Yea Betty, same line of work. It's a Production Planner/Scheduler for a plastics molding company in Hot Springs. The drive would be much easier for him too. We don't want to grow up!! LOL!!
Best/Worse and what did I learn today?visit with friends...
Here's hoping he gets it Crissy...what a day, almost every 1/2 hr. it goes from high winds to cloudy with a few drops of rain to sunshine..I've put on and taken off my coat so many times today that it made me tired..of course all the work I got done didn't help matters..lol
Greg dropped in to bring me my cement, OMG he's such a fuss pot..I had to get the broom so he could sweep his truck, said there was white powder on the floor of it..I want to say, 'Greg, lighten up it's a truck' but for someone who washes the truck each and every day it's not something he'd appreciate me saying..I'd better keep on his good side...he's been doing mega errands and projects for me...
This afternoon he is working on the chain section of his bike, yikes she's a big one
then Cathy came over, took over the lawnmower and told me to do something else..so edged about 4 gardens..even have blisters, just goes to show you how hard I worked..
Have to say 'thank goodness for friends - sure am blessed'...
Then Aline dropped over, heard that I was making lap afghans as Christmas gifts for the seniors home..over she came with a box to include with mine..about 5 lap covers and 3 shawls, kind you slip your hands into and they cover your back..nice idea, easy to make so I'll give myself a break and make some of them for a change of pace..
Rita, Cathy's mom came over to see what everyone was doing, sat and had coffee, by the time we gabbed and most of my energy was gone I decided to call it a night...
Both Cathy and her mom left for home chattering away and laughing, a warm bath certainly would warm me up..oh/oh still have to go up the back concession and get the rhubbarb, it's needed for tomorrows projects..hmmmm
Then I notice that the light was flahsing on the telephone....3 messages, hmmm, it was Carol calling to say she was bringing along 2 more ladies, says from all the years we've done group crafting I've always had plenty of extra's...guess she knows me by now..could have used more cement, maybe a quick trip into Home Depot before they all arrive tomorrow morning might be in order...
No sooner did I take that call did Greg call to say the boys would come for supper..seems Kyle was up helping him until 1:30am and had to be at Cadet's for 6:00 a.m. - day of training and riding a helicopter so by the time he comes home at 6:00 he'll be tired ..Greg and Mel are going out so leaving Kyle and his brother together when both are tired is NOT a good thing, Greg thought a visit with grandma tonight might be in order...
Soooo it's been a busy/busy day but an enjoyable one..keep looking at the weather forecast in hopes no rain tomorrow, seems on the cool side but none expected..
Everyone should arrive between 8:30 - 9:00am..I'm organized, I'm ready...so early night for me, still mega weeding in the gardens before they get here...
Best of the day...just everyone coming and going, helping me out, making my life easier
Worse of the day...friend is having both breasts off next week...
What did I learn...that when you think your load is going to be heavy, others are more than willing to make it light!!!
Hope you enjoyed your day....
Betty, Your worse of the day ....can turn into a very good thing...if it ends your friend of cancer!!!! My Momma had that done, and has been "clean" ever since ^_^ she had six operations and many rounds of treatment prior......the removal was the greatest thing for her!!!
she jokes now, and says she gets to wear smaller clothes now ! "and you know smaller clothes are nicer !!" she has always had an awesome attitude with the whole situation!!
Powerful statement Thunder, yes, could be the best thing that happened to her...Ann didn't call again this weekend, I'll wait to speak with her tomorrow, know her well, when things go bad she stays inside herself...prayers for Mike..
DIL's cousin who had tried suicide last year and was undergoing therapy and escaping with her life after jumping in front of a truck was doing well or so her family thought..she committed suicide by jumping in front of a go train on Friday...so sad for her family...some fight for their lives and some (due to severe depression) do everything not to live...always boggles my mind...
Noah came over to keep me company yesterday afternoon, so enjoy his visits..
Kyle spent the day at Base Borden, was so expressive in his description of his flight in a fighter hellicopter..today he's back again and if winds were ok was going to fly what he calls the bird with no engine...kids are growing so very quickly..I find that sad!!!
He got home about 6:30pm, just in time for supper..said the only thing he had at Base Borden was hamburger, pop and chips..he was a hungry young man..
My friend and I must have done something worthwhile because the Lord gave us to perfect day to play...
Good company, lots of laughs, good food and now I'm zonked..tired as can be..
It's been a spectacular sunshine day, both weatherwise and friendship wise...they not only did the 3 projects but I got to add another...needless to say all were pleased!
They were no sooner finished that they asked if they could do a fall get together and do the garden bench and chair...yikes, I've made workshop monsters out of all of them...
Think I'll take a quick run into town, few things I need and Giant Tiger has the large patio umbrella's on sale..last day today .. if I rush out now I just might make it before closing...
Hope you enjoyed your day as well...
Hello To All !!!

Graduation is tomorrow. I'm going in to work....then lunch with family at Cracker Barrel 12n... then meet at my house... Graduation at LSU 5pm-7pm... then dinner with all at a nearby restaurant.... then back to my house for (hopefully ) a cake that I will order tomorrow... everything's last minute what with our trip taking time out from planning stuff...
Hugs to all,
Mary
congrats Mary and to your son too!! glad your trip was great!!!
Morning,
Mary, it brought joy to my heart to see you enjoying your time with DS..today's another big day for you..enjoy it to the fullest..
Congratulations to the Graduate..
Wow Betty those are gorgeous! Glad you had a good time out there. LOL Dave washes his truck every day too, drives me nuts. I got him good last night, it was hilarious. We were watching an ad about the new Karate Kid coming out and Dave says,
"If the kid is learning Kung Foo, why don't they just call it The Kung Foo Kid?"
I said, "Maybe they already had a Kung Foo Kid that was a complete flop and they don't want to make a sequel out of a movie that was a flop, usually the sequels flop more than the original movies do."
He said, "But the rights to buy it would be a lot cheaper."
I said, "What good would that do if it flopped?"
He said, "Well I'm just saying!"
I said, "I'm just saying!"
By now we're both laughing so hard we can barely talk, he said, "You've been hanging around the wrong group of friends. You need to get off of your high horse."
I cracked up even more and said, "I don't have a group of friends to hang around because you moved me 2000 miles away from them. You just don't want to be proven wrong, cause you think you're Mr. Right!"
He said, "No, that wouldn't be me! I'm just saying..." then he went outside because he had a hot flash.
Congrats Mary and Son!! Glad your trip was awesome!
I'll try to come back in a little bit, got to get to work here.
well, going to be a nice looooooong weekend for me.
I'm taking Friday and Tuesday off, so will have 5 days in total.
I'm going to learn how to ride my new bike!!!!
Susan how wonderful, you deserve the days off..do you have trails in your neck of the woods, after that terrible accident in Quebec where 3 cyclist were killed and 3 critical you don't want to take chances..let's hope Mother Nature co-operates and we've nothing but sunshine..
Frazzled woman here. Wow it has been quiet!
The Hub has been on vacation since last weekend, and just went back today. Thank heavens!
We did have a couple interesting days, going to the Lilac Festival in Rochester, but they bloomed so early, not as many to see in full glory.
So much going on as usual.
Mary, Congratulations to you and your DS! Wow! I know how you feel, next year is my "baby" graduating...the last one. I am having issues with him just going to Prom in a couple weeks.
I have to share my very good surprise last night. I have a secret "son" Justin, whom as called me Mom since he was 9 years old. He was a neighbor boy, whom lost his mom to heart disease at a very early age. Anyway.....he is in the Army for six years now. He has already been to Iraq and is stationed in Germany now. Last night, there was a knock at our front door....and there was my Justin! I can't tell you the tears....and how happy I was to have my arms around that kid! He had spent over 18 hours on a plane....layovers and so much else....and seeing us was his second stop once he hit the ground! I can't wait to spend more time with him during the next two weeks.
The best part, was seeing Justin when he looked at Shane. He used to carry Shane all over the place, buy him legos and Power Rangers. And now Shane is about six to eight inches taller than Justin!
Tubby, Bev, and all needing prayers....I am sending them your way. I think of you all each day.
I have house full of "sickies" with nasty colds and allergies. Ready for a time out!
Debbie
Debbie
That is so sweet of you..
Thank You
Tubby
Hello To All !!!
Thank you Deb, Crissy & Betty & barefoot :) (and etc.)
DS is Graduated.
I am exhausted.
Hugs,
Mary
Hello everyone. I am back from my Washington trip! it is so pretty over there! The State flower is the rhododendron, and oh boy are they beautiful, and in so many colors! I am going to try to find one to buy online, and see if I can get it to grow in the shade here. This is a yellow one in my Brothers back yard.
You all have been so busy gardening, and crafting... Sure hope everyone is doing fine?
Betty so sorry to hear about your DIL's cousin, that killed herself! Must have been so depressed to do something like that? Sending lots of prayers for the family.
Tubby sounds like your doing well?
Off to read all the threads I ahve missed.
Later
LK
Best part of coming to the threads, hearing what friends are up to and looking at the beautiful flowers/shrubs..
Glad your back safely Lindakay, bet the house seems empty without 'dad' about..
I believe I have one in my garden Linda Kay but it's a coral Rhododendron, saw that it was opening when I was pulling weeds last night, will check tonight for the tag..mine is 2 years old and has wintered well...
Debbie I remember you telling me about Justin and how he's like a 2nd. son..what a surprise..will he spend some time with you? Can just see you at the door, tears falling, hugs and jumping up and down...hope you get to spend mega time with him..you said you were his 2nd stop, his first was ????? How's Paul doing? Lilac Festival sounds wonderful, mine are in full bloom now, most likely another week and they'll be finished...
Your garden photo's everyone are spectacular..I won't have any beauties to share for yet a few more weeks if not a month, so I'll enjoy yours for now..
Mary when you finally wake, please post a few photo's..love to see them..
Only 12 here today, overcast, not the nicest..keep checking long weekend weather forecast and right now it's rain/rain/rain..let's hope within the next few days some of your nice weather hits our region..
It it does rain, maybe I'll take a quick trip to Buffalo/Niagara Falls Saturday..besides I'm in a swap and need Christmas material..now why didn't I purchase yardage when they were getting rid of it in January???
Betty, his first was his Dads house....as it should have been.
He was "hiding" from his little brother, as he wanted to go to school on Monday morning and surprise him.....which he did.
He is home for a family wedding, but I get him a couple days next week....with "Mom will you make me some speghetti" things....yeah, you bet!
Oh Debbie, just what you needed to lift your spirits..will the girls come home to join in the festivities..spaghetti is always a favorite of mine as well...
Thought 1st stop would be his dad's if he wasn't married...how proud you must be of him...I've a few boys that lived at my house growing up (parents were in Germany) and still to this day I'm treated as well as any mom when they see me...one I call Eddie Haskell, if you watched Leave it to Beaver you'll know that he was loveable yet mischievious...lol...
Are you getting same weather as I am?
Oooh one of the girls that came to our Sunday workshop brought (it was pot luck) a dish that was to die for...
they had 4 skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of a baking dish, spread cheese on top of the breasts, added spices (your liking) then mixed a box of dressing in with a can of diced tomatoes, mixed the dressing so that it absorbed the juice of tomatoes, spread it over the chicken & cheese, added more cheese on the top..wow it was delicious and a quick meal to put together....
Betty, that sounds just like Justin, Eddie Haskell! LOL Yes, I remember the Beaver VERY well.
I am going to try and get the girls here...but his days off are days the girls are working, so will see what can happen. Shane is making him a meal also. LOL
Paul is adjusting to his limited eyesite in left eye...has his new glasses. Enjoyed a week of rest on vacation. I didn't even give him projects, just let him do his thing.
The lilacs are pretty much finished in my yard. My clematis from Mom is in full bloom and beautiful right now. I walk out the door and say "Good morning Mom, thank you"
I need to get some food...been doing too much and didn't have breakfast.
That dish sounds good Betty....will write it out for a later date.
Betty that does sound delicious! I didn't eat breakfast either Debbie, too busy looking at flights and what-not.
Deb- what a wonderful surprise for you. Please be sure to give your "other son" lots of hugs and THANK YOUs from all of us. We are grateful for his service.
I had to chuckle when you spoke of saying "Good morning" to your clematis. My Mom's favorites were pansies and I have one here that comes up every year(even though they are an annual). It has bloomed also and I too say "Good Morning Mom" as I pass by. It does just make you feel good.....
Barb, you are so right...it makes you feel great! This clematis was taken from Moms house....and it didn't regrow at all the first year. And last year....nothing! I was sure it was dead. I had a talk with Mom when I was having a very rough day, told her I needed some sort of sign.....and the next morning I went out....and there were two leaves on it.
This is it yesterday morning....
You feeling any better Barb? Glad you have a plant to talk to as well...
Can't believe Debbie that you've got clematis in bloom, lordy, mine are but 1 1/2 tall, couple of stragglies..your mom is indeed saying good morning to you..even though we are so close you are so ahead in the blooming dept. - would you say this is early for you? You JUST have to take photo's of Justin for us...please, pretty please?
last night when I was weeding I came across a strange plant, wondered what it was then remembered two seasons ago I bought a plant called 'ROGER'S PLANT' .. moved it 2 or 3 locations as it wasn't doing well, Roger wasn't a plant person and I thought it was his way of saying 'no plant for me' but this year it looks strong and is growing to beat the dickens...so I'll make sure I pay special attention to it..
Glad Paul got to rest..now see Debbie, had you had passports you could have escaped for a few days and come to visit.. going to get you here somehow...
ooops Bev, hugs for Scotty and Tubby I'm waving ...
