHH what the mess, I mean 1920's horse trailer that's rusted to the max, I think there was a camper but not sure, metal boxes for something, tires galore, found a few toilets, kitchen sinks, lots of tall grass around all of this crap, a few 1980's models small cars, and I could keep going. We talk to Bobbie for a minute and go around the corner to his aunt Eller's house (she just lives 1 1/2 blocks away.)
Now, her daughter Teresa (another family alcoholic and the sister of Robert mentioned in the previous post) lives with her and said she would be home from work at 3pm. It's now 3:30pm when we pull in, Teresa's there with a small group of her friends, but no Eller. We get out of the truck and Dave asks Teresa where Eller is, Teresa says (I kid you not) "Oh she doesn't get off work until 5pm on Saturdays." Good Grief! I was not happy by this point so I just turned to go look at the computer, which there happens to be absolutely nothing wrong with. Teresa came in and told me that she doesn't know why Eller said that it had lights blinking, there's nothing blinking and it works perfectly fine!" OMG!!!! So Dave mowed the lawn and put Teresa's window AC in for her, and we waited around for Eller to get home and Dave put her window AC in when she did. Had a very short visit and took ourselves out to Mexican dinner.
This happens all the time, anytime someone in the family tries to plan anything.
Today was much better, we went to a bbq at some friends house we lost contact with a couple of years ago, definitely got that friendship back. Woo Hoo!! Had a great time, ate some good food, and had great conversation. Now back to work tomorrow!
Hello To All;
LOL Betty - You had "Crawfish Bisque"... they stuff the body of the crawfish and cook it with the stew. I'm not too crazy about it but it's probably going to become a lost dish... most young ppl don't prepare it. I read a tripadvisor review and laughed..the writers were from out of town and didn't realize it's custom to prepare it this way. Please come visit anytime ! We do get a lot of French & Canadian visitors due to the heritage of the locals... (DH Is of "Cajun" descent).
Love Kyle's bike! wonder where they found that tire....very expensive I imagine...
Betty I do think it's a talent.... I see DH make things I would have never imagined some of it from pure junk (example: the border on our beds DH painted cement test plugs to look like small logs)... I'll try to see things differently....but it is a wonderful talent you have!
WAVING TO LK, Stacie, Liz, Crissy, Barb...
Barb... Having ridden one... (or attempted to) I can truly say that polo would be VERY difficult on a segway... much SO much fun !
Stacie - Time is getting close ! Is the nursery done?
Crissy - sounds like they seem to think that you & Dave have nothing to do but come fix all their problems... ! Glad you ended up with a good weekend though!
I'll pop back on in a bit !
Hugs,
Mary
Good morning, it's a glorious holiday Monday..sunshine abound, bird tweeting and I've already been outside with the mosquito's for well over 2 hrs. working on my project...
What I need to find is a MAN...or a 2nd pair of hands..have all the panels done except for front because I have to figure that one out once the back and 2 sides have been attached to the frame..omg, was just going to say, don't want to call anyone this early, but time has flown, just looked at the clock, if everyone is still sleeping then they best get up..lol..guess my call will do it!
Crissy, a week with me will certainly be dull after all that activity..can you take dull?
Mary, must have been crawfish bisque, going back a long time but I can still remember it's not a soup I want to try again, probably tasted out of this world, just didn't like skeletons floating in my soup..
Off to find a 'body'....wish me luck
Oh no Mary-not close at all-I'm not due til Oct. if I am able to go full term...
Morning Stacey! How you doing today? Have you been able to get any gardening done this year?
Betty, don't you go and over do it today!
Just finished the panels, Greg/Mel and the boys are off to Paramount Canada's wonderland theme park today, that's what I get for getting them season passes, off enjoying while I look for help..shouldn't be spending this beautiful day working anyway, finished the panels, put tools away, might cut grass and then sit and enjoy..might even attempt b.b.q.'ing tonight.. haven't heard from Jeff so guess he's having a wonderful weekend at the cottage..
It's absolutely gorgeous outside..the best..listening to all the birds sing me their favorite songs...
Shoots, went outside to take photo of the panels to post, up in a corner of a garden is a bench that I keep saying needs painting, so plans just changed..lol..getting my sander to sand and will repaint, forgot to cover it this winter..me bad..most likely won't take more than 1/2 hr...THEN it's relaxation, promise...
HAPPY VICTORIA DAY Betty.. Hope this holiday is wonderful for you and that you get that MAN!!!!
lol..thanks Barb, drats, hope you have a MAN you can bring up from USA, can't seem to find one up here, at least not today! lol
Got the bench painted..wondering what to have for lunch, might take a ride to the lake, about 1 mile away, there's a concession stand with hot dogs, sausage dogs etc. - much easier than cooking right?
Sounds really good to me!! I keep looking at the map and plotting ways to get to you from here. We rode by the resort where Bernie was and it is 13.2 miles from my door. I keep dreamin"
In the fall if I still have some vacation time maybe I'll get them book the resort for me, might be a nice escape AND a visit with a friend..by the way, got your first card and thought , 'she must have put the card inside an envelope addressed to me' so I didn't open it, then several days later a card came same day as a parcel so I started to open a corner but when I saw your name I looked at the envelope and here it was for Mike and Ann, then went on to open my 1st card from you..thank you sweetie, sure makes one feel good to get such a card...this is the official move for Mike and Ann, I'll let her get settled this weekend and one night I'll take a ride over on my bike..she'll be touched by your gesture of kindness...
Just had a nice bath, getting into shorts, had lunch, moved some plants around..had to put the bench back in it's corner under the shade, sun is so hot that it was starting to bubble..not perfect by any means but a clean coat of paint does wonders...no more so must mark down the tint color before I throw the can away..
Off to relax....
I can't beleive how long it took to get that card for Ann to you in Canada. I sent it as soon as we spoke about her. Anyway, I pray things are going smoothly for their move and also prayers for Mike.
Have a great rest of the day and YES _ RELAX!!!!!
I called in sick today, made the huge mistake of making tuna and crackers right before bedtime. Oh that wasn't a good idea. I won't be doing that again lol! I feel much better now and since I'm going to my mom's on Friday I've made it a 3 day week! Betty I can't wait to come up, I think I need some serious time away from here.
Betty I don't think it's going to be a dull time, anytime is better than that time. That's ridiculous!
Worst:
The sale of our trailer fell through.
The buyer decided they didn’t like the amount it would cost to move the trailer, so they pulled out of the sale. They even had bank drafts and had ½ filled out the application for rental in the park when they asked for the phone # of a trailer mover. The mover said it would cost $5,000 to $10,000 to move it, and the buyer didn’t like that, so they cancelled.
We even had the realtor here with the paperwork to put an offer on a house we wanted..... ah well.............
Best:
Well, we may get a better offer, once the City decides to tell us how much they will pay towards the move.......... MAYBE.........
Dunno what I learned about anything today....... just feeling strange about all of this.
Susan - I am So sorry to hear that... Perhaps that just means something better is around the corner....
Sending "Good Vibes" your way....and praying for you!
Hugs,
Mary
Susan you must be hearbroken..the ups/downs of it all, no wonder you are feeling strange..perfectly natural that you do..how discouraging..guess there was no leadway into negotiating part of the move fees? As Mary said, just maybe something better is around the corner for you..Lord works in mysteious ways....
Sunshine is beaming through the window here, hard to see the screen, sure wish the boat was in the water, no wind, hot/hot, perfect day to call in sick..drats...maybe I'll save the special sick day for later..
2 of the 3 skyrockets cedars died out front, pulled them out, next door neighbor works at home depot where I purchased them, tag still on the trees but no receipt, he said he'd take them in and get me a store credit which is nice of him..poor soul, he worked in that heat all weekend with ties making flower beds for his wife, exhausted and burnt he was last night, told him that it would be thrilling to go to work for a rest this morning...hardly had the energy to shake his head 'yes'..going to ask the nursery if they know of a shrub that grows tall that would like shade. if I can't find a substitute then I'll have to get the cedars again...
Hidden in the back side garden is the finished red bench, church plant sale this weekend so I'll purchase hosta's and other plants for this area..morning glories to plant on the fencing will make all the difference
Coffe time, few errands to run before work so best I be moving
Best of my weekend: Enjoying my gardens
Worse of my weekend: not getting my flower shed completely
finished
What did I learn: Patience
Sounds like your weekend turned out pretty well anyway. The bench looks spectacular. Any chance of a new thread? This takes a while to load...
Here we are...
Waving to all, ask that you come visit .. love to hear about your day...both the ups and the downs...
