Paul goes back to the eye doctor on Wednesday, and I am PRAYING he can go back to work. Vision is improving but not up to par at all.
Betty, we got a new mattress for our bed...and went from a queen to king. SO, I found a GREAT deal on 400 thread count sheets...for a king..at Christmas Shop...for $29.99. They are so soft and nice! I also picked up a really cute pet bed for Izzy....different shades of blue fabric, looks quilt pattern.
We ate at Cheeburger Cheeburger...its in the same Plaza as CS and ACMoore Target.....it is a 50's type diner. I wasn't really impressed.
My daffodils are up, and have blooms....just not opened. Heavy rain and winds the last 24 hours here...yard is a mess...but 18 inches of snow has melted down to almost nothing.
The only one of the daughters that looks so much like me is Jeanna and she was with me. Carrie works in that area....but don't know if you think she looks like me or not
I have now spotted and heard morning doves and robins this morning!
Jeanna...Shannon...Carrie (From June)
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Those girls are simply beautiful..they all look like you!
OMG had we had enough room Rita was going to purchase same doggy bed, looked so comfy!
Thought you were having a hurricane yesterday when we left Debbie..had about the same all the way home until we reached Barrie, then the rain and winds were still there but not as much..
Might put on my mud books and go look around outside..waiting for a few calls and then I will, sure hope birdies followed me home...
got all my flannel cut into manageable block and now I'm ready to put through the accuquilt...
morning all,
please pray for one of my fox terrier's ( asta).
had him in emergency last night, has a immune issue his platelet count dropped very low and he isn't clotting well.
on heavy prednisone hoping his body will respond to the drug and bring up his level.
will know in a couple days after another blood panel is done.
he is alert and feisty, the gums stopped bleeding so I'm hoping after praying all night he is responding to the drug poor little guy he is 10 .
they don't know why this happens and comes out of no where, had no symptom's except for bad breath and bleeding gums
all they could say is he has a 50/50 chance.
thanks all
Liz, sorry to hear about Asta..they become as important to our lives as our children...let's hope by tonight you see some improvement. Guess animals are much like humans, catch virus's from time to time..am sure you are overwhelmed today..hugs for you and prayers for Asta!
Can you believe I ran out of white thread so a trip to Fabricland is in order...cool outside, won't play in town..it's to Midland and home within the hour.
Liz - I'm praying! Could it be kidneys? Sounds like what happened to my little Opey a few years ago....
(((((HUGS)))))
Mary
Susan Happy Belated Birthday if I missed it!! I don't know if I'm coming or going lately LOL!! So glad they had a party for you at work, that's always nice!!
Mary YAY Congratulations!! Takes me back to when I was in high school and we went to CA State competitions, we were a public but huge school with a huge band, but I was the only bass clarinet player. Loved It!!!
Mary from what I'm learning it's way too early for those Hibbies to come back yet, they are fall bloomers and probably won't start growing for another month or so.
(((((((((((((((((((Don't pull them out of the ground!!))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Wow Betty, you did find some good sales!! I would LOVE to shop for 11 hours! I've never done that before LOL!! I wish I had some extra cash... Oh well, it will come (that's what my lifelong permanent horoscope says anyway! LOL)
Liz I am so sorry about Asta! Animals are important part of our lives, and it so heartbreaking to see them have troubles. I hope the prednisolone works, Tiga's been on it for 2 1/2 years now for her Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Lots and lots of thoughts and prayers coming at you Liz.
Well I've been MIA too! Didn't do much yesterday, just piddled around the house and worked on my Spring Wreath, that I need to get in there and work on some more. It was cold, overcast, and windy yesterday, but today it's sunny and warm, at least in the sun it's warm! We went out this morning and did a bunch of weeding today until we pooped out, now we're not doing a whole lotta much!
Dave got some disheartening news this morning, not surprising though. He has a friend he knew from childhood but they were 3 years apart so they weren't good friends until recently. He was working on Uncle Roy's should-have-been-bulldozed house with remodeling the exterior and he does such excellent work and is such a nice person, anyway he was a heavy smoker and was a roofer most of his life and had retired from it at age 40, breathing not only cigarette smoke but asbestos, tar, and who knows what else. When he was working on Roy's house with Dave last summer he kept complaining of chest pains, problems breathing, and would cough up blood now and then. Dave and his wife tried and tried to get him to go to the dr but he refused to go, but got to the point he couldn't work on the house anymore. Well, about a month ago he collapsed in his living room, so his wife called 911, and after extensive tests they diagnosed Stage 4 Lung Cancer, and gave him a couple weeks to live. Of course they asked him how long he has been having symptoms, he told them at least 3 years!!! OMG!!!! Anyway, about 2 weeks ago Dave went to visit him at his home and they sat and chatted for a good 1 1/2 hours. Well, during the storms last Wednesday Dave's Aunt Eller called and said that he had been taken to the hospital and wasn't going to make it through the night. Since we were having very bad weather Dave didn't go to the hospital and hoped he would make it so Dave could go visit. Sure enough he did, and Dave went to see him last Thursday, and had another 1 1/2 hour conversation, knowing it would more than likely be their last. We got a call this morning, he passed away last night. Dave's ok with it, but I'm not very happy and have chewed him out several times, I really hate losing him, his name's Jeff Woodall and will probably have an obit in the Malvern, AR newspaper on Tuesday (they only print one day a week.)
Crissy, who are you chewing out???
Crissy, sorry to hear about you friend..am glad that Dave got to spend some quality time with him..it's a hard thing to do knowing he only had hours/days to live..
Sounds as though you are into spring gardening..went to Midland and that's about as much energy I've had, playing with sewing, not to much energy needed there...
Crissy are you adding to the wreath you did last year or doing a new one? it was so pretty, don't think it would have taken much to spruce it up
At the end of our shopping Crissy, don't even think we were taking in what was in the stores..almost zombie's lol..not fun but the stores we were at had children's clothing at great prices Carters/OshKosh and Rita wanted outfits for her grandaughters..think I was overtired and couldn't sleep..
OMG ever try to lay in a bed, dark of night, no t.v. not being able to sleep and can't get up ??? Was thinking of going to the washroom with my crochet lol but the fan was connected to the light and it sounded as though a jet was diving in on us...
LOL yes, Betty, et al ......... my birthday was on Thursday, but it's OK that it was missed by you - my goodness, you have loads on your plate, so to forget my b-day isn't a prob at all LOL
Betty - I'd love to see the accuquilt in action. Sounds ever-so-precise! (something I'm NOT, but I'm trying.............)
Sounds like you did a HUMUNGOUS amount of shopping, and to miss getting more thread?!?! lol
Hope everyone's having a great weekend! (Mary - your hibbies will survive, I have decreed it!)
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
thanks all so far he is stable but just threw up his breakfast signs of black fluid. I'm waiting for Dr to call i hope its not more blood.
Mary its called thrombocytopenia that he is diagnosed with.
Don't you find even pets as humans get feverish towards evening? Has he been ill for awhile Liz?
Susan, ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE! do think I said Happy Birthday to you on another thread though..have to go look and see..must put the birthday corner on my watch thread that way I won't miss anyone...
You are having your home 'staged' how wonderful, understand once that's done usually no problem selling..I've a girlfriend that does staging, she always wants to come and do mine..I'm the kind of gal I buy something or move something and it's as though it has to be there for life so not sure she'd appreciate me returning things the way they were..must be exciting to see though? you'll have to take before and after photo's...
Nope, didn't miss anything..I was well into my project and realized no white thread..thanks goodness Midland and Fabricland is nearby! lol
no betty came on yesterday without any warning
were just perplexed behind this just dont know what route we need to go.
still wating for vet to call:(
Hello everyone.
Liz so sorry to hear about your furry baby! Please know we will say lotsof preyers for him.
Betty, goodness, do you ever slow down? LOL! Looks like you really had a great time this week-end. And that accuquilt, looks very nice!
Just poppin in to say hello to everyone, and off to bed. I have my 2 Grandsons for the week, and I don't kow who is more demanding, my dad or the boys! LOL!
Hugs Liz! I miss having a doggie in our lives... it was 3/12...almost to the day that we put Indy down last year....and now we just have Shadow the cat.... I gave him 'extra attention' today. My prayers for your Asta...
I LOVE how Betty calls them "Furries".... That's so precious to me !
Crissy and Susan - You are both absolutely right! I found an old hibiscus post on DG (here) and posted and someone told me to go scratch to look for green...so I RAN out to the back yard and scratched all FIVE Hibiscus.... I guess I won the Scratch Off Lottery (LOL) because I found GREEN on all of them ! I VOW TO PROTECT THEM NEXT WINTER!
I'm sorry for your DH Crissy! What a double whammy... losing a job and friend...
Well - LONG talk with DS18 yesterday....almost buying into the whole "Marines" thing for him.
Then DH rented "The Hurt Locker" tonight... We didn't get all the way through it...and I definitely couldn't watch most of it... but now I'm second-guessing....
Hugs,
Mary
It seems so trivial to worry about Hibiscus with what we all have on our plates...but I guess that's just a way to "deal" with it all.....
Mary, my oldest is in the Army..I can not watch any of those movies....now # 3 son(21) said this mornin he wants to go talk to both Army, and Air force recruiters...take the ASFAB test, and see what they will offer him......could be good for him in some ways...butttttt.............
Morning, rainy day here and bit of fog...tired this morning, wonder why? lol
Don't know how families with children in the forces cope..each day must be overwhelming knowing the danger they are in, what a blessing though to know they keep OUR countries safe from harm..God bless them and you as well..
Mary, laughing at your loto win...green is good right? I walked the yard yesterday and much greenery already, mostly under leaves, won't get too gungho because there will surely be more snow..hoping all those trees I planted last year survive..
Checked on the back bedroom decking and decided which way to put the stairs then comes planting..between edging each year at about 1' and adding more gardens I'll soon be having pathways and not having to cut grass..still a long way off but not too off target!
Did get all my squares cut/ blocks ragged and sewn..designed an easy pattern to accommodate what flannel I have, got 2 rows sewn and called it a night..imagine sewing a few rows each night will finish this project..am sure there is another waiting to be made - hockey theme blocks all cut out...lol
Best go get my act together, some cleaning to do, feed animals then off to work for a rest..
Linda Kay forgot to ask, what ages are your grandsons and what do you have planned to entertain them?
Tubby, any sleep last night?
Betty
I got 5hrs of sleep
Tubby
Wow Betty the rag rug is coming along so quickly. That pattern from the afghan seems to work well with this too!!!! I like your color combination.
Just got Sean off to school - must go sort laundry and get it going. Talk to you all later......
Morning everyone! Tubby, glad to hear you got 5 hours of sleep!
Betty, my Grandsons are 5 and 12! Non stop for both of them. They love to play with constructions blocks and hotwheel cars while inside, then outside they love to ride thier bikes, or tonka trucks in the sandpile! All boys for sure! I try to limit the tv time. They love the cartoon network, and would sit there 24/7 if I let them.
Love the colors in your rag quilt. I bet the accuquilt saved a lot of time for sure?
That's great 'Tubby' .. are you feeling as though you are gaining strength? How is Shirley, anxious to see winter behind her I'm sure..sunshine is sure to help..
Barb, would imagine many are having grandchildren this week with March break or do you have same March break as we do..ours are off and enjoying the cottage life...still hockey tournaments so a busy time for them, don't think I'll get to visit with them this week...
Sat outside for about 5 minutes this morning hoping to see a robin but no go..lol..guess they haven't made it home yet.
LindaKay I agree with you, too much t.v. is not good..bet your dad loves to see them play and chat with him! I'm certainly impressed with the accuquilt and yes, as I'm sewing the rows I can see already just how much ragging there is, only thing so far that is disappointing is you use a plastic/acrylic type matt on top of the die, for the size I'm using it's $14.98 and I would say when I do my 2nd rag quilt I'll need another..it becomes quite brittle..I'll have to ask about that, make sure I'm doing it right..had I not gone to Midland yesterday I'm sure I would have completed an entire quilt before going to bed...need 2 more after the hockey quilts are done...won't be long and no more playing inside...oh happy days!
I'm so glad you're sleeping Tubby! 5 hours isn't long enough for me, I need my 8 but it must be a chick thing. Dave usually can only sleep 5 hours, then he naps during the day.
I'm chewing Dave's friend out for not going to the doctor and dying. He's only 45ish. I'll find his obit somewhere, it probably won't be in until tomorrow. Dave's handling it fine so I will too, Dave's known him about 30 years longer than I have.
Betty I'm making a spring wreath, the other one is a fall wreath. I bet you were wiped out from all that shopping, I honestly couldn't last that long, I'd become a big cranky pants. LOL!
Hibiscus are my favorite! It's definitely ok to worry about them!
So me and Diana next door were out walking around yesterday late afternoon and found a Water Moccasin down and across the street, sitting up on the top of the dirt gutter! UG I don't want those things around, they're very dangerous and hard to spot. She can spot a snake from a mile a way but I seem to have a problem seeing them.
I'll try to come back later, tons of work to do and we have a staff meeting at 9:15, and this time change is killing me today! LOL
Oooh are they like rattlers, are they dangerous..I'm sure this is the time they come out to sun themselves...even a gardner snake freaks me out...at the farm the municipality blasted the road wider and I planted wild flowers all along the roadside over the years for about 100 ft. - it was beautiful coming up towards our house, it really went wild when unbeknown to me it was the perfect place for snakes in and out of the rock..let it go wild after that...I'm sure with me yelling they'd have been more frightened of me than I of them..lol
And yes, tired today!
Hi Betty and Everyone!
Wow, so much happening and everyone sounds so busy, busy!
Liz, so sorry to hear about Asta. I know you and Kenny both are worried sick, Anyone would be. Said some prayers...Be sure to let us know what the docs say.
OMG, Betty, what a fun and Busy shopping spree you had! Nice to get away and find some great deals, lol want to shop for me?
Well, my goodness, that Acuquilter sure is the BOMB! I bet you were just a smiling away at working with it too. Yep i love your new rag quilt colors, holy smackers at this rate, you can make a quilt a week.
Mary, Awe How proud you must be of your son and the Band!! I've always been so impressed how hard the kids work and winning sure gives them such an appreciation of their hard work, Feeling Well worth it.
Was so glad to see your Hibiscus survived the winter...
Crissy, Very sorry to hear the loss of your friend. But I am glad that you and Dave are "ok" Even more happy that Dave was able to go and have a visit him. I think somehow it makes it a little easier.
Know you have a Crazy busy morning, but I hope the day is good for you.
Yikes on the snake!! Glad your friend could spot them so quickly.
OH, AnnMarie, Sorry to have missed your Birthday!! Happy Belated Birthday to you! OMG, just adore the picture of you and LIL DGS!, he is so cute, heheh, just love that he and Happy Birthday to you and "spit" all over your Bday cake, just too cute for words.
Waiving Hi Barb, you have been busy with your sewing. I have been piecing a second Downey quilt...Decided to piece it as I go which for me takes a while to just figure that part, but It's coming along nice, i think.
Linda Kay, Awe, i hope you have loads of fun with your grandsons! How's your weather? Hope it's good for their break, as is for everyone on break this week.
Tubby, so glad to hear you are getting some Good sleep. Now that warmer weather is coming, will be nice to get outside a little more and hopefully soak up some sun.
Susan, wishing you much success, Yep will be neat to see the Staging, sure hope that works!
Debbie, Congrats to your DD! Thats neat to do so well in a competition! Wish my kids got into them.
Well, I have been keeping busy myself. I have to say though, I am getting sick of not being able to go on the computer to chat!
Then Started this other quilt and the first thing DH said was OH NO!! I don't get what he wants me to do all day long...
He hates when I read, play on the computer, sew...Took the time to read a short book and he was griping about that, and all he was doing was watching TV. I have been trying to just lie low, so he doesn't make a bunch of noise about it...and really its the only reason for my not being on, I just can't win here...I am about ready to just stop everything and be a couch potato.
We have been excited about the trip, only 19 days! Woohooo. Decided we Will rent a car and Drive to Rome first, since it is the furthest we will be able to go and work our Way back to Venice...I don't know, I am a little more than worried about Driving, lol, wrong side of road and Car and worst, no speed limit!!!! LOL, told him, just great, but if I'm going to die I wanna do it in the States!!
Well my Niece, came for a very short visit. I thought it was nice, but i dunno she hasn't returned any of my calls, so I am not sure if i said something to make her mad at me again. Maybe she is just busy. LK, She has opened a Tattoo/Piercing Shop in Wisconsin and is getting Ready to open another. Was telling her about your sons. She has gorgeous roses on her wrist...Anyways I just hope she isn't mad at me again.
The Kids are all doing good. Jacob still into his sports at school. Now he is in the Track and field...Two things, Shock put, lol i think thats what it is and What he called Fat man relay. Wow, i was actually amazed at how fast he could run! His team came in 2nd. But because those are the only two things he is into, the meet was quite long and i did alot of sitting around...
Julia and Alissa are on Spring break. But both are working. Breenie, is doing Ok, She has been going after school to get some extra help. But we are having some issues with her cutting classes! She's not going to be happy because, I am not going to let her drive Till we get back. Thank Heavens Steve got some work that will keep him busy until we go! Geesh, maybe now he'll get off my back.
This woman was 99 years old when she passed away. And still lived on her own. Amazing person she was. Played the piano until she was like 80, Sewed...Found two quilts very pretty, and was into gardening, and cooking! OMG, she recorded everything she did and also kept records of all her monies...She has wonderful books on sewing and had samplers in some of the books...Lets just say her home was like walking in to yesteryear! We are to Sell the Big furniture and other items...So, Trying to find atique shops to take some of the items, and sell whatever we can....LOL, she had a fox wrap that litterally had a fox piece...This literally knocked Steve out! too funny at his reaction. Anyway after all the Stuff is removed then he is too clean and paint the entire building! It's a brick three flat with a full basement and garage...lol, who knows whats left in the garage, will be interesting to see.
Well, been typing for a while. I hope you all are doing well.
Will try and keep up everyday.
OH Betty, just loved to see Missy by the acuquilt! Wow her eyes are stunning! Sitting right at the cutting mat sure brings her eyes to a glorious color!
Judy, spring must be doing something to the men, my girlfriend Rita was telling me about her hubby as well....
What's with that, Steve knows how you love to gab to us and do crafts you'd think after 25 yrs. it wouldn't be a big deal..perhaps his being home for awhile made him grumpy..glad he's back at work...lol..
When we moved to Port Severn from the city it was a bit hard to adjust..a small grocery store, post office, liquor/beer store combined, 2 churches and 2 hotels...not much to fill in the day! I got friendly with a groups who did ceramics/quilting, infact we were 3 Betty's, it was so funny in a store, I'd say, what do you think Betty, then Betty would say it's nice what do you think to the other Betty..always a hoot..
Roger fell and injured his back and was home for 6 months, grumpy as can be, I'd go to the post office and it would take me hours, run into this one, that one and then go shopping..when he was away all week guess he thought I just sat at home..finally all h*&l broke loose, wanted me to stay in and keep him company, when he'd leave Monday morning he'd leave a list of 'to do's ' hey, must be why I still make a list on Monday's for my week...hmmm just thought of that, so I told him in the area there were 2 types of groups, women could participate in crafts/shopping/bingo or I could hit the bars, spend time with men and goodness knows what else, left it to him, told him whatever he picked would be fine with me, needless to say I spend a lot of time crafting..lol and he never brought it up again...
I'm so excited Judy about your trip, coming soon and I bet you are jittery..guess the kids are at an age you'll not have to get a sitter? How's your mother-in-law doing after her fall? Teens, you have your hands full..not sure I'd be wanting to go through raising kids in this day and age, hard tast for sure!
Oooh do you get to keep the craft books? Although it would be hard, bet it's fun going through all those things..I'd be in my glory..
Ooooh silly thing happened here at work, you all know just how hard I work, joking of course, was doing crochet, watching the new Alice in Wonderland on that movies channel I get off the web, had ear phones on, a call came in, I yanked the ear set off, oh/oh the little plastic piece went down into my ear..had to leave, go to the drugstore and pick up eyebrow plucker so the girls could pull it out...shaking my head here...
Judy, I had the same problem with my ex. He didn't want me to read, or nap, etc., while he watched tv. You notice he's an EX?! Got tired of the griping after 31 years, and left him on his 50th birthday with a note on the ironing board!
Shaking and crying..just got a call, boys were at the cottage, 2 hrs. away Kyle was doing something, arm in a hoist, Noah didn't know, pressed on throlled, he's been rushed to 2 hospitals so far..going in for surgery as we speak..I'm of home, things to look after for Melanie..will be back on when I hear something..
PRAYERS please!
Oh my goodness Betty! Sending lots of thoughts and prayers for all new to be good news! Please post when you can!
Sending (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to!
Oh my God Betty.....prayers prayers prayers...and hugs
Debbie
Betty -
My prayers are with you ! (((HUGS))) Please keep us posted. I'm hoping it's not as bad as it sounds and they got help quickly...
Betty, OMG Prayers going up as i type.
Please careful as you rush...
Yes, please let us know how Kyle is as soon as you can.
Oh Praying for Noah as well, poor guy probably sick with fear.
((((((((Betty)))))))))) hugs to Kyle, Noah, and you!! Prayers are going up right now .....
For those I didn't make it clear to.... I'm staging the house myself, with no input from DH LOL
He doesn't understand it the way I do.
I've been told I'm a "2nd Martha Stewart" (without the jail time!) LOL
My DH is acceeding to my wishes and will move what I want! SO THERE lol
Seriously, if I could move the piano to make more room, I would!
But, in the meantime, I'll have to box up most of my quilt stuff, etc.
The realtor said Not to do much in the way of clearing out until we hear from our Mortgage Broker (tomorrow, they said).
anyway - It's one way to clean the house! (with some muscle power from DH)
^_^
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Just happened by here, as I saw Susan's name on the list. Betty, I will be praying and watching for more news. sorry, I'm not going through any more of the thread.
Betty, sending out prayers that all will be well.
Betty our prayers are with the boys and you....please take care. We will be watching for news.
Hi there, taking a few minutes to let you know about as much as I know at this point...before I do, want to thank you all the your prayers...
Kyle and Noah were at the cottage a few hours from here..Jan and Charlie (grandparents) bought them atv's for Christmas..they were looking forward to riding them..Jeff my youngest bought them a dirtbike and for some reason Noah was looking forward to taking it with him so when I got the call wasn't sure that it wasn't something to do with the dirtbike..thank goodness not or Jeff really would feel badly..
The grandparents have over 100 acres of land adjacent to the cottage and being in construction and having heavy equipment he's made trails for the boys to enjoy..guess with all the rain it was quite muddy and one of them ended up getting stuck, now I'm not sure if Charlie was with them, know that Kyle would know how to get a winch going to get the atv out of the mud..guess Kyle had hooked it up and somehow Noah thought he said to turn it on ..NOT! Kyle's arm got caught..
Don't have all the details yet..
Just as I walked in the telephone was ringing, it was Greg saying they were about 3/4's of the way, Cathy was here letting Sailor out so she offered to go spend the night and look after things at their house so that I could head out to the hospital...
Only minutes later Greg called back and said the specialist had just called him, they weren't sure if they would operate right away or wait until morning, depended on a few things...so just incase they would send him somewhere else Greg thought I should wait...
Finally after waiting what seemed an eternity but wasn't I called Greg's cel, guess Greg saw my number and gave the phone to Kyle to talk..he was a bit groggy, said in a lot of pain, worried about the operation but thank goodness he still has his arm and hand..guess the worse is a couple of fingers, from what he said it was all but deboned...
Because it's so far and Greg and Mel will have to spend a few days they thought it might be a long trip there and back..I feel much better having talked to Kyle..
Greg just called, he's going into surgery so am waiting to hear the outcome .. thanking you for your prayers, all I could think of was his being minus an arm..close call I'm sure...
So am waiting for Greg to let me know how the surgery went, not sure, might take a run tomorrow morning...they don't keep you in the hospital for any length of time and with his doctor being here who knows might send him to Midland hospital or home...still not sure of the extent of damage..I imagine once the operation is done Melanie and Greg will have a better idea...
Noah is devastated, can't stop crying..poor little one..accidents are accidents but am sure he's feeling guilty..
Talk later
Betty, I'm so sorry! Are YOU OK? Please take care of yourself! Try to stay calm, because of your heart! And I know that's almost impossible!
