Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, prayers continue. I know your on pins and needles.

With kids having these types surgeries, they are usually more careful keeping them in the hospital a bit longer. And they usually watch for infection and start PT right while in there.

Deep breathing....and take meds.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Noah was one of my worries. I hope he can be convinced that it was just an accident and that no one is blaming him...he did not do it on purpose. Will keep all of you in our prayers, with a special one for the boys. Please keep us posted.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back for last update of the night, I'm breathing a bit better...

Surgery went well, did some stitching, one finger they've had to take nail off, re-attach using metal wire, he'll be in pain, take a while to use some of his fingers but thank the Lord he'll have fingers...

Now when Melanie called she said Noah had touched the winch button...no he did not...she got that through the message of the accident, Noah tried to get his hand/arm out but wasn't there when it happened..

Kyle had gone out on the trails and got into trouble with mud, he took the winch and got it positioned to pull the atv out, somehow and it's not clear he tried to do something and HE hit the winch button..couldn't get clear, had his cel phone, was able to call the cottage, Noah and his grandma came out, Noah tried and tried through Kyle's screems to get him free and couldn't (that's where the Noah bit came in and why he felt so badly)...they had to call 911 and have the rescue unit come and get him free..I'm relieved that Noah wasn't the one to have turned the winch on..for that I'm grateful..he's so tender hearted that being involved would be terrible for him..

Arm is banged up as is his entire hand but that's minor as to what could have happened..be awhile before he can use his hand and the final results known..

He'll be in Meaford for the rest of the week, specialist wants to check Kyle out on Saturday..I've called family and friends to let them know the outcome, now that I've posted it's off to bed for me...

Again, it's people such as yourselves that makes you feel less alone in an emergency...
God bless you and yours!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the update Betty-glad that Kyle came out OK and that Noah was only a part of the rescue efforts. I feel for both of them....take care of yourself too Miss Betty.

Betty such a relief. Rest well...you need it after this.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm so glad it turned out so well! It could have been so much worse. Thank God he had a phone!

Baton Rouge, LA

Again...Kyle shows SUCH maturity for a young man... TO have the presence of mind while in pain to take out the cell phone...

I wonder if I would have done so...

HUGS,
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good night Betty, hope you sleep well! Glad to hear damage was kept to a minimum!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh my goodness Betty !!, hope you are now sleeping well...the things boys can get into....medicine is wonderful these days..hopefully all will be very well for Kyle

Pacifica, CA

Betty sending you prayers omg such a accident thank god he is OK
good thing he had his phone, such a brave boy.

Judy thank you, went to Dr this evening had x rays done and more blood work
poor little asta his counts are dropping were praying for a miracle that the meds kick in and his counts climb, after tonight were in it for 900.00 they said there was something in the stomach area and something has the liver slightly pushed not sure without a sonogram, they even talked about blood transfusions she said they were 1000.00 and he would have to be admitted to hospital. but there was no guarantee that would help
so tomorrow morning he has to get some more blood work done and i pray his levels go up if he gets worse were faced with the horrible decision Kenny is just beside himself.
got to get some rest.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..

Should have been able to sleep last night but couldn't, I'm tired/tired this morning but did get a perk..a ray of sunshine just a few minutes ago...Kyle called, said he was in a lot of pain but they are giving him something for it, he didn't talk long, knew I was worried, said he had a cast up to his elbow , just so excited that he called that I didn't even ask him which hand/arm was injured and yes, he's very mature for his age..

I bought the boys cel phones for Christmas, parents weren't sure the younger ones would handle using them in the correct manner and were leary, guess kids having phones aren't such a bad idea after all...Jeff called me about 5 times last night as he was texting with Greg and/or to find out info as Greg kept me informed, between both knowing what was going on helped..at one point I was going to meet Jeff in Elmvale and we'd travel to the hospital together but then better news came and plans changed..thank goodness for friends and family!

Liz, sorry to hear about Asta failing in health, praying that today you see improvement, know you are worried sick..furries are every bit a part of our families...

Well, I'd better get a move on..

Talk later..and above all, thanks for being here at the touch of a keystroke..earthly angels you are!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Liz, Betty, and all. Will say prayers for all. Scotty just got out of hospital again after a week. Getting harder and harder to lift on and move around. Wakes me up every hour for something. Can't get enough sleep now for about a month. Talk later. HUGS BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, so glad you dropped by with news of Scotty, it must be terribly difficult for you and he both..is your son still with you, is he able to help with the lifting? my prayers are with you...

Several of the parcels I mailed out Sat. arrived, if you didn't get yours it should be there today, not much just a little something to say I'm thinking of you friend!

God Bless!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Betty sorry you could not sleep, but totally understand with all that is going on. Bet you got a lot of relief when he called you this morning! Before you know it, he will be outside running around, having a great time. Still praying for a very speedy recovery!
Bev, please know we are praying for you ans Scotty. Keep us posted please?

Liz, still praying your for your little furry friend, and his blood numbers come up today!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I came down in the middle of the night to check the thread to see how Kyle was doing. Pauls father lost his fingers on his hand about 24 years ago....so I know what your dealing with and how scary this is. They didn't have cell phones back then and he was out in the field working on a corn picker by himself.

Bev, you and Scotty are in my prayers and in my heart. I just love you two....such a beautiful couple. Scotty....I miss your smile, behave yourself for Miss Bev!

Liz, I am sorry to hear about your little Asta. That is so sad, and I hate when they just dont' know what they are treating....but the bill just keeps getting higher and higher. How old is Asta? Keeping you and Kenny in my thoughts and prayers also.

Tomorrow DH goes back to the eye doctor, and hopefully we hear some good news. The gas bubble in his eye is starting to break up but the vision hasn't improved too much. Says his vision is like one of those cameras you see on TV that is 1/2 in water and 1/2 hour....with the water line and blurry.

Will check in later.

Debbie

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

You guys bring tears to my eyes all the time. I thank God every day for all of you. No Rick can't help because he gets excited and has Cataplectic spells. The good Lord and all my good friends will see me through. HUGS BEV

Betty, I lurk a lots but when I read in the other building about your grandson's accident, I had to come and tell you that all are in my prayers and thoughts. I know how grandkids take over your heart!!!! Please, please take care of yourself and keep us updated on Kyle.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG Betty!! I am so sorry to hear this news, poor boy!! Thoughts and prayers for very quick healing! I'm so glad everything is going to be ok!!!

Well, Dave's friend's viewing is tonight 6-8pm and the funeral is tomorrow at 1pm. I don't know if I'm going to be able to go, or even if I want to go. I should to support Dave, but then again, and this may be selfish, but I've only met him a few times and I don't want to use up my days off, I'm trying to collaborate them and after my dad and his girlfriend visit next week I'll only have 2 more days. I don't know what to do on this, I guess I'll ask Dave tonight if he wants me to go to the funeral with him.

Today's another busy busy busy day, so I've got to scoot, but everyone is in my thoughts and prayers, and Bev I am so sorry Scotty is having such a hard time also. I wish there was something I could do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy thanks sweetie..you know I've a special place in my heart for Kyle..have the same but different for each of the grandsons..Kyle spends a lot of time with me..just the shock of not knowing how bad it actually was...

I've spoken to Kyle again this morning, he's chatty, guess it's also shock..it was his left arm/hand and he's right handed so will make it easier for him right now to cope...

I'm sure if you talk to Dave he'll let you know his thoughts about your going with him..sometimes they like being alone..this might be the one time...

Bev, love the photo, am sure Debbie like I am doing can mentally see where the photo was taken and remember all the beauty of your garden..I was so impressed..by now I'm sure you've started growing for this season?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh dear Lord - I go away for one day and look what happened. Betty I am so sorry for Kyle's accident and so grateful to be able to know as quickly that he will be okay. I'm sending my prayers for a speedy recovery for him. Sending calming prayers for you too. I know you'll not be calm until you see him again. I'm also grateful for the medical team that took care of him.
I was away to my cousin's home in Massachusetts. We are planning a family get together and I had no access to a computer. And then this morning I had promised
myself that I would sew before I looked at the computer. THAT won't happen again!!!!!
Sending Hugs to you and your family.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank Barb...family reunions is quite an undertaking...where will you be holding it?

From the sounds of it, you are keeping right on target with your table runners..good girl...I had hoped to get a few rows of Jeff's golf rag quilt done last night but didn't even look at it, am sure tonight I'll be in bed early unless I get a second wind...t.v. bingo so perhaps I best stay awake, was down to 1 number last week, that jackpot is waiting for me...

Debbie, can Paul do the work he's doing with only partial vision...must be frustrating for him...let's hope the Doctor has some answers for him...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

The reunion will be in Mass. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't seen some of my ocusins in too many years!!!!
How is Kyle doing today? Have you heard anything?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Talked with him awhile ago and he's in good spirits..says he's taking pain killers so he's probably on cloud 9...

Talk about a 24 hrs. - didn't tell you all, yesterday morning had headset on watching movies, telephone rang, took it out of my ear only to realize that my ear was bothering me, rubber had come off and down my ear..had to go to drugstore and pick up tweezers so the girls could get it out of my ear....then Kyle...just went to lunch, omg went in short sleeves, got back to office and realized I have a flat, Suzanne noticed big screw in the tire sooooo Debbie/Crissy that tire pump up unit is on the tire and earning it's keep..once it's filled I have to go and get it repaired..geeze louise talk about problems

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, glad to hear Kyle is in better spirits today! You make sure you give him enough hugs from all of us!
Sorry to hear you had the rubber piece in your ear, glad you got it out. Then a flat tire... I think you need to go home and get a good nights rest!

Pacifica, CA

thank you all for your prayers,
but this mornings blood test showed so much blood loss in 12 hours we had no choice but to put our little angel down.
it was the best, but hardest choice we had to make that little trouper wagged his tail up to the end.
our other fox terrier( rainey) she knows poor thing she is looking for him.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz, I'm so sorry it came to that, although the hardest thing to do it was the kindest thing you could have done...my heart goes out to you both..

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All -

Prayers to Scotty, Kyle, Deb's DH, and Liz.....

Liz - I am going to try to find something that comforted me and dmail you.... I hope you don't mind.

I took DS to Marine Recruiter today... just to "Learn". And "Learn" we did. Apparently since he takes adderoll for ADHD....he can't join ANY military branch until he has been off the adderoll for one year... HMmmmmm........

Don't know what to think about that......

Will try to pop back on later...

Hugs,
Mary

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all,
Liz I'm so sorry you had to have Asta put down but I too think it was the wisest decision. It's so Hard to do though. I'm sending warm hugs to you and DH.
Hope Kyle is doing well this morning. I imagine the pain killers will be wearing off a bit more today but I hope it is manageable. I'm so glad to hear he didn't lose his fingers.
I'm sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
Bev - hope this finds the sun shining your way and an easy day for you and Scotty.
Mary - this may be a blessing in disguise. Maybe he could look into some kind of a trade school?
Judy, I got several compliments on your towel the other day. Norm's sister just loves it and my daughter thinks it's really special. Me too!!! Mailed mine this week....
Debbie - hope the sun is shining there too. You could use a pretty day and I hope it lifts your spirits right up!!!
Susan, keep on clearing out my dear. It really does help with the selling process.
Waving to anyone I may have missed this morning. I'm off to the sewing machine!! Hope to have some pictures later today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Barb, how are you doing today?

Betty, hope you got a good nights sleep!

Glenview, IL

Hi everyone.
Betty, OMG was in knots the other day, as i am sure you were as well.
But I checked in to see how Kyle was pretty late. So glad the surgery went well.
My god what a relief that Noah didn't hit that button. That could have injured his mental state big time.
Good heavens thank goodness Kyle had his cell phone!!
Anyway i am so glad the surgery went well and Kyle is on the mend. Surely will be keeping him in prayer.
I am glad you were able to talk to him.

Bev, Keeping you and Scotty in prayer as well...I am glad you got a chance to come post.
Have been wondering. Sending you Armwraps.

Liz, I am so sorry for you and Kenny. This was such a sad,sad choice, but I am so glad that you all got to spend that last time with him.
Still brings me to tears after hearing the events. Wish i was there to give you 2 a big hug...

LOL, Audrey, yikes I am not that upset with DH, but do understand where your coming from...When i done, i am done and words will fly...

Ok so He has been researching and researching...We are now going to be driving to this Chalet, OMG will have to post the link, this place is just incredible. It's about Middle of everything...An excellent home base.

OMG...This house ATE my camera, Can't find it anywhere, grrr.
Well it's to be a gorgeous day...As was yesterday, I worked around the yard, picking up Debris, yikes time to start Gardening Arobics, lol I am a tiny bit sore, and lol one would think i never use my feet for all the swelling.

Betty, How is Kyle today? Will he have to stay in hospital for a while/

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!! I hope you're wearing your green or I will pinch you!

Tubby I got your seeds, wow thank you so much! They are hybiscus, right? I don't remember! LOL!!

Liz I am so sorry hun, that is the hardest decision ever, but you did do the right thing.

Betty LOL tire pump, I hope it worked good enough for you to get to the tire shop, Canadian Tire?? I still haven't bought new tires for my car yet, they still look the same so carry on they will. I was in such shock over Kyle I forgot that you had the rubber thing in your ear! That sounds like something that would happen to me!

So I'm leaving the house this morning and couldn't really see much of anything in focus, and was blaming my contacts, but thought they would clear up in a few minutes. So I'm driving up the road and there was a small something running up the road trying to get away from my car, but I couldn't tell what it was until I got up close to it, it was a rabbit. I was thinking, "What in the world are wrong with these contacts??" Then I remembered, I didn't put them in!!! So a u turn on a 1 1/2 lane wide road I did, back to the house, Dave said, "What did you forget that made you turn around and come back?" I laughed and told him what happened, told him that I'm forgetting the contacts and put my glasses on, then remembered my lunch that I had also forgotten, and back up the road I went, this time I could see! LOL

About the viewing/funeral issue, I forgot that if I go to the funeral today I'm going to have to find someone to cover the non ringing phones from 4:30 to 5:00, so at 4 I called Dave and asked him what he wanted to do, he said that he thought it would be easier if we went to the viewing last night and not the funeral today at 1 (odd for someone who doesn't like to look at caskets or the person inside it.) So we did that and we were both so glad we did! He did look in the casket and they have his friend, Jeff, all decked out with his hatchet, other miscellaneous tools, and a can of Mountain Dew. Our favorite Cousin Alice came up from Eastern Texas, his friend's sisters were there and Dave hadn't seen them in 30 some odd years, of course Aunt Eller was there, we really had a great time, it was almost like an old friends reunion. I told Dave that since I had only known his friend for a few years I wanted to look at the pictures, so we did (he usually doesn't do that either,) and he got to reminiscing, and was so glad we went. I cannot believe how much weight he lost in 3 weeks, and Dave told me on the way home that when he visited Jeff at his house right when he was diagnosed that he was unable to keep anything down, along with his breathing issues, and said it was throughout his whole body, the drs told Jeff that it was too late for chemo. Cousin Alice said that he was very peaceful when he passed away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning...lordy I was tired last night..slept right through to 4:30 this morning then got energetic..floors washed, craft room clean for the painters coming in this morning...boxing up Christmas gifts...

Did get to see Kyle last night..he was in great spirits, think perhaps still i shock, cast to elbow - what I could see of his arm it was pretty black, fingers all bandaged, only could see where there was wire sticking out at end of finger / fingers..apparently once healed the wire will be taken out...

Talking to Jeff last night, he's still struggling with the no smoking but is trying his best..told me that he was talking with a co-worker and mentioned Kyle being in Meaford..she went on the say there was a sports specialist, top of his line, people come from all over for him to operate and that was exactly who Kyle got..he kept relaying the info to Greg, made Greg feel better but Greg couldn't figure out how Jeff knew so much..described the specialist to a 't' even to his wearing tons of gold..lol.. said his bedside manners with parents wasn't the best but with children you couldn't ask for more ..Greg still couldn't figure out how Jeff knew so much...all and all it has been an experience, one that I hope we don't repeat..can't imagine how some manage to lose their children and still survive..just the thought of Kyle being hurt brought me to my knees....

Got my tire repaired, sitting here quietly wondering what will happen today..lol

Now that I've got my work load done for the morning it's back to watching a movie and crochet...hard work but someone has to do it...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, glad you got some much needed rest! Goodness, up at 4:30! Early to bed, early to rise, makes one healthy, wealthy and wise! Yep, that is Betty!
Hey Judy, sounds like your busy too! I am loving every moment with the boys. They can keep one very busy!
Hello to skittles, you better clip his wings, or he will be out that door in a heartbeat!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Oh, Betty - I am glad things are as blessed as they are!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((Liz))))))))) sorry for your loss of Asta - I know what a distress it is for another pet to be missing a friend.

Other than cleaning, we haven't moved anything out from our home, because the realtor said not to make any changes until we get mortgage approval.
I heard from the mortgage broker yesterday, and he said he could get all sorts of mortgages, but wants to get from an "A" lender, so I'm waiting until then.

Susan
