Gypsies move toward Spring

That geranium is so cool Kassy! You girls can have the seeds, I do good to get a live plant to grow lol. I've got an Amaryllis that broke off and started growing again and that sucker is about five foot tall now, think I might have Jacks beanstalk LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Your Amaryllis is five feet tall?!!!! I hardly can believe it. Let's see a photo.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

LOL I exaggerated a little Venice :-) But is probably a good three foot for sure. I have a picture if I can keep it on the camera until my DD mails my usb cord back.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Smiley, that is a neat link, I forget about that method, but it really does work>

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi Marti,

Sorry I missed your post there. My mind was boggled by the list that the person from the Netherlands has.

No, the request I got was from Tuinkabouter.
Check out their trades list. I may be looking though this for days...........LOL
You will find it here: http://www.freewebs.com/garden-gnomes-adventures/seedlists.h...

Kassy, so pretty!!!!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Flowers, here are 2 of my Amaryllis getting ready to blossom.
Actually, one of the pots has 2 bulbs in it. It sprouted another baby bulb. And I have a pot that has 3 bulbs in, but only one of them will blossomed, but no bud is showing yet this year. They are all the same color. They were my mom's plant that I got, and it kept growing baby bulbs.

Thanks Venice,
Now I just wish I knew what these tiny plants are. I'll try to get a better picture of them yet. But I have to wait until it is quiet out. The wind keeps blowing the little things around. And after they are done blooming, I may move them to a different area.
They are my BF's and he has no idea what they are. LOL

And we found this print out at the forty yesterday.
I'm sure glad he takes a gun along out there!
That's a big print, because I don't have a tiny foot!

Wow Kassy....better bring along a steak or two....grin
I think your plant may be Chionodoxia, Glory of the Snow, commonly called Squill.

Kassy, do your flowers have an innie or an outtie?

If it is an innie, could it be a Starflower Ipheion uniflorum?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, if that print was 2" long, it might be a bobcat.

If the print was 4" long, it might be a mountain lion/cougar! And those are huge!

Kassy, a mountain lion/cougar was reported in Spooner, Wi in 2009. It was being tracked to have a radio collar put on it.

I am thinking that maybe you could notify the WI DNR about your paw print because it is really large. This is from that article.

"The best thing we can have them do is take photographs," Jonas said. "If they have tracks, cover them up and we can verify whether it's a cougar or some other animal. Through those types of means, we can keep a better handle on where this critter is going."

yikes that's a big paw! I hope your gun is as big! A .22 would just irritate that animal.
Those flowers are really pretty Kassy!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Kassy, better take a shot gun while hiking those trails! Love the blooms, looking up your way too I see. The Amaryllis is looking good, would love to see the blooms. Mine are pink and white stripe I think. They usually bloom here around January, but since mine broke off guess it messed it up. Its very tall but no buds, think its a goner for this year. I'm about to give up on them, Do you want it?

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi flowers,
I'll post a picture of mine in bloom when I get back home. (still at my BF's). I'm pretty sure I still have them on my computer from when it bloomed before. Mine is a striped too.
I posted it once to see if anyone could name it, but no one was sure.

We always take a gun along to the forty, No Steaks :p
The biggest print was about 4 1/2 inches long and we think it is 2 wolves. One of the prints was bigger then the other one. They just happened to walk thru some sand after it had rained there, or we probably would have never known that they were there. We are hoping they were just passing through as that is where they hunt, and well, the wolves would scare off all the deer.

I still have to try to get a better picture of that tiny flower. And when it stops blossoming, I want to move them to a better area then he has them planted in.

Last count I have almost 70 daffodils in bloom.

Oh and here are some of our new babie ^_^

Awwwww that is the cutes thing I've ever seen Kassy! 70 blooms, thats awsome bet that is good on the eyes. Don't know much about wolves, just that I don't want to meet one while out hikeing, you be careful out there. I've got one little Tulip in bloom and because it has been dry for a couple of weeks my daffodills just fizzeled out.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Just dropping in for a minute to see a whole bunch of sweet 'chicks!' Ha!

I found out that wolf paw prints are 4 1/4" to 4 3/4" long! I had no idea that their feet were that big.

Kassy, does your print look like this?

Thumbnail by venice62
Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hi Venice, hope you are getting caught up and enjoying the nicer weather. Kassys print looks more like Bear to me.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Not bear, canine, as in wolf. I saw prints like that at the wolf reserve in Riverside Ca. And yes a full grown wolf track is that big.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Could be right Marti, but was looking at Kassys print compared to Venices wolf one and Kassys only had three holes like the foot of a bear, Venices had four in more of a rounded shape.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ok, here is a bear right front paw print.

Thumbnail by venice62
Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

What do you think Venice?

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Thank you marti. Yes, it is canine.

It's a wolf print.
Wolves as dogs, walk with there claws out and one of the pictures I have shows the claw marks in the soft sand.
Cats, as in cougars or mountain lion, do not walk with their claws out.

And bears have a totaly different back paw print, and all the prints were the same, except one set was a little smaller. So we think it was a male and female wolf together that were there. Hopefully just passing by.

I would post the one that shows the paw print with the claws showing, but that has to wait until my back feels a little better. Not up to hooking up the camera now to download.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Mystery solved, Thanks Kassy. Sorry your back is out, gonna have to quit all that OT, body needs a chance to rest. Use the icy hot heat patches they work pretty good.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Venice here is the five foot Amaryllis finally quit growing and started turning yellow

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, I am so sorry you are in pain with your back. I sure hope it feels better real soon. Be sure you get as much rest as you need.

Yes, I agree with you, wolves. And bear rear foot prints are more like a human foot print, of course lot bigger!

I bet your new little chickies grow bigger everyday! Cute little things. How many do your have.

Flowers, what did you do to that Amaryllis? It might even be taller than 5 feet! Do others ever grow that tall? I think it is just weird. Thanks for the photo because it is hard to believe it is that tall.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks guys.

Back is still hurting, but doing better then it was. I was having Muscle spasms the first couple of days. Now it just hurts when I lay down, until I find a comfortable postion. Or change postions in bed. Or when I sit down some times it bothers me until I find that comfortable postion.
I have been taking the heating pad to work with me and sitting up against that any time I can.
And yes, I have been working with it. It didn't happen at work, it happened at home the afternoon that I was scheduled to start back to work. (Our manager is out at work right now because her blood preasure was thru the roof. So everyone is working extra hours to fill her spot, so they can't afford to have me out too).
Of all things, I over extended when I was trying to put a tray of seeds near the window to get them to grow. And they are for the place I work at too.

I'm sure the chicks are growing by leaps and bounds venice. They grow so fast when they are that age. I was only there with them 2 days and they were already getting some of their little wing feathers. I have a really cute picture in my camera, but I'll wait to download it until my back is a little better. I have to reach behind my computer to plug the camera into it, and I don't want to do that kind of streatching at this point.

Flowers, what in the heck did you feed that Amaryllis??
Mine have never gotten that tall, but I did have blossoms on one of them that was 8 inches across one year. The biggest blossoms I had ever had on them.
This is what mine looks like in bloom Flowers.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

And that was when it had the 8 inch across blossoms too.

Hi Kassy. Sorry about your back. Hope its better soon.
I need to get outside and get busy. Never ending :)
those chicks are so cute.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice flower, Kassy. I've never seen one like that. I hope your back gets better soon. Have you tried a chiropractor?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, 8 inches!!! Wow is that huge! And it is very pretty.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Kassy if you can stand it, go to a tanning bed once or twice, mine was out and couldn't straighten up and went to tanning bed and something about that penetratiing heat gave me instant relief. I heard that if the bulbs missed there bloom time then they would just keep getting taller, and thats what it did. Kept hoping it would form another bud since the first stem broke before it matured. Hi Everyone, hope all are well!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Tanning beds aren't good for you, Flowers. A chiropractor would put her spine back where it should be.

And it feels so good....

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

No I don't recommend tanning beds either on a regular basis at all Smiley. But when that psotic nerve in lower back kicks in that is the only relief I could get from it. Know I spelled that nerve wrong :-)

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

That's cuz yer back is outta whack and it's pressing on the nerve. (You can tell I am pro-chiropractors)

Chiropractor used a "cold laser" on DD yesterday. She had a muscle that was really tight, she said she felt instant relief.
