System issues (Part II)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I just posted a fairly large picture and was surprised how fast it went up.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Actually, this morning it still seemed slow (I was on sometime between 10 & 10:30), but it's zipping along today in a way that it hasn't done for weeks!

When it was slow, it didn't seem to matter what I was doing (PF searches, posts, photos), everything just took a long time.

Hopefully whatever was bogging things down has been corrected. I've gotten used to my nice fast connection, and I was getting frustrated by the slowdowns on DG.

:-)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

From talking to the tech team, the data center has had some issues that began last weekend and have been intermittent problems since. Since it affects ALL their sites, it's an urgent situation for them to fix, and hopefully "zip speed" will become the norm once again soon.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

*crossing fingers*

I like zip speed!

:-)

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Just a moment ago, after reading updates to this thread, I returned to "home" & then clicked on the "Fun Random Plant" Mountain Devil. I was taken to a blank page with the following at the top:

Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted.

As I had 2 other browser windows open at the time, I tried to access DG on each of them. No matter what I clicked on I got the same message for each. I waited a minute or two and returned to DG at which point I was able to access everything fine including the Random Plant.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

I could not access this thread from the Concrete & Hypertufa forum: Edge planning need advice. I got a database error that the connection to host failed.
Edited 'cause the screenshots are not showing up.

Looks like we had a temporary glitch, although I must have paused on whatever page I was on, long enough for it to pass.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Terry,

For me it probably only lasted 1-2 min.

BTW, I want to be sure you know that none of the issues I've mentioned are a serious problem for me. I am only reporting them in hopes of assisting in the effort to track and resolve problems.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

I just had NO problem viewing the thread, so I guess that it is one of IB's momentary glitches.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Terry, just a gentle reminder that the PlantFile editors seem to have lost the ability to work with PlantFile photos. Todd and I are hoping this can be fixed soon. :)

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Still slow for me. So far it's not as bad as last night which is good. :~)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Joan, can you or Todd give me an estimate on about how many photos or helpdesk tickets are affected now? I filed a request on 3/11, but I know they've have to prioritize some other things higher on the list - I'd like to be able to let the team leader know the impact of keeping this one on the back burner.

Pepper23, is it any certain part of the site that is slow? A specific forum (or forums), or feature you're trying to load?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Just the whole site unfortuntely.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Speed back up and pretty much normal now.

I started typing a response to one thread in PNW and minimized it for less than three minutes to look up a name and came back to the same error that Dreamofspring got in post 7841374. When I went "back" it returned to the thread but my response was missing.

Did this happen just before you posted, or earlier in the evening?

Gilbertsville, KY(Zone 7a)

No newsletter for me this week.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

No newsletter for me either...

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I know that they were working last night on a number of things, so do let us know if anything is better, worse, different.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Minor issue, but "ship to new" took me to the reply box on this thread just now even though I had not yet seen or read a post (7642714),

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Not quite sure about your question, but.........I retyped my post and then came to this thread next, so it was in a very close time frame. (Re your post 7841816)

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I just posted a photo that 'went up' so blindingly fast that I was prompted to go back and check that it was actually there. It was.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Speed has been adequate ~ even on dial up but... MAJOR IRRITATION issue this a.m.!

I posted and previewed in the Homestead forum. On preview, I got the "view a previous post recently made" message. When "clicking here" to view that post, it did not open another window, just went directly to that thread and wiped out my post. As I was being loquacious ~ it bent me out of shape slightly! 8 }

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Just know I was I was going to make a new post on this THREAD http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1074471/#new

I wanted to use a quote from the last reponse plus and a comment to it. I hit the Quote button and it immediately put it in the reply box and flipped to the preview page. Is that the way it was before???

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

The only glitch that I have been noticing is that when I hit the back button after expanding a picture, I can be sent back to the first post that I read in that thread (after hitting skip to new when I first opened the thread.) This is happening in all of the forums. It is hard to deal with in forums where the threads fill so fast with so many neat pictures. I mostly do not dare expanding the thumbnails as it will take forever to scroll back through the thread so many times and I just do not have much time for browsing the web nowadays.
I am using Google Chrome and have deleted history & all of the other hints that I have read about.

Warren Center, PA(Zone 5b)

6:30 am on the east coast and no newsletter, shoved under the bus again this week. Still haven't received last weeks yet either.

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

No newsletter here either. Everything else sees to be working wonderful.

thanks Terry, Melody, Joan and all the others who make DG what it is.

Joy

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

dreamofspring, please let us know if that continues to happen.

podster, did you try hitting your brower's back button? (I know it's too late now, but I usually right-click on those links and open them in a new tab or window just to be safe.)

nanny_56, yes, that's how it's always worked.

withad, the newsletter is something the tech team is keenly aware of. I'm in the same boat - I have not received a newsletter in several weeks. I can only apologize for the frustration and offer you a link to the online version here: http://davesgarden.com/weekly.php?news=2010-03-22

Joyous, thanks for the kind words and patience ;o)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Please check the Birthday List ...........those names are all people who's Birthdays were yesterday.

"back" took me to a blank message. In the past it always opened a new window. But not to worry, after my chain got jerked, I will read the new post after I post mine.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

pixie62560, the timing on the birthday list is something I'm asking them to change.

podster, so sorry! That is frustrating.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Not to worry ~ I will "cut & paste" if I ever try it again. I'm never too old to learn...

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

No newsletter here again.

Here's the link.

(mine did not arrive either)

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

The article "Dreary Northeast Winters" in the newsletter seems to have some formatting issues... you can see code.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I removed the code.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Yikes ! I was sure we were hijacked for a moment there ~ got the 404 code message with this addy change http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

Not at all where I needed to be!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

I just typed in DG's url, and was brought to a site called "splitcoaststampers.com" instead! Several times within the last few minutes. I was only able to get here by googling "davesgarden.com" split coast stampers, and was brought to this thread here on DG:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/793361/

I noticed from the google search that the other site is one of IB's as well.

Edit: AHA, so I wasn't the only one, lol. I'm at the library and thought for a moment that maybe their computer had a virus, as they've been having trouble with them.

North Augusta, ON

same here. I can't get here half the time, I get taken to the split coast stampers site and my toolbar icons have changed to theirs.

Memphis, TN

Same with me. I have Google Chrome and COULD NOT get to DG at all on it, no matter what I did. I went through Internet Explorer and made it okay.

Hope this one gets straightened out soon....!
