Shes about too... #49

Nita this beautiful "Isabella" has been in my sun room since last summer. Has been in the ground I think 3 weeks. This is the only one budding. Most of mine aren't showing signs of coming back yet. I have 6 that have come back up, and I'm sure hoping all the others will too.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I just love my Isabella, and you will too!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, did you make it thru the storms? We had horrible winds and down pours, but no tornado. Poor OkCity. We have a division down there and everyone was trying to get out of the office early to get home because they were saying it is going to be bad.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

our twn made it thru just fine, my college girl in ark city spent the nite in a safe shelter...she is scared to death of tornadoes, I have no clue why, we only sat on the porch to watch them just a few times in her life LOL

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I am so glad yo are all well and safe. Hugs.JB

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Me too. I couldn't believe what a mess that storm left behind.

Debra, if that's Speedwell "Alba" yours is way ahead of mine.

Susan, that is snow Nymph salvia. I have three starts going right now. The will be in your box. I am not mailing out on any day except mondays now. There will be other things in that box besides the sweet autumn. Just in time for you!
Here is Cherub, from a root ball on a trade.

Cool, Debra. I don't have that one and am quickly becoming a nut for Salvias and Agastaches. The only Salvia I have so far is May Night. My photo is from April 22nd. Would you or anyone else like to have a start?

happ, so far the Agastache cuttings are perky except for Summer Glow, it did not like being cut and is limping along, but I'm pretty sure they've all rooted and should be ready to mail next week. I started cuttings for you and two other people for trades. If anyone else would like rooted cuttings, I'll be glad to start them for you. The Agastaches I have are Summer Glow, Summer Sky, Raspberry Summer, Golden Jubilee, and Tutti Fruiti.

Goodddddddd Morning!
Debra & Susan I love your flowers but they are Greek to me. Have no idea what I just read. LOL, don't be surprised, happens to me a lot.
Hugs

datzu, Welcome to my world. LOL! I have no clue what some of those plants are but I just look and listen and hope it sinks in someday. Have a good one.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Well I never heard of a Brug til I ran into you last year, Faye and Happ.

OK, if I've grown it or drooled over it at a nursery or greenhouse or watched it in my neighbor's gardens I might remember the name. Plus y'all know how neurotic I am about plant markers. Don't know how I ever lived without Google or DG Plant Files...LOL

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

And I never put name tags until I joined DG, now I want names on everything.
Me too JB, I love looking at the plants even if I have no clue what they are . Check out my "Angel"
"Angel Wing Begonia" Have several of these because it just kept growing and I kept breaking it back and sticking the broken piece in the pot or another pot. The span on this plant is almost my arm reach.

Here is a pot full from the same Begonia. Big and blooming.

Showing one mort pic. taken this morning. Talking about clashing colors and still beautiful. There are Hibiscus, Butterfly Bush and Zennias here that aren't showing yet.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

A few more Caladiums and a lot of the Cannas I planted are peeking out. And I have scapes on a bunch of Daylilies. Heck, I didn't have a garden til I joined DG. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts tagging everything. Then when I share plants with her, weeks later when they bloom, she always wants to know their names, like I'm gonna remember...LOL Usually have to make a trip to her house, with more plants in tow. It's always so neat though having plants to share.

Does anyone recognize this beautiful bloom grown from a bulb I planted last Fall? Susie, it was in the mix you sent me.

Edited to say: Beautiful as always, Faye! Send that other pic when you have time.

Gee Frosted Fruit...looks like a Dutch iris to me. :0)

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Neener, for solving the mystery. I've never grown Dutch Iris so just call me a dufus. The bloom is still going strong and now fully open is larger than my hand.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

We miss you, LK, and can't wait for you to be back. Have a safe flight home from WA.

I tugged on the Agastache cuttings today, no sign of resistance, so I dug a few out of their holding pots and they have nice healthy roots. I'll mail your assortment this week, happ. That was so awful about Bill's greenhouse being blown away and a scary situation for you to be in just a few hours before. Are you doing OK?

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Me dufus too! Didn't post picture.

Close up of the "Border Lilies"

Thumbnail by dahtzu
Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh my, Faye, your Lilies are breathtaking. A few of mine have buds (thank you, happ!) and am waiting for the blooms. You're way ahead of me. Do you know the name of those Purple mounding flowers?

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

The purple is "Ice Plant" ground cover. It is beautiful.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the ID, Faye. Yours are so pretty spilling over.

We're about to have nasty thunder storms, so I'm shutting down and will see everyone tomorrow.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

dahtzu, your gardens are beautiful!
FOTV, I am so glad the lilies are doing good for you along with everything else.

We were all lucky to have been gone from the greenhouse and I am lucky it was east of my house so no damage to our place or the gardens. It has been so cold and wet here it just hasn't been any fun! I am putting on my winter junk coat and start planting today. I will look like a crazy person, but you do what you need to do....LOL

Hope everyone has a great day, later guys.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

aww Joyce I am sorry you got some damage and I am glad you guys are okay.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

We are fine, I didn't get anything compared to the rest.
Hey Debra have a question for you. How long does it take to start a morning glory from seed? Are they pretty fast growers. My sister game my Mom some kind of hanging thing like the tomato thing, but you are to put flowers in it and one of the suggestions are morning glories. I have seeds just never done it before.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OK, I have made a major screw up and I have to fess up.....
DH & I ran out of checks (don't use them much anymore), and we were waiting on checks to arrive, which they never have. Because it had been sooo long and I wanted to get the postage to you FOTV and TOD, for the ferns and the dahlias, I needed stamps, etc, I decided I would just get a money order and mail it to you.....so far so good. Friday at work was heck on wheels and I was suppose to leave on time at 2:30 because I had an appointment at 3:30, I got out of work at 3 but thought I still have time. In my purse I had an address label which I knew I had made one for you in advance, so I got the money order made it out and preceded to mail it to blueskyfd11, I know you don't live in PA and I know your name isn't Sandy. I just figured it out because I was cleaning out my purse and thought I need to email you and let your know, when I looked at the receipt! Holy Moley!
Dang I had to email poor blueskyfd11 and she doesn't know me from Adam, atleast not like you guys do....LOL
So Monday FOTV the check will be in the mail!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Joyce, are you sure you are not my real sister? LOL Sounds like something I would do. Yes plant those glorys. They will pop up in no time. I have glory plants growing everywhere.
This is creeping daisey around the euhporbia.

Thank you for the info Debra on the morning glories, on the other note I am so darned red faced......I can't believe I did that, well I can, but darn I wished I hadn't done that! Especially since I don't really know, the person I sent the check to, if it had been one of you, well I would of felt silly, but not quite as bad as I do now.....oh well she will never forget me....LOL

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

We're either long-lost Sisters or Double 1st cousins, happ! Since you sent to bluesky in our houseplant swap, that's probably the reason you still had her address in your purse. Sandy's a sweetheart and I'm sure she'll understand. I never intended for you to reimburse me postage for the ferns anyway since you sent that big bunch of EE's. I'm sure we'll either trade or be partnered again, so don't mail that check! The small plant I sent with your ferns named "Hairy Wandering Jew" was a joke since you mentioned how much the ferns looked like your early morning bed-head + your cat's name is Hairy. LOL

Of the 12 different kinds of MG seeds I had, all but 2 varieties sprouted. They're planted now around two telephone poles, one with Cannas and EE's and the other with Dahlias. Debra, do you soak your MG seeds or just plant them straight up? I soaked mine and in 24 hours they'd already sprouted in cups of water.

My girlfriend didn't soak her MG seeds, planted them directly in the ground last month, and hers germinated in three days. I noticed today hers have easily grown twice as large as mine. Go figure. Y'all wouldn't believe the size of her Hens & Chicks, many were ones I'd shared with her, and none of mine are half as large as hers. She really has a knack for H&C's and even has a clump growing on a rock with absolutely no soil and it has a perfect ring of chicks. So many others of hers growing in strawberry pots, or old boots, or seashells are as large as a Saucer! I've never seen such monster size H&C's like hers.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

bluesky dmailed me and we have it worked out, geez I hate causing her any problems!

Thanks for the tips on the morning glories. I am excited to try them. Isn't it amazing how you can give plants to friends, I have a friend that doesn't even "garden" per say, and hers just florish and grow and are abundant, whatever I give her! LOL

Hey, ok I really think this is our ee....LOL I know I have said that before. The thing that will decide for sure is when it blooms (that isn't what they call it) but from the bloom they can tell id for sure. So if yours blooms before mine take a pic and we will ask the people who know. This web site really looks like it. Someone suggested it on the inquiry I left. This gives you lots of tips, now maybe I understand why some of my leaves would flop.

By George, I think that's it too, happ. I just noticed today how satiny the new leaf is and there are several others emerging, can't tell yet if their from the Mother or from runners. It'll be fun to watch and see if it blooms and I'll definitely take a pic if it does since I've never seen an EE bloom. All the ones I've seen are in photos and remind me of Spaths when Peace Lilies bloom. Looks like I need to fertilize the heck out of it too. Great tips and website.....thank you for sharing!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I am glad you all are planting morning glories. I love them. I have about ahundred going on around here allready. I am growing hens and chicks for the first time successfully, given to me by a customer when I gave her a ride home. Some are in a sedum planter that never gets watered. some are in the strawberry planter with the other sedums. I took them as a challenge.
Here is Pink Thumbs, a Kansas native plant. Each leaf has a burgandy thumbrint on it.

Debra, what a funny plant and name. Hope the mg's grow for me.

fotv, that ee in the web site really looks like ours and sounds like all the characteristics that mine has displayed. Those runners are really funny. I noticed this runner starting to creep out the top of the pot, then down the side of the pot (which it was really a tall pot) and down into the dirt where it rooted and put up another plant. It was fun watching it. All the blooms I have had on my ee's look like you say big spath flowers, but apparently they must look different some how.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

That's a cool plant. Nature never ceases to amaze.

;o((((( This is my pouty face. I love MG I managed them one year here, but there just isn't enough sun. So sad. Enjoy them for me...

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Neener, what you need are JMGs they like part sun and light shade. I will send you some. Hang them in a basket.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Whatever those "EE's" are, went to the site and that leaf is beautiful. Never seen one so big and shiny.
Happ, I would love to see the one you described running down the pot and taking root. Picture please.
I love Morning Glories and had one growing on the back fence last year now I have had to pull up what seems like hundreds of new ones up, just top many. Mine was the wild one with different colors. Is there one that isn't invasive?
Hugs to all.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Faye, you need a japanese I.nil. They r not invasive..do you want some?

Thumbnail by joeswife
Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Gosh Debra, that is so pretty. What ever you have that pretty, I will want. Thank you! Is it a vine or bush?
