I thought so, thank you so much Tubby!!! I really appreciate all of those!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
We crossed posted Crissy this morning..you ditz, that's something like I would do, half blind and wonder why? Glad you went to the funeral home with Dave..I'm sure he appreciated your going!
Susan, I am relieved, nothing like getting a call saying one of your loved ones are injured...so unsettling..almost overwhelming isn't it that your life going on each day, no worries and within a second total devastation...best I get back to not worrying right?
OMG it's in the high 60's, what a day...itching to get out raking but I know I'd do more damage than helping plants get sunshine..we're bound to get a blizzard or two, perhaps just a walk around and look at my pretties will be enough for tonight..
Just told the girls that I might b.b.q. tonight and Aline called..said she put homemade soup/rolls/yogurt and cake in the refrigerator for me so no b.b.q. tonight..
I'm sure that if it's in the 60's here that your weather must be spectacular? great week to have March Break with children/grandchildren...
Hope you are enjoying.
Betty, let go and let God!
Our weather is CRAPPY - rainy, dismal, cold (55) - just plain 'not nice', but I'm happy to be here to enjoy whatever weather we have. It's warmer in KANSAS CITY, where I moved from, than it is here - of course, the home folk are snickering at us! LOL
So pleased to see you on the thread Kay..missed our gabbing sessions...update please, still looking after the grandchildren? working? This has been a strange winter for all..a lot of us in snow country have had above normal temps while many of you below temps...know I'm not nice by saying you can have it!!! lol
Betty, the grandchildren have moved right around the corner from me! I get to see them almost every day and it is great!!!!! I'm doing fine - I'm retired and no longer work outside the home, but have plenty to keep me busy - grandkiddos, yard and house plus thrift stores, garden nurseries and garage sales.
Here in my area, we go straight from winter to hot summer - no spring or fall. Right now, we have about 10,000 teenagers in our town - spring break for the high schools and colleges - makes navigating a bit challenging, but this too shall pass.
BarefootT, I have to wonder why it doesn't bloom - I didn't know there was a plant of this genre that didn't bloom - do you know specifically the cultivar?
Crinum lily.
((((((((((Liz)))))))))) So sorry......
Betty glad to hear Kyle is doing well....such a scary incident !
Trying to get some projects finished up and ready to ship for a swap, some baby things done, and a few projects around here completed and hopefully start looking for a car soon....very tired of being without wheels!
Hope you all had a great St. Paddy's Day!
((((((Liz & Kenny))))) I am so very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you made the same choice I would have....it really hurts, but you don't want him to suffer. That is the ultimate gift of love.
DH is home until at least Monday. Then he has to pass the "Staff" doctor before he can return. They gave him some work to do at home on the computer til then. I am going to go completely crazy! There is some swelling in the macula, and they had to change eye drops adding a new one. AND, his vision in that eye is not good at all. They are hoping as the swelling goes down more, and the gas bubble disapates...it will improve. He has 20/200 vision.
Betty...so glad you saw Kyle, that had to put your mind at ease somewhat.
Debbie
thank you Kaye.
Kaye, sounds as though your life is almost complete, hard getting your footing after losing a loved one...bet those boys are getting to be quite the young men, any photo's...gardening time, know how much you love to garden...do you have everything as you want it yet? know you brought much with you in the move...
Thunder, love the shamrock..thought they were only indoor plants..had a few house ones, of course you know how well I do with houseplants to they died..so sad! Is all that greenery from this year?
I was sooo happy last night, worked outside for about an hour..did some burning..no, didn't start to rake, we've been spoilt and they are calling for snow next week, won't last long but if I clear all the winter cover surely I'll do the plants harm so I'll not tackle that yet...but, while picking up tree limbs to burn and whatever debris I could fine there sitting on the ground was an envelope, ladden with dry mud, hmmmm, looked inside and there was the quilt block I had ready to mail several months ago and thought I had put it into curbside garbage..guess I must have set it with my coffee on top of the car, grabbed my coffee and forgot the envelope..plowman did his thing and there it was sitting under 5' of snow...not a mark on it so guess I have an extra block to play with..lol..
Gee it felt wonderful playing in the gardens, looking around, even the neighbors were out..did a lot of burning..first thing I HAD to do was go in and wash my hair, yuk did I smell like chimney smoke..
Trisha, you sound like you've a lot on your plate..do you have Sage this week while out on March Break
pressed send too quickly..lol..
Trisha, when you've a car in the yard seems there is never any reason to be anywhere, minute it's gone there's tons you have to do..lucky you've got mom next door for emergencies..
Liz, how are you and Kenny feeling today..am sure your heart is broken! Ohhh wouldn't it be wonderful to have another puppy in the house..Kenny back to his old job yet Liz?
Bev, thinking of you and Scotty..
oops got a call, be back soon
morning all,
ya were slowly getting through it, today was a little eaiser
no not at old job yet he still only has 30 hours of work he is going to wait and see if it picks up then make a decision.
yes we would love another going to make a call this evening and just get some info
so when the time is right we will be ready to.
hows kyle doing? got to catch up and read the thread
im soo behind.
have a great day all
He's doing great Liz..still taking meds and most likely enjoying being spoilt by all!!! who wouldn't like that..
Well if you check for another maybe the birth of the pup would be later and that would give you time to mend.... is Kenny adapting to the job he's now doing, last we visited with you both he was working crazy hours...how is your job going? Granny?
Debbie, your posting re Paul's condition doesn't sound the best, omg you both must be worried sick..let's hope when he meets with the Dr.'s they have good news..maybe it's a matter of him resting for awhile longer..nice of his company to allow him to do some work at home as long as it means he's not overdoing...are your kids home on March break as well?
Debbie so sorry Paul is having such a time with his eye, I'm praying for a fast recovery there, nothing fun about having an eye problem. One thing good about the eye is liquid and heals fast because of it!
I'm so glad you got some burning done Betty, that helps with the cleanup after winter. Dave did a lot of burning yesterday too.
Nice shamrocks!! Mine aren't even beginning to come up yet, I hope they do!
California was brought up last night, again. We can't go two months without him bringing it up. Apparently his brother Donnie said he would buy Dave a plane ticket, Dave told me he told Donnie that now is not the time, but who knows how that conversation really went. It's not that I don't want him going to see his family, it's that they're not saying, "I'll fly you two out here!" It's, "I'll fly Dave out here!" It's quite disheartening to me. I'm learning that they are blaming me for 'taking Dave away from them.' It wasn't me who said, "I'm moving to Arkansas." It's not my family out here, nor my friends, they're all Dave's family and friends. I didn't know a sole when we moved here. I couldn't go right now anyway because I only have two vacation days after I take 3 days for my dad's visiting next week.

Good Morning Betty and Everyone.
So glad to to Hear how Well Kyle is doing. It's amazing the different surgeries are. You might remember when my Brother cut his fingers off
they pinned them, I wish they would have heard of using wire! I was glad also that it was on his left hand and not his dominate hand.
Betty, how is Noah doing?
Ahhh, it is wonderful to work in the yard...LOL, I was doing the same thing the last couple of days...Hey, you beat me with the first out door fire...I've got a nice little stack of sticks for kindling oh maybe tonight, its to be in the 70's!!! Today, i am thinking to clean the bird feeders and baths. Also, need to find a new/old pair of gloves and scarf for Jumanji and of course a new do. Walked around and see i have Daffs! Yippee so nice to see Green poking up. But same as you, I am not going to rake out the winter mulch, still quite frosty in the AM and we too are expecting snow this weekend, sigh, technically it is still winter, pouting about that...And I set my chair up. It needs a little touch up here and there, then I will polyurthane, especially the arms and daisy back.
OMG, my list of to do's is growing by the minute! Did you clean out your pond yet? Know you wanted to get that done early, early.
Well, I 'm happy to report, Talked with Niece last night. LOL, i finally sent a txt message to see what was up. She has been insanely busy preparing the new store, target open date in April Fools Day! LOL, Said she was going to promote an all fools sale.
OMG, I received my March Towel from Barb yesterday!! It is incredible...ROFLOL, but you already seen it via d-mail show and tell, heheh.
Barb, Thank you again, lol and again...Got to tell you even Steve was highly impressed with the intricate pattern.
How cool you received compliments on my towel too, nice to hear good feedback, just makes me smile. I am working on a few ideas for other "dress" designs. I have been hired to create a chefs cloak!! Waiting for a photo of his actual Chef cloak, thinking of another with his cap! Thanks to Liz for the neatest idea ever...OH, i will post a pic for you in a bit.
OMG Debbie, I am real sorry about Paul's eye. Good heavens, Praying the new meds work. You sure have quite alot going on. When do you get a rest? Which i do hope you take time for yourself. Good to hear that he is able to work from home.
Waiving Hi KayJones! Wow so glad your GK are around the corner.
Linda Kay, So glad you are having a blast with your DGS's!! LOL, I bet you are exhausted by the end of the day, I am so happy you got/get to spend the week with them. Makes for Special memories.
Hiya Thunder, Got to tell you, I LOVE your Crinum Lily!! What an awsome White Star. Thanks for posting the Shamrock plants, they are pretty too.
Crissy, So glad you went to your friends viewing with Dave. Amazing what people do. I think that is real cool for family and friends to have, him be as he was, somehow, i think it is just easier for people to except.
OHHH Liz and Kenny. Hugs continue to you both. Aw, Is that the photo Kenney will use? I love that photo of Asta.
Hang in there, it does get a little easier with each day. How's Rainey doing, Bet she's kind of lost, give her some extra loving.
Trisha, crossing fingers you find some wheels.
Well, I am working on the 2nd downy quilt, yesterday sewed outside!! That was just so nice to work in the warm sunshine, listening to the birds chatter away and watching them go to the feeder....BUT, ack! Big heavy sigh here, I have seems that are off and yikes, i am really frustrated with trying to hide the issue. LOL, not too cool, but plugging along, hopefully finished by Friday. Gives me two weeks to finish up a couple other things...Gives me an Even greater respect and appreciation for Your work Barb and all the quilters...
ROFLOL, will somebody P A L E A S E send me some patients.
OK, Off to get some more rows done, then it's outside for me!
Enjoy the Sun's Kiss today.
Crissy, hugs...hope things work out for the best for BOTH of you.
(sorry we cross posted)
Betty, I'm so sorry to hear about Kyle but I'm glad the outcome was minor compared to waht it could have been. I know you were a basket case thru it all! Prayers for a speedy recovery for Kyle!
Well, I think spring has finally come to Richmond but I'm keeping one eye open for ol' man winter. I planted potatoes yesterday and put all my cacti out on the screened in porch. This week has been beautiful - high 60's and into the 70's today! We had so much snow this winter (39" at my house) that the ground will take till July to dry out!
I have to wait a little longer before I can till the garden b/c I had foot surgery 6 weeks ago and I know my doc will blow a gasket if I'm out gardening! I need to get DH to do it! I've got my tomato seedlings coming up inside along w/ some beans and corn. Hopefully, I can put them out in mid April.
We're heading to the Florida Keys for spring break and I cannot wait for some sun! It better be shinning down there!! And warm!
Jeannine, why go to Florida if you have 60-70's..lol..love the keys, what a way to enjoy your March break..yours must be different than here, our kids go back to school on Monday.
Sure was a basket case, the period that you just don't know what's going on that freaks you out..I'm calm now but was terribly upset...
You've already planted potatoes? Do you normally do so this early? I got told that the cacti I got for my birthday should NOT be on the downstairs mantle in the dark, so before I left for work yesterday and Lydia who gave it to me came painting I brought it upstairs and put it near a window..drats, I know nothing at all about cacti...
What will you do with Sailor girl and Murphy? Do they get to have March break as well?
Judy, it is a sun kiss day today for sure, finally the sun is coming out..almost lunch time and I've decided that because of the beautiful weather I'll take a 1/2 hr. trip to Cookstown to the fabric store that I purchased the accuquilt...need a few things..off early tomorrow but don't want to waste getting off early and going shopping..so it will take up my entire hour, dropped into to Tim's this morning and got soup/salad so when the girls leave shortly I'll eat and then off I go..just know I'd rather drive and enjoy the day than come back to work but musn't do that..would be nice though wouldn't it...
So nice to have a fire going Judy, did think of you as I know that's your special time..I've a lot of trees so there is always branches all over after the winter so fire it was...this weekend will be pond time..about same time as it was last year..can't wait..love the sounds of the waterfalls..now I have a thought, isn't that novel me having a thought about a project...lol..want to go looking for med. size trunks of trees, hopefully ones that have decayed and have the middle dried out and rotten so I can make a water feature with, got the area I want to do one in near back bedroom deck, 3 or 4 trunks placed into rock/slate, shrubs planted around them so that the water feature mechanism is hidden...it's all upstairs in this mind of mine, just need to gather materials and then be creative...
Judy, often when doing quilt top and it's off somewhat I tie with embroidery floss the corners which gathers the project somewhat and you can't see that the seams are off...look forward to seeing your towel...
is the towel exchange over now? I'm thrilled that I just have April block to do in the quilt block exchange and in May it's the month I get mine and then that commitment is done..much too long a process, sticking to regular swaps...
Bet you are counting the days before you leave..Steve working today?
Crissy, musn't be much left to do in your yard as Dave's been working outside most days and you both working on the weekend getting things done..now you can enjoy B.B.Q. season..
Believe me, if Richmond has the clear blue water, I would stay here! Sailor & Murphy will go to their "grandma's" houses - Sailor to her breeder and Murphy to his. I'm sure they both will come back beautifully groomed! Spring break here is always (I think) the week following Easter.
I planted my potatoes in "potato bags" and they are sitting on my deck. I can bring them on to the porch if it gets too cold. This is the first time I've planted them this way but the process makes sense. Plant them in a trash can or breathable bag then when they are done, dump them out in your garden. You pick the potaoes out and the dirst stays. I planted a "bag" of red and Yukon golds so we'll see.
LOL, always nice to get back groomed doggies...
Never heard of doing potatoes that way..going to go back and read your method again after I come back from lunch..would love to try and see what happens...hmmmm now who taught you that gardening trick...
off for lunch...fabric store calling me...
I have seen the potato's in a garbage can, but don't know how much dirt to put in? Maybe a couple of feet? How many plants per can?
Hey Judy, still busy I see, Please tell us what k ind of store your Niece is opening? I do wish them all the luck in the world with the opening! Lots of work, opening any kind of business!
Betty, please post pictures of your garden waterfall. Sounds like it will be very pretty with the tree trunks and all.
I read you can use a large plastic garbage can; bunch some holes in the bottom and sides (1" or a hair smaller in size). Put some rocks in the bottom for drainage then fill to almost the top with soil. I got my "potato bag" from Gardeners Supply Co. They are about 24" across and about 20" high. I filled them almost to the top and planted about 7 seed potatoes. I figured it might get crowed but the taters would grow down. I have about half a bag of each potato left so I might have to plant the rest out in my regular garden. If I'm lucky, I'll have potatoes coming out of my ears!
Going to have to try that method for sure..still early for us though, most likely I'd have to wait until May unless I brought them in every night...
Betty
I'm firs yah....
