Every season the hill at Joe Pye Weed is different. fantastic planting. Siberians are in the flat land behind.
What have you ordered 2010 #6
nice work JoAnn
I couldn't decide what to do with the caladiums... so some are going in foil pans.. and some in cow pots.. figured if they are the ones going in the ground I only have to mess with them once in those.. the clumps fit perfect in the bigger size
thanks Robin, should I plant them in a container or just leave them be in the box?
I kept a plastic cookie container from BJ's that I'm going to put my caladiums in, could also use as a mini greenhouse.
I always save the grape tomato containers too... nice little seed starters
You guys are too much.
Next trip there Bill bring the camera. Must have been a nice trip. How many sibs did you pick up?
JoAnn your extension is looking good. Looks like it has always been that way. Nice job.
I agree, JoAnn....it's just begging for plants now. Rama, I've planted some in a large plastic bucket, but I have another 10 or so I will plant directly....some of the dahlias bloom late, & we get an early frost, so I try to have some early blooms.
The extension did work out great. DD used to get tangled up in the spruce branches mowing. We widened the mulch under the trees and made a nice curve that included the walk to the Woodswalk garden. Now to get someone to edge.
between polly and jpw i have 22 iris to plant - which will be a chore - have colors and heights written down now need to figure out where:)
added another shirazz to my davidsan order today - one gallon 40" trees for $40.00 - takes full sun and very hardy.
I didn't know you could buy wine at the garden centres in MA. COOL!
not sure you would have to call - i have several trees coming
I added a couple more Japanese Maples to aTopiary garden order. Satsuki Beni and Shishio hime along with Koto Hime. I still want a Shirazz. I will be looking for one when we have the truck off island next week.
Ge1836 and Victor, I can't wait to see your new extensions. Blond or Brunette? Our new bed is ready to plant except that I am waiting on orders that are being shipped this week...Avant. Garden Crossing, and Lazy S'S. I have a coop order coming from Bluestone too, but that won't be here for another 10 days.
Wha, Sounds like a great haul of Sibs that you will have to plant this year. I am hoping that I have a great show from ones that we have planted over the last few year. I have some patches that will need dividing this year. I need to order from JPW. Boojum recommends them too. Patti
Guess I missed the Bluestone co-op. Let us know what the plants are like.
My extentions would be white so I could go cheap and use frayed nylon rope.
I am not sure what I will plant there. It will be next year at any rate.
Celeste, that shot really helps as I am going to need fruit trees at some point and I will order from them. Thanks.
Ge1836, that coop was from that other site. I will report how they look as it has to be double shipped which is never as good, but the 50% off was hard to pass up. Bluestone always has good stuff, but small. Fine with me. Patti
BULBOUS ALERT! BULBOUS ALERT! Luv these little guys. They too have to be staked in my garden when they flower though. http://us1.campaign-archive.com/?u=4c20053acfbe8b488caadd355&id=51e2637567&e=c3740a0017
Looking good pixie. Our little apple tree actually has booms this year. Usually they are attacked by one caterpillar or another before I can get them. Seems to be a much less number of winter moth damage so far this year. Maybe all the torrential rains a few weeks ago washed all the eggs away or the wasp they were letting out to attack them has moved in. Or maybe things just have opened up so early they missed the hatch time already.
Hope your new babies grow and thrive for you. Looks like you are off to a great start.
LUV the fruit trees Pixie.
Patti the small plants are easier to get in the ground.
I wait for the mid-may sale as a rule.
I planted 2 Salvia Carradonnas in gallon pots. Nearly killed me digging the holes, not to mention getting the plants in straight.
The tree's were all approx. 4.5 to 5 feet tall, but the roots is what i need to be healthy for them to get a good start here. I worry about the "S" word and "F" with new roots....these look like they will survive fine!
i have had good luck with starks too!
Waiting to share the fruit with you, Pixie! That's a nice buy on the glads, Dnut, but once again I ordered too many. Good thing I'm cutting back on the veggie garden, I'll have more room there.
received a couple boxes today - 8 different geranium from gereniaceae, all look very good - and a couple campanula (punctata plum wine & sarastro) , sedum larinem park and Lychnis rose campion from Romance Gardens - first order from them and i am not dissapionted the plants are bigger than most garden centers sell. i just hope i researched those campanula and they are not invasive - just spent 30 minutes weeding out runners from camp. wedding bells - should have just dug up the two plants, do not care for the flower this will be its last chance.
Received a partial order from Guerney's yesterday. Mini roses, meadow rue and a clem (Barbara). All arrived in good shape, potted.
What mini roses did you get Frank65?
I also have an invasive campanula someone gave me...think it's Joan Elliot...I pulled out about 24 plants, but there are at least that many left. I ordered campanula Pantaloons, but didn't get it yet.
Hey Bill watch the campanuls sarastro. If you dont dead head it will go all over.
Got the first box in my large groundcover order today. Four more boxes due tomorrow! I took a four day weekend so I can plant. Hopefully that's enough time for 1100 plants (vinca, phlox, juniper)!
Oh my goodness Songs, your gonna be VERY busy!!
Yup. First I gotta finish spreading the 10 yards of compost mix I got. Fortunately, my wonderful husband already spread half of it today on his day off :)

thanks joann
Nice DH, love it when they pitch in like that! ^_^
Wow - 1100!!
Yah, but they are just little sprigs... :-)
I would love a ton of sprigs of creeping phlox to fill them in quicker!!!
What made you decide on those three?
