System Issues (Part III)

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

I usually read the articles early - except Fridays because I'm swamped until after lunch...

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I can edit it and clean it up. (I tried a line) but thought before I did the housekeeping, tech ought to see it.

Thanks for the report.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I cleaned it up...I think it was just some stray html in there. Thanks for the report and screenshot. I didn't see it in FF, and wouldn't have thought to open it in I.E. ;o)

Lula, GA(Zone 7b)

Problem with updating journal: I was cloning, editing, etc. and it kept giving error messages re: server.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

You're welcome ladies! I'm stuck with IE at work so always nice when Dave's is having a nice IE compatible day;o)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Indeed! Please do take another look and let us know if you spot anything else amiss.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

That's weird, I copied and pasted the odd text I saw, and it didn't show in my post! Thanks for posting the page shot, localkelly, that's what I saw, too. I was in IE, as I was at the library at the time.
I don't see it now on my home computer in Firefox.

I'm using IE. I clicked on "Home" in DG, and got the following:

Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()

Session halted.

This isn't the first time - yesterday it did the same thing when I tried to access the Cactus & Succulents forum. In each case I used my "back" button and was able to get back to where I started, and when I again tried to access the C&S forum yesterday and my "Home" tab today I was able to do so.

AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

We have encountered some these from time to time - if you immediately try refreshing the page, or clicking on the tab or link again, the system will respond. But I will make sure the tech team knows they are still occurring.

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, I know how to "fix" it for the moment, but I thought you wanted to know about System Issues.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

We do want to know, but we're also here to try to give you solutions when they are available ;o)

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I sign in, go to TX Gardening and after a few clicks...get kicked off. Go thru same process, and get kicked off again! I tried at least 4 times this morning to see the photos from the RU this weekend. I could click a few and then get re-directed to the ads page. Let me know when I should get paranoid.... It's not the first time. Happened last month when I was looking thru Plant Files. Kept getting message that I was not a member.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

That sounds like something in your browser settings (we don't kick out people like that ;o)

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Bubbles ~ it does, on occasion log off and ask me to log on again. Sometimes more frequently than others. Is that what is happening?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, I was using Explorer, never had problem before,...will try Firefox.....but am going to reserve the right to be paranoid,... just in case!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Podster, we cross posted. Yep, that's what it does. Was particularly annoying this morning as I was trying to see the pics from the RU and would have to keep logging in...

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't think it is you or IE. For some reason DG has fits & spasms of doing that. Then it may not do it for a stretch. Don't know why and it is not just your computer. It will do it on both home and work computers.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

ZAP!!!!

Quoting:
Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()

Session halted.
just got punished 9:14am ~ lol

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Pod...I should have asked you first!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

yep, I got one of those too...just as I tried to sign on with Firefox....same time.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

I got a newsletter today, thank you!!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Bubbles ~ please... don't ask me first! LOL I am about as computer illiterate as it gets. When I think I've figured something out, my chain gets jerked hard.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

you're too funny!

Encino, CA(Zone 9a)

Hmm. This (getting logged off indiscriminately) sounds like it may be something on our end. We run the site using a number of webservers (so we can make it fly) and we may be taking people in and out of them which may cause the server to not recognize that you're logged in.

I'll have the tech team dig in and see what they can find.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you very much.... it can be most irritating. Your assistance will be appreciated.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

The timestamp is now off by + one hour. I think that it started being wrong late last week or over the weekend. I am GMT+9, no daylight savings time.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Your time stamp is something that is pretty easy for you to update - click on the "My Info" link (in the bar of links, just beneath the tabs across the top)

Then click on "Manage your preferences" - you'll see a pulldown list of times to choose from. Warning: it's a long list, so you may have to scroll up after you pull it down to find yours ;o)

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

It still shows Korean Standard Time...

PERTH, Australia

Testing.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Your profile preference was set to Korean Standard Time. I moved it to GMT+9 - is it correct now?

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

It is showing 12:39, it is 11:39

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

that may be a glitch in the programming - is this a new phenomen, that you aren't recognizing DST? If so, then set your personal profile to GMT+8, and it *should* be correct ;o)

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

It is a new "problem" that just popped up. I'd guess that it has something to do with IB's server-moving & whatever else that they are doing. It started late last week or this weekend.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Could it be related to the daylight savings time change and I only noticed it now? I don't even remember when y'all changed your clocks...

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

In the U.S., we changed to DST in March.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Can you fix it to where GMT+9 does not change when y'all change to DST?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Each of the time zones is *supposed* to change if/when you actually do in your area..but if the rules change occasionally that could cause problems. I'll see what the tech team can do ;o)

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Hmm, THIS country doesn't have DST, but I don't know about all of the others in this time zone...
Thanks for your help ^_^

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

JuneyBug, I've got this on my list of things to mention in a meeting later today ;o)

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I just got that glitch that results in the database error, the same error msg that many people have reported. I had clicked on the "Home" tab. The page was taking a long time to update. Then I was redirected to the page with the error msg. I immediately tried again. This time everything worked fine.

This is the 1st time I've seen this error in a week or so. Just keeping you apprised of what's going on.
