Shes about too... #49

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Debra!! I'd love to try some of those. I have an armillary in the iris bed that they can vine on.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

That particular cultivar is a cross from BeckyG in the mg forum that igrew out. I have lots of seeds left, will get some of those and some of these too you as well ( both of you)

dahtzu, I thought I had pics of that ee running down the side of the pot, but because I am so unorganized I can't find it.
Changed computers and now I can't find half of what i want.
Remind me later this summer if you want a start and I am sure I will have more babies. If the sun would shine and warm up here that is..... It is one of my favorite ee's.

Debra love that mg with the white ring around it. That is beautiful.

Today all the Master Gardeners got together to get the perennials ready for the plant sale. Label them and price. That takes forever! Nothing is over 4.00 and there are a ton perennials! I am sure everyone will bring something on Saturday morning with no tag (name) or price....LOL

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Debra, thank you so much. They are all beautiful blooms.
Happ, sure wish I could be at that sale. Keep looking for that pic.! Hope you find it. Sounds awesome.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Joyce, did you give me a varigated striped iris? ( At round up)

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Does anyone have Irises that need to be divided, and is so, are you selling them.? I have yellow and 1 purple that really made me want more colors.
Faye

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, I do have one but I doubt it was me cause this is the second year mine has bloomed and not very big still.

Datzu, usually you divide iris in summer, I am tagging some now for color and name, I may divide some but don't know yet. Hate doing that because it cuts down on the blooms the following year, but may need to cause if you don't it will cut down on flowering also....LOL can't win.... Love iris.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

happ, I love them too, I class them right along with Daylilies.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

This is my 1st year growing JMG, can't wait to see them blooming. Hubby asked why I planted MGs since he fights the wild ones in our driveway. After I showed pics of the ones I have to him, he changed his tune...LOL So much for planning to be outside today. It's pouring rain, has been all night. I'd wanted to fix a hanging basket for our mailbox, start more annual seeds, and pot more stuff up for our Plant Swap this Wednesday and also more for the Round-Up in June. Guess I'll check the boards and run errands today instead of tomorrow.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Did edging and spread mulch in the rain. What fun. Had to undress in the garage and pre wash everything in the laundry sink. Guess that is going to be the kind of fun this week will bring. :0)

Fruity your little baby is trying to type with me. :0) Not working out so well.... How comes he sleeps all the time with his Daddy and when I get him he is a holy terror? :0)

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Well that doesn't sound like fun. Hope that mulch wasn't the black kind. For the baby, it must be a guy thing :)

happ, 2 of the 3 bubs on Asiatic Lily "Lollipop" opened today. Look how sweet the blooms are in the rain. This fellow is only 8" tall and sporting blooms the size of my hand. Just amazes me. There's a Scottish paperweight named "Flower in the Rain".....if only I knew how to use hot glass.

Really beautiful! I am sending your JMGs tommorrow girls. Packing them up right now in their bubbles. If you have wild ones, Catch me some seeds. I collect the wild ones from the US. Or, around the world.. which ever I can get..
there will be some of these in that packet.. try to plant at least one seed if not two of each packet. They are easily contained, and have big beautiful varigated leaves.

Can't wait!!! Thanks Debra

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Susan If I send you clematis tommorrow do you think it will get there before Sunday? Or should I wait until Monday next week to send it? Let me know, I can send it out tonight or in the am.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Debra, I have wild mg growing in my yard here in KY. If I can get the seeds do you want some?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

dahtzu, my favorite which you can tell if you see my yard, are iris, daylilies, lilies, and hostas. I do have other stuff, and do need to expand my horizons, but I sure love those plants.

Has anyone ever grown a plant called a gas plant? Dictamnus albus var. 'Purpureus', I love this plant. I have had it for years and it is finally put out seeds last year and I have a few new starts. I am soo happy. It says if you plant it make sure you put it where you want it because it resents being moved....

rvnsbrk, hope it was a warm rain or at least a warm day! Yuck! I spread that red mulch one time when it was wet.....need I say more, I looked like I had a very bad sunburned hands...LOL

fotv, glad you have blooms, aren't those lilies amazing. The bulbs sure weren't very big you must be a very good gardener! The bulbs you sent me looked like baseballs I was shocked none of my bulbs have ever gotten that big, any ideas? I have terrible clay soil, couldn't be me LOL. I still have iris, peonies, lilacs, may night salvia, gas plant, and that is about it in bloom. No warmer stuff yet. Typical Missouri weather tho, we are suppose to go from 60 to 85 by Saturday...LOL That will be great for our plant sale. Not so great for the cool stuff.... ;D I know I whine when it cold and whine when it's hot...LOL

Debra you have some of the most beautiful MG's I have ever seen.

Oh sure, Debra. Today or tomorrow should be fine. It's always taken 3 days for Pr Mail between happ and me.

It was a cold rain and day yesterday high about 60 here and today's a copy-cat except it's not raining as much. I may not have to water for a week. happ, those baseballs came from eflowergarden

Off to fix a basket or two & pot up more plants for tomorrow's swap. I bought a Chelone obliqua "Hot Lips" Turtlehead the week-end for my small butterfly garden. What a name...lol Anybody else growing that one?

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

O'Boy Debra, doing happy dance here. Susan, that's the prettiest "Lollipop" I've ever seen.

LOL, don't know about "Hot Lips" post pics. please. Love reading this thread, each day I discover just how few plants I have, and even more ,just how little I know about plants. Keep on informing me, I'm loving it.
Happy day to all.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My problem is that I read, look and find I need to get more plants. But thats OK I have lots of room.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Fruity I have turtleheads. Don't know what variety they are. In the beginning I tried to keep all the names straight. Then some things died and got replaced and so on and so forth and I finally gave up. Can't find a picture right now. They are one thing that does OK here. The clump is getting bigger.

Another rainy day of mulch. Same thing on tap for tomorrow. So much mulch, so little energy. :0)

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I don't have a pic either, Faye. From what I've read Turtleheads bloom in late Summer, are a member of the Snapdragon family, and are hosts to the endangered Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly. I have very little shade and picked a spot today at the base of our Fir tree where I'm growing a few more plants to try to attract butterflies, so at least it'll have afternoon shade. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/10/

Is that about the time yours bloom, Neener, in late Summer?

Mine came in a gallon pot so if anyone wants a start for postage, let me know here or send me a D-mail.

Here's what didn't get done today.......a box of annuals still waiting to be planted in baskets. At least I was somewhat productive potting plants for tomorrow's swap and sent out 4 trades.

Edited to say happ, One was your Agastache cuttings.

Beautiful Susan,. What is the bloom that looks like a small Angel Trumpet?

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Yepper Fruitloop late summer on the turtleheads. I didn't know they were part of the snapdragon family, but now it makes sense. That's what they look like.

Faye those mini angel trumpets look like petunias to me. :0)

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

They just look so big. Maybe that's because the other blooms are smaller??? Anyway, sure is a pretty bloom.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OK, got to show you this, I was standing under this old cedar tree looking at the new iris that are starting to bloom.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Thinking to myself, gosh the bees really love these iris or is it the lilac bush behind me, when I look up and see this!

Thumbnail by happgarden
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Not 3 feet above my head, and the bassett it tied to the old satellite dish just a couple of feet from me......

Thumbnail by happgarden
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Looked on the internet and read about swarming honey bees. Say they are not particularly agressive...LOL hope they all read that, and they should move on in about 2 hours and find a home, which could be in the walls of your house....not good. Wierd, I have never see anything like that, freaked me out at first!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

WOW happ.......what a motherlode! I read last year that honeybees were in a decline and they had to be trucked in to pollinate the crops from CA to FL. Can you imagine being a bee trekking across the country cooped up with about a million more in a semi-truck? Your colony sure looks like it's right at home even if it did scare the willies out of you.

That's a new variety of Petunia this year, Faye, and it has weird colored blooms. Some are striped or splotched or have a combination of both on the same plant. I'll take pictures later on when they're in baskets and have more blooms. I'm not much of a Petunia fan but these were just too irresistible to pass up.

fotv, I had turtle heads, dang wish I would of known and I could of mailed them to someone else....rofl. Hey, those turtle heads move around and I have tried to kill them out, I would of sent them to you..... I don't know if I know the name, but mine have purple blooms. I was reading that they said they need moisture? Not mine I planted them along the graves driveway close to a maple tree which sucks all the water out of everything.....

Beautiful pick fotv. Love the annuals. Think our weather is going to start changing right after these last two thunderstorms...LOL Shows 80's from Saturday on....yeah!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

What a pretty petunia, I am like you not too wild about them, cause I can never get them to bloom right except for the wave ones. But that bloom is really cool.

What kind of camera do you have? We still have our original which gosh has got to be 6 years old or more, one of the original digital. Not bad for somethings but if something is very white it bleaches out all the color.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Susan, save me some seeds from that petunia will ya? Your box is going out tomorrow.. it is very wrapped up. I have never tried a turtle head.. is it a zone 5 or zone 6 plant?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, must be zone 5a since I have it and can't kill it.....LOL Would you like a few if I can get them out of the gravel along the driveway?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Debra. I'll save Petunia and wild MG seeds for you but will need your help how to collect them when the time comes.

My digital is a Canon EOS20D, 5 years old. Takes great pics but sure gets heavy walking around with it. What I'd really like is a small one to carry in my pocket.

Love that green moth or butterfly! He is so pretty!
How would you like to find one of these in your garden? I just did! She is now all squished! The egg sack too! It is a little fuzzy, but you can still tell what it is.

Ohhh tators, yuck.......gives me the screeps.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

OMG bugs are big in Texas. Yikes!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a black widow spider! See the red hour glass on her tummy?

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Susan, with blooms like that, who wouldn't become a Petunia fan. That is awesome. Your camera may be heavy but it takes magazine worthy pictures.
The spider now( dead) is a good spider.
