What could be more Spring-like than daffodils?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

what is that green thing with the number on it ? A plant marker?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey JJ...it is a street address sign. None of the houses here have numbers and our mailbox is across the street. Just trying to make it easy for folks to find us....The UPS guy just loves it...LOL

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Aaah... flowers. I saw green tips yesterday in my yard, what wasn't still covered in snow, that is.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I seen some green poking out of some of my daylilies...thinking it's a little early.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have faith JJ...it is only 81/2 days til the start of Spring....grin

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I have faith that ther is at least one more snow coming. lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Wouldn't have anything to do with the pool/lottery? Grin

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

No lol
Just know we have gotten them before in March even April and this year has been so crazy I figure we will get one.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

GRIN....yeah, the weather this year has shocked the whole world....when we went to see Jan and Family last summer, the dam/reservoir where all their water comes from was down at 17% capacity. She told me last night that the official total on the dam is now 91%....in just 9 months....but all the rain has been pretty much over the last 2-3 months.

I would not be surprised to see it snowing somewhere around here in July....hopefully just NOT on any of our gardens....grin

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't have flowers, of course! But I do have daylilies, iris, asters, and autumn fire sedum just peaking through. What I thought were hens and chicks, are the autumn fire sedum coming up. If I don't have anything else I will have a few of those.

My hair is just a little shorter than that photo I posted. I just looked at that photo and it looks like my hair is kind of reddish but it is definitely not, just blonde. I knew I would be running around today, so I just turned it under just a bit with my brush. "Just a little" because my hair is very straight. It is a good thing I didn't mess with it because I got caught in the rain.

I was going to fix some soup for lunch and I put some black beans on to cook. Later it smelled like someone was fixing coffee from upstairs, maybe grinding their own coffee. It kept getting stronger. I was busy typing at the computer and wasn't paying much attention. But I turned my head quickly toward the kitchen. And I saw this 12 inch wide thick smoke coming from the beans I was cooking!!! I went and grabbed the pan and put it outside. But the pan still had that thick column of smoke coming from it while I carried it and put it down. It was a wonder that my smoke alarm didn't go off. Wow was it smokey and smelly. Everything smelled smokey. I sprayed the chairs, carpet, and my clothes I was wearing with Frabreeze and sprayed the air with Lysol several times. I opened the doors and tried to air everything out. I had to leave and I could tell my hair even smell smokey! My pan is still outside, soaking with the rain!

I am curious to see when Kassy's last snow melts.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, I meant to ask you. Are those the flowers Aiden planted? They are so pretty!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Venice..you need to push the test button on your smoke alarms....the one nearest the kitchen at the very least should have gone off long before you could see that much smoke. You may need new batteries in it. it is a good idea to check your alarm monthly by pushing the button for a second to hear the alarm. you can do it with a broom stick or a mop handle.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes ma'am...they are. He had such fun picking out the pansies and daffodillies....grin He really like his Hi-cents (hyacinths) too...grin

I have flowers on my tomato plants..does that count?

Love that purple it really pops.

Venice I second what moon says about the smoke alarm...test it girl

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ok, I will test it.

You have flowers on your tomato plants already??

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I put a new battery in it but maybe the maintenace guy didn't install it right. I pressed the button and nothing happened. I will call on it tomorrow.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Better Venice that is not safe.

Yes I took the tomato plants I planted in containers over at my friends in her spa room, (they keep it heated for their plants). They are getting huge and have flowers on them. Was going to take a picture but of course the batteries were dead in camera so will take one on Monday when I am there.

Been using beer bottles to keep them watered and it is woring great.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Way to go, JJ. Aren't you just the busy bee....Grin DIY and tomato blooms and GKs...and work....You keep walking Girl. Grin

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Beer bottles? Like those special pretty globes they sell for watering plants in pots. Do the beer bottles work the same way? Can you use plastic soda bottles the same way?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes they do and you can Marti. I have used gatorade bottles, plastic water bottles and now trying beer bottles.

The longer the neck is the farther down you can get it. I usually make a small hole to help get it down in the dirt.
Thinking wine bottle would work great, if Lynnie would send me one.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'll have to try it. Esp. this summer when it gets so hot around here. It would help me keep things watered without dragging the hose around.

Thanks for the information.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

It seems to be working for me. Would probably have to put more than one in the pots in the summertime outside. I use two to three in the big containers I have the tomatoes in.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Way to go JJ, you must have known that Fla was gonna get that freeze and tomatoe prices would go through the roof, I'll give ya one dollar for three of them grin giggle snort. Venice bet your hair looks good, I usually cut my own too. It doesn't grow as fast as it use to so twice a year is all the trimming I need. Moon sure am glad you are back to keep the forem going, these guys are tired of my pitiful pictures LOL. I like the Hi Cents too! Hope Lynnie is ok, haven't heard much from her since she come down with the higolagan flips. My Dad use to use that expression. lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I love your pics Flowers....grin I did really miss y'all while the kids were here...my DD was tickled by the fact that y'all "knew" the grandbabies. She said it was like them having a bunch of cyber-aunties and godmothers....

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Venice...you know i think they are both too special....grin. Yes, I did see Susie's picture....too sweet. How are you today?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Just feel honored to witness the happy reunion and share in the excitement of seeing those precious babies and we did feel like part of the family for sure. Thanks for sharing that with us Moon, and cyber aunties we are! lol

Cute! Everyone spring forward with your clocks!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Now I really slept late.
Have a great Sunday everyone.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Has anyone downloaded a movie on iTunes? I need help!

I suppose all of you are busy today. So dark here and high of only 48 degrees.

Moon, how many pounds of cans equals how much money?

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I don't know about your state, but here in KY aluminum cans are worth .35 cents a lb. In Calif, you get $1.54 a lb. Of course in Calif you pay a recycling fee when you buy soda, beer, and thats on cans, glass bottles and plastic bottle.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ok, then, how many cans in a pound?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Now that's a question that I don't know the answer to. You got a bathroom scale? You can stand on it than have someone start handing you cans until you see a 1 lb gain. Or try putting the cans on the scales in a paper bag and see if you can find 1 lb that way.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't have that many cans! I might only have 6-7 cans a week.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Venice not all cans weigh the same.
It is usually around 32 cans per pound. Could be a little more or less.
Hope that helps.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

It would take me around 5 weeks to make 35 cents!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

We have a couple people who give their cans to us and it still takes a long time and lots of room in the garage to make a load worth hauling to town.
DH probably only takes them in once or twice a year.
