System issues (Part II)

Quote from Kell :
AOL is still not happy with DG. When using my shortcut link I have used for years, I kept getting the Splitcoaststampers site, and I still am. So I went to Google to get onto DG thru their link, but it brought me to Splitcoaststampers also. So then I went thru the backdoor as some have described by clicking of the PlantFile link at Google but though it opened PFs, as soon as I clicked on HOME I was back at Splitcoaststampers site.

I can get on thru FireFix though.

Ditto, but I don't have FF, but can get on with IE, but as I said, I don't like IE

It appears that AOL is hung up with the Split Coast Stampers. I've had a few helpdesk reports from non-subscribers and the one common item is AOL. This should help the tech team.

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Thank you Melody, I sure hope they can fix it for us:)Anita

P.S Yesterday I kept getting this:
Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()

Session halted.

Has not happend today, as of yet!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, I think that was an unrelated issue, but they are aware of it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

AOL now has

The site is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for inconvenience this may have caused.
Rest assured that we're working hard to restore the service, and bring the site back on-line as soon as possible.

With the Splitcoaststampers logo on top, not even the Dave's Garden one!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Anyone still seeing the Split Coast page?

I've had some non-subscribers report that theirs has cleared up and back to DG

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Nope, no stampers here, lol.

Every time I've tried to post the past couple of hours, I keep getting booted off the site and receiving an error page
something like internet can not display the web page? If I go back to my homepage, I can then log on to DG. Anyone else having this problem?

I tried to post right after my last post with a "wahoo" because it had gone through ... but my congrats didn't make it. Instead, this is what I keep seeing when trying to post. Am I the only one?

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

table with 2 columns and 6 rows

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
list of 3 items
• You are not connected to the Internet.
• The website is encountering problems.
• There might be a typing error in the address.

If I do "alt home" to go to my homepage, then everything is okay. :-)

split stamp is down too!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Same as yesterday:
AOL is still not happy with DG. When using my shortcut link I have used for years, I kept getting the Splitcoaststampers site, and I still am. So I went to Google to get onto DG thru their link, but it brought me to Splitcoaststampers also but today Splitcoaststampers is saying:
"The site is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for inconvenience this may have caused.
Rest assured that we're working hard to restore the service, and bring the site back on-line as soon as possible. "

So then I went thru the backdoor as some have described by clicking of the PlantFile link at Google but though it opened PFs, as soon as I clicked on HOME I was back at Splitcoaststampers site which is down today.

I can get on thru FireFix though.

I'm still having issues trying to post. I keep having to retry several times both on threads and Dmails. I don't know what is different from earlier today. I posted several times on the prayer forum with no problem whatsoever. I wonder if this will go through first try?

Yep, it did. :-)

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Still cant get here via AOL, without coming through the back door:( Still can't click home tab.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Pages are loading faster than they ever have ^_^ and after enlarging a picture, the back button takes me back to the same post! (not where I began reading after hitting skip to new so many posts ago)

When I checked in today, my Dmails I sent yesterday hadn't gone through ... but things are really moving now. ^_^

Thanks Terry and Melody. It's nice to have y'all still here to listen.

We're still having some reports of the Split Coast Stamper page, but they seem to be slowly working themselves out. Hang in there.

Juney...good news! Great to hear!

We do appreciate everyone bearing with us. Your patience and loyalty are not unnoticed.

No news letter here for several weeks either.

Still no luck getting directly into DG

Google >>> davesgarden.com>>>Communities.... then into Daves thread

I just want to be sure that when it gets fixed ... it is fixed without me having to do anything computerwise.... would hate to be stuck getting in this way because something changed software wise and me not knowing I have to do something at my end.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

rosie---

Can you put DG on your Desktop as a short-cut icon?
Just click and you are there----

I keep all kinds opf icons on my Desk Top......Click to "open"---and you are on!

Gita

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

How do you do that?

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

June,

There's probably more than one way to do it, but here is how I make a short cut icon for a webpage:

Navigate to the page you want to open when you click the icon. Highlight the url (usually near the top of the page). Then drag the highlighted url over to the desktop. If this works, you should be able to click on the new desktop icon and open the webpage.
(I'm on a Mac right now. Windows should be similar.)

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Neat! I did it easily! Thanks for your help with that ^_^

Wahoo ... I did it too! LOL
^_^

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi Gita
Yes I can do it. I just forgot!!! HA! I am getting sooooooo old.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh, me tooooo. I used to know how to do that....

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

I'm fixed, Thank you, Thank you so very much!!! Home tab works right again..:)Anita

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Wonderful!

Hopefully this thing will cycle through and be done with all of us shortly.
The Split Coast folks are probably nice, but I'm sure none of us wanted to 'meet' like we did.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

The guys in tech have this suggestion for those who are still struggling with the Split Coast/AOL problem

1. On the AOL toolbar , click Settings icon
2. In Index select Internet [web] options
3. In AOL Browser Setting select Clear My Footprints tab
4. Select Clear My Footprints
5. Select YES

Try these steps and let me know if it is fixed.

Time being out of synch is still apparent. Local time here in Western Australia is currently 10.55am on Saturday 27th March. I've just checked to see that the USA hasn't suddenly gone into a time warp and gone ahead of us at UTC+8, but no, Texas is 9.55pm on Friday 26th March. See rntx22's post from the birdwatching forum. The same is occurring on each thread I view.

I've just viewed my own post and it incorrectly shows that I posted it at 11.55am.

Melody
I followed directions but in Brower setting there is no Clear My Footprints setting. I can't seem to get rid of the split coast stuff.

There are choices for TopSpeed Web Browser Accelerator
and another to change things in Web Graphics (always / never compress graphics, etc)

Then there is a related settings area - the Wallet, Parental Controls and Pop Up Controls..that is it.

MargaretK is your time correct now?

PERTH, Australia

Hi Terry, no it looks to be the same as I described above. Your post is showing 8.44am on March 28th (don't know how long ago you actually posted it). Looking at the time converter you're actually 12 hours behind us, not half an hour in front. Our local time is 8.25am on March 28th. I'll check to see what time shows when I post it.

It shows that I've posted it at 9.25am.

Thanks for looking into it for me. I don't know if anyone in other time zones in Australia are experiencing the same. Western Australian time doesn't change to or from daylight savings.

I'm seeing some slow downs right now.

This thread was very slow to open.

I had come here to report the difficulty I had accessing: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1082307
With the latter, I clicked on it from the Wildlife Forum page and waited and waited. To check if I'd lost contact with DG altogether, I opened another browser window and went to DG with no problem - prior thread still not loaded. While still waiting for the 1st thread to open/load, in the 2nd window, I opened a random thread in the Daylily Forum which, again, opened quickly. The 1st thread (URL provided) was still 'spinning' trying to load. It did finally load, BTW.

Just wanted to clarify that I'm only reporting this to let you know the issues encountered. As I was eventually successful in loading the desired thread, it's not a big problem for me. : )

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Just an update. I tried a few times w/o success to see if the problem would reoccur. I also tried opening a number of other threads in the Wildlife Forum. Although none took so long to open as the one described above (not even that same thread), I found there tended to be a slight but noticeable pause when trying to open any of the Wildlife threads. Again just reporting what I see in case it helps you in tracking down issues. Not a biggie.

If you would rather only hear about big/serious problems, please let me know. I'm just trying to help. If this level of reporting is just "noise" that gets in the way of dealing with the real problems, please LMK as it is not my intent to do so.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

It is good to know when you're finding slowdowns - when and where. Thanks!

I hate to sound like a broken record since I know problems being worked on - but is the Splitcoast issue still 'alive' or is it just my issue? I have a concern that when the problem started --the software may have been stored (I've cleared my cache) and I am just repeating some old path that has already been resolved. I keep getting sent to that splitcoast site and it says 'splitcoast down for maintenance'

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Everything was resolved in just a few minutes on the split Coast/DG mix up. It is how your browser is caching information that is causing you to see the old page. Can you switch browsers?
